The only thing that would make the Ice Skating Rink better would be to put it on the south side! Me and my girl friend have been back several times. There is also a movie theater and restaurants close by so you can make a date night out of it.

I've been to a few other ice skating rinks to compare by so I knew what to expect from them. The Northwoods ice skating facility is excellent. The place is very large, with two, full size rinks. All of the equipment was in good repair and it was overall clean. There were a lot of people dashing around but the layout made it easy to get about with out having to run into anyone. The rink I was in had beginners and and advanced skaters no one was hogging the rink because it is too big, there is enough room for everybody and getting on and off the ice was a cinch. Northwoods ice rink is a great facility in San Antonio, I will be back.

We always have a great time when we go. Never have I experienced any of the problems then other people on here are saying. The only negative remake I have is that I would like to have more options when it come to food nothing organic or healthy really but that is not very important anyway, we go to skate not to eat.

I have skated at many ice rinks and find this to be the poorest certainly. The rink is run by teens with very poor attitudes who are rude and unpofessional. I have expressed concern several times that the rink guards were not managing the skaters and unsafe conditions only to be met with curt, often rude and or nonchalant responses. I realize it is the only one in SA. Perhaps this is why it so poorly managed. Sadly it is run by teenagers.

As parents with kids very involved in the "Learn to Skate" program for one year, we have been increasingly discouraged with the figure skating side.

The manager of the skating classes has been pushing out some widely favored coaches she didn't like, resulting in many long-time participants leaving the program. Total class participation is down over 50% at the intermediate and advanced levels. Skating club members are increasingly exchanging angry, frustrated e-mails.

The Dallas-based owner has hired a mostly teenage crowd to run the public skating sessions and skate shop. They have no knowledge of skates or equipment, and only receive figure skate shipments once a year. The rental skate blades are dull and skates are cheap and poorly maintained.

I recently observed one teenage female staffer shouting angrily at a group of very young elementary children when one of them opened a door to the ice rink. Another day, this same teenager shouted at me when I stepped up to the edge of the ice rink to flag down my child. She could have politely explained the rules, but chose to bark orders at me instead. Later that evening she became very angry with my preteen child and his friend for some perceived violation of rules that are not posted anywhere.

Friday and Saturday evenings are a mostly junior-high crowd, but too many parents just drop off their kids. As a fairly conservative parent, I was uncomfortable with the prevalence of making out in the corners for such a young-ish crowd, and with so few parents or adult staff present.

Ice Center is a busy place! They have lots of group activies like hockey for kids & adults. They also have classes for people to learn to skate and learn to play hockey. When you register for classes it includes your skate rental in the price which is very nice. They also offer party packages in addition to everything else they do. Lots of fun and they have a great staff that is helpful to the ones that are just learning how to skate or play hockey.
