I was simply strolling through reading reviews of the dance studio my child attends when I came across the pompous review of the one who calls herself countryclubmom. The name right there should tell you the kind of persona she tries to present. I am absolutely offended that you would refer to families as poor and you would not want your child to interact with mine, you are what is wrong with society and your kid will grow up to be just like you and your disgusting outlook on things. All the children who attend this school are wonderful kids who come from strong families. We have been with the studio for six years and absolutely adore the teachers, owner, kids, and knowledge of dance and hard work the staff instills in the students. The teams compete at the highest level of competitions and have improved dramatically since we have began, I see it in our child as well as the joy she has for dance. The staff has tremendous credentials and this includes the guest choreographers which the owner brings. As a matter of fact, one guest is now featured on So You Think You Can Dance. The studio invests in talent to improve my childs dance technicality as well as knowledge. I have zero issues with the costumes or sthe studio itself. As a parent I want my child to be pushed to max out their ability as the staff does, and nothing could be further then what countryclubmom has said about the owner. She puts in countless hours including weekends, and work at home constructing costumes, choregraphy, while running a business. She is a 10 in my book, along with the great staff. Your reference to the "F You" song is incorrect. I know this because I was there. The song was actually "Forget You" the Glee version, so I highly doubt the Glee version used Cee-Lo's original given it is a family show. So countryclubmom, I suggest you stay at the country club and enjoy your "high end" life with your fake friends and men with come over haircuts while continuing to preserve your wanna be Housewives lifestyle. GO TWDF!

We registered our daughter here because we thought it was The Woodlands Dance Academy; I assume this is why TWDF uses such a similiar name. One day after discovering our mistake we were not allowed for a refund. We had paid in full so decided to give it a try. My 4 year old had the owner as her teacher for tap/ballet. Tehnically the teacher is very good however, she is harsh, often does not show up, seems to have emotional outbursts and generally should stick to choreography. She should not be allowed with students. She had the 4 year olds dance to the Celo Green song, "F you" for their tap routine. The older girls are doing dances in hot pants without tights underneath so you get full crotch shots as they kick in the air (not the "can can" but a deliberate side split kick in air - at audience). The costumes are a pedophiles dream and the parents are told to just pay and have no say in the costumes. But it is cheap compared to the better schools and so that has its advantages. If you would like to have your child sociallizing with the people who drive 10 miles from the poorer areas so that their "chidrens" can socialize with the "rich kids" then great. But we prefer to have our daughter learn from a studio that has been built based on experience and reputation not because their parents built a metal building on the side of the freeway. Oh but if you pay more, your kid will be front row for all the performances even if they are not very talented. Upside!

Not overly impressed. Typical studio, nothing exceptional. I would recommend the instructors not get so involved in the dancers personal lives and remain neutral among parental and dancer issues. Some nice folks and others not so nice. This studio is located wonderfully off I45, so nice location. Prices are fairly consistent with other studio competition teams, but they hardly "bring down the house" at competitions. Check and compare other studios.

My daughter has danced on the competition team with TWDF since it open. The team bonds are strong and build character. Trust is something earned, not given and this studio, the director/owner and her instructors have earned our trust and respect!! If there (are/were) "mean spirited" students all the girls on the team (are/were) aware and the director (deals/dealt) with it in a positive no non-sense way. No One likes bullies, ATTITUDE and show offs in any type of classroom environment !!! It discourages the class from learning, working as a team, bonding and achieving their potential which I feel is the directors main focus. Traditional dance classes may not motivate and can become boring to competitive spirits as well as discourage them from learning any further, every child is different. My daughter is one who got bored quickly with traditional dance classes. The competition teams have kept her learning and striving to become a better dancer.
I would rather my daughter learn to deal with "mean spirited" girls in a dance class then out in the real world! Our experience has been positive....I am very proud of her dance abilities, her confidence, team spirit and all the guidance that this Studio has provided. These are skills she will take with her for a lifetime.

I only chose to provide my nickname, not because I'm embarrassed, but to protect the identity of my daughter....I'm not a fan of this studio. If you have a good experience, you will have good things to say, but obviously not everyone has the same experiences. If yours is positive...great...congrats. Unfortunately, ours was not. I did not find "some" of the instructors to be quality professionals. Some of the dancers are quite "mean spirited" This studio may win awards and accolades, as many others in the area also do, but there is much more to building a team than winning ribbons! These girls could use some "team building" etiquette. And I agree with one of the previous writers, this is a business, therefore should be treated like a business, not a club. Try a traditional dance studio like Progressions if you want your dancer to learn "core" dance "skills", and not just "dances".

There are so many choices for extracurricular activities for kids that a parent must turn a critical eye to a facility before committing their time and money. Woodlands Dance Force not only meets but exceeds all expectations. They have created a nurturing environment that is focused on technical dance training and personal growth. I am most impressed with their approach to competitions for they at once instill a desire to win and principles of good sportsmanship. I feel it's well worth the few extra dollars to know your child is getting stellar instruction.

I am a dance teacher myself (of 20 years) and recently had to find a studio for my 3 year old. I have watched Ms. Jackson grow since she was in high school, had her work with my own dance students and felt that she offered the best opportunity for my own child. I would trust no other. She is intelligent, an amazing dancer herself, exudes enthusiasm for the art of Dance as well as her students, and is bringing something GREAT to the Woodlands. The classes offered and the instructors throughout the studio are providing their students with solid technique and the latest choreography.

One of the best dance studios I know is The Woodlands Dance Force! I have been involved with the dance world most of my life and am extremely impressed with the professionalism and talent of this company. The teachers are highly educated, sincerely care for their students education in dance, and produce some of the greatest young dancers I have ever seen. As an adjudicator, professor of dance, and professional performer, I would recommend The Woodlands Dance Force studio to anyone so they can experience the amazing staff and also the owner, Regan Jackson. Miss Jackson has a true passion and belief for the art of dance, and anyone who has the chance to experience her teaching qualities or any of her staffs' classes will have an amazing moment in learning about the wonderful world of dance! The studio offers many different styles and accommodates dancers of any age. Custom choreography ranges from solos to group routines, and it is always creative and crowd pleasing! I have had the opportunity to see The Woodlands Dance Force perform and WIN at contest - they are fierce! I highly recommend this dance studio!

This is a great school with highly trained and technical, yet warm hearted teachers. I have known Regan Jackson since she was a child. I have had a dance studio for 32 years and I know she is one of the best! This is the studio to go to if you want great classes with great teachers!

My daughter absolutely loves TWDF, the director, and her entire staff. We are beginning our 6th year with this studio, and it is an honor to continue to share in it's growth. I don't believe TWDF is "money hungry". It is a fact that all businesses are "for profit". Otherwise, it is considered a "charity". TWDF is not a charity organization. Therefore, it's clients are expected to make good payment for the services they receive.

My daughter has danced at TWDF since it began and has had a wonderful experience. If it wasn't a first rate company we would find a home elsewhere. You cannot find a more talented group of instructors anywhere in this area. They are in tune to each dancers needs and see that they grow in dance each and every day. We are thrilled to be there and hope to stay until college.

I agree, the first review sounds like sour grapes to me-maybe that is why the writer chose to remain anonymous. My two daughters have been members of The Woodlands Dance Force since its founding 5 years ago. My daughters have been involved with dance/drill teams and studios for the past 16 years. TWDF is the 3rd drill team that they have been members of and I can testify to the fact that the facilities are first rate ( three generous- sized classrooms, plus a competition-gym sized floor and two other rooms- all with wood floors, which is the surface the Girls compete on - they had to dance on carpet at the other locations, and travel/pay fees to practice their routines on gym floors before competition season), the fees are no more than others and less than most, and most importantly, the training and choreography skills of the staff are without compare in The Woodlands/Houston area. If you want your child to grow into a beautiful dancer, who can feel and interpret the music, and really appreciate dance for the performing ART that it is, rather than just perform trick after trick, The Woodlands Dance Force is the place for them. The staff has also made trips to New York City and the Broadway Dance Center an annual event, not to mention the numerous convention camps that the team has attended and plans to attend. The Woodlands Dance Force is World Class.

My daughter enjoyed her time at TWDF for many reasons, mainly the caring staff and wonderful instructors. The parents are involved and supportive and the dancers really learn a lot and enjoy their classes. The new studio has more room and is very functional. The owner is amazing and full of energy and excitement about dance.

I have gone to the TWDF for dance classes and solo choreography. And my experience was great! They stay in business because all the people involved are awesome and really care about the students they teach. This business could not run on ownership alone. To make it work there has to be fundraisers and parents who are willing to get involved with their kids' activities!
I had the privilege to attend the end of the year recital and it was GREAT! All the dancers from ages 3 to college age were phenomenal! You could tell all the students really enjoyed and respected their dance instructors for everything they did all year long.
The trip to New York was awesome as well!

One of the most basic and mandatory requirements that a parent has in choosing any extra-curricular activity for their child is the safety of any such activity. The safety and well-being of a child is of the utmost importance to any parent. No parent cares how great a dance studio is, if it causes harm to their child. How great can they really be anyway if they make their dancers dance on dangerous floors that can cause serious and possibly permanent damage to the dancers. They claim to have "state of the art dance facility", but that is obviously misleading to say the least. My daughter has been dancing for nine years on good quality, floating dance floors (thank God) for the first eight years. However, this past year we ended up at TWDF (The Woodlands Dance Force) due to an unfortunate merger of our studio and theirs. In my daughter's first eight years dancing on the floating floors she did not have a single dance injury nor did any other girl in the entire studio that I am aware of. In fact, she never had any complaint other than maybe some sore muscles. We had no idea just how fortunate we were to have her dancing on the industry recommended floating dance floors all of those years. In just one short year at TWDF everything changed drastically for the worse. In hardly no time at all our daughter was suddenly complaining about her back, knees, ankles and feet hurting, and so on. For the first time in her life; we had to take her to the Doctor due to a dance related injury in her back/spine. We ultimately ended up taking her to a chiropractor once or twice a week for numerous weeks. Finally, we decided it was in our daughters' best interest to take her out of dance at the end of April. Consequently, she didn't get to participate in the recital which was really upsetting to her. However, she did agree with us that it was for her own safety and well-being. We did not want to risk causing any further injury to her still growing and delveloping body.

Pros: Good Instructors

Cons: Bad Dance Floors, Dangerous Dance Floors, Unacceptable Dance Floors

This studio was built just over a year ago, but they didn't bother to put in proper dance floors! There is no excuse for this! They obviously don't care about their dancers bodies. They are money hungry, greedy, and will nickel and dime you for everything! I don't see how they stay in business. Please pass on this info to anyone considering going there.
