I remember my parents taking the whole family to Aquarina Springs every time we would travel from our home in Austin to visit our grandparents in the Valley. Now, every time I travel through San Marcos I make it a point to stop and get a boat tour. The scenery brings back great memories of my youth. It's just too bad that it is not an amusement park anymore. At least, forever, I will keep the great memories of the park in my heart.

Aquarena Spings has a glass bottom boat ride. The ride has been around since Aquarina Springs used to be an amusement park, but now is a nature conservetory used by Texas State University to study the spings. The boats offer a view like no other of the naturally spring fed river. The tour guides offer a wealth of information. I wish they would bring back Ralph the Swimming Pig and the underwater Mermaids though.

You can only ride the glass bottom boats so many times before you get tired of it. After that you just walk around and enjoy the scenery.

I wouldn't recommend this. There are other things you can do in the area that would be more family fun.

PROS: Nice glass bottom boats
CONS: Nothing else to do

Aquarena Springs is a lovely outdoor place. The greenery is beautiful. Some people even have their weddings here, and when you see the place, it becomes obvious why. Glass bottom boat trips are available for entertainment and to learn more about the property. Tour guides are there to answer questions and teach about the plants and life that reside here.

Aquarena Nature Center in San Marcos was suppose to be a day trip for us. The natural fed springs can be viewed from the glass bottom boats (around $7 person). However, I was a bit disappointed that there wasnt more to do here but walk around. They did have a gift shop with some pretty cool stuff in it and the view was phenomenal but not much else. We decided to go to the Outlet Mall instead.

PROS: view is phenomenal
CONS: Not much to do but walk around
