Thank you for voting Welch Dental Group the #1 Best Dental Office in Katy 2008, Katy Magazine Reader's Choice Award. We just want to say that we have the BEST patients in Katy!!!!
The staff are nice enough the dentists seem nice enough. However, I have now been to the office twice, once for a cleaning and once for a problem. They were quick to get me in to take a look at the problem. They also take my insurance which is great. My biggest complaint is that having been twice I have yet to have a cleaning or them even use the dental pick besides to take some gum measurements. It had been a while since I had seen a dentist and I know I have issues that need addressed. However, when I go for a cleaning I still expect a cleaning and not to be told I need an additional procedure and then not receive a cleaning. BTW that additional procedure was scheduled almost three months after that inital visit where I didn't get the cleaning. Just really feeling like they didn't do the job because well this other procedure will take care of that as well. That is all fine and dandy but how many more months do I need to keep waiting? The office is very busy and understaffed because they are good, I just wish I was getting that same treatment by them actually taking my concerns seriously instead of trying to just push me off until later when I have my other appt. scheduled.

I think this is a fabulous office that is filled with professional and caring employees. Dr. Hearrean is my dentist of choice but I have seen Dr. Smith as well and was very pleased. Karen is very helpful when doing my financials and takes her time to make sure I understand my treatment and insurance benefits. THANK YOU to the entire staff! I recommend this office to all my friends, neighbors and co workers.

I am looking for a new dentist and always check reviews as a starting point. I have seen several references to bad reviews but I only saw 2 of the 17 that I read to have a negative tone and one of those seemed to be the negative personality of the reviewer herself. I am absolutely terrified of dentists due to a very bad experience during my teens and there appears to be an excellent level of caring and empathy at this dental office. I have an appointment in the morning due to all of the excellent experiences and positive reviews. Thanks to all of you for sharing!

This dental practice in Katy is unique because it not only offers all aspects of dental procedures like porcelain veneers, dental implants, regular cleaning and more - they also have several dentists to pick from. Great office - friendly staff...

The staff at Suite 215 definitely have a much better customer service than Suite 225. The atmosphere is much more relaxing and everyone was so friendly and upbeat. Both me and my daughter enjoyed our visit. Thanks Holly for making the process less stressful. We were then sent to Suite 225 for the cleaning procedure. The hygienist was nice and did a great job but I thought the front desk lady is quite cold. This is my second time meeting her. Being in customer service industry, you do need to be professional at all times. Your patients may dress up a certain way and you may not share the same beliefs as them but you need to learn to put your personal feelings aside and respect them the way you want to be respected, and also give them the kind of service that they deserve. Overall, I am happy with the services and one bad apple shouldn't destroy my positive thoughts about the rest of them...

I am a new patient of this office, and I was treated w/ care, courtesy, and respect. Dr. Herring was great, so was Heather the assistant. They made a very nervous patient feel safe, and calm. When I expressed it was a bit cold in he office, I was offered a warm blanket for comfort. Everything was explained to me step by step. I will indeed return and reccomend the office to others. The feeling I got from this office was very down to earth but yet professional and courteous.

I have gone to Dr. Welch for 11 years and at one time or another have seen all of the dentists there. Recently I had a problem with a bridge that had been installed at their offices. I had the bridge for about a year when a problem came up with the root canal on the bridge. They referred me to a specialist in Dr. Clark's office(outstanding care there too). The specialists said it appeared that I had a fractured root canal and felt that my tooth should be removed. I went back to Dr. Welch's office and discussed the findings. Even though there was no fault found with the previous work Dr.Herrin said that he expected his work to last well more than a year and that he would not charge me for the additional work done. I expected to spend more than $1,000 to have my bridge fixed, so nobody had better tell me that they are only interested in sales. This is one of the most honest and hard working group of professionals I have ever worked with. Thank you Dr. Welch.

I started going to Dr. Welch's office about 7 years ago. The Dr. I saw the 1st time I was a bit unsure about ( nothing bad) but , on the next visit I saw Dr. Smith and I have to say I ADORE him! If there is a problem with a tooth he gives me all the options on what we can do. My son has only seen Dr. Smith and he loves him! We brought my son in about a month ago to have a xray taken to make sure he did not have an abscess(which was recommend by the ER- for face being swollen) and when we left Dr. Smith called the same day to see how Caine was . Now that is what I call a dedicated Dr.

Sheesh! I've read a few accounts of people who complain because they can't take their infants. There's a reason for that. As a FORMER dental assistant, it is impossible to focus solely on the patient when they have to stop every ten minutes to get the pacifier, change a diaper, comfort the baby. Second of all, it isn't safe. Look at your dentist and his assistant: notice something? That's right. They are wearing goggles. And gloves. And a mask. Do you really want your infant breathing in your tooth dust??? And the front office has better things to do than watch your baby. They're busy with scheduling appointments and verifying your insurance because you're too lazy to do it yourself.
It is people like most of these bloggers that convinced me to get my degree and find a new career... I can't stand that sense of entitlement that everyone has. You are entitled to professional expertise, good quality products and experience. That is it. You are NOT entitled to come in 20 minutes late, (*be honest blogger... you know it was more than five) and you are not entitled to drag your screaming children in and disrupt the whole office.
So take some responsibility for yourself and quit complaining about everything. And I do NOT buy the story of the person who had no idea they were getting a root canal. If that's the case, then it is your own fault for not being more assertive and asking questions.
Here's hoping the good dentists will print and frame this for their waiting rooms.

I've been to Dr. Welches now 3 times... a root canal, a filling and a deep cleaning. Each time I went the office staff was friendly, and the Docters and their assistants very professional and courteous. I told them of my concerns, and they listened and paid attention. Each visit the docter would check often with me, to see if I was comfortable, or needed to take a break (old jaw injury). The staff was just as great I like this office, and have my husband going here now as well. They tell me the out of pockets costs up front, and there haven't been any surprises. I like this office- and that's coming from a dentist-phobe! Luzie B.

I'm amazed to see some of the things written about this office. I called in with extreme pain and they were very quick to see me and attend to my problem. The office staff was completely competent and very pleasant. I was given a quote for services and have paid no more then I was initially told. Great service, will recommend this office to my friends and family.

I just found out about this site and thought I would check it out. I first want to say that my family and I have been patients of Dr. Welch for over 7 years and have never had any problems. I do understand that there are ALWAYS two sides to every story and for the most part you won't find "happy patients" looking for blogs only those who want to vent. Sometimes we as patients must take some responsibility, know your insurance, be educated on the procedures that you are told you are needed and don't be afraid to ask questions. I have a 8 year old son who had to have a root canal done. Jason-my son was very nervous and Dr. Hearrean and the lady who did my financials took the time to address my sons fears and concerns. My son now looks forward to going to his checkups and made it through the root canal with no problems. I love the fact that my family is always taken back for our appointments on time and the dentist and staff treat my children like they exist and there concerns matter. I also want to say that I have never been told "This is your cost" I have however been told "This is your estimate" I appriciate being given an estimate for all my services and understand the meaning of an estimate. My previous dentist did not give estimates and I had no idea what I would owe until AFTER my insurance paid. I'm glad my family and I found the office of Dr. Welch. The office is very clean, I will say that if you want very late or early appointments for cleanings you must book in advance. This office is very accomodating.
Pros: Great Dentists/Great Staff
cons: Going to the dentist in general is no fun.

Let me start by saying that whenever I have a problem with any establishment, I always request to speak with a supervisor. In many cases, it's a case of miscommunication, misinterpretation or perception. One person perceives an occurence differently than another. I also believe that every establishment is capable of making mistakes and does, whether they admit to it or not. I also am not naive to the fact that some people make requests or demands that are simply not grantable. All I can say is that I know the heart of this office and I do believe that they have their patient's best interest in mind. I do not feel that this web-site is a truly accurate account of this office and it is very one-sided.

Dr. Welch's office is not the best dentist office I've ever been to nor is it the worst. I have been to a much more expensive dentist, as well.
For those who complain about the upsaling...get a second opinion....find out about hidden costs before you agree to a procedure.
I have never been upsold in there. I go in for my routine cleanings and the doctors are nice. One hygenist I had was too chatty with the girl next to her, but at least it kept her from talking to me and expecting answers...hello.....you've got stuff in my mouth....I can't talk.
The front desk girls could use a little help in the nice dept. but I only see them a fraction of the time.
What's important is they take my insurance, clean my teeth, and see me when I need to be seen.
So I go back.

Been going to Gary D. Welch for several years now and I think they are a wonderful operation. Their dentists are professional and well trained. When I have needed procedures outside of the routine, the cost estimate was straight forward, simple, and accurate. All work was done to my satisfaction. I will continue going back for years to come!
I would highly recommend them!

After having the worst dental experience of my life at Castle Dental, I decided to try Gary D Welch & Associates. I must admit the reviews on this establishment had me so anxious I was not sure my blood pressure would be in the range to permit a checkup and cleaning. I sat in the waiting room watching each hygienist come visit the children and parents with so much enthusiasm. My appointment was for 3:15 and I was taken in at 3:20. I was treated very well by my hygienist and also by Dr. Lomax who gave me options on my dental work; both hygienist and Dr. were good listeners. My complete visit was covered by insurance and they filed the paperwork; no paperwork for me. I also made an appointment for my daughter while I was there because my experience was so good and also another appointment for the two of us in 6 months and my husband will be moving over to Welch & Assoc. I'm glad I was not swayed by the bad reviews and gave them a chance b/c my experience was a very good and professional one.

I am terrified of the dentist and went in for a cleaning..The hygienist Aimee was very thorough in explaining everything and Dr. Ho even wrote a prescription to pre-medicate me before my deep cleaning. I knew of all of the costs upfront and do not feel that anything was hidden, or neglected. Dr. Ho even came by to check on me when I came back for the fitting of my trays, just to make sure I was ok.
PROS: Excellent care and attention to detail!

I have to disagree with the disgruntled reviews that are posted on this site. I've been seeing Dr. Welch's office for 6 1/2 years and I have always found their staff to be extremely competent and helpful. I believe they go out of their way to be informative regarding my insurance. I think their office is friendly and upbeat. I would highly recommend them to anyone and have sent many of my friends and family.
PROS: Knowledgable Staff, Up-to-date equipment, Clean Office
CONS: None
