Great food, all your sports
by MalikThomas
Perfect place to watch ALL of your games in HD. Not only is the pizza great but they've added some awesome burgers to the menu. The staff is friendly and the place isn't so big that you can never get a drink.
Pros: Best pizza in town

NASTY PLACE!!!
by BIANCA CLARK
I have a friend that always enjoyed this place and tonight, 09/27/09 we decided to take my friend's brother and sister in law...what a disappointment!!! Girls were flashing and sitting on guys lap pretending obscene movements...I was very embaressed!!!I did not call the police, because the owner was involved in this ridiculous scene!!! !!!when leaving one of the girls that was flashing before had taken her entire shirt off....i got mad and told her I was going to call the police, and off course they all yeld to me to get out of there which of course I did and would never go back!!!I am sure Nick lost a lot of customers tonight, at least 4 of us that just wanted to have some pizza and enjoy the game...
Pros: 1
Cons: 5

Great Local place to hang out and watch sporting events
by HoustonTransplant02
This is a great bar for people, who want to hangout, eat some good food, get some good priced drinks, and watch sports.
I recommend the pizzas (some of the best in the metropoltian Houston area), pizzadillas, chips and queso (all homemade), steak night steaks on the weekend, cannolis, chicken wings, and much, much more. Great place to go to watch the sporting events (and especially the ones that no one in the area seems to have available to watch).
The staff is really nice and the service is normally great (only time there is issues is potentially when the places is so busy that people are hanging from the rafters and as a result, service is slower). The only time I have seen any of the staff ever get snippy with a customer is when a patron is being downright rude to them. I have never had issues ordering take-out.
The shopping center that this bar is in may have seen better days, but I would not call this area of Houston questionable (if I were to call this area questionable, I would call the Galleria, Highland Village, etc. questionable too).
Pros: some of the best pizza, great pizzadillas, very nice staff
Cons: parking, but that is a problem in most businesses in Houston

What a great place to be!
by Hoss77
I was moving to the area, 10 years ago and happened to stop in for lunch. I ordered the Chicken Fettucine Pizza. OMG... it was so awesome! I was hooked. The staff was great and made me feel at home. I went back that night and met the owner (Nick). What a great guy. He made me feel like family, as I have learned he does for all of his customers.
10 years later and I am still going to Nicks Place, even though I live way out in Richmond, TX. The beer is still ice cold, the food is still great.
Thank you Nick and Cyndi for a great place to watch sports, eat, drink, unwind and meet other good people.
Pros: Ice cold beer, Sports TV where ever you look, Great Food
Cons: I cant rent the back room to live in

A real place for REAL people.
by knarfness
You can get treated like a real person. The feeling is like being at your friends house. (no your best friend.) It is real and not sugar coated. Treat these people like you like to be treated, and the other B.S. reviews will make sense. It is my favorite place and you have to see for your self. 15 years open for a reason!
Pros: You matter!
Cons: parking.

I just read some of the posts that were left on the city search site. What caught my eye was the fact that the owner is replying to messages. In my opinion that is first class and a representation that he cares about making a customer base. I went to Nick's this past Saturday after reading about the place on the internet (citysearch and the company website). I just moved here from North Carolina and I was looking for a place I could go that offered a great atmosphere, nice people, drink specials and good food. When I found out that Nick's was an Italian Sports bar I was immediately intrigued. I came to watch the Tyson Cup (an international gymnastics competition) and the UNC/Maryland game. I was impressed with the amount of TV's and their quality. My friend and I ordered a beer (3.00 tap special was great) and I ordered the nachos (shared appertizer) and Philly Steak Sandwich and he ordered the Brusetta. The service was fine (it is a bar after) however, I wasn't too crazy about my food. It was edible but I was kinda of hoping for it to leave me wanting more. I know I didn't order any Italian food (it was the middle of the afternoon and I just wanted something light to go with my beer). My experience was kind of an indifferent one. I am planning to go back. This time I will order some of the Italian food (any recommendations?). I will probably be back for the UNC vs. Duke game in about two weeks. The location is not close to my Meyerland address (I know that they have no control over that. I am not complaining about it just mentioning why I will not be able to get there sooner) so I will not be able to head back sooner than I would like. I am looking forward to your reply and my next visit at Nick's.
Pros: Drink Specials, Parking, Bar Space
Cons: Questionable area

How YOU Doin!
by AleckM
If you want a great place to watch your favorite team and have a cocktail or two or three...., then Nick's is your place! The service, the food and the atmosphere is exactly what you want in a Sports Bar. You will never be refused when requesting a particular game. My wife went to a small school in Louisiana and they always accomidate her by showing her team on at least one of the many HD TV's. Also a great place to bring a group of you and your college alumni. They will set up tables and TV's regardless of the size of your party and treat you like you've been going there for years. I'm a life long Houstonian and Nick's Texas hospitality is top notch!!!!

Get rid of Wes and the place will be alot better!!
by Lanette1
Nick's would be better if Wes did not work there. I been there 3 times, and every time he has been a total d*&K! The 1st time i went, i was alone, so he was being nice and walked me to my car. As soon as i got in my car the MF tried to kiss me, yuk!! The 2nd time I went with a few friends and we were doing shots, so then he decideds to tell my friend she can't have anymore shots. Well some guy orders us a round of shots, and of course we drink them, so then Wes kicks us out for drinking the shots he just made us,plus takes our money. The last time, we tipped out the waitress before she left to make sure she got her tip from us. Then closed out the tap with Wes and he made a big fit saying we were not tippers. My friend decides to order another round before we left and he slammed the drinks down in front of us and said loud, "here is to the non tippers). I know they did something to our drinks. I was very offened because I am a great tipper. I usually leave the same amount as what my tap is for the tip. SO PLEASE JUST GET RID OF WES!! HE IS A GREASY SLIME BALL AND SO RUDE!!

Average neighborhood sports bar
by canwetalk
There is nothing about Nick's that merits special mention. The food is dreadful. Suggestion: Shorten the menu and concentrate on quality. The nachos had no sour cream, no guacamole, no meat. It was basically chips & queso. Ugh! Service was average. Decor: mediocre.
Pros: Good location, ample parking
Cons: Just nothing special, mediocre food

Great Pizza-Smoking
by headrush77
Nick's Place serves a great pizza. It must be the pizza sauce. The pizza is served with a New-York style thick White Flour Crust. Made with olive oil? Tastes like it. I would prefer that they serve Thin Crust,, 100% Whole Wheat Pizza . That would be a perfect pizza for overweight individuals like myself.
With the new city ordinance, smoking is restricted to the outside. The patio where smoking is allowed is next to the building, so the second-hand smoke does sometimes seep into the bar when patrons open the door to come in-and-out of the bar.I guess non-smokers could choose their spot carefully.

Bigger Bar Tabs Rule the Roost!
by fantasyfootballblahs
Nick's Place is a local haunt of lots of Houston's talk radio personalities. Since it is always promoted as "down home" & a "great place", I decided to change my venue for our annual fantasy football league draft to Nick's for this season....TERRIBLE DECISION. We have done this for 7 years, but based on what I always hear on the radio, thought why not give Nick's a shot. Back in early June I scheduled my draft for Nick's on Friday, 08/22/2008. I followed up with that by actually stopping in & speaking to Nick himself a week before and verified that we were set up for 8 p.m. with enough space for 20 people. I arrived @7:15 the night of the draft and had been told that we would be sharing one side of the bar with another league, but that it wouldn't be an issue. HA. Their league had premium space with square tables all put together in conference roomlike seating for the 15-20 guys that were there. We were shoved up in a corner under a TV, right in front of the mens restroom, with 1 square table, 2 round ones & 12 seats... not what I had been told at all. The staff came over and helped move more tables over, but because of the proximity of where we were in relation to the bathroom, we had to curve back around towards the middle of the room. This meant that the back two tables had to deal with all of the noise that the other league was creating. Noise is kind of an understatement. The other group was loud and boisterous. Most of them were drunk by the 3rd round & the alcohol continued to flow. They even began throwing things like napkins & coasters. When we asked about having them quieten down we were told that they came every year & usually racked up a tab of $1200+. I know that small business owners rely on returning customers, but our group spent around $550 & were treated like our event was not nearly as important as the group of loud buffoons that were there every year. I will never go back & suggest that no one ever does.
Pros: There were sports playing on the TV's
Cons: Don't expect premium service

Awesome pizza
by AAnsel
My husband and I go to Nicks Place about 3 times a month. The service is great, the waiters are always friendly and remember you after the second time you are there. The pizza is the best in town, it has spoiled me for pizza anywhere else. My husband raves about the fish tacos. I think they have the coldest bottled beer in the city. Its a neighborhood bar atmosphere, easy going and casual, just the type of place we love. We have introduced it to many of our friends. Have to run now, on our way to Nicks for the evening!
Pros: Excellent food and service, plenty of tvs
Cons: Can get very crowded during big sports events

Cons: TVs are off synched b/c some are not HD

Rude Dirty never going there again!
by jeffb89
First time I went to Nick's it was great, the food was terrific and the service was ok.
Second time I visited when my brother came to town the service SUCKED, because we didn't have cleavage for the bartender to look at so we sat at the bar for 15 min. before they even acknowledged us. Ok no big deal the guy bartenders always take care of the girls a little better. So now we get to the third time! What a (use your own word here) went in and asked if they had a to-go menu..Bartender: NO Can I call in an order and pick it up later this evening......Bartender: I GUESS ..........ok so obviously this guy doesn't want me ordering something to go. As I leave before I am even out the door the (own word again) yells, try Dominio's Mother F---er!!! Won't ever go here again and will tell every single person I know not to go there!!! What a bunch of (own word here)!!!
Pros: Good Pizza and Calzones
Cons: Horrible Bartenders

Smoky, loud, dirty, missing pool equipment, poor service...shorted me 2 wings and had to wait 30 more minutes to get them.
by liztime
I'd pass on this place being that the service is poor, the pool tables are missing all the necessary equipment... blue chalk, powder, not enough sticks. Not a very good surround sound, load and no clarity, just annoying. Most importantly, poor service. We ordered wings and was short 2 on our first visit. Had to wait 30 minutes to get them...no apologizes from the waiter. Very small, smokey and dusty....I am a smoker myself but couldn't deal with their faulty ventilation system.

Best Pizza on the planet!!! Don't forget the Crab Meat Stuffed Jalapenos!!
by rudekarma
Awesome pizza, stuffed jalapenos, all-u-can eat spaghetti specials. Very good drink prices. Diverse cliental. LOADS of TV's for all forms of sports viewing. Competent bar, wait and kitchen staff. Oh, yeah, the owner and his lovely wife are just down to earth, good folks. I've been stopping in at Nick's for quite a few years. The owner continues to up grade and expand their services and environment to enhance your dining/drinking enjoyment. Be sure to check out their road trips.
Nick's is a MUST CHECK OUT kinda place!

Pros: Sports on TV, Food, Drinks
Cons: VERY smoky, Parking

Nick's Place Fan
by mbachara
I have been going to Nick's Place since I was 19 years old. They have THE BEST pizza I have ever had in Texas. The other menu items are amazing as well, such as the Panzini, the Stuffed Mushrooms, and the Buffalo Wings. My husband and I moved out to Westheimer and fell in love with this tiny, but larger than life sports bar, and now that we live an hour away, we still make it a point to visit at least once a week. The drink specials are great and Wednesday nights often offer free pizza from the wheel of specials. This place is an absolute must-try! If you love sports and pizza, this is definately the place for you!
Pros: Inexpensive, Great Food, Great hang-out
Cons: Parking Difficult, A little hard to find

Great Sports Bar
by mkrais
I have gone to Nick's Place several times to enjoy some Big East sports programs. The staff does everything possible to get the game you want to see, on the TV you are sitting in front of. I have never had a bad meal and in fact, I have taken friends there only to have them take other friends since they had such a good time. Parking is a problem, and DO NOT park in an area marked as a tow away zone. Try the place out and I'm sure that you will enjoy it as much as my friends and I have.
Pros: Food, Staff, Good Value

Home away from home
by Khyser
Nick always treats everyone like famliy @ his place. His recent additions of more tv's lets everyone have a front row seat. He also does boat trips and limo nights. The food is always good & the drinks are cheap. You couldn't have asked for a better bar staff. They are reliable & will be happy to put on your favorite sport. I suggest anyone who is tried of the trendy expensive bars to try Nick's Place. Never a cover charge. Try a calzone, drink a beer and play some NTN. Don't forget the Wheel of Specials. Ask for Andrew or Steve. (Khyser)
Pros: friendly staff, cheap drinks & food, NTN, fun and crazy!
Cons: parking is limited, towing is enforced, juke box

Italian "Cheers"
by awsmith
Very attentive staff. Excellent specials and events. Waitstaff is more than happy to put any NFL/NHL/NBA/MLB/WNBA/PGA/ETC event on a screen for you. Heaven is "Nick's Wheel of Fortune" landing on "Free Pizza" for the house. One of the few sports bars in the area that you won't have to worry about some silly "Pro Wrestling" event interfering with your favorite playoff game. The homemade stuffed mushrooms appetizer is to die for.
Pros: NTN trivia, pasta dishes, beer selection
Cons: limited parking
