Have gone to this shop twice before for oil changes... convienent and cheaper than going to the VW dealership.. they pick up the oil filter at the dealership for me to do the oil change... happy for that.... UNTIL an hour and a half after picking up the vehicle my car overheats while I am traveling south of Navasota by myself in the dark!! Real nice! I was assured they had topped off the vehicle fluids. Funny thing is the resevior for the coolant was EMPTY!!! What the heck!?? Of course I called them and I was told there wasnt much they could do since I was so far away.... are you kidding me!? I didnt expect them to drive an hour to fill up the resevior they should have already done( they apparently drained it!) But I did expect the manager to apologize and look into the fact that thier technicians are not doing thier jobs! And perhap AT LEAST off a free oil change in the future... but no problem, I don't plan on going back!! Real sad, because I had been there severeal times before, Now have to hunt for another place I can trust!!

: Drove to shop with an emergency - key would not turn and allow the engine to turn off - estimate of $80 best news, $200 worst. So go ahead was given after driver called home for my permission. - driver was my granddaughter, pregnant and due in 2 days so quick service was a priority with us. After about 2 next day they called to say that key had damaged cylinder in steering column and would cost about $250 so in shock said go ahead. Then hours later called me to say they needed original key (key that jammed was a dup I had made at Ace Hdw- not their fault)
Came to pick up orig key - car would be ready in about an hour - two hours later still not ready and now they say orig key looks too used and would probably give same trouble sooner or later and that a locksmith would cost $150. Called my son and he said call dealer and get a
dup key - quoted $33 - called First Tire - they located a dealer closer to them for a $22 key - told them to go for it and to hurry.
They finally got new key for $4 plus a 2nd one for $4 (far cry from their suggestion to get locksmith for $150! Right?) Anyway finally got car home after having to call ambulance to get grand-daughter to hospital just in time! By the way no one asked if I had a coupon which they did - ad on back of Foodtown grocery receipt for 10% off of any service AND this is the only time I have had a car in somewhere for repairs returned to me with dirty windshield - this occurred at their shop during a rain storm and dust and dirt splashed up on glass - was very hard to see thru on way home. Oh well - service isn't what it used to be is it?

Had my car AC repaired here, I paid over a thousand dollars to have it done which is a bit too expensive but service was good. I never had to call to make a follow-up, they keep me updated. Stewart was very nice.

"These guys diagnosed my problems and solved it well. Saved me money I would have wasted at the BMW dealership. I work with Schlumberger (about 1 mile from First Tire)... and I have told lots of my colleagues about this place. They even offer a 10% discount to my company's employees."

The review above... I wrote on the 25th of August 2008. The AC that was repaired on that day crapped out 2 weeks later, and I went and spoke with the manager who assured me I should bring it back at my leisure for them to re-service based on the 12-month warranty they gave me. In any case, when I got back there I met another manager who told me that what had been done earlier wasn't a proper repair job, but just a check. He explained that the AC had to fail again for them to actually (based on the die they had put in the Freon) determine what was wrong.

As strange as this sounded, I wondered allowed why I wasn't told this in the first place.

In any case, I went ahead and and asked them to go ahead and repair the AC. This was a 2004 BMW X3 (3.0 litres)... the charges came to $1768.23 after they had applied my 10% corporate discount. I felt I had been fairly treated... next day I called BMW to check the prices on the parts they had changed out(compressor, dryer and expansion valve) only to find out that they had marked up the prices by as much as 23%. And this is in addition to a $524.70 for labour. I called the manager (Marvin) and he informed me that they had a business to run... and that they had to make money to keep the place running.

It is so sad that these guys turned out to be quite deceitful. I had been taken in with them at first... thinking they were a good and honest shop, but it turned out to be different.

O well... I leave you to make up your mind whether to go there for your service or not.

I have been using these guys since BEFORE I moved to Sugar Land. They can be trusted to do what it takes to repair your vehicle to your satisfaction. I recommend them to all my friends. They now have 3 locations (Williams Trace, Eldridge Road, and Hwy 59 @ 99). All are great and can be trusted. They do good work, and the owner Craig Popp gives back to the community through Little League and other ways. I recommend them without reservation.

My tire busted on highway 6 and this place made my day when I found out tires are not as expensive as I thought. Using my spare tire, this was the first place I found and it was great. The bill was not that expensive and they helped me get a new tire in. They also threw in a free checkup! Great service, great price, go here if in trouble! They have a great selection to choose from, too. If you want rims, you can get rims here

When my husband was out of town and I needed my car serviced I saw an ad for First Tire and the line that struck me was that they were , "trusted by women everywhere". That seemed odd for a mechanic so I went to see for myself. Well, the ad was right . Not only were the mechanics and attendants friendly, professional and polite but they were also trustworthy, honest and provided me with a fair and reasonable price. The facility was clean and safe and I was impressed when they told me to come back if I found things werent working properly. They took good care of me and earned my turst by assuring me that the problem would be fixed within the time span specified, at a fair price and with no hassle or salesmanship! A great full-service auto center!

PROS: trustworthy,reliable,great work
CONS: none

The staff at First Tire and Automotive are really kind and honest. They explain everything that needs to be done including the billing. I really appreciated the time they took to make sure I was comfortable with what was being done. I would recommend them to any of my friends in need of auto repair.

Ladies take note! If you want to feel comfortable getting your vehicle fixed without wondering if you are going to get ripped off with unnecessary repairs, then go to First Tire and Automotive. They diagnose first, then outline what exactly needs to be done and the costs of the repairs. They are competitive in price and I like knowing I can go to one place for practically all my vehicle maintenance from inspections to tires to oil changes.
