The atmosphere was really charming and the smell of smoked woods offered a lot of promise, however the food and service did not deliver on the promise we had hoped for tonight.

The waitress didn't seem to know much about cuts of steak other than, "We offer a ribeye or a flat iron steak." The best I can say is that the ribeye steak ($21.95) was flavorful, although a pretty thin cut, like the kind you would expect from a breakfast joint when ordering steak & eggs. The house salad was great, so thank God for restaurants who avoid iceberg lettuce! Unfortunately, the mushrooms I ordered ($1.95) as an additional side were actually canned! WTF?!?

We ordered guacomole & chips ($4.95) & the small bowl of guacomole was actually buffered with lettuce to make it appear as if the approx 2-3 spoonfuls of guacomole on top filled the condiment-sized cup. I travel 100K miles a year across the world & have NEVER seen this kind of trickery. At first I thought there must've been a mistake, but the waitress assured us this is how they actually serve it, so I asked for a bowl of salsa to dip the remainder of the (dry) chips into something. We were charged "$4.50 for Chips & Salsa Cup", but at least it filled the whole cup (no lettuce acting as filler). Really sad.

The ONLY red wine they had was Yellowtail and Blackstone. YUCK + OUCH = REALLY!?!? Yikes :-( There was another selection of red wine (Turning Leaf probably), but it was even more sub-par that the other two, so much that I can't even remember.

One of my daughters ordered a Chuck Burger w Cheddar ($7.90) & subbed the chips with green beans instead (a surprise $1.25 charge without notice). The burger was decent, but the green beans were literally light-brown and completely mushy & soppy. My other kid ordered the brisket plate ($10.95) with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Although the brisket was good, smpokey and tasty, it was a bit on the dry side. Even my kids pointed it before I tasted to confirm.

The clincher though, was when I ordered some soup to take to a sick friend on the way home. A bowl of tortilla soup ($6.25) was delivered in a half-filled styrofoam cup and I can't tell you how embarassed I was when I delivered this to my sick friend and poured this mushy-no-meat liquid glob in a bowl, only to fill up half of a regular sized bowl.

After spending nearly $100.00 after tax and tip, I'm kicking myself wondering why I didn't just take my kids to the Keg and have a nice steak and decent glass of wine for the same price.

Steven's is one of my favorite places to go out to eat in Mansfield for several reasons. It's owned by people who have lived in Mansfield for a long time. It's in the historic part of Mansfield, which is a treasure. It's unique. It used to be a nursery and is now a restaurant, but with much of the nursery feeling still about it. It's a very comfortable place to be. They have a full bar and the food is good. I almost always get the fish tacos. They're great. You can sit inside or outside, and they often have live music. If you just want to sit and have a glass of wine, it's a great place to be.

We've had a great experience here. Food's always served fast with an easy going atmosphere. We had a huge get together there with about 25 people and they did a great job. We had the dinner outside and really enjoyed it. There's a great selection of food- and I recommend the potato salad!

Steven's is a great family restaurant. The brisket and BBQ chicken are wonderful. The kids love the BBQ kids plate. The veggies are great too especially the mushrooms. Their wine selection is not bad. They just need a bigger selection. This is a fun place to go on a summer evening to hear a local band.

Our family loves Steve's! The kids like to play outside while we wait for our food. The food is always good and they make wonderful salsa! My favorite thing on the menu are the brisket quesadillas. We like to take out of town guests to this nice "hole in the wall" establishment.

The steaks and BBQ are our favorites. Fish tacos are also a hit! Great sides and salads, as well as appetizers. The salsa is muy bueno!

Desserts are delicious. Homemade blackberry cobbler, pecan cobbler, peach cobbler, brownie sundae, and bread pudding!
