Lucy In Disguise With Diamonds

Cannot beat this store for selection. You can rent and buy costumes and vintage clothes. Staff are helpful with an attitude (just stop being so needy and you'll get along fine). Was great for my Halloween costume but I think they are especially useful for the year-round occassions. Amazing 'vintage' accessories. Lots of costumes that do not make you look like a stripper (and many that do).

I went in to look for some specific halloween makeup and even though it was very crowded the staff was extremely helpful and very quick. They have huge selection of everything costume related that you can think of. They have good costumes but are way over priced. don't go there expected to spend less than $40 for an entire outfit.

Lucy is Disguise is a great costume shop where you are likely to find just what you need. They offer some great quality costumes and you can either rent or buy them. They are pretty pricey though, so be sure it is what you want, and that you can't find it anywhere else. The staff is great at helping sizing and they explain the rental agreement really well.

I remember stepping in to Lucy in Disguise when I was in highshool, and the first thing I remember thinking was "this is definitely cool." Lucy in Disguise has an amazing selection of costumes for any occasion. Everytime I have gone in, they always help me find exactly what I want, and do a great job of giving me little suggestions to make the costume even better.

Whether you're looking for a bizarre Halloween costume or just need some humor in your life, you'll find something to wear at Lucy in Disguise. You can spend a whole afternoon trying wigs and wacky accessories. There are also tons of clothing to rent for any occasion and taste, whether you want to impersonate a serial killer school girl or show up to your next date as Tarzan.

PROS: Lots of fun, great selection
CONS: Can get a little stuffy and overwhelming

Half-costume store, half-rummage sale, total sensory overload - that's Lucy in Disguise. The front room is packed with rack after rack of costumes. Most are available for either purchase or rent. There are tons of accessories at various counters around the store. In the back room is a huge selection of masks and props. (Need some angel wings, they have like six styles to choose from.) They have racks of boas, tons of wigs, shoes, jewelry, you name it.

The people working in the store and generally casual and helpful. It can be a little crazy in there and they are excellent at helping you find exactly what you're looking for.

If you have some time to kill and you're in the South Congress area, definitely stop in and just browse (it can take hours and it's sheer joy!) Parking can be a little tricky since it's right on Congress, but with some patients (and a good eye for availability on the side streets), you shouldn't have too much trouble.

PROS: Great location, amazing selection, very fun store!
CONS: It's in south Austin
