Awesome college

by Jennifer W. | insider Insider | Rank: 32,642

I'd have to say, UT is one of the best college campuses that I have been to. I'm glad I made the decision to come here. Out of all the colleges I have visited, and it was quite a few, I really enjoyed the University of Texas at Austin the best. The environment is amazing. The people here are wonderful, the teachers are nice, and campus is an easy and convenient place to get around.

Very comfortable atmosphere and great people!

by Richard C. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,585

I love UT Austin. Although there are a lot of students here (over 30,000 I believe), everyone is really nice. The football games are the most fun you'll have here is because of the spirit and energy by UT students. The classes are pretty easy as long as you study and Gregory Gym is awesome with so many activities you can participate in. There are over 750 clubs you can join, too!

Burnt orange is beautiful!

by Melissa P. | insider Insider | Rank: 17,737

I too might be a little biased, as I am also an alum. However, I started out registered in a southern ivy league school and transferred to UT-Austin when my parents could no longer afford the tuition. Of course, I groused and moaned for a while, but you know what? I got a *much better* education for the dollar than I did at the other university. I was exposed to a very diverse population of people, different attitudes, gender preferences, radical politics, and all of the wonderful enlightening things that college should be about. The University offers just about any degree program you would possibly want, as well as funding options for students who don't have the money to pay for tuition upfront. Great work-study program, too. All of the professors were extremely learned and well known in their respective fields - I even had the chance to study with some famous authors. It was an experience that every young adult should have.

PROS: Reasonable tuition; wide variety of degrees; located in beautiful Austin.
CONS: Very hard to get in; the red tape of registration is frustrating.

Hook Em

by Brian P. | insider Insider | Rank: 15,106

I have to admit I am a little biased, being a Texas Alum, but the University of Texas is one of the best colleges in the country! There are very few universities that will allow you to go out and search for more academically or socially. The programs are rated as some of the best in the country, the teachers are wonderful, the sports program is great (rated best college sports program by Sports Illustrated), the people are beautiful, and the city is amazing. I have never met a person who lived in Austin, who wouldn't want to go back. It is an eclectic mix of all people, and one of the few places in Texas where liberals and republicans coexist side by side. I can't think of a better place to spend four years.

PROS: Wonderful teachers, Top Notch Research programs, Wonderful City
CONS:
