Very happy!

by CynthiaNash

My major reason to check the Pampered Auto Care was the reviews I read here. I?m so glad I trusted them and left my car to fix there. I have 06 BMW and last year had some problems with. I went two times to dealership, and after spending more than 3000 the leakage was still present, they told me that was normal!
Two weeks ago I decided and went to Pampered and since than my garage is spotless. Very, very happy!

Pros: Pricing, timing, very clean waiting room

Cons: None

Disappointed

by NA91

I took my vehicle to Pampered Auto Care in Austin because of all the good reviews I had read online. I had first taken my car there in regards to a fluid leak I had noticied and thought was coming from a transmission front seal. They looked over the car and said they did not think this was where the leak was coming from and stated it was the valve covers. I asked them to change the valve covers seals, which they did and I took the car home the next day. That night I noticed the leak was still there in the same place. I brought it back and was told I will have to change the passenger valve cover because it was porous. I asked them to redo the job on that valve cover. After it was redone, the leak stopped. A few days later I noticed another leak and when I brought the car back they then stated that it was now the transmission front seal. I then gave the go ahead to change it, change the transmission fluid (which I provided 12 liters of esso lt 71141), the trans filter, pan gasket seal, two drain bolts (which I also provided) and replace the O-ring.

After picking up the car I noticed the next night that the car was making a whirring noise when put into reverse and when shifting. I took it back to them the next business day. They removed what they thought was the fill hole while the car was still running, and fluid came out and stated that the transmission was full and that the transmission was probably going bad. I took the car home and after reading forums I took it back. After discussing the concerns of transmission fluid again, they removed the drain hole again and fluid came out stating it was full and that they had worked on several similar vehicles like this one. I then asked if the 5HP24 transmission that was fitted in my vehicle only had one hole which was the drain/fill hole. I was told yes. I then stated I thought my trans had two holes, not one and asked what the hole was on the side of the transmission was.

The mechanic realized the mistake and used an electric pump with a container filled with transmission fluid although I still had two bottles of transmission fluid I had provided. They filled it up for approximately three minutes. They had not used the second bolt I had provided, however they did not return this to me. Manufacturer specs states that when the trans is filled, it would take 10 liters, however the trans wasn't full. They had given me two bottles back of the twelve I provided, but if the trans was not full what happened with the fluid?

I still have a leak, unknown damage due to having driven without enough trans fluid and doubts on the job done for a $1000.

HONEST, HONEST and HONEST

by FarrinA

Fan. Friggin. Tastic.

Me: I've had some experience with cars, both good and bad. I've replaced alternators, batteries, and a timing chain on my old car. Then I got tired of repairing my car, got rid of it, and started biking.

The Car: A 95 Neon that I just got from my sister, who just wanted me to have transportation. It has some problems, including a power steering thing.

Pampered Auto Care: I gave them a list, and they checked out everything. The mechanic didn't hold back when he described the last person that worked on the steering. As I suspected, it would need a new pinion for the leak (from a hole, that had been 'plugged') to be completely repaired
The mechanic let me know that I could live with it if I wanted, all depending on how long I planned on owning the car.

As someone who knows the basics about a car, I really appreciated that. Then I asked him to make the repair anyway. $650, to replace the part and pinion and re-align the car. I know that sounds really expensive. Its not for what they did.

A few things impressed me about Pampered Auto Care.
* I gave them a list of things to check out. As we went down the list, they let me know when something was outside of their scope, and suggested other places. (For instance, with a car radio problem)
* From a list of things that I gave them to look at, they only found the one problem... one which I already knew about.
* For a pretty complex problem, they gave me an estimate the same day. They repaired the car, and I was able to pick it up the next day.
* They were nice. I know that shouldn't matter too much, but it did. They left me feeling great after I spent $650 there, rather then feeling like I just got ripped off.

These guys are honest as hell.
If you don't know cars, trust these guys. If you do know cars, you'll love them even more.

Pros: ALL

Great Honest Great - The BEST!!!!!!!

by OliviaT13

GREAT Shop, GREAT Mechanics...Most HONEST shop I've ever had the good fortune to walk into. Went in with my 97 Jeep Wrangler, told them I needed a new transmission (because 2 other shops had said that) and he quoted a lower price so I told him to do the work. He called me 3 hours later to tell me the trans was done, it was just a bad valve and he fixed it for $50.00 I almost fainted. Also, when I brought my other car, Pontiac, in and told him I needed a brake job, he called me to tell me the rotors were bad, saved them and showed them to me, and only charged the cost of additional parts since he was doing the brakes anyway. My mother in law and a couple of friends in the area all have similar good stories. His shop is getting so busy now because everyone is starting to go there that you can't just pop in and wait for some jobs now. Go there and you'll never go elsewhere. I've moved to the far south side of Austin, but still take my cars here because it's very hard to find this kind of honesty!

Pros: Friendly, competent, professional - Definately recommend

My daughter's VW Jetta needed the headlights replaced before she drove to Ohio. Manager was extremely helpful and professional when I spoke to him on the phone and told him what i needed to have done. The work was done perfectly, timely and exactly how he advised us in advance. With so many car repair choices available, I would highly recommend this one. Timely and professional service is sometimes lacking in the auto repair industry.

I called before hand to make sure they could do a VI-30 Car inspection because we moved from out of State the car was less than 2 months old. They said they weren't busy and that they could get my wife right in no problem . She waited for a hour for them to come back and say that they filled it out as a 2008 nissan, which we had a 2009 so she had to wait another 40 minutes for them to inspect a NEW CAR!!

This car service shop was very helpful. I went in for one reason and they found a more pressing problem and pointed that out to me. I couldn't address the original problem at the same time so they itemized the repairs needed and gave me a printout. I thought the prices were fair and they didn't try to sign me up for lots of things I didn't need. Mark is very good at explaining the problem and proposed solution and I like the attitudes of the employees.

honest mechanic shop !!!!!!

by jk451969

I'm not a person who normally finds myself raving about things, certainly not writing some review, but here I found good reason. I first found Pampered Auto Care back about 3 years ago, and I seen them to be honest and hard working people. It wasn't until the last 4 months that I saw just how much. I had been having a problem with the dealer covering the warranty on my other car. Now,,, the dealer said it was a 1600 dollar repair that wasn't covered, but Pampered found that it was only a valve problem that would only cost about 250, even after I had told them of the dealers findings and price. Needless to say,, they fixed the problem and I was happy. The point is, they had every opportunity to crew me, but didn't choose to. These guys are number one in my book.

Pros: service

Amazing car repair service

by eron35

We bought a BMW over a year ago and it has been such a nightmare for us! I don't think we ever had a good experience with mechanics anywhere. They all seem to want you to fix all these "problems" .So the last time we took our car to this one shop in south Austin, they fixed a minor problem that we had with the car, but somehow they ended up busting something else. After we picked our car up, two days later it literally started to smoke! the smoke really scared the **** out of us. I mean we just got our car fixed for crying out loud!! We had to take it to the nearest auto shop, I don't remember the name, but it turned out that we were leaking antifreeze and it was evaporating and that's what caused the smoking effect, no it's not the same kind of smoke from a fire, but I can assure you, if you see that while driving, your heart would definitely drop to your pants. Needless to say I am cautious of taking our car anywhere. Now we're stuck with this antifreeze problem. After doing some research online we thought we were going to take it to L&M auto, which is so popular and they get such good reviews, so we called Bill and he said he was going to charge us $40 just to look at the car without even diagnosing any problems. That , to me seems pretty absurd. I mean if you just want to throw away money that's fine, but I think if I'm spending 40 bucks I better get something out of it. So we started shopping around and that's when I decided to give Pampered auto a try. I came in with skepticism of course, but to my surprise, Ed was very courteous. He showed me all the problems with the car and explained everything thoroughly. He tightened a couple of things and told me that should stop the leak, but if not, then I should come back. He sent me home without charging me anything! Now that's an honest mechanic. So far so good, I just hope that this thing stop leaking, but if not, then I would definitely take it back to Pampered Auto Care. Thank you

Pros: service

Cons: none

Very Fast Car Repair

by JP222

I highly recommend Pampered Auto for Mercedes Benz repair. They were able to provide same day service for my E430 and fixed my car in 30 minutes. They were very professional and courteous. The mechanic was nice enough to describe exactly what he was doing in detail and he was kind enough to point out some maintenance items I needed to do in the future. Many thanks to Mark and Greg at the Burnet location for excellent work.

Pros: Quick, accurate diagnosis and repair

Cons: No shuttle to downtown but didn't need it when the car is done in 30 minutes!

Place to go for auto repairs!

by PamelaAustin

These guys are great! They are professional, knowledgeable and friendly staff. I have a Nissan Frontier and Pampered Auto Care has continually given me better pricing for repair then any foreign car shop has quoted. They're always on time with the repair.

Plus, being a woman and going to a mechanic can be intimidating, but I'd never felt that way here. They always provided answers and explanations to my questions on car problems. My cars rarely had any problems after a repair...the one time it did, they replaced it free of charge, even though the warranty had just expired! (The problem was due to a defective part, NOT due to Pamepered Auto Care.)

I know when I get work done there I have a peace of mind driving afterwards.

Pros: Timeliness, Repair, Pricing...... ALL

Cons: Absolutely NONE

great mechanic and customer service

by swr1967

I have a BMW 330i that was leajing oil from the oil pan gasket. Edin and his team put the car on lift and figured out within half an hour that not just the pan gasket was leaking, but another part as well. In order to do the job 100% correct they recommended to make that repair as well at no extra charge for labor. They called me and discussed all the details with me . Many mechanics try to take advantage of the situation, not so Edin and his team. Peace of mind all the way! Plus Edin and his guys are absolutely nice guys who know their stuff inside and out! The BEST BMW and German car service in Austin by far. I highly recommend you see Edin and his team!

I went to Pampered for a brake job and my experience was overall very positive. They took my car right away and had it examined. They told me what the problem was. They showed me what the problem was. They explained what needed to be done. They gave me an estimate with a complete breakdown for each part and labor, which was a very reasonable amount. I took the can in at 10:30am and they estimated to have it ready around 12:00 (I finished at about 12:30, still pretty good by car repair standards). They charged exactly what they said

I don't know how having your car break down can ever be a good thing, but for me the day had a silver lining. Being new to Austin, I had the good fortune of being towed to Pampered Auto Care instead of a dealership. My 99 Passat was not drivable and needed major work and Mark was just awesome to work with. They promptly diagnosed the problem with my car and gave me a very fair estimate and completed the work quickly and as promised. In addition to the mechanical work, they even fixed a side panel that had come loose. They patiently explained the work that they did and also advised me about how I could keep my car in good shape. I have never had this kind of personal service before and will never go back to a dealership. I have owned cars for 35 years and these are the best and most honest mechanics I have ever dealt with. As long as I am in Austin this will be my shop and I would recommend it to anyone looking for great service.

What goes in Pampers?

by shoesfromcows

When I brought my car to Pampered Auto I knew exactly what was wrong with it. I would have replaced the parts myself but I had been very busy with work and decided to have them do it because of the drooling reviews on here.

Instead of doing the specific work that I requested, they changed an entirely different part and even charged me for a "diagnostic test" which I had already done myself. I wasn't in the mood to argue so I paid my bill and left. It seems that they rely on this behavior, how else could they expect to stay in business with such abysmal service?

Due to them "replacing" the wrong part (which is much more expensive), they didn't fix the problem at all, the car stalled out again 2 miles from the shop, and I ended up replacing the parts myself.

Save yourself $500 and do the work yourself or find a place that will actually do the job asked of them. Pampered Auto isn't worth your time.

Good service but poor attention to detail

by 62Spitfire

I recently took my Ml430 into the Cedar Park shop for a "B" service and a two axle brake job. The work was performed on time and as per the quote and the communication with Josh was very good. Overall the cost was quite reasonable.

However, when I picked the car up the first thing I noticed was that the service counter had not been reset. The tech came out to re-set it and while I was waiting (this took a while) I asked if they had rotated the tires. He said they had; but I know that I have 3 older tires that are almost worn to the indicators and one newer tire that was replaced under warranty. I?ll have to check the invoice form the tire shop but I am sure that the new tire is still on the same corner that it was when I took the car in.

Additionally, when I dropped the car off, I knew that I had a rear brake light out and I meant to tell the shop about it but forgot. When washing the car today I realized that the light was still out. Isn?t checking the lights part of the basic inspection service? Any quickie-lube will do that for you.

The apparent lack of attention to detail on the little things makes me worry about the important stuff.

Three stars this time but I most likely will give them a 2nd chance.

Pros: reasonable pricing - accurate repair estimates

Cons: incomplete work - 20 min delay in picking up the car.

I had such a great experience at Pampered Auto. After taking my 2001 car to a well known chain auto repair company and getting an estimate I decided to call around and get a few second opinions. Pampered Auto was hundreds less than the other auto company and they didn't recommend unnecessary things. They got me in quickly and fixed the problem for a fraction of the cost. I trust them with my car and will be taking it there for all my auto needs the the future!

Excellent communication

by Jesse5050

I accidently brought my 79 Trans Am Bandit into their shop thinking it was a different business I was being referred to..Not a good way to start..However my car was already there so I decided to let them do the work..The word "pampered" kind of had me scared as I interpreted that to mean "expensive". I had a list of items to be fixed and they went down the list as they went. I would get called and the mechanic would let me know what he found, and if it was really needing to be fixed. I had a problem with the A/C that they spent a lot of time trouble shooting and then when it didnt make sense to repair the issue, didn't charge me for the time. I left there feeling like I got a great deal on the service price and the work was quality. I'll be taking it back there soon, as I got another job for em!

Pros: They won't overcharge, they won't do work that isn't needed

Sehr Gut!

by anonymous321

I've kept my eyes and ears peeled for a good auto shop since moving to Austin two years ago and opted to give Pampered Auto Care a try after reading eighteen positive reviews out of a total of nineteen. Say no more (I will anyway)... I'm sold : )

I took my '96 Mustang GT convertible into the Austin location after noticing a rather disconcerting sound emanating from under the hood . She's got 192,000 miles on her, so I was worried. Needless to say, Mark, the gentleman behind the desk, and Greg, my mechanic that day, quickly put my worries to rest when they diagnosed the problem as a bad idler pulley. One hour (their supplier had the new part in-hand within thirty minutes) and $63 later, I was on the road again. Oh happy day!

But wait...there's more! I've been looking for someone to install a new top, receiving estimates ranging anywhere from $1400 - $1800. Well Mark - all too familiar with the Mustang breed - referred me to a gentleman who quoted me just over half that including labor, parts and supplies.

In short, Pampered Auto Care's won not only my continued business, but a strong referral to any of my friends and family looking for a conscientious and professional auto shop. In my experience, the staff pride themselves on doing the right thing at the right price, and if they can't do it, they'll refer you to someone who can. Yes, Virginia, there IS a Santa Claus, and I think he's German. Cheers, Edin!

I also shopped around after finding out the issues at hand. They beat my previous repair shop and also the dealerships in pricing. Top notch diagnostic

Top notch diagnostic. Brought my 740 in and they found the bad sensor in minutes. Part was on hand and replaced. Not to knock my car, but this the second time the same O2 sensor went out within 2 years and I had the dealer replace the first one. I do remember paying a few $hundred more at the dealer. I am spoiled with the dealership waiting room though having WiFi, but then again I was in and out in half an hour and did save a ton of cash.

Honest, clear and valuable inspection of a car I am considering from a dealership

by misplacedlonghorn

Edin and Mark at Pampered Auto Care were very knowledgeable and thorough. They did a 90 minute inspection on used BMW that I am considering purchasing from a local dealer. They found previously repaired body damage, a few oil and fuel leaks, a missing bolt or two, the fact that the AC compressor is working too hard and some other things. Long story short, I took the car back to the dealer and made them aware of these issues that I would simply have not found without Pampered Auto Care's expert inspection. I will not only bring future cars to be inspected, they will be getting all of my future maintenance and repair business as well! I highly recommend them to everyone

Oil Change

by globalserenity

I must note, I've had my oil changed everywhere from Wal-mart to Jiffy lube and in-between. The Friendly customer service at this company far surpassed all others. My oil change was quick and the price was reasonable. Also they made a point to avoid placing the sticker on tint brow at the top of my windshield, which noone thus far has gone the extra mile to do. Good thinking I say! I would definately recommend this company before the other guys, and I will be returning for any further auto care I may require.

Best mechanics anywhere and I have been by many

by sige

I have been by many so called "experts". I took my car to 6 different mechanics in past several months & spent over 2 000$. My friend recommended this place...hour later & 79$ my problem was fixed...and stayed that way. My BMW doing better than ever. I love this place!
Thanks Edin!

Did not make me feel embarrassed

by paulspan

Just had new tires installed by Pampered Auto Care and asked them to inflate all 4 to 44psi, the number on the sidewall that I used all my life. I was so embarrassed to learn that it was the max press on the sidewall and I should really be using recommended pressures listed on my gas cap. They had an opportunity to rub it in and make me feel bad, but instead they set out to instruct me why the front and rear have different pressures and why they sometimes change based on my car weight. This explains why I've always had great gas mileage and quickly balding tires. Thanks Pampered Auto Care

Pros: Fast, Honest

My wife was very happy with the service and fired me. Thanks Pampered Auto Care

by paullee3570

I just don't have the time anymore to do my own oil changes and asked my wife to find any mechanic nearby that is not a national chain (we are a big "keep business local" family) . Virna went shopping at La Frontera and found this garage along the way "Pampered Auto Care". They were extremely courteous and very fast. She was in and out in just a few minutes and went back to shopping. She came home to tell me that I was out of a job and that she didn't want me to do my own oil changes anymore. She said "I'm sorry Paul, the car always smells like oil when you do it". Apparantely, she was impressed that they use seat protectors or something like that. I acted like I was dissappointed, but I am very relieved to be out of the oil change business at my house. - Paul Jameson

Pros: Super Friendly, Fast.

Cons: I wish they had a second garage in Bastrop

Outstanding customer service!!!

by barr7

Three weeks before our summer family vacation, my car just dies while driving to work, lights go dim and lights light up on the dash. I call and have it towed in to Pampered Auto Care near Round Rock in No. Austin. Edin determines that it needs an alternator and offers to install a good aftermarket part or I can go with the factory original alternator. Because the difference is only about $40, I elect to go with the dealer part to feel secure that I have the most reliable part in anticipation of our upcoming vacation. Three weeks later, the car is running great and we are on our way to the Inn of the Mountain Gods resort in NM. It is about 9:15 at night, we are heading down a steep mountain road, pitch black and an 18 wheeler is right behind me. All of a sudden, my lights start going dim, the radio and DVD player go dead and I look down and see that my tach is on zero rpms! I couldn't believe my car had died with a brand new alternator, it had to be something else! I am coasting at over 50mph and the 18 wheeler is right on my bumber, finally, he decides to go around me since there was nothing I could do. As we near the bottom of the mountain, I notice a billboard light in the distance. As luck would have it, it was a sign for the turn off on to our hotel. Fortunately, we were able to coast to a stop under the sign. I was amazed that my cell phone worked in the middle of the mountains and I called our hotel. Thirty minutes later, a tow truck arrived and by 10:30 we were tired and frustrated but at least checked into our hotel. I still had Edin's cell number programed into my phone and not knowing what else to do, I called him hoping he was still up. I explained my stranded situation and he, over my objections, drove from his home back to the shop and pulled extensive repair testing info on my car and faxed it to my hotel. I gave it to the other mechanic and after further testing, my OEM alternator had gone out. Edin went over the top in helping me way after closing

Pros: Went way beyond what is expected in helping me with my car problem, when I returned, they warrantied to part cost back to me.
