I went to John Eagle Honda on a Saturday, looking to buy a car. I told them what my price range was and they kept bumping it up, up, up. I finally settled on a car. I asked to see a carfax and a Kelley Blue Book value on the car. I also told them I wanted in writing that I had until that monday morning to get it checked out by a mechanic. One of their sales managers came out and said "Oh, no reason to. We check 'em. Dont worry. Blah Blah Blah." I demanded to take it to mechanic or I would leave, and the guy backed off.
When I took it to the mechanic they found not only that work had been done to the front end (which was NOT on the carfax), but that there was an oil leak, and they couldnt find the source. When my wife called me and told me about it, I started doing more research and found out that the KBB value they had shown me at the dealership was for a NEW Nissan Versa, not one with 38,000 miles and various issues (mechanical and asthetic). I confronted them about it, and they told me to bring it in. I said I was going to and they were going to rip up the contract, I had it in writing. The guy I talked to kept arguing with me (How do they know its really an oil leak? Cant we fix it? Whos your mechanic?).
I then spent the next 2 hours at the dealership with George Mason (The pre-owned sales manager), who wouldnt stop: #1 trying to get me to buy another car, and #2 talking about how wonderful he was. I have NEVER heard someone talk about how great they are. He kept telling me he's a straight shooter, hes a great guy, I'll want to come back, etc. I ended up going to Baker-Jackson Nissan and getting a better deal on the same car with fewer miles.
Stay away from John Eagle. I ended up wasting 2 days of my life AND being late back to work because the sales manager has a big mouth. Worst car buying experience of my life, hands down.
