When I picked my dog up her butt had dried feces caked to it, there was a lot and it was very noticable, it looked like it had been there for several days. How could they have missed it. Their webpage says that each dog gets a counselor, so her counselor should have noticed it. They gave her to me to take home until I pointed out the mess to the owner, then they took her to the back washed it off and sent her home with me wet. Now that area is very red and I'm sure it is uncomfortable. The owner did give me four antibiotics and told me to call her if I had any problems. However, that is not the point, I paid them to take care of my dog and clearly that did not happen. I will not be taking my dog there again. This facility is not cheap and I just expected better from them.

As an avid Dog Lover and Pet Mama for over 40 years, I can't say enough about Tailwaggers! To leave my animals has always been very difficult for me -- this facility has everything I look for in a Dog Resort. Great caring staff with long tenure, somone on the facility 24 hours, excellent grounds to play and swim if that is your baby's fancy. But most of all an owner that truly cares with a passion and love for animals that translates in everything she does.

What a fine team of passionate and knowledgeable pet care providers. I love when a disgruntled employee leaves me an opportunity to boast about this fabulous pet resort, and the wonderful people that make it the pet vacation destination that it is. All employees are required to earn their certification in pet CPR and first aid for both dogs and cats. Also the code of conduct is very strict! This employee is correct on all accounts. We try to keep the same employee with their group to better know their dogs. All dogs are temperament tested for the safety of other dogs and we will not allow aggressive pets playing in a group. We supply food for our guests unless they are on a prescription diet, at which point pet parents are cautioned to send their food in disposable baggies, but if a pet is not eating we will try chicken etc. which I cook at home. Sometimes food is left true?by mistake. Lastly?once again for the safety of your dog we will not put dogs out to play in 100 degree heat. That is why I built over 130000 square feet under a/c with a living room and play gym. We have enjoyed serving the Dallas Collin and Grayson counties for the past 15 years as your premier pet boarding facility.

Hi, my name is Lola and I am a sweet and adorable Shitzuh. I know my mom, dad, brother and sister ADORE me and so of course when they met Suzen Dennis and heard about the BEST place for your pet to have a "pet vacation" while they went on their "human vacation"....of course they called Tailwaggers. This really nice man came to my home and picked me up. I jumped in the party van and away I went. I played, ran around outside, rested and ate the best of foods. I even got a BUBBLE bath and looked so cute, my family wouldn't stop kissing me when I got home. I have to say I love my family.....but WOOFY-WOW do I miss playing with my buddies at Tailwaggers. Thank you so much for making my "pet vacation" just as fun as my family's "human vacation"....I wouldn't want them to know....but I know my vacation was BETTER!! :-)

We have used tailwaggers for many years and find their staff to be the best in the business. They are truly concerned about every pet that stays there and provides top notch care. Besides having a state of the art facility, they offer a variety of services to ensure your pet has a safe and fun stay while owners are away. In addition they offer webcams so you can check on your baby if you choose to do so!
Thank you tailwaggers for helping me and my pets to have a worry-free vacation.

We used the limo service. They picked up and dropped off on time. My elderly dog was not afraid. Upon return he was happy and not at all clingy or skittish like he's been after being boarded in the past. A good experience for him plus he had a bath before returning home so a good experience for me. The cost was less than boarding at a local vet. Win win!

I have left my dog here and found it to be WONDERFUL! The previous reviewer is annoyed that they won't take pitbulls. That makes me all the happier since I have recently had a problem with a pitbull that got loose and went to my grandfather's house and killed my grandfather's collie in his own yard! Thank you Tailwaggers for doing everything you can to keep our pets safe while they are in your care even when it means turning away revenue.

I am so pissed with this company and did not even go there. I called to check pricing on 11 day stay after a friend recommended them. They asked what kind of dog I had (should that really matter? This is a kennel, Right) I told them my dog would be a 7 month old Pit, they said she could not stay. What the heck? I would not even give them 1 star but have to to post this.....

Awesome Place TailwaggersCounty Inn
I have been taking my dogs to tailwaggers for 4 years. When we are getting close to the turn in to the kennel, my dogs get so excited to be there. When we walk into the kennel, everyone is so happy to see my dogs. I think they remember their name before they remember mine. The staff at Tailwaggers really make me feel relaxed about leaving my dogs there with them. When I pick up my dogs they are always happy to see me, but sad to leave. I can always ask the staff how they were and they can tell me everything. I would recommend this wonderful place for anyone who has dogs or cats.

I am so happy to have found such beautiful and loving place to take my furbaby to. I wanted to make sure this place was everything we would expect before i left any part of my family, so I went for a tour unannounced during a busy time. Boy was I surprised. Everyone was so organized, on their toes, and so welcoming to have us, not to mention making my little one feel at ease. I walked thru trying to find something wrong and walked out amazed. Even our furbaby wondered around like she owned the place. I think we struck gold when we found Tailwaggers Country Inn.

I kept my two mini dachschunds,Chloe & Winnie, at Tailwaggers for a family vacation last fall for 3 nights. They were treated like the little princesses that they are! Of course, Chloe still pouted when we picked her up for a few days, but we had never left her before with anyone! A day later , she forgot about her pouting & warmed up like her old self! But, they were taken for walks, played with other puppies, and were very well cared for. I can't imagine taking them anywhere else! Thank you Tailwaggers for putting us & our little dogs at ease!

we took our best friend, a 6 year old Weimaraner for the week. Our dog had a slight neck injury upon arrival and I left all of his mess, his harness )so they didn't hook up a leash to his neck), I asked that they call me is he crystal from neck pain or he gets worse. I called mid week to check on him and they said he was doing fantastic, not a peep about his injury, just that he was enjoying his time there and doing great. When our dog was dropped off at our house after his 7 night stay he could not put weight n his hind legs. His feet kept slipping out from underneath him. I called tail waggers to inquire about this injury. They claimed he arrived in this condition and figured it was a side effect from his meds. I repeatidly told the lady that he came with a minor neck problem and nothing about his hind legs. She told me she thoughts that what I meant and I had to explain to her over and over why I would be so upset about this. I cannot believe this ignorant staff members could not recognize a s
spinal cord injury that need immediate medical attention. Our dog now needs $6,000 surgery for something that could have been caught sooner. I will never, never trust my pets to a non-vet boarding facility. Pathetic you call yourself dog people and truly failed miserably at recognizing a injury. Who would assume that when a dog comes in with a neck injury and can walk just fine that he's unable to use his hind legs. Shame on you tail waggers- I will tell everyone i know about your stupidity.

We have 4 dogs and have used Tailwaggers since 2002. Our dogs are indoor dogs. When looking for a place to board, I searched and physically toured many facilities. This one by far blew all of the rest away. I am, well, picky and sensitive to where my beloved dogs will stay and what they will have to endure during their "vacation." Words can't express the relief I feel knowing they are going to this place when we have to board them. I fell in love with them when they were in their old building. If you haven't toured the new facility, please do so. I think you will be impressed. I don't keep taking my dogs to a place if I feel they are not happy. When I call, I always state my name. They start naming my dogs off immediately. I always wonder how they do that - but to me, that is great customer service and I know they care. In life, you will never please 100% of the people. You just won't. Don't rely on one person's opinion (even mine). This is a place you should tour and at least give it a try. You owe it to your awesome dogs!

??Tank? came in on Thursday, Sept. 30 and stayed overnight . I spoke with the owner when I brought him in and gave the info for his grooming. The directions I gave were short on top, and to groom him like they usually do that they always do a good job. My husband picked him up the following evening and did not even recognize him! He truly thought they had brought out the wrong dog!! He told the girl that I would not be happy and they would probably receive a phone call.

When they got home I WAS SHOCKED!!! He was shaved all over except his head, which looked like a schnauzer, even his tail was shaved! He did not look anything like my westie. I called and spoke to a young girl, that I have to say had no idea how to deal with an upset customer. I asked to speak to the owner or manager and I then spoke with the manager. She said the groomer was just following what was written by the owner and that she was gone for 2 weeks. When I asked her about the groomer she did say that it was the same girl that trimmed him last time. Why would she do this to my dog? Could she have called and checked with me to be sure that I would want him shaved??? Has she ever shaved a westie before??? I would never ask for this dog to be SHAVED! He has no fringe, is shaved so close on his underside that he looks hairless, and his tail! He looks ridiculous. I did not want to take him to see my daughter at school, but she insisted she missed him. The whole time anyone gave him attention I had to tell them that he use to be a westie before his last groom!
The manager said she would comp me 1 night and a free groom. That will not be necessary because I will not be back EVER! And you can be sure that I will share my experience with any dog owner. Three weeks have passed and every time I look at ??Tank? I get more upset!

Max & Gigi's home away from home
When we moved here 2-1/2 years ago my husband searched for a place for our dogs to stay when we travel. We had a great place in PA and he knew that I wouldn't leave them just anywhere. When he found the website and saw the pictures, we thought, "We'll give this place a try." We've never gone anywhere else! They pick up my dogs and when Max sees the van drive up in front of the house, he starts spinning around in circles. (Max is a 95 pound golden retriever so this is a big deal!) He is always thrilled to go and I know that Princess Gigi (as the staff calls her) is happy there too. The entire staff is fabulous. You may be sorry to leave your babies, but you will enjoy peace of mind in knowing that not only are they cared for, they are LOVED while you are gone.

Very clean facility and friendly staff to me and my lab. My lab loves it and I feel secure and relaxed when I am away knowing my dog is taken care of with the utmost loving environment and attention. I would give this place a 5 star and above. This place is excellent. If my lab could speak english I feel sure she would say "moma I love this place and want to come back soon."

...this is the best place to care for them when you can't!

My Girls (two blue heeler mixes/rescues) have been coming to Tailwaggers since 2004. They are excited whether I am dropping them off, or if Dennis or Frank come to pick them up in the van.

The staff is professional, experienced, and they truly love the dogs they care for. They know the personalities, likes, and dislikes of my girls. I see how my dogs react to Tailwaggers' staff, and I know that they are not only well cared for, but that they also receive personal, special attention. (Special attention for one of my girls is lots of bellyrubs, for the other, it is a lot of ball or frisbee.)

One of my dogs has severe separation anxiety that I've worked with the vet for years to manage. Due to the lack of turnover in the core staff, and the consistent routine and treatment at Tailwaggers, even my high anxiety, high energy dog does well here.

Lastly, due to the frequent travel my job demands, my girls spend from 10 to 16 days a month at Tailwaggers. Knowing who is taking care of my girls is the only thing that lets me travel without worry.

Through my experience as a former volunteer and foster parent for rescued dogs in the Plano area, I have been exposed to numerous dog daycare facilities and dogsitters. Tailwaggers is in a class of its own. Suzen, Tammy and the Tailwaggers' staff genuinely love their guests and treat them like their own. I don't know of a better place to care for my girls, and am so glad to be able to do business with them.

it. My one dog is diabetic and has a foot problem. The people at the inn take such good care of her that I'm completely at ease when I'm on vacation. They love it at the inn! Definitely recommend!! They go the distance and beyond.

Recently boarded my dog at this vacation camp for "dogs", and he came home and slept for 2 days! Had a great experience dealing with the staff, and felt good about leaving Jazz. Obviously he had a great time, and played hard. I would recommend this place for active dogs like Jazz. First Class place!

As manager of Tailwaggers Country Inn for 5 plus years I am finding humour in the fallacies of the "untrained staff" review. The gal who wrote this is a "disgruntled" ex employee, who had many issues here, and at the Animal Refuge Foundation, another former employer.Constantly tardy, no focus, no compassion for animals, fighting with co workers etc...Currently trying to run her own pet care facility...By Slandering the others?? I take pride in all of my employees..even the 1 who is a senior in high school on a work program that comes in to cuddle the babies weekly! The bitten employee..a DVM student at Colorado University..cousin of the "trainer" a wonderful employee! We do require ALL STAFF to complete level 1 accreditation thru the ABKA (American Boarding Kennel Association) and do a 2 week training session with me.We hire experienced staff to begin with, most are vet technicians. In 10 years we have grown our customer base to upwards of 5000 happy families! Please stop by to see our guests at play in small well supervised play groups!!!

In reading this review I was saddened by the experience that the Chow Chow and Pit Bull shared at the Inn! They are both wonderful dogs, and surely would never intentionally hurt another dog, or person for that matter. Unfortunately there was a dog KILLED this year at another boarding kennel by a Pit Bull, and most insurance companies will not insure kennels who board Pit Bulls..stupid! The reality is that Pit Bulls have the equipment (a very strong locking jaw, special row of teeth) to kill when tempered. As the kennel owner I am really torn...as I love all dogs. Personally I would allow my own dogs to play with Mudd & Rain all day, but I do also have to abide by the wishes of my insurance company, and other clients to keep the facility a safe place for all four legged friends to visit!!

I've never seen my dog so happy!!! Great experience with Suzen Dennis the owner of Tailwaggers. I have used for four years and find them a bargin for the personal attention given to my dog. I never worry about leaving him at Tailwaggers! Staff is like family. Thanks!!

We tavel quite a bit for work and our dog goes to daycare at Tailwaggers twice a week while we are out of town. She is always eager to go when the van comes to get her and happy when she comes home. The owner and staff are always courteous and professional. Highly recommended!

I recently boarded my dog at Tailwaggers and I thought the facility was FANTASTIC and the staff was extremely helpful, especially the owner, Suzen Dennis who cares deeply about her kennel and her customers. I really felt they appreciated my business and they were all very concerned with the well-being on my pet.

Sincerely, Janet B

I used to work for Tailwaggers Country Inn and I have to say that they do very little to train their staff when it comes to understanding body language and group play with dogs. They tend to hire high schoolers and then just throw them out into a play yard with 15 to 20 dogs to watch on their own. While I worked there one of the high school kids was severely bitten on the arm by one of the trainer's dogs, a rescue Weimereiner named Duke. I was very concerned with the incident because the trainer did not do anything to comfort the high schooler and told him he should have known better than to "push his buttons". In my mind, that child was poorly equipped for the job having received no training whatsoever. They also lie to quite a few owners on their "report cards" telling them that their dog plays very well with other dogs when in fact their dog is only let out by itself for about 3-4 5 minute sessions (with no human interaction). I also take issue with their trainer. He is knowledgeable, but he does not have viable people skills and cannot seem to explain important concepts regarding canine cognition and psychology to clients or to other staff. All in all, I think that some of the dogs that go there enjoy their stay, but I also think that many of them are socially damaged by their stay at this boarding facility.

I have been taking my two dogs to this place for about 5 years. I noticed that Mudd (a very social dog) started off loving the idea of jumping into the van with the dogs to go here. However, each time he went, he became more and more apprehensive to get in. This last weekend, he came out of his heel command (he's a very well trained dog) to run back to the house right before getting to the van. He has never run away from anything. The only time we've had a problem with him coming out of heel is when he's been too excited to meet someone but he runs to them, never away. We asked about their experience. After being told that they play by themselves, we expressed some surprise because they are the most social dogs we know. They love to play with dogs and that's why we brought them here. They then explained that they kept our dogs away from other dogs because our rescue dogs that we adopted from the SPCA happen to be a Chow Chow and an American Pit Bull Terrier. They said they understood that there was no problem with them and that they were friendly and that they've never had a problem with those breeds, but had been locking them up away from the other dogs all these years, even though they had told us otherwise in those false "report cards" they give out. So, if you have a breed that some people like to stereotype, DO NOT BRING THEM HERE. The staff is ignorant and clearly have accepted myths about breeds over facts. Obviously, this bigotry was ingrained into the staff. With this, we were allowed to pay premium price while they gave our dogs terrible care. I saw them take Mudd out of his cage and he just looked very timid and scared until he saw me. If you make the same mistake as we did by bringing your dogs here, I encourage you to take notice of how your dog acts going there. That's the only way they can communicate. Luckily, Mudd was able to communicate that he was not being treated well. Unfortunately, it's several years, and thousands of dollars too late. We have adopted two dogs that no one wanted to adopt because of ignorance. We just did not expect to find that same ignorance in a place that was supposed to have professionals. From their comments they had the most negative feelings about Mudd since he was a "pit bull".
Recently the owner just defended her position (in her review below that she submitted on her own business) by stating pit bulls (not capitalized since it's a group of three breeds not a single breed) have extra rows of teeth and have lock-jaw. The lock-jaw is a MYTH long discredited by any professional (Google it). They don't have extra rows of teeth (must be thinking about a shark). They also do not have the strongest bite as she implies (Google Dr. Brady Barr with National Geographic). As for the temperament, compare a collie or any other dog to an American Pit Bull Terrier on www.atts.org. Unfortunately, media only reports the dog bites from pit bulls since we love sensationalism. Apparently the owner has bought into the myth, not the facts, and it's trickled down to her staff. It is very reasonable for the average person to have these stereotypes, but not a "professional" that is supposed to be caring for other peoples' dogs.
The insurance company argument does not make sense. They obviously allowed the "Inn" to board our dogs. It was the Inn that mistreated our dogs, not their insurance. Since then, I have talked to a lot of kennels--to make sure we found the right place--and none of them (or their insurance carrier) had a problem with either of the breeds. They judge the temperament before excepting them instead of using blanket stereotypes.
Luckily, we found a good one (Boarding Bungalow) and it shows in our dogs' attitudes.
We are still trying to rehabilitate Mudd, though, since he developed a terrible fear of being in a crate since being boarded at this place.
Whether you agree about breed specific stereotyping or not, the fact is they lied to us for years ("Plays well with others" even though they weren't allowed to be around the other dogs) to take our money while mistreating our dogs.

Our dogs loved it here! It was clean, staff was friendly, comfortable with the animals, very organized at check-in and -out. We have been there several times for week long visits and every time we joked that our dogs were having a better time than we were! I really like that they take them out to play plenty of times a day for no extra charge

Recently had a dog escape facility. Went to extraordinary efforts to find animal, flying owners back from vacation, offering reward, posting flyers around the neighborhood, canvassing all neighbors, hiring a tracker. Dog was found unharmed holed up in a neighbors hay stack. Good work!

This is the place your pooch wants to come when you go on vacation or you just want a day for them to play. Every dog is pampered throughout the day by the friendly and loving staff. The facility has schedules for the dogs so they stay active during the day. After your pet has had an eventful stay the staff sends your dog home with a goody bag filled with baked dog treats. They even offer a pick-up and delivery service.

PROS:
CONS: Bit pricey but well worth it.
