We, a party of 4, attempted dinner on a Saturday night. The wine list is nearly entirely Californian wines which are marked up to the tune of 500-800% (normal restaurant markup is closer to 300%) - which means a $10 bottle of wine is costing you $80 here. If you're thinking cocktail - a martini is likely to cost $40.00!
The food: wedge salad is not a salad at all but rather a cup of salad dressing dumped on the lettuce wedge. The sides are nothing creative and include creamed spinach, creamed corn, etc. They also double up the "cream" as the universal topping on all the seafood dished. The steaks were not prepared at the correct temperature and ended up tasting dry and leathery.
The service: the waiter's desire to "upsell" was egregious. If you order Jack Daniels, he tries to sell you Makers and if you order fish, he tries to sell you lobster. If by chance you don't go with his recommendation, here come the "funny looks" and "sotto voce" comments all night long.
All in all, the restaurant has little to offer. Value, flavor, and service are entirely missing and leaves us feeling like we're left holding a three pronged fork.

Pros: Ambiance - marginally. Bread.

Cons: Wine list, food and above all service

I went with a group of girl friends, which can sometimes mean lackluster service from the waiter, but not here. He helped us pick the perfect bottle of wine to complement our meal (and not break the bank) and really helped to make our experience memorable. The fact that you don't have to pay extra for sides meant we all got to enjoy an after dinner drink. Gotta love Dolce!

Pros: Best Steak in Dallas

.

My favorite restaurant in Dallas. Best steaks and cuts of meat and you MUST try the peppercorn sauce! The service is always good and the food is always perfect. I get a small fillet Mignon and have never been disappointed. The chocolate mousse is to die for! The nearest thing to a complaint is that their bread leaves a million crumbs but is still delicious. The place is pricey but worth every cent for special occasions or just the need to feed on great steak!

One of the best steak house in the Dallas Fort Worth area. Valet parking available. This is the kind of place you go to for a special occasion or when you want to impress some one. A bit pricey.

What a great place to celebrate our daughter's 14th birthday! They treated her like a queen, and Mom & Dad got to come along for the ride. Had our picture taken. She received a "III Forks" silver, sheriff's style pin. Somlier gave us a unique, personal tour of the entire facility, especially the temperature controlled wine room. Fabulous food - love that lobster! Very attentive service - and even a handsome, friendly Plano graduate for our primary waiter. The problem is we want to go back all of the time!

I have been to III Forks on a number of special occasions and I have YET to encounter a bad meal. Expensive? Yes, but worth every penny and then some. I have been to the majority of steak houses in Dallas and there is really no comparing. The interior is elaborately posh with the Grand Piano playing as you walk in. The wait staff is always professional and very helpful. If your looking for a great dining experience or a place to celebrate a special occasion, then look no further.

Pros: Best steak in town!!

Cons: Haven't had any bad experiences

I wanted to try III Forks for my birthday this year. I had heard about it from a number of friends and we gave it a try...and am I ever glad we did. THe interior reminded me of a great old upscale Texas place (think JR Ewing and Miss Ellie) with big band music from eras gone by in the background til the live music began. Our server showed great attention to detail! I ordered the III Forks salad (OMG, was it grande!), the smaller Filet (excellent cut of meat and seasoned to perfection with a crust on the outside and tender on the inside)...my husband had the Lobster Bisque (which he thought was outstanding) and the bone in ribeye. For dessert we had the 6 layer Texas Pecan cake...and it was marvelous. My experience here made me have a great appreciation for gluttony. From entrace to exit...everything was absolutely delectible. I have eaten at a number of steak houses from upscale to shouldn't be open, and this was one of the best dining experiences I have enjoyed in a while. It was pricey, but not out of line for this type of restaurant. I would go back in a heartbeat!

Three forks is an amazing special occassion location. We go every year for my birthday for a splurge and leave completely stuffed every time. You have to start with the lobster bisque - SO good!! Any of the steak options are great and the best is for dessert - Three Forks complimentary house made irish cream alcoholic drinks for the whole table! A perfect finish for the perfect birthday celebration!

Hands down this is probably one of the best steaks I've eaten. I've eaten here numerous times, and yes they have the occasional bad night, but overall very consistent. Steaks have excellent flavor and are very tender. Best of all, the entrees actually come with sides! Sides consist of snap peas, mashed potatoes, and melt-in-your-mouth creamed corn. You can't go wrong with a III Forks salad, and I highly recommend the beef croustades as an appetizer. For dessert - get the bread pudding - delicious.

The dining rooms look like they were designed by Miss Kitty from Gunsmoke, very gaudy and not really my taste. The salads were OK but the steaks were below average. Granted, we were there on the night of the OK football game and children were running amok all over the restaurant but I still won't return.

We've gone here several times for our anniversary & to take out of town guests.
The place is very impressive & gives you a warm & fuzzy feeling. With the fire place going and the singing & piano playing. The steaks are very good & they make sure they are cooked to your specifications.
It is not the place to go if you are on a tight budget. so if you are an average Joe like us, think of a special time, save up & treat yourself.

OMGsh the salad is fabulous. Candied Pecans, Granny Smith Apples, a light flavored crumbled blue cheese and a dressing to knock your socks off. The steaks are cooked to perfection and even the fresh tomatoes and green onions are tasty. This is a great place if you got money to spend.

Went here with the in-laws for a special occasion meal and we were amazed to say the least! yea, it's WAY expensive but def worth every cent! The III Forks salad is the best tasting salad I have ever had anywhere and my entree' ... Mmmmm, I had one of the specials for the night which was beef tenderloins covered in a gorgonzola cheese and herb sauce and with grilled prawn atop it all. The veggies were a bit bland but the main course and the salad make my mouth water still. The service was incredible! Very helpful, but also a bit pushing the $$$ stuff. I felt like a princess at this place and the food and service were exceptional. Make reservations before going - we were seated within 10 minutes of our arrival.

Our trip to III Forks was on Valentine's Day. I decided to take my fabulous boyfriend to a super-posh restaurant. This is the kind of restaurant you should make reservations up front, and by all means make reservations on romantic holidays. For holiday reservations you will have to give them a credit card for collateral, just in case you don't show up. I made my reservations three weeks in advance, and I recommend you do the same for holiday dining. We waited a good 90 minutes after our scheduled time for reservations before we were seated, but that's expected cause it's Valentine's Day.

III Forks does offer valet service, but there really is no point in using it unless you're trying to impress others. I say there is no point to it, because the normal parking lot is right next to the restaurant.

This place is posh! Imagine a crazy Texas oil tycoon decides to open a steakhouse, and you'll get a pretty good idea of what III Forks looks like inside. The lobby is decorated with paintings, model ships, swords, and 18th Century firearms. Their indoor patio has a fountain. They won't kick you out for not wearing a suit, but a suit is encouraged. On Valentine's Day there was a pianist near the bar playing lounge music.

In the bathroom instead of paper towels, there are cloth towels to dry your paws with. When I got back from the bathroom five minutes later, my napkin was neatly folded on the table.

Our server was very personal, acting like we were the only customers in the restaurant. She always had hot fresh bread available. Our water glasses were always full. Between courses she would come and quickly scrape up any crumbs from the previous course. I hope she is paid well for her services.

The meal itself was fantastic. The unlimited bread served was perfect, warm with a crispy outside and soft inside. We each had a III Forks salad, with a lush green vegetable medley and a maple pecan vinaigrette dressing, to start. It was the best salad I have ever had. The next course was a New York strip steak with peppercorn sauce. This was quite excellent peppercorn sauce, because they used whole peppercorns, giving a nice spicy kick to the meal. The mashed potatoes were buttery and the vegetables fresh and tasty. For dessert we shared a chocolate mousse. It was wonderful, as always. Sure people stared at us, but we get that anywhere we go.

Dinner for two with tip cost us $150, but I have to say it was all worth it. Take your love here and they will love you forever.

This place was wonderful! No special occasion - my husband and I just like to try new restaurants. Several different rooms to choose from that you can request when you make a reservation. You can look at the different rooms at www.3forks.com and get a menu. We started with the infamous III forks salad. It was the best salad I have ever had. My husband had the lobster bisque which was also great. Then we both had steaks. He had the ribeye and I had the filet. I grew up on a ranch so beef is definitely my forte. This had to be the best steak I have ever had!!! They only sell Prime beef which is top of the line and pretty rare. The service was better than we had imagined possible. We went on a Friday night and the place was at maximum capacity but we had a full wait staff attending to us at all times. Two separate managers came by to ensure we were being waited on properly. What I loved so much about this place was that it was prestigous and upscale without being stuffy.

III Forks is now my absolute favorite restaurant. The atmosphere is great, service is excellent, and the food is superb! I had the lobster bisque as an appetizer and the halibut as my entree. I've never had a more delicious meal in my life - seriously! Well cooked, beautifully arranged, and great side dishes. Definitely worth the money. If you're looking for a restaurant for a special occasion, this is HIGHLY recommended.
The only slight negative would be that we had reservations but still had to wait about 20-25 min. for our table, but they had live music and a great bar so we didn't mind too much

You've got to try their walnut salad, or whatever salad it is with caramelized walnuts/pecans and granny smith apple wedges. It was out of this world. Don't stop there, get their steak and lobster, they have one of the best!! And do save room for dessert, everything there is good. Expect to spend more than $100 there for 2 people.

While there are several places in Dallas to get an excellent steak, there are not many that has the service demonstrated at Three Forks. When the main course was brought there were three total waiters serving my wife and I. Outstanding service all the way around.

The food was wonderful--I had fillet mignon that melted in my mouth. The sides were average. Our waitor was excellent, but we only had one for a party of 7. Our server knew a lot about the menu and had excellent suggestions.

The wine list was extensive, but overpriced. The cheapest bottle of wine was $50. There was wine that I can get for $9.99 that was $70 on the menu!!

The decor was odd--some of it was gorgeous--beautiful crystal chandeliers, marble floors, but then you would look up and there would be an antler chandelier and an indian outfit behind glass?! My party & I couldn't understand this french/texas theme.

The steak was worth it. Our server was great (very polite & knowledgable), but the overall service lacked--there should be someone filling your wine glasses & taking away empty plates quickly, and it shouldn't be hard to find someone!

From the first bite into the perfectly cooked rib eye (black and blue), I knew that I had reached Nirvana. This was the ultimate steak, perfectly cured in brine and then seared just enough to give the meat a hint that it had been introduced, albeit breifly to fire. This amazing steak was perfectly complimented by an assortment of side dishes including tender and tasty lobster medallions. For a perfect evening, the steak must follow the famous three forks salad--a marriage of blue cheese and crisp, green apples. It is a great place for two to dine, or to take a group.
