FAC...THEY HAVE HEART!!!!!

by Jennifer J.

We recently had to say goodbye to our family dog Harley, he was with us for a full 14 years. We made what has been the hardest decision we have ever mad as a family and mad our way to Fairbanks animal clinic. They were very understanding and compassionate. They put us in a room as soon as we walked in and let us have our final moments with Harley; they walked us through every step and gave us as much time as we needed to say our goodbyes. For what was the hardest thing we had to do, their concern and care really showed. About 4 weeks later we received a small package in the mail, it was a small paw print and a small piece of Harley's hair. It was so unexpected, but much appreciated, to have such a keepsake of our Harley.

Thanks to FAC for helping our family through this tough time!

FAC is Awesome

by Armenia G.

I was very pleased with the service that I recieved @ fac. I was referred their by one of the techs at AEC 249. I had to take my dog in for a broken hip she was HBC. I was very pleased with the way my dog was taken care of and how she turned out after surgery. Dr. Mark was great. He took his time and talked to me about what all needed to be done post-op. Never rushing or acting like I was bothering him with all my questions. I work in a veterinary clinic and know how important customer service is to the consumer. I recommend all my clients to Dr. Mark for their orthopedic needs when I think that it is something that he can do. And everyone that I have recommended is just as happy as I was.

RE: A DISSAPOINTMENT TO SAY THE LEAST

by Fairbanks Animal Clinic F.

The previous review is very misleading. In reality this pet had a complicated chronic condition that involved testing to diagnose and treat. This of course would have been quite expensive and the owner understandably declined such action more than once. As the pet deteriorated and finally passed. There was no doubt great grief. The owner did spend and care for their pet by treating the symptoms seen on the surface. The blame goes to the underlying disease. Whether it was a cancer, endocrine failure or other condition we will never know. We love our pets and it hurts when we lose them.

Fairbanks Animal Clinic is wonderful!

by Z. B.

I believe Fairbanks to be an outstanding facility. Both my elderly German Shepherd Dog and my new adoptee, a Standard Poodle puppy are clients. Dr. Glenn Rieger diagnosed a thyroid problem that had gone undiagnosed for years in my GSD. His long standing skin problem cleared up in no time. Moving to Houston 2 years ago FAC was recommended to me by a good friend, and I am so happy they were! I have nothing but good things to say about them.

Fairbanks Animal Clinic is THE BEST!

by Delores G.

I cant believe some of these bad reviews! Fairbanks animal clinic has 3 of thee best veterinarians in Houston. Dr Glen Rieger and Mark Rieger are amazing veterinarians. I have been going to FAC for a few years and they are HIGHLY recommended by many and understandably so. And my dogs also boarded at the pet lodge and we had a wonderful experience. My dogs were very happy! I think whoever wrote the bad review below doesn't know that dogs/cats when they are out of their comfort level become stressed and will either not eat or have diarrhea. It doesn't take an expert to know that one Einstein! FAC is a BUSY BUSY clinic but to me its worth the wait. No place is going to please EVERYONE but people go out of their ways just for this place and I am one of them! So ignore the bad reviews and know that these doctors are very experienced and great at their jobs!

A disappointment to say the least

by Sam P.

I will be discrete as possible b/c i just want to inform people of my experiences here, not to play the blame game on anyone specific. I'd give this place negative stars if I could.

The reason I'm writing this is because I don't want the same thing to happen to other people's pets. I'm going to discuss a few things that have happened over the past 3 yrs with this clinic: 1) never gave me answers about my dog's symptoms 2) their pet lodge 3) the doctor not recognizing a snake bite (my dog passed away from this before we could bring her to the hospital).

1) Not even having my 500-yr old dog breed in the system should have been my first sign to pull away. But I thought I'd give them a chance (and they were also very close). Over the past 3 yrs, whenever my dog wasn't feeling well, I never got a definite answer about anything...just test after test after test. And I was willing to pay because my dog was my world

2) My family and I went on vacation and boarded our dog at Pet Lodge (branch of Fairbanks Animal Clinic) for 2 weeks. After we got her back, she had lost 10 lbs, a lot of hair on her hind legs and her neck was crooked from the rest of the body. Not knowing what happened, we took her to FAClinic twice and they claimed nothing was wrong. But she was never the same dog since.

3) Our dog is an inside/outside dog. So when we brought her in the house, we noticed that her leg was swelled to an incredible size. We thought maybe it was a spider or snake bite b/c only her arm was swollen and nothing else (though we weren't vets so we took her to FAClinic). Even though we mentioned it could a spider or snake bite (due to recent cleanings and shuffling of our yard), no real diagnosis was made (it could be this it could be that). 1-2 days later, we noticed 2 holes (SNAKE bite) in her arm...that the vet had failed to spot (I don't want to mention their name, i just want to inform people). Sad to say that our dog was quickly taken from us after that.

There are many vets in the city, wouldn't you want to take your pet to one that shows competency and caring? My dog was very close to our family and we miss her dearly.

Unacceptable

by Erin M.

Since I know most people don't read far - let me start with this:
When we picked up our cat, a dog had peed on his carrier - with him inside. His entire back side was soaked. Along with ruining the carrier. The scent lingered, and made our other cat hiss at him for days.

We left our cat for a check up, since he'd been feeling sick. There weren't any appointments available, but we were told that the vet would be able to check on him, and we could pick him up later in the day.
Not ONLY did the first front desk 'assistant' fling him over her shoulder like a purse...
But the Vet acted like he hadn't even checked in on him when he called. He suggested hundreds of dollars worth of tests, to attempt to identify the problem (which the second vet we took him to was able to do in about 15 minutes - without tests)
The second 'assistant' that handled him could barely lift him properly, (he weights 11lbs., the carrier barely weighs anything) and sloshed him around in his carrier until finally giving him to me.

If you need a GOOD vet for your pet, try the Jersey Village Animal Clinic. They're located at 17341 Village Green Dr. The building is big and clean, and the staff is wonderful.

Bad Neuter

by Kevin K.

Recently, I had my dog neutered at Fairbanks Animal Clinic and he developed unusual swelling and bruising. I was given no information regarding the type of suturing my dog would receive. Apparently, each vet uses what they prefer the most. My dog received Frankenstein-like stitches and we were given an E-collar which was too small for him. The stitches are a wonderful thing for healing dogs to lick and bite at. Make sure you know which doctor will be operating and what their methods are.

AWESOME!

by Connie R.

I have been bringing my pets here for 21 years and even though I've moved out into the country, I drive about an hour 1 way to continue bringing them here.
Dr. Mark, Dr. Glenn and Dr. Sabo are the BEST!
Dr. Mark is an exceptional surgeon
We miss Dr. T, but while she was there, she also is the BEST
As others have said, they all care so much for your pet, as though he/she was their own. They thoroughly discuss all aspects with you, provide you with the information you need, to make an informed decision, including the variation in pricing. I trust them completely with the care of my children, cause that's how I feel about my pets. There are vets closer to home, but I can't bring myself to change and won't change.

Without a doubt the best vet care I have ever encountered.

by Amber H.

My parents used Fairbanks for our first dog & they took phenomenal care of Sugar until her last days. I brought my own 'first' dog to Fairbanks, and they were the only ones to diagnose Rusty's food allergies correctly. I now live across town, but I still drive over an hour so that my dog has the best care available. You will not find a more caring, considerate and competent team than Fairbanks. When I bring Rusty or drop him off, I feel great knowing that I have left my dog in the care of people who love him as if he is their own pet. Even in emergency situations, when I've taken Rusty out to the ER clinic in Tomball, the doctors always call me the next day to see how Rusty is doing. I can't imagine taking my dog anywhere else. I truly believe that Fairbanks Animal Clinic is the best in the world.

Best Vet in Town

by Marie S.

I've used Fairbanks Animal Clinic for almost 20 years now. They are exceedingly attentive to the animals' needs, which is what I like best about them. Second, they take the time to explain everything for me, so I can be an educated consumer. Third, their prices are very competitive.

I've moved to the other side of town and I still use them, although it's a much longer drive now, because the other vets I've tried just don't measure up.

Excellent diagnostic skills, compassionate care, A&M trained vets, reasonable prices -- can't find any place better!

Fairbanks Animal Clinic cares about the animals. They give good service at a reasonable price because caring for animals is a priority. I have only had good service from the vets at this location.

One of the best on the NW side

by yamadude t.

Pretty good place, decent prices and good business hours. I've trusted this place in the past, hopefully they keep doing great business. I have to type at least 150 characters for my review and dont really know what else to say. Good place, better then a lot in the area.

Why we use Fairbanks

by Anonymous

We had a very old sick dog that need to be put down and my daughters friend recommended Fairbanks Animal Clinic. They were so helpful and supportive that I instantly liked them. Then a few weeks after our dog was put to sleep we received a little package from the vets office that was a paw print from our dog. Any office that is that considerate and caring of their patients and their families is worth using for all animals. Thank you Fairbanks Animal Clinic for helping us and showing us that you really do care!!!!!

Aminal Friendly Vet

by Mary O.

We have used the Fairbanks Animal Clinic for about 12 years and last year had to put our beloved "Mike" down. They were so kind in this difficult situation and even continued to keep in touch with us to see if we needed anything. We just got a new dog "Piper" and he will make his first visit to Fairbanks Animal Clinic for his first check up this evening. Our dogs are as mush a part of our family as the actual family members are, so we certainly would not allow anyone we did not trust completely to care for our dog(s). I can highly recommend this clinic to anyone. Mary

Thanks for saving lives!

by Anonymous

We love this place! Our cat was sick once in the middle of the night and we had to take him somewhere so we took him to Fairbanks, the last person was closing up but they opened the place back up just so they could take care of our cat and probably saved his life! The place is always tidy even with all the animals everywhere which is a hard job to do. We always find good parking and we have recommended it to all our friends

great

by Omar S. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,010

They provide excellent services to animals. My friend had encountered a problem with his cat, and in no time did the doctor tell him exactly what to do. The advice he provided was great, and did not charge for his time.
