It is obvious that all the employees there care for their animals, and also care for the people who purchase the animals. I went to Pet O Rama in Waxahachie to purchase some little fish for my mother. The girl recommended that rather than buy a bunch of fish now, it would be better for me to wait until I knew that the aquarium was save for the fish. She tested the water for me and made great suggestions as to which fish would work for my mother who is a senior. Thanks Katie for all your help.

I don't think Ken's response is out of line. He obviously believes they are right and cares about what he is doing. My daughter adopted two adorable kittens there who were brother and sister. They were rescued and had just come in that day. We had to wait till the next day to adopt them because they were still in quarantine. They were definitely old enough to be adopted and they are the absolute best natured wonderful cats you could ever hope for. They were treated for fleas, which they did have when they were rescued, but the point is Petorama treated them and gave them their first shots and we were very happy. I have been in there when animals were out of water, but overall I think they are pretty conscientious.

every time I come in the workers are more than willing to help me with any issue. If they do not have a direct answer they always find someone who does. All animals are well treated and seem to be great quality. I absolutely love Pet-O-Rama and will continue shopping with them. though some prices are a little high the helpful workers make it worth it.

Boy! You really showed your anger and it was scary. Actually, it was downright hateful with all the finger pointing. To think that you are a representative of the store makes me raise my eyebrows! I hope the owners of Pet-o-Rama have a talk with you because you just made the store look bad. You could have addressed Kat's letter in a dignified, respectful way and still got your point across. You were hoping to disclaim her but instead everyone who reads this will be focused on your letter and not hers. Think before you "speak" next time.

Let's answer you questions
1. Where do the puppies come from?
A: ME- I am a private buyer for Petorama. We go to meet SMALL breeders (no puppy mills) and inspect their kennels. Interview the breeders and ensure they are not over breeding.

2. Why would a breeder sell to a pet store when they can get 2-3 times the money selling direct?
A: Because most people wanting a pet are not willing to drive 200 miles to pick it up. The majority of breeders are in farmland areas not the city! So we provide this service.

3. At what age was the "infant" taken from his mother?
A: Typical heart string pulling it's NOT an infant! It's a puppy! And we will not take any animal under 8 weeks. Then we quarantine the puppy for one week to ensure it's healthy. So petorama has the healthiest puppies.

4. How much socailizing did the puppy get? We handle every puppy EVERYDAY! And I do not mean just picking them up. We really to give dam!

We go to GREAT lengths to ensure Petorama has excellent puppies. My wife and hand pick them! We are very picky when it comes to breeders. 80% of the breeders we inspect we would not buy from. Many are filthy! That's exactly why you buy from a pet store! Because most have private buyers! Most breeders are not the place to get a dog! 80% fail inspections but sell to buyers everyday! At least at a pet store you have someone to hold accountable.

Petorama is an excellent place to buy a puppy. I know, they hold us to a very high standard! They take great care of their animals and their customers. They really are TOP SHELF!

How tragic for the pets in our community that there are still people in the pet 'business' that sell kittens/cats, puppies/dogs, rabbits & ferrets.

How many years ago has it been that PETsMART and PETCO showed the world that they could be very successful and have a lucrative business and NOT sell cats & dogs? Both PETsMART and PETCO support your community (therefore helping to save your tax dollars) by working with humane & rescue groups. They are much more deserving of your business than PETORAMA. And in my personal opinion, more trustworthy.

Before you buy a pet from PETORAMA DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Where do they get their "livestock"??? Why would any reputable breeder sell to a pet store when they can make 2-3 times as much money per animal selling directly to the owner? How old were the infants when taken from the mothers? How much human contact did they have, starting at what age (how socialized are they)?

I am a humane volunteer and have been for 20 years. I hear horror stories every day from people who have purchased pets from pet stores. Many of them felt sorry for the babies in the store and purchased for that reason. Others simply didn't know the pitfalls of pet store pets until it was too late. In the end it didn't matter why they purchased, the vast majority wished they had been educated and had adopted humane instead.

Search online about puppy mills before setting foot in this store, PETLAND, or any pet store that sells pets.

You'll find an endless list of humane and rescue groups online at petfinders and you'll probably find at least one group working adoptions out of your local PETsMART and PETCO every weekend.

Please don't buy when so many die in our shelters.

Thanks for listening. What I have stated here is not as much my opinion as it is my experience over the last 20 years. I've talked to a ton of people with broken hearts & sick or dying pets. If you truly care about pets & animals this is really important.

It is unfortunate that in this age of education that people still frequent this store knowing that they sell puppies and kittens.

There are so many wonderful pets available for adoption on www.petfinder.com and at reasonable prices (already spayed or neutered with shots) that I do not know why someone would support this store and puppymill breeders.

Do the compassionate thing and adopt a pet from a shelter or rescue group.

This pet store is the best there is, it is close to home and filled with a wide selection of merchandise. The staff is always willing to offer their friendly help and knowledge. The animal cages and habitats are always so clean. They carry the top of the line in pet foods and supplies. I shop here for all my pets needs and recommend this place to everyone.

You wouldn't expect so much to be in such a small space. They have everything you need for almost any kind of pet you could have. Everthing from fish to birds to mice to snakes to dogs and cats can either be taken care of by the products, fed with the food, or even purchased from the store.

PROS: Huge selection of pet care products
CONS: small store space can get crowded easily

I love to go there to buy and just to browse. They have animals big and small and you can hold them all. There always seems to be one that takes my heart. The whole staff seems to know all the answers about any of my crazy pets.
