OK...so, I recently went through a total hip replacement surgery. Prior to having the surgery. I had several magnet sessions with Emma and felt significant relief from my discomfort. But, finally the day arrived where I had to have the surgery. I was told to expect a good six week period to begin walking and getting some sense of normalcy. I was inpatient for three days and discharged home to do physical therapy at home. I was off all pain medication TWO days after surgery! And I started walking without any aids two days short from two weeks out of surgery! My doctor and Physical therapist were totally surprised...my progression was "exceptional". I am swimming, walking, riding a bike and driving four weeks out of surgery! AND no pain meds! Emma and Araceli are an exceptional team. They went above and beyond the call of duty. They came to do the hospital to give me therapy and continued to do so at my home after I was discharged. I have no doubt that my healing was cut in half because of their work.
I cant explain what exactly it is. I have been going to Emma for haircuts for a while and it goes without saying she is great, but I had NO idea of all the other services she offers. I am glad she insisted on me trying out the magnet therapy and healing sessions. I am so grateful and whole heartedly recommended to all!

I recently changed my hairstylist and i came to shear design . I love this salon it has a very calm and relaxing atmosphere! My hairstylist Priscilla did a amazing job on my hair. It is so hard to to find an African American hair stylist in Houston who actually knows how to do hair.. when I say do hair I don't mean just gluing some tracks in your head, she actually takes the time out to do what is healthy for your hair. From my weaving to my highlights and my haircuts she does a fantastic job!!!!! Priscilla does all types of hair shes multicultural!!She is very passionate about her work! That's why i don't mind driving from Katy,TX to Pearland,TX to get my hair done. And her prices are very reasonable!!!!!!!!! And when I get more than one service done to my hair she gives me a great discounts!!!!

I'm a 15 year old girl who has been going to Emma at Shear Design since I got my first hair cut. I don't trust anyone else with my hair. Emma always gives me what i want and I always love it! One time she fixed my hair after I tried to be like her and cut it my self. Shear Design is the place to get ur hair the way u want it!!

Doctors had told me after radiation and therapy that there was cancer in my bone area and to think of having another surgery in the same area it was more than I can take. I started taking your energy healings and after 6 treatments or so the doctors took another scan and they could not find a thing and they were amazed at how strong my body was and how I was healing faster than other cases they had with the same type of cancer. So the doctors cancelled my operation since they could not find anything anymore. . I feel completely different, there is something definitely happening during my energy healings you leave my body feeling completely relaxed. It has been 9 months since my last radiation, they still cant find anything. I know it must be the healings. Youll never know how much I appreciate the love you have put in my case. The doctors were not surprised to here what I was having done with you because they have heard about it before. I wish more people have the faith to believe that God can work through the loving prayers of an energy healing. Give it a chance your faith will never be the same. God bless you Emma!!!!!!!!! Emma you don't know how much I thank you for what you did for me. After the Doctors told me I would be in the hospital for more than two days I felt more than overwhelmed, but then you came along and did an energy healing on me and i got to leave the hospital that very day after my heart surgery! Should I add got to eat my Whataburger just the following morning!! Thankyou so much Emma, and keep on having that big heart, kindness and compassion!

I absolutely love Shear design, they have all the latest and the BEST haircuts, Emma is a true professional when it comes to hair, makeup, waxing, etc. I can't imagine going somwhere else, then Shear Design, it's the best. And the only person i can trust with my hair is Emma and Carlos, They truly have a talent and are very unique when it comes to beauty. great reflexology, it made me feel like a queen!! I cannot wait for my next appointment!!

I have been going to Shear Design for over 4 years - I have very thin,flat hair and Emma is the only person who can work with it to make it look great! I love the shine and body I leave the shop with! Last week though, I tried energy balancing, I didn't know what it was but I had been hearing about it for quite a while now, and since I'm trying to keep an open mind so I decided to give it a try. Let me tell you, it is truly UN-BE-LEI-VA-BLE! I didn't have any pain or health problems, and it made me feel just so clean! inside and out, and happy and greateful - just amazing! I definitely recommend it, give it a try and I bet you'll agree!

Emma is a true magician when it comes to hair. Whether it's cut, color, hilights, or updos, she is the one to see! I've watched her fix many bargain haircuts from those "other places". She works with her usual good humor and compassion, and creates a wonderful, warm and unique atmosphere. There's always something interesting being discussed in the comfortable waiting area as guests mix and mingle. She offers so many modalities, waxing, permanent makeup, energy balancing, reflexology, and biomagnetic therapy. These all work together to make Shear Design a one-stop shop for feeling better, and feeling better about yourself! I always look forward to my appointments, because I leave feeling better than I did when I came in!

Wow! I had a magnet therapy session today and let me tell you it was out of this world! I am such a skeptic but this has made a true believer out of me. I have some serious muscle skeletal issues and in just one session I was able tell the difference, not to mention the added bonus that I felt. I got so relaxed and went into a deep sleep! I recommend this to all. I certainly will be back for more....thanks Emma!

Emma is a true master stylist. But i knew that already. She's been taking care of me, hair, skin, waxing for more than 20 years.today she did something that was totally fabulous, a type of magnetic healing that left me totally rejuvenated! my neck and back pain went away like magic, plus i look great like always. inside and out. thank you

I get my hair done, highlights/lowlights and cut by Carlos. Every time I leave there I am 110% happy with my hair! I've never left dissatisfied. Carlos is very professional and still personable and always gets what it is that I want for my hair. He always takes good notes and his methods work best! Besides all of that, he has good prices as well, the same cost, if not cheaper than, inferior places. In the past I went to different places for various reasons, the shop was more conveniently located, or the hair stylist was a friend of a friend. Each time I left the other places unhappy and then returned to Carlos at Shear Design to fix me, and he always did! I learned my lesson, stick with the guy who always gets it right!!!

I have been a customer of Emma's for many years. She is a great stylist with an artistic mind. She cut my hair short and I never went back to long hair. Now she does my color too. She also helped me convince my husband to experiment with his haircut (cut it short) and he loves it now and he looks great. Shear Design has warm friendly atmosphere and excellent service.

I have been a customer of Emma's for 22 years. I will never go to anyone else. I have short hair and it needs to be trimmed every 4 to 6 weeks, I have gone over 8 weeks because I was out of town and WOULD not go anywhere else. She has great ideas about your haircut and color.

I had the most amazing experience with Emma's magnetic healing sesions. I felt very relaxed and refreshed after the 1st and 2nd session. The 3rd session was profound. My energy felt the clearest it had ever felt.
I am looking forward to my 4th session.

I would like to share this review , I had a wonderful Hi-Lite & Haircut w/sue at Shear Design , she processed my color w/ an enzyme developer that process in 15 minutes and is healthier for my hair, the shine is fabulous . She was very professional , you can tell that she has 30 yrs. experience .

This place and the people are great. Carlos does are great job. Everyone is so nice and makes you feel welcome and comfortable. I have been to almost every place in Pearland and have been made to feel like I was bothering them for doing there job. I came back to Shear Design because not only do they do great work, they treat you like they want your business. Don't waste you time going anywhere else.

I just moved to pearland , looking for a stylist to cut and hi-lite my hair . I picked sheer design because of its ratings , I met Sue a hairdresser from New York with 30 years experience . i also liked the atmosphere of the salon . I have been going to Shear Design for over 8 years now and Emma has always done a great job on my hair. She saved my hair from several "cheap" hair salons and I have never gone to anyone else since. In the past 3 years Carlos has been added to the Shear Design team and I really love the way he cuts hair. When ever Emma is not available or is out Carlos always comes thru for me and I have to say, sorry Emma I still love ya, but I find myself asking for Carlos more and more. Emma, thank you for adding Carlos to your team and you will be cutting my hair as well.

Carlos is awesome!!! Since I have been going to him I will not let anyone else touch my hair! I recently moved to the North side of Houston but I drive to Pearland just for Carlos. My color always turns out so pretty. Always bright blonde, never brassy. My natural color is dark brown and you would never be able to tell =) When I tell him to "trim" my hair he knows what I mean. He doesnt cut off 4 inches like most hairdressers end up doing when you say trim!! He is great at what he does.

The magnetic therapy was great and worked, my ears had been popping and making me feel dizzy for well over a month. I went to Emma's Salon for a hair cut, in conversation and by the time I walked out Emma had done a treatment of magnetic therapy. After three receommended treatments all the ear symptoms were gone. I have also been to the salon for several other services, relexology, healing, and facial. I have been so happy with all of the services, I just cant see myself ever going anywhere else. Emma is wonderful and has such a wonderful and positive personality. I have every intention of going back for some acid reflux issues if have had. I cant wait for the positive results.

I went to Shear Design for a haircut, I did not expect to hear that I could not only get a great haircut but walk out pain free. Within 20 minutes of Emma placing these magnets in my body, the pain in my knees and back went away. Look forward to more treatments. I highly recommend this salon, it has services unlike no other. I travel with my husband's work so I visit lots of hairdressers. I am always nervous going to a new salon. Sue cut my hair and gave me highlights and lowlights. She did a great job and I recommend her to anyone looking for a great hairdresser.

Emma definitely has healing hands. I went to Shear Design with a killer pain on my back, and we got to talking and I told her about it, she offered a reflexology, Not only was it the best foot massage I have ever had, but it also got rid of my back pains completely with only one session.

Emma I went to your other services link to buy the holograms for pain like the one you gave to me at your salon. I'm impressed my pain its gone I definitely encourage anybody w/ pain to try them. They're amazing!!!

I experienced the AMAZING facial that usually runs for $150 for less than hals that cost! This stylist has a great touch and a knack for making you feel comfortable. I also received a hair trimming so fast, definitely a pro at work . . . thx Emma, I'll be back!
I recommend this salon to anyone in Houston or surrounding vicinities. (ask for the facial with "NuSkin" it STOPS the aging process, wow).

Wow! I was so impressed with Emma...She is great. I went for a haircut and was very pleased with her services. She did a great job, she was always smiling and friendly I felt right at home. I also had a Nu Skin treatment and left looking 10 years younger! (NO KIDDING!!!) I cant believe it with only one treatment ...Best kept secret, the price was a third! of what I pay in my neck of the woods. Well worth the drive from midtown Houston!...I am hooked! Awsome place all around.

twenty years of experience really have paid off.
i dont trust just anyone with my hair im really sensative, the only person i trust is Emma. All i have to do is show her what i want and she leaves me looking how i exactly how i wanted but better. She knows what fits every person and is wonderfull at giving advice, from great cuts to colors she knows what shes doing. Im 14 and really into style, each time i go to emma she leaves my friends astonished by either the style or the color, shes the kind of stylist that leaves my friends asking where i get my hair done, and even when i say its 30 minutes from home, they say its worth the drive. i live in houston around 30 minutes from her shop, but i can say right now it is totally worth the drive. i love you emma your the best.

You have to go here to get a brazillian wax! Emma is BY FAR the best! I have been to a couple other places and no one even comes close to how good she is. The quality of the wax and her way of waxing is a lot less painful than other places. She is very professional and makes you feel comfortable. Try it once and I promise you will never want anything less!!

Emma has been doing reflexology (foot massages) for me the past four weeks. It is very relaxing, relieves stress and I feel much better afterwards. It does help alleviate the pain for a period of time. I have known Emma since she opened her business. She cares for her clients. She embraces life with an eagerness to learn and to share that knowledge with those around her.

Emma was my wife, Lynda's beautician for 6 years until she passed away 2 years ago. Emma is not only a exceptionally talented beautician, but was her friend. When she passed away, Emma volunteered to fix her hair and do her face make-up. All her friends and family commented what a excellent job she did. I have been going to Emma for hair care for 5 years and I would not go anywhere else. If you are looking for a great looking hair care, Emma is your best choice

I have been to dozens of places to get brazilians and this is by far the best. I was amazed. The lady who did it was really friendly and took her time, which made me feel even more comfortable. She never double dipped and the room was really clean. I could tell she knows what she is doing and she even recommended a cream that helped making the process less painful and really do last longer. It was the least painful brazilian i've ever had, I highly, highly recommend this place to everyone.

My family and I have been customers at Shear Design for over 11 years and we've always been happy with the service and personnel. The salon was remodeled a few years ago and the owner did a great job. The cost of a hair cut/style is competitive with other salons and the quality of the cut/color is great. The salon has a nice, comfortable atmosphere where you can be yourself. I definitely recommend Shear Design to anyone who wants a great style, good conversation and a friendly atmosphere.

I've been a customer at Shear Designs for over five years. I wear my slightly curly "white" hair short, very short, which requires skillful hands and a critical eye. I am not 20-something. My cuts are consistently good. No, this is not a Galleria spa or shop, but it is comfortable and clean. And you don't have to wait two weeks for an appointment. Prices have gone up since I started going there five years ago, but what hasn't...gasoline has doubled. P.S. I happen to know the hairdressers referred to in the previous reviews no longer work there, so check it out now.

I used to live in the Galleria area and went to a salon over there that wasn't the greatest looking, but the owner did a great job on my hair. After moving to Pearland I found this place and Sylvia. I pay about the same (around $100 for hi-lites) as I did in the Galleria, which seems high for out here, but my hair looks great. I don't think you judge a hair salon on the design of the building. It's how well they fix the do! Everyone is nice and the place looks like a small town country everyone knows ya kinda place!

I agree with the previous review. I think they make their prices up as they go. The woman charged me $65 for a simple haircut & blow dry. No wash, no style. I did not ask the prices up front but I certainly did not expect anything over $40. I almost choked. The cut was fine but nothing special and I had to listen to this woman tell me about her "baby" (dog) the entire time. Go to "A Cut Above" in Friendswood (by HEB). It is worth the drive. The girls are good, they listen and take their time. A wash, cut, blow dry and style was only $35.
PROS: hair cut was fine
CONS: overcharging
