Dishonest. Deceptive. Absolutely zero integrity. Selling used items advertised as refurbished, failing to offer any recourse for warranting their defective products short of sending it to them for "testing" with a 2-week turnaround time, and essentially forcing me to purchase a new adapter locally in order to continue to use my computer. No customer service, no business acumen, no chance I will ever purchase anything from these crooks again.

This information is being forwarded to the Texas Attorney General's office, the Austin Police Department, the Austin, TX office of the Better Business Bureau, and posted to as many websites as possible.

Buyer beware, shop elsewhere.

I ordered a battery for a laptop & when it arrived it would not fit in my computer. They charged me a 30% restocking fee. Their mistake you still pay, That's the "Jake" way of doing business. If you do business with this company, you'll most likely get to share some emails with "Jake". And you'll probably end up writing an unfavorable review on this board. Save yourself some time and make your online purchase somewhere else.Jake, might as well be an automated response. You will get nothing but refusal from him. I will never buy from this company again. I plan to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, but after reading the reviews below, I doubt that will matter much to the folks at Discount Electronics.I will also refute this with my credit card company. I only wish that I'd have seen these reviews before I bought from this non-customer focused company in the first place.

I bought a laptop battery from the online version of this store on April 21st 2009 because it was a good deal. I paid for and received the battery along with a receipt, nothing else.

The battery started to fail in mid to late July. Here was MY mistake. I did not immediately contact the store about the battery failure. I have a litany of excuses; vacation, business trip, ignorance etc. but all along i thought. "This store is an actual brick & mortar store, they'll treat me right" WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! a 'Jake' from the online division informed me it was past the 90 days. (by about 12 days) i pushed back. He referred me to the online warranty, 90 days. I asked to speak to his superior, he (jake) said no and "90 days".

What is most irritating about this experience is not that he would not bend on the 90 days, (he should have then, i would not be writing this review, but a good one) Nor is it that i was never able to talk to Jakes superior, (if you're doing a good job you have nothing to fear about this) but mostly that the battery was junk. Discount electronics sells CRAP. it's cheaper because it's cheap junk. The do not care about you as a customer, and they do not care about their name, and they do not care about their products. DO NOT BUY FROM DISCOUNT ELECTRONICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These guys are a complete joke BY FAR!!! DON'T BUY NOTHING FROM THEM!!! I bought a CD drive for a Dell Ispirion 8000 and was sent the wrong part. Was told to RMA and given a part #, nothing was sent back. I sent an email to find out where my part was, I got a response asking if it was broken when received and responded back saying it was the wrong part. I have heard nothing back and I'm out $39.00 plus shipping, TWICE!!! What a complete crock, these guys are completely useless and here sits a friends laptop, still, no CD drive. Now I have to pay out of my own pocket to buy a drive from somewhere else. So what should have been a $39.00 drive will be a $139.00 drive, absolutely unacceptable. What ever you do, don't use Discount Electronics for your parts, they absolutely are the worst company on the face of the earth!!!

WHAT A JOKE THEY ARE. Went to website and quickly found parts for my Dell system that I'm repairing by selecting the GX520 Dell Unit Number. Went to specific parts and based on their Images of the part and per the GX520 model and purchased the parts. What I received however, were completely different and WOULD NOT FIT.

I provided the Unique CN# found on each part - They sent a replacement and AGAIN they Sent the Incorrect Parts.

When I requested the CORRECT Part, they stated that I'd have to pay for additional shipping.

When I insisted on a Refund as they could not provide the Correct Parts - they stated that I had to pay a 30% Restocking Fee. $40 to restock because THEY Sent the wrong parts - TWICE !!!???

THIS IS A ABSOLUTE RIP OFF.

Called a Store to get the Manager's name for the Internet Sales Department - Only Time will tell for the result. but Based on my experience alone, I will NOT use them again.

The products arrived broken and unusable. The customer service will act friendly until you ask for something to be done... they then completely ignore you. You're better off getting the parts out of someone's dumpster, it's cheaper and you're sure to get a better item than ordering from this con artist.

Paul is a great tech and the staff at Discount Electronics are friendly and personable. never had a problem.

I ordered a printer that came in damaged. I have sent emails with pictures and left messages yet not one person in the internet sales department has reacted. After giving them several days of harrasment I am working up the chain. No one seems to know what to do when things go wrong. It appears to be a place that has great customer service through the sale but is lacking after the sale.

I live in Dallas; my daughter lives in Austin. So once a year I go to Austin and one of my stops is always at Discount Electronics. They offer great value, with lots of "stuff" to select from. I would recommend them to anyone wanting good products at very good prices. Cecil
