Dr. Braunstein is the worst doctor I or my wife have ever been too. This was our first pregnancy. We were taken to a nurse who conducted an ultrasound on my wife. She confirmed that my wife was pregnant, approximately 5 1/2 weeks along. After the ultrasound we were escorted to an examination room and told the doctor would be with us shortly. We waited for over an hour without any communication from Dr. Braunstein or a nurse. Once Dr. Braunstein finally joined us in the examination room it was clear she was in a hurry. She appeared to be rushed wanting to finish with us so she could go home. She walked in and said so do you have any questions for me. My wife and I gave a confusing look at one another before starting to ask a few general questions, which should have been given to us willingly. The only information she provided was when we specifically asked a question. Our visit with Dr. Braunstein ended with my wife giving blood to monitor her hormone levels. My wife was told to come back the following Wednesday to give more blood. Knowing Wednesday was the day before a major holiday, my wife called the doctor's office early that morning to ask if it would be alright to stop by on her way home, around 4:00 pm. They said it would be fine and everyone would be at the office, no one was leaving early for the holiday. She arrived at their office around 3:50 pm to find out that all the nurses, doctors, and majority of the staff had already left for the holiday. The lady at the front desk was rude and unprofessional. She told my wife to come in the following Monday to give blood, just assuming it was ok for my wife to leave work at her convenience. My wife asked if this was necessary and if she could wait until her next appointment which was scheduled for the following week. The lady said that would be fine since her previous blood work was normal. We spent the holiday weekend telling our family and friends our news. Monday my wife received a phone call from the doctor's office apologizing for the mix up and made an attempt to setup a new appointment. Again she asked the lady if it would be ok to give blood at her scheduled doctor's appointment the following week since it is hard to leave work early. Again, they said it would be fine since her previous blood work was normal. Two days later she received a phone call from a nurse at Travis OB GYN. The nurse informed my wife that her blood work had low hormone levels and she was a high risk for a miscarriage. She would need to take Progesterone to help elevate her hormone levels. My wife called me crying more upset than ever before. We went to the People's Pharmacy that evening to get the medicine. At this point, I was finished with Dr. Braunstein and her lousy practice. At the Pharmacy we were full of questions. The Pharmacists answered all kinds of questions that Braunstein never took the time to answer. A new doctor was recommended to us at our request. We purchased the medicine and left. I spent the evening researching new doctor's. We called Women Partners in Health and made an appointment. We explained the situation to the new doctor's staff and they said to follow the instructions of our old doctor until our new doctor could see us, which would not be for another 10 working days. While waiting for our appointment with the new doctor my wife called Braunstein's office to inform them she would no longer be using them to deliver our baby. Again, the staff was extremely rude and insensitive. We finally got into see the new doctor. At this point our baby would be approximately 10 1/2 weeks along. We explained our past history to the doctor prior to her doing an ultrasound. She was so nice and extremely professional. Our world came crashing down a few minutes later. She informed us this was not a good pregnancy. According to her the baby stopped developing around 5 1/2 weeks the same time we saw Dr. Braunstein. We were devastated! We were told that the Progesterone most likely prevented my wife from experiencing a miscarriage naturally. We had to purchase medicine to cause a miscarriage, which lasted over five days. My wife had to go every week for the next two months to give blood until her body Progesterone returned to a normal non-pregnancy level. We had to tell our family and friends about the miscarriage. I have started to write this review many times but stopped since it was so emotionally draining. It was almost a year ago. Dr. Braunstein created a situation that caused an enormous amount of stress and pain and suffering. She is the worst doctor I have ever encountered. Our new doctor actually apologized that it took us so long to find out that my wife miscarried. She said nobody should experience what we went through. Please do yourself, family, and unborn child a huge favor and stay away from Dr. Braunstein. Dr. Braunstein??s behavior is unacceptable, especially from a medical doctor.

Pros: Bedside Manner

Cons: Waiting Room Time

Dr. Garza was my first OB/GYN. He was friendly and gentle but not a great listener. I would be asking questions and he'd jump in with answers before I could even finish, often having to change his responses when he let me continue. Several times this happened. I didn't feel like communication was all that great.

Dr. Garza was also somewhat dismissive of my concerns. After my first pregnancy ended in an early miscarriage prior to my first appt., I asked about surgery to correct the problem which had caused it. He dismissed it and made it seem like doing something about it right away was unnecessary. I was told just to wait a couple months before getting pregnant again. I did and eventually lost the baby in the 2nd trimester. He was not as compassionate and caring as I felt a dr. should be in the face of a tragedy and wanted me to deliver the baby with one of his partners while he was taking a few days vacation. I opted to wait until he could be there and he was pretty cold toward me and not of much comfort.

Scheduling with this office was horrendous. I sat in the waiting room for three hours in tears before someone saw me the very first time I went to this office. Other times, I got the run-around when it came to their scheduling issues. I'd be more specific if I had all day to write about them!

I didn't want to have to change OBs, but I couldn't see there being anything positive coming from me staying with Dr. Garza. And not that he was the entire reason for this, but I just needed a more compassionate dr. who was able to handle the high-risk stuff better than he seemed to. For your run-of-the-mill normal, healthy pregnancy, he might be great, but I didn't want to risk anymore and have to relive the experiences over again.

...Dr. Pevoto for over a decade as his practice/scope has evolved...and, while I hope he stays put for a while, I would continue to do follow him around --- he's the best. I have always preferred a female doctor, but after a few visits with him, he's stuck with me.

Additionally, while in the hospital, I learned that the staff (nurses, aides, etc.) without exception reported liking and respecting Dr. Pevoto. I think it's important to know the views of those who see and work with a doctor on a daily basis, especially in times of stress (as can be with OB situations)...and no one hesitated to share glowing opinions about Dr. Pevoto.

As an aside, I recently delivered my third baby, and met Dr. Garza (who was on rounds) for the first time. He was pleasant, gentle, and helpful.

I would highly and unreservedly recommend Travis OB-GYN and specifically, Dr. Pevoto, to anyone.

My experience was very similar to the other two who do not recommend this office. I took off work early, drove from Georgetown, and was on time. I waited for over an hour and a half, was left in a cold room with nothing on but a sheet. I overheard - through the door - that the doctor had already left. I finally got dressed, walked out in the hall to find out what was going on, and no one would even make eye contact with me. I walked to the front and asked for my co-pay back. Finally, the nurse came by and said she was just about to tell me that the doctor had to leave, but offer for me to see the nurse practitioner. I said no, and I would not be back. It would have been different if they had communicated at least some. I chose this doctor because she is in the professional building where my oncologist is (who I love). I thought it would be convenient and perhaps they would be on the same page with regard to my care. It was obvious by the looks of the office that they focus more on OB than GYN. I need someone who knows a lot about cancer and chemo induced menopause.

I used Dr. Braunstein because she's on my health plan. I went to see her at the Travis Obgyn Associates located within Seton Northwest Hospital for an annual pap smear. They made me wait for an hour in the waiting room. When I was finally allowed to come into the examination room, I had to wait for another half an hour before she came in to see me. I was informed to obtain my result by calling Quest Diagnostics at 1.800.646.9763 after two weeks from the date of the examination. I made several calls after my two weeks dateline and was informed that I cannot get the result. I called Dr. Braunstein's office to verify why I was not able to get my result, and was told to call 24-Hour Automated Test Results at 512-381-0115 instead.
I attempted to call this number and again, I was not able to obtain the result. I called Dr. Braunstein's office again and was told that a nurse will call me and give me the result. A nurse then later called me. When being asked what insurance I have, I told her my insurance. She then explained that was the reason why I cannot get my result and promised to call me back. This scenario happened repeatedly every single time I called Dr. Braunstein's office and requested to have my result. The nurse always promised to call me back with the result and no one ever did.
It has been five weeks since my pap smear test with Dr. Braunstein and I still cannot obtain the result .I'm lawfully priviledged to receive my test result. A physician should be obligated to provide her patient the result that she needs. I do not understand why is it so difficult for me to know what is rightfully mine?
I would not recommend this group, or Dr. Braunstein to anyone. You can get better service somewhere else.

I started seeing Dr. Baunstein because she was on my health plan, and I just moved here from Dallas. I went to Dr. B at her Seton Hospital location on 183. From the first appt to the last appt I had with her she was very awkward to talk to, and could not explain my abnormal pap to me and tell me what I should be doing next. When I would ask for more information about my HPV diagnosis and abnormal pap she just gave me computer printouts and sent me home with little info. I was recommended to me (at age 25) to get a Gardisil vaccine (after already being diagnosed with HPV this seemed strange), she tried to charge me the $200 out of pocket even though I had pre-auth from health ins to say they will cover it. Even though she was a "recommended provider" she was not going to honor the health plan's pre-auth. She didn't even come in to tell me this herself, she left me on the exam table (half naked) and sent in her "office manager" who began bobbing her head and telling me why they do not accept pre-auths. When I got up and dressed, I requested my chart and advised her I would be leaving the practice, because I have never been treated this way before and would not be again, she suddenly became concerned. I would never recommend anyone to go there, there's no way I would ever go to a practice she is in because if/when I get pregnant there is no way I would trust my baby to her.
