Evelyn Kershaw Salon

I returned to the DFW area a year ago and have been searching for a hair salon. Two weeks ago I found this salon, and had my hair highlighted and cut by Kim. I am very difficult to please when it comes to a cut because my hair is fine and a bit thin. I was VERY PLEASED with BOTH the color and the cut and have already made an appointment to return for another haircut later in the month. The PRICE for both these services was even less than expected, making my experience even better! I recommend Kim without reservation. The only reason I am not giving the salon five stars is because I have only had one experience with one stylist.

I have been going to Evelyn's for about 10 years and she is great and would not know what I would do with out her!!! She was my life saver when I first moved to Texas. Every time that I change my haircut I get compliments from my family and friends, she is the type And I can say that it is not only Evelyn that I trust but her staff is great!!

I made an appointment with a particular stylist that sent me a coupon for $30 for wash, cut and style for first time customers. I made an appointment with that stylist and arrive 10 minutes early. I sat for 30 minutes up front before anyone even acknowledged I was there. Then I was told the stylist had left to run an errand and would be back in 10 minutes. (This was already 20 minutes after the appointment time.) Then someone else washed my hair as the stylist was supposedly running a "few minutes" behind. Then I was told Eveyln would start my cut and the other stylist would finish it when she arrived. She never showed up. The cut and syle Eveyln did was great, but she also charged me $85 (that's before tip). Evelyn would not accept the coupon and I was not told that until after she had done my hair. I felt that I was intentionally mislead and poorly treated. No one ever apologized for the time I waited, etc., but instead kept making excuses for the AWOL stylist. So I planned to spend a total of $40 and instead spent $100. Obviously I was a first time and last time customer.

I recently went to this salon for the first time and was expecting a good turn out based on all the good reviews; however I left extremely disappointed. The stylist who cut my hair did a poor job on my hair from beginning to end. She literally cut my hair straight across and that was it. I had to ask her to use the shearing scissors to thin out the ends and that was so hard to watch b/c it was obvious she was not comfortable using it. At the end I had to ask her to put product in my hair for me. I was so unsatisfied with the cut and style. I didn't want to ask her to do anything else to it for fear she would mess it up even more. I had my hair fixed yesterday by another stylist somewhere else. When this new stylist took one look at my hair she just frowned and then later laughed. She said it was totally uneven - that a 12 year old could have done better. Maybe I just had an inexperienced stylist who was having a bad day - too bad for me.

Just got my hair cut done, first timer. Amazing job! They know how to cut hair, and at only $15 including a hair wash, that's ridiculously cheap. Almost at "great cuts" price, and twice the quality. Highly recommend!

Stylist forgot her name, but she is definitely a fun girl to talk to, and took her time!

I met the whole staff at a beauty conference, they do some outstanding work! I saw them transform 4 different women's hairstyles to perfect colors and cuts. I made an appointment with the Evelyn Kershaw for a cut and style and I love it!! Everyone keeps asking me where I went and 2 of my co-workers have already made appointments!! The Evelyn Kershaw team rocks!!!

I went to Suzette for hair straightening after reading her reviews. She gave me a quick appointment, and felt my hair was an easy one for the procedure. She used Matrix products on my hair. For anyone who has had it done, it is a very lengthy process. For my shoulder length hair, it took her about 4 hours, and she ended it by putting color in her hair and expediting it. When i washed my hair 72 hrs later, it was all puffed and frizzy. She repeated the process again the same week since she felt that she may have only done the roots. This time she had her assistant finish my hair so she can soak her feet in her chemical bath. My hair was trashed after the repeat procedure. Everyone, please beware of her straightening method. I went to her based on the reviews and i don't want another person to damage their hair through her. Now I cannot wear my hair curly any more, and it becomes a dry frizzy mess without daily straightening. Good luck.

I searched on the internet for hours for a recommended hairstylist and found Suzette came highly recommended. I called and she got me in the next day. Her salon was private, comfortable, pretty and smelled great. I showed her a picture of what I wanted, something no one has been able to give me for the last 4 years (super blonde, without going trashy), she says... "no problem". Wow did she deliver! It came out awesome!!!! She was sooooo quick too, she's unconventional in her methods and has 29 years of experience and way trained in NY. To top it off, her prices were very reasonable. Suzette is a keeper!! I would recommend her to anyone I know for any problem, hard-to-do hair color or cut, and of course any of the basics styles too.

I've been following Suzette for years, since her and Tracey were in Carrollton, and would drive across the metroplex for great hair. Well, her and Tracey are now both in Plano at the Evelyn Kershaw Salon and she's better than ever! Her assistant Ana pampers you with extra services and Suzette gets you in, out and on your way with fabulous hair every time and worth every dime! Go see her!

I took chance on this salon since it's an independent and not a well-known chain... but it was a great decision! I could not be happier with the cut, style, and color services I have received there! The service is friendly - the other stylists are nice - the atmosphere is upscale and inviting!

PROS: friendly, easy to schedule, upscale facility
CONS: only one location!
