I thought my oven igniter was out but I was told that if we installed it and that is not what was wrong that we would not be able to return the part. So I decided to have Maytag install it. They said the $80 service fee would be waived if I got it fixed. I knew the part cost $60 and that there would labor charges. However, I never expected I would pay the equivalent of $204 per hour. It took 45 minutes or less. My total bill was $233 after he knocked off $20 when he knew I was really upset (or it would have been $230 per hour). We have used this Maytag store for over 15 years and never had anything like this happen. I called and spoke with the owner and he said they did not charge by the hour and that they use a national booklet to do their pricing. He looked it up and said I was charged correctly. I could not believe it.

I highly recommend Dallas Maytag for service. They made an appointment between noon and 2PM. Stephen was running behind schedule and gave me a call to tell me he was going to be late, even though it was only by 15 minutes. He show up at 2:15 PM. Stephen was professional and instantly knew what the problem was. He made the repair in about 30 minutes. The total bill was $225, which was what I expected. Good friendly service and professional know how.

Sorry to say I can't recommend this location for servicing their own products. I had a stove with an igniter out, a $50 item that took less than 15 minutes to fix and paid over $200 for the honor of letting the people who sold it to me fix it. This is a 10 year old appliance that I don't believe I paid more than $280 for in the first place. My big mistake was allowing my 19 year old son to handle the transaction as I was out of town. Even with their standard $80 call fee (waived/applied too work done) and the $50 part, this was about $85 more than it should have cost for 15 minutes of work. I've heard of rounding off to the nearest half hour but at $155/hour, why would anyone be a Doctor anymore. Last time I ever call a Maytag repairman. Guess its true, they get called so infrequently they have to make it up on each call.

I was surprised when Whirlpool recommended Dallas Maytag Home Appliance Center to repair my dryer after another company didn't fix it correctly. However, Dallas Maytag repairs many brands of appliances. They provided quick serivce. I would recommend them to others.
