Do not go, your life depends on it. They will keep you as long as possible just to drain your insurance. The psychiatrists are a joke, you are lucky to see them for two minutes at a time. The nurses don't care if you drop dead. You will sit in admitting for up to two days. Literally, sitting there in an uncomfortable chair. It was the most excruciatingly painful part, as I have arthritis and they threaten you if you even stand up. I was two days without my meds, and so they admitted me after I went into withdrawl. Then they put me on everything under the sun, none of it worked, I tried to tell them I already had been on all them. I got out in much worse shape than before and had to go to a "real" hospital to get my meds and physical and mental state stabilized. If you are thinking of harming yourself, don't go to Green Oaks, your life depends on it. The psychiatrists especially, they are vacant, careless, uncaring monsters.

Of all the places I have heard of, through the people in this industry, Green Oaks is the best by far. Our family has used them 3 times, and are totally happy. Granted, no one on this earth is perfect, and not everyone fits the exact same needs, but the staff here cares! They are not some high priced exclusive place, either. They take everyone, insured or not, that the police or emergency services bring them. In spite of all that, they give everyone total respect, 100% effort to help them, and sincere personal support.

Horrible experience. I went there for help and came away much worse. Staff didn't listen to me, ignored signs of my worsening depression and anxiety. I would never return there, nor would I take a loved one there.
Do yourself a favor and seek treatment or help elsewhere. Green Oaks is just another money making machine, profiting from mental illness.
I will never forgive them for what they did to me.

Green Oaks is truly the only place that I would take a loved one. The care that the psychiatrists give is the best that I have experienced. I have worked in mental health for many years and Green Oaks is by far the best care for mental health patients. The staff is compassionate and are truly there because they love their job. The psychiatrists are not about keeping patients longer than required. Green Oaks helps all patients, no matter of their financial situation.

I worked there at one time and you are right. If you have insurance some of the doctors will keep you until it runs out. No insurance? Out in three days. The CEO did away with most groups which can be helpful. His saying is medicate and get them out. No caring about the patients.

Green Oaks is a very community oriented hospital. The staff really does seem to care about the people that they serve and nobody is ever turned away. They are an acute care psychiatric hospital and are really the only place I would take somebody who is in a psychiatric crisis.

My son was admitted through another hospital recommendation. He was there until the insurance ran out then they sent him to a state hospital. He was there a total of 14 days and after insurance paid their share we were billed over $10000. They will lie and decieve you into keeping your child there, but as soon as the money is gone, they are gone. Bad, bad place.

Admitted for depression/anxiety. Dr. prescribed anti-psychotics, benzos and antidepressants before I could give him my last name. I left much heavier, because the food really is delicious and medication magnified my hunger significantly. I also met my new bride to be there, who assisted me, among many other things, in understanding what real "Issues" were all about. If you think you got problems - check yourself in there, take a good look around, don't eat too much, talk to a few folks without flirting and sign out as fast as you can. You'll come out feeling like a real winner!

This hospital is a money making machine. They keep those who have good insurance in the hospital until their insurance runs out, usually a longer stay than the patient needs. Those with no insurance are tossed out quickly, even if they need longer treatment.
Do not go there if you have no mental health coverage and are not indigent. You will be kept there at a minimum of $1,000 a day with no support, advice or information how to pay your enormous bills. Beware of the psychiatrist visits. These doctors are available only to give prescriptions. The psychiatrist's visit may be 15 minutes and will cost you at least a $100. You may or may not see your assigned social worker. The food is great, the twin mattresses are comfortable, and the respite from the world in a nice vacation from your woes in the world. But a cruise around the Mediterranean might be just as helpful.
PROS: GREAT FOOD
CONS: TOO MANY TO LIST!

A few years back my teenage daughter had to be hospitalized here to get her medication changed. She has a medical condition that is labelled psychiatric, but is a physical problem. If she takes her medication, all is well, but as she got older, the doc wanted to change to an adult med, and wanted to do this under hospital care. So we went to Green Oaks. Now I'm sure they are just the place for a kiddo with maybe a drug problem, but they are not set up to handle a fairly normal kid with a medical issue. We were forced to attend family counselling and other strange therapy sessions which were expensive and not needed. Not that my family's perfect, but this was over the top. Before we left, my daughter had developed all kinds of strange behaviors and complaints that she had not exhibited before entering the hospital. If you go here to help your kiddo, be aware that they have strange requirements and no flexibility regardless of what a kiddo really needs. At least go into it with eyes wide open.

Here is a kind careing staff to assist clients thru their crisis. A safe place to get the help that is needed to stabilize a clients mind. Many mental health services are offered. They have a wide variety of support groups and classes for the client and caregiver. All to help you understand what has happened.and how to deal with it.
