The best advice I could give someone that may look at Spring Creek Academy is to question weather you have a self-motivated child or not. This is a school where the majority of the students are very motivated not only in school but outside of school as well. Nearly all of the students have a huge commitment to an outside activity. The classes are conducted at a fast pace. As for high school, there is a four year plan for graduation which can be completely done at the school(referring to previous review). It is wonderful opportunity to have a school like this if your child is self-motivated.

I highly recommend Spring Creek academy as a viable option if you are looking for a small private school, flexible hours, and a warm environment. the teachers are very helpful and at times go above and beyond to help the students meet their academic needs. the students that attend spring creek are generally athletes(hockey equestrian soccer golf tennis etc.) musicians and dancers[not party people and slackers like one other review mentioned]. The student body is very small which provides an amazing learning environment with student teacher ratios of 1:6. I highly recommend Spring creek academy, it's a great environment to have studied in.

My experience is that these angry reviews are from parents of failing students that were asked to leave Spring Creek Academy. I've found that the school is academically challenging and the students are very motivated and disciplined. The unmotivated students do not last at this school. This is a great school and my children are very happy at Spring Creek!

This school is not well organized. We considered this school as my daughter did not like a large public school environment, but we quickly withdrew as soon as we realized what was happening.

The administration charges ridiculous rates and uses cheap, old textbooks with many errors. AP Classes are over $100/year, which is ridiculous considering that it's free in a public school. Of course, I wouldn't mind paying tuition if the teaching was good, but it wasn't. My daughter was being taught by worksheets. She received all failing scores on his AP tests. In public schools, she passed all of them.

On top of all that, few faculty members are certified and the administration is a mess. Grades are done in very strange ways, giving precedence to athletes and people with money (missing and failing grades are simply wiped clean). On top of that, the student body is very, very weak. For those of you that laud SCA's Iowa Test scores: Iowa is actually not a good indication of a school's strength. However, SAT scores are, and SCA's are not high at all. With candor and objectivity, I strongly urge prospective parents to look elsewhere.

With only 30 minutes per class, many kids enjoy that they can spend the rest of the day doing what they do. Some are athletes, some are musicians, some just like to play video games or party. Sadly, the last group is the more common majority among Spring Creek students.

As a high school student of Spring Creek Academy, I advise you not to attend this school. I have been here for several years, and can objectively say that this school is perhaps one of the worst in the nation. The teachers are highly disrespectful and disgustingly show immense favoritism to only the athletes. They do not care about your education; and consequently, the students don't learn anything.

The administration is unorganized and generally confused. They enforce ridiculous, superfluous "rules" that are even questionable to the teachers. It does not help that the principal has completely no idea how to run a school, and scrambles about trying to act with his self-perceived "authority".

In short, Spring Creek Academy is not a school for the gifted and talented, as it so claims. It breeds students that have no self-discipline whatsoever, and are taught that being lazy is perfectly acceptable. The tuition of the students that attend go towards the own pockets of the administration [completely run by one family], instead of the much-needed supplies for the broken-down school. If you value your child's education at all, I strongly recommend against attending Spring Creek Academy.

My child has been enrolled at SCA for the last three years. She has done much better here than she did at public school. There is alot of homework, which is to be expected from a 2 1/2 hour schoolday, but this has taught her to manage her time wisely. We love the warm and inviting atmosphere of the school, and the smaller class size. I would highly recommend this school for parents who have a flexible schedule.

My child has attend spring creek middle school for a year and has received an excellent education. The program is a great choice for student athletes as well as those involved with music or acting. It provides an abbreviated school day with a 6:1 student teacher ratio. The school provides more individualized tracks as well as feedback when needed to help your child excel academically. The school curriculum followed is similar to her exemplary rated middle school she would have attended and enjoyed more hands on projects with the class than her friends in our town's middle school. she excelled in math and made tremendous strides in reading and language.

My daughter currently attends Spring Creek Academy. She has never been happier & her results have never been better. Her excellent SAT scores are confirmation. I live in South Africa, my daughter is far away from home & the director, Mrs. Morrell has literally taken her into her home on occasion & cared for her like one of her own! I have great respect for the principal, Mr. Nelson & know for a fact that when converting my daughter's school marks to US grades, he stuck strictly to IOWA scores & gave nothing away. The staff are dedicated & supportive. Full marks to SCA! Trish Malkoff

Pros: Best school my daughter's attended

Cons: Dallas is so far away from South Africa

My child left this school with straight A's in Honors English and only scored a 12 on the ACT reading. My child did not know any test taking strategies or have the needed vocabulary to master the college entrance test. There is not enough time in a class period to adequately teach English at this school. My child only wrote one research paper in four years and this was all done independently. My child does not know basic vocabulary words that much younger students in public school are exposed to. This school thinks that completing a worksheet is teaching vocabulary. The words are never mastered. They do one worksheet and never see or use the words again.

I made the decision to edit this review and rate Spring Creek as excellent. My children have been at Spring Creek for one year. We received their Iowa Test scores and both of them improved. My youngest child improved his scores dramatically. Other parents I have spoken to feel positive about the school also. The poor reviews seem to be coming from the same person.

It is very difficult for parents to locate academic resources for their children and Spring Creek Academy may work for some but it is not ideal, for many reasons.

This school is privately owned and has been in business for many years. Unfortunately their concept has not evolved.

They are accredited by the state but they do not offer all the courses necessary to graduate. You will need to locate a number of classes elsewhere or choose to pay for limited and expensive summer school classes to earn the required credits to graduate.

The administration consists primarily of family members or extensions of the family and is not professional.

The teaching staff (we worked with over the years) ranged from good to great but was limited by questionable constraints handed down by the administration.

Disgruntled parent? No. Poor academic student? No.

We learned much from our years at this school and we offer our experiences free, without the cost of enrollment, tuition, books, testing and miscellaneous fees.

There are other options available to families requiring flexible schedules, smaller classes, gifted and talented students, etcetera - some are even free!

Spring Creek Academy is a great private school in Plano, Texas serving the entire Dallas Metro Area. The environment at this private school is outstanding and the teachers truly care about the students and special care is taken in delivering custom curriculum and tutoring for each and every child.
