Maxines, our local cafe has been around forever and serves as a Main Street town meeting place. It's a real old west historic building where old timers come and new folks are made welcome. We were all worried when it was taken over by new owners, but what was once very good has now got even better! Yum yum home cookin' in a quirky, friendly atmosphere is well worth a detour off highway 71. You can come as you are, eat fantastic food and walk out with lots of change. The whole family will love it and you'll return again and again! It's my favorite!

Great Food & Atmosphere!

This is a wonderful place for families or just a quiet lunch with a friend. The fried green tomato sandwich is excellent. It is casual and comfortable, yet upscale in the food choices - while offering a nice kid's menu. My iced tea came in a mason jar which was HUGE! It was a novelty to drink out of but I could not finish mine. Perfect size for the thirsty person! I have heard the live music venue in the evenings is fun too! I will be back for dinner and music! Great Place!

We love our little Maxines! Breakfasts are wonderful! New waitstaffers, and boy did the service improve!
We hear the catfish Friday unlimited dinners are just terrific ( we do not care for catfish). Music on Friday is always fun. Come on down and enjoy Bastrop at it's best!
Pros: Great Breakfasts, good portions, good music, good service
Cons: Not open on Saturday night

Have tried Maxine's twice......

Great location but just tried it for the second time today at lunch. The server never smiled or asked how the food was. I took one bite of the special which was beef tips over rice. It was too spicy to eat so we left after eating a salad and cold dinner roll. The scarf used as a table cloth had crumbs from the previous customer. I will not try it a 3rd time.
Pros: Lovely location.
Cons: Nasty food and surly staff.

Best Breakfast in Town!!

This is a great place for breakfast, food is tasty and warm. Dont recommend it for dinner, not a great selection for dinner, but the breakfast is great!!
