First off, I should admit that I work at the Austin location (as of this writing). But I don't think that means I can't be objective, being something of a bead-junkie.
So the pluses about Nomadic Notions: the service. Employees are encouraged and expected to greet every customer and really give them personal assistance, whether it's just helping 'em pick out beads and supplies, or walking them through the whole jewelry-making process. Bead-trays and tools are available for use, so folks can walk in and make a piece right there, with assistance from the staff if necessary.
We've also got a whole array of classes, and the schedules usually feature 3-month stretches, so you can plan in advance. I've been making jewelry for 3 years, and believe me, I don't know how to make HALF the stuff my co-workers teach. So it's an excellent opportunity if you're looking to expand your knowledge, or if you're just wanting to make a few cute presents for friends and family.
I guess the downside would be the price -- we're probably a bit pricier than some other bead stores in town, and certainly moreso than bargains you can find online. Just part of the hazards of running a retail outlet. We may not have quite as wide a selection, either. But if you're a beginner at beading, Nomadic Notions is probably your best bet.

Every bead you can imagine! That's what you'll find at Nomadic notions. They have every thing you need for beading supplies. Gems, jewelry findings, tools and of course lots and lots of beads. They even have classes to teach you how to make your own jewelry. The front half of the store is a wonderful gift shop full of many eclectic items from all over the world. One of my favorite places to shop.

GREAT place for beads, gemstones, crystals and unique gift items. Jewelry making classes are available on a regular basis. Prices are competitive and very reasonable on most items. Love the location in Alamo Heights!
PROS: Great location!
CONS: None
Beads beads and more beads! This store is great for the jewelery making crafter. They have all the beads and the supplies to make jewelery. The prices are in the same range with the other craft stores, but the quality is much better. They also sell silver wire by the length which other craft stores do not!
