I bought an air conditioning unit from them along with an extended warranty and they sure "Conned" me too. They came and picked up the unit and had it in their warehouse for a full month "repairing" it. Then they would make a date for delivery and not show up or even call. So finally they show up, install it, turn it on and it makes this horrible grinding noise and smells like it's burning. I tell the guys that it's not repaired, but they wouldn't take it back to their warehouse. They just left it. So, not only have I been without air conditioning for a month, but they brought it back MORE broken than when it left! After they left, the unit finally crapped out and wouldn't even turn on. I call and tell them this, so they decide to send a third party repairman out. He says that it is completely broken and it would cost the price of TWO new units to repair this one, so he says he is going to report that to Conn's and see what they wanted to do. So, I call to see what they are doing about it, they say I "refused service" (at this point, I am literally crying because I didn't refuse service and it is so hot in my house, chocolate is melting) so they want to send ANOTHER guy out. This guy comes to the same conclusion ("YUP it's broken!" DUHHHH it won't even TURN ON!) and they STILL haven't given me a new one, which is what my warranty says! They should have given me a new one from the beginning, but they are lazy and do not care at ALL about their customers. So, I am turning them into the Better Business Bureau. I might even file a lawsuit against them, because this is just ridiculous! Anyone who has problems with Conn's (and I'm sure you do, because they have the worst customer service in HISTORY) I would suggest doing the same, because no matter how patient you are or how long you wait, THEY WILL NOT HONOR THEIR WARRANTY AND WILL NOT HELP YOU OUT! It takes a lot to get me THIS pissed off...I am making it my mission for the rest of my life to put them out of business...I am telling everyone I know this story and I am warning people that they should buy from Best Buy instead. I have NEVER had a problem with Best Buy. Maybe Conn's should take some pointers from them and actually do what they say they are going to do. So thanks for being complete and total MORONS Conn's and prepare for war, because you shouldn't be allowed to deal with people, let alone be in business anymore...

I bought a sectional and ottoman from conns with a warranty on everything. A large stain from spillage and also the cushion got sunken in so i called the customer service department to come fix it or replace it. The inspector comes out and only checks the stains but doesnt even say anything about the sunken cushion. Told me it wasnt apart of the inspection. Says they will contact me. 2 weeks go by and nothing. So i call back and they tell i had to have called within 15 days of the incident. I'm really sorry to hear you guys have had such bad luck with Conn's. Me and my family have used them for 40? years and never had any trouble. They've never taken more than 2-3 days to come make a repair, and everything we have bought from them works great still. In fact, the only complaint I have about them is being vultured by salespeople when walking in the door. I've gotten good deals and great appliances from them. :/

I will never buy from Conn's again. I purchase entire bed room set w/dresser. The wheels to the rails broke, i called Conn's to and fix it and it took them 3 months to finally get the new rails. My problems with the rails was that there was no wheels attached. Up to this day it has not been fixed, so my bed it on blocks of wood.
what was the purpose of purchasing the warranty if Conn's wasn't going to honor there end.

I will never buy anything from Conn's again in my life! I purchased a Samsung washer and dryer on 29 May, 2010.
The washer has never worked! I moved in my Condo July 2, 2010. The washer needs a mother board I was told, The part still has not come in to your parts department. I have called and no one will help me from this department. Why can't I receive another washer? I was told I did not qualify. I have a seriously ill person living with me and I need my washer machine. As I said before this is my last purchace from Conn's. Your service is non existence! There is no star for a poor quality service????

Product: Samsung 3 door refrigerator purchased February 02, 2010. Problem: Freezer drawer does not seal on right side causing frost build-up which prevents proper closing. All three doors had to be removed when Conn's delivered the refrigerator and were not reinstalled properly.

I was just reading some of the other reviews while on hold with Conn's service department...wow.

When I did get through I had to interrupt our conversation to point out the loud woman's voice in the background. She was telling someone in the room that she 'wasn's going to talk to that man about any of that legal $#!*', her name was called and she was shushed.

Back to my conversation. I explained my problem to the lady and told her that I had reported the problem to Conn's back in April and that a serviceman had come out. That was an eye opener. He used a hair dryer to defrost the ice build-up and then told me that the problem should be fixed but if it happened again to call and he would come back and replace the gasket.

Now I'm haggling with the lady over the phone about when I will be available for another service call. She tells me that she will try to have someone come out between 4-5 pm (no specific date) but that she will call me if the date is bumped up.

This is Conn's service department, what professionalism. You have Formica Dinette or whatever the hell her name was loudly using profanity in a room of people supposedly trying to help frustrated customers. Then you send a repairman to my house with a hair dryer to fix my freezer drawer. Okay Skippy it's not the gasket. The door was not put back on correctly and there is plainly a 1/4" difference in the alignment, and the drawer does not pull out as far as it should. Put away the hair dryer, open up your tool box and do some real repair work. I don't want your sorry butt coming back every month with a hair dryer in his hand.

Oh yeah forget about the BBB, they are in bed with more than just Conn's and they won't do anything but give you lip service.

I give Conn's 1 star but with an asterisk.

I bought an HP Pavillion dv6 laptop from conns on 3-21-10, I paid cash and didn't purchase any extended warranty. The first time I turned it on to load software I realized there was something wrong with it. I called hp and for 3 days they had me do different things to try and troubleshoot the machine. They agreed that it has something wrong with it. I called Conns and they told me to come in and talk to the salesman and would leave notes for the manager to see if they could exchange it.I drive a truck and came back to town on 3-28-10 and they tell me I can't return or exchange and my only option is to leave it with them so they can send it to their service center(they told me they are one of HP's authorized service centers) They then tell me it could take up to 3 weeks to get it back. The next day HP calls me and tells me they will send me a box to send it to them for repair and I tell them their service center at conns is going to look at it and the HP rep tells me that conns is NOT an authorized HP service center for laptops, he tells me their only center is in California!!! Now I'm without my bad laptop and I'm not even sure if I should expect to get it back after reading all these reviews! IBTW I called corporate to complain and the girl tells me that conns has a 24 hour return policy,only if its returned still factory sealed in the box or if its a complete failure(does not power on)but since mine turns on I don't qualify. If I want to exchange or refund I have to pay a restocking fee(I guess to package the bad pc up and sell it to someone else) HP all the stores that sell their laptops are supposed to honor a 21 day refund exchange policy.I told the saleman(since the manager refused to even come and talk to me) that I would never buy anything from conns ever again.

Wow, I wish I had been to this website prior to my purchase. Like so many other people, the deal I got on my 60" HD tv and livingroom furniture looks a lot less exciting, now that I am a member of the Conns family needing service. Monica at the service center is very unapologetic, does not try to listen to your concerns, or to understand your situation. She just repeats and rewords the company line, almost with an attitude like "you know where the door is if you don't like it". It's frustrating because I was happy with my purchase, but the service process is extremely slow. It took 4 or 5 days to get my initial service visit on my tv. Then it took 2 weeks to get a part, and now a service appointment is not available for another week. That's a month just to do a routine lamp replacement on my television. And they're overpriced. My bill was $489 thanks to my friendly snake oil selling Conns repair man.

OMG! I wish we had done our research before buying from Conn's. These people are the most unprofessional salespeople , store managers , delivery people we have ever ever dealt with. My story is long and I won't go into it because I get so upset everytime I think about it. But "please believe me" its a nightmare in customer service. I have read all the reviews and I will be contacting the Atty. General concerning their practices. This company needs to be put out of business! Stay away from this company, even if you find a deal you think you can't pass up, you will pay dearly in the long run. Stay away from Conn's!!!!!!!!!

The Texas Attorney has filed a lawsuit on Conn??s read about it @ http://www.oag.state.tx.us/oagNews/release.php?id=3000
If you have not file a complaint with Texas Attorney General's office please do @ www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/consumer.

The Attorney General seeks civil penalties of up to $20,000 per violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act, as well as a $250,000 penalty if the defendant??s conduct financially harmed persons aged 65 or older.

I think the local BBB was conspiring with Conn??s to commit fraud; I checked Conn??s profile on the BBB web site and it showed that Conn??s had agreed to binding arbitration when they joined; but when I ask for binding arbitration the BBB closed the complaint. For what it's worth I filled a complaint with BBB's national office about the BBB in Beaumont and I intend to file a complaint on the BBB with The Attorney General.

Spread this around and make sure Conn's goes out of business.

They are rude and have an absolute 'don't care' attitude. I painted anti-Conn's slogans on my car windows and have been driving it for 2 months now. I guarantee I KNOW I have cost them over $10K in business by talking to strangers who ask about my car. It amazes me the number of other horror stories I hear! I have a 20 month old LG dishwasher that I paid $800 for along with an entire suite of appliances. It stopped working on 12/22/08 and the issue has not been resolved. Conn's customer service is TERRIBLE! DO NOT BUY ANYTHING for Conn's. You may think you are going to save a little money- it is NOT worth it. No one will return my calls, EVER! I have spent way too much of my personal time dealing with these people and tell everyone I meet to stay away!!!

Do not purchase anything from this company. We purchase a 56 inch television from them, worked well for 2 years and then quit. It took 9 weeks to get it working and it quit 1 week later. It has been repaired again and is still working. The phone calls and emails I went throught just to get someone to call me back and tell me when or if some one was coming out were unbelievable.

And now, just to prove this problem is company wide, we accidentally make our last payment on the credit account twice (this was back in december) we still havent received the refund, and we are getting the identical run-around we got with the service division.

Stay away from this company !

I normally buy my appliance from Best Buy and Circuit City, and have always received service repair within a matter of few days (3 days max). I hate I brought this big screen tv from Conn's. I recommend to anyone who reads this message to never, never, never purchase anything from Conn's. I have been living in repair assistance hell for over a month and still not resolved the problem....Easy fix brand new refrigator.

While customers call and put on hold, they message says if you buy at CONN's and need to go out and fix it but can't fix it we will replace it.

They definitely do not practice what they preach.

The Better Business Bureau should really look into this department.

I'm in enroute to couseling and on the edge of losing my job due to the repairmen coming to my home to NOT fix my refridgerator.

I too have had a bad experience with Conn's. I purchased a Torro Lawn Mower.I had to get someone to bring it home for me. After three rounds it started smoking terribly. I stopped and could see that the smoke was coming from the belt under the mower. When I found someone again to bring it in to the store we were told it would be a couple of weeks in the shop. Well it has now been 2 months. My grass has not stopped growing and I have had to pay someone to cut it. I was called and told my mower was in I was so excited. Again I had to get someone to go get it. Well my mower is not there. And through phone calls to the Repair Center they say nothing was wrong with the mower in the first place.And no one knows where my mower is. I paid for a mower but I don't have anything. I think we all need to band together and give Conn's a run for their money.There was an article in the newspaper recently about how much money they are making and about the new locations they are opening. Is this how they are getting ahead?

i am a widowed mother of 2 kids. i went into conn and told the saleman that i needed a nice window unit, because my daughter was getting very sick from the texas heat. i explain to him i need a warranty on it and i had to have one that would work. i did not want my daughter to get any sicker, she just got out of the hospital because of the heat. the very next day the window unit was freezing up. i called the man who sold me the unit and he told me to call service center. which i did and they gave me a 5 week wait to have it repaired. i explain to the man that my kid could not be sick and i had to have the unit repaired asap. he told me to only run the unit on low fan this is southeast texas a fan will not do it. i have fans allready i need air. i offered to come to the store from warren ( with the price of gas ) and trade it for another one. they do not do that. i ask if the repair man could just bring me another one till they can fix this one. they do not do that either. i ask for my money back so i could go somewhere else and by me one that worked for my kid. they do not do that either. what do they do? nothing ? after 5 days of fightening with conns my daughter was put in the hospital from the heat. she was very ill due to the heat and conns still put me on the list for repairs ( of 5 weeks ) i paid cash for this unit and extra money for the warranty. they have my money and i have the heat how fair is that? i will never buy from them again. i have a unit that looks nice in the window and no air how nice of them. if a company will not take something back or let you trade it there is something wrong. warren texas 6-17-08

Well,Sunday, the dryer quit drying so I called(Monday 8:30a.m) the store where the items were purchased. They gave me another # to call for service-which I did. The rep that answered the phone said I was not in their area and gave me another phone # which was busy for 15 minutes. Finally, I gave up and called the place of purchase again. They told me that was the only # they had for service and to call again.I called again and was told I was in their service area and they only service my area once a week on Thursday...well, since this is Monday I expected them to offer to come out on 06/5/08. They are trying to tell me that they cannot come out until 06/12/08. Exactly what I am supposed to do for 10 days with no dryer!!! I asked to speak with a supervisor to see if why with an extended warranty I should have to wait 10 days. I did not wait 10 days to pay them when I purchased my washer/dryer - I paid cash. I paid them for an extended warranty that did not stipulate I would have to wait so long for someone to come out and fix something. When I asked how many people on their list ahead of me for 06/05/08, I was told that that information was not the public's business...excuse me,it is the public that keeps Conn's in business,is it not??? I realize it's not the person on the phone's problem-but, they don't have to make it sooooo obvious that you are bothering them. I will never purchase anything from Conn's again!!! Furthermore, I do not find that their extended warranty is worth the hassle if they cannot find the time to fix sooner than that. On their web-site it says in case of emergency they may be able to come out same day-I do not expect same day-but, I do not expect to wait TEN days.

Less than a 1 star rating is appropriate for them. I scheduled a service call and apparently they overbooked the technician and just took me off his list WITHOUT even calling to set up another time. I had explained we leave on vacation in less than a week and I have a broken washer, less than 2 years old, with a purchased service agreement!! I had to call and find out why they weren't here, and then make another appointment, with no guarantee they are going to make it before the end of this week! If they don't come this week, then I am going to the store and make a real stink over there and make sure any customer coming in knows how crappy their service is!

I would have to say the service department deserves less than a one-star rating. I have been in a battle to get my product returned to me from the service department for more than three months. I have continued to pay the bill and have gotten no assistance from a rude, uncaring call center in both service and customer service. It wasn't until I decided to withhold payment and show up at the corporate office that anyone would even speak to me like a human being regarding the issue.
I was told by Tiffany Baker (ext. 3122) that she wold personally see to it that the situation was rectified but after I left the office it was clear that she, too, would not be able to or want to fix the problem. It has been a week since I in initially spoke with her and despite her repeated assertions she would contact me, I've had to call her every time I have tried to see what was going on with my product.
After I was told, yet again, that it would be an indefinite amount of time before I could hope to see the product they insist I continue to pay on, I asked if I could get my money back. No can do said Tiffany, who then told me I would need to pay a 15% restocking fee if I tried to get my money back, something she said she could not do, something I would have to wait for a call-back on. Remind you, the company has been saying I would get a call for the last three months. To date, no one has to return any call.
I have been a customer of Conn's for 10 years, but I will never again look to the company for any of my shopping needs and I would discourage others from purchasing anything from them also.

I have been witness to two horrific accounts of rude customer service, overcharged billing, unwillingness to cooperate with existing warranties, and just overall poor business ethics.
My first encounter occurred when I was working at a Lamar State College Port Arthur's theatre department's office.
We had ordered two huge flat screen plasma TV's and mounts for our stage, and they were to be delivered the next day. They promised they would charge us 899 each for the TV's and 200 each for the mounts. It didn't arrive the next day, it arrived four days after the order. We needed the TV's for a show that was opening soon, and that four days stressed us. When we unpacked the TV's, one was broken. It would not turn on. So we called and they said they would be out the next day to bring a new one and replace it. They arrived a week later. We got it up just in time. (Note: each time we called, we never got speedy, friendly service; we were always put through the ringer.) Then our financial office called us a month later. CONN'S charged us $999 each for the TV's, not $899. We called everyday for three days straight to get them to fix it. We didn't understand, we wanted to pay them, but no one would help us. We got the ringer, no one knew who could fix the problem. We left messages with everyone. The last day, we were transferred around for an hour and a half. No one was in to help us, everyone had left, or was still at lunch, or on vacation- (it was 2:30 on a Wednesday). We finally got through to someone who said it wasn't her job to help us, but she would because she felt sorry for us. We made it clear that our department would never buy from them again.

My parents had purchased a washing machine about a year and a half ago, and a warranty. So when it stopped spinning, we called them to come fix it.
They came four separate times over the course of two weeks. They didn??t fix it, and all they told my parents was: ??we??ll call you.? The next week (and lots of dirty laundry and trips to the laundromat later), they called and told us to come in tomorrow to find a replacement. They were treated to a money hungry, commission seeking, totally disrespectful sales person, who refused/ignored my parents request to see a copy of the original warranty and receipt. The girl told them at one time that the machine was less than a year old, and another that it was a year and a half. She protested when my mother implied that they would haul off the old machine, saying, "why would conn's want a broken machine." Without giving them a copy of the original receipt, she stated that my parents paid $300 to for the old machine. My parents paid over $500. She tried to blow it off by saying that it was like a car, "it depreciated in value over time, so that's why it was less." Then later she said that was what they paid, it didn't depreciate. Without an original receipt or warranty, how were they to know if that was true? This situation just happened today, and we have still not completely resolved it. We will be reporting them to the better business bereau, and it has become my job to post this all over the internet. They are an awful company, who don't care about quality or service. The way I see it, it's my duty to complain to everyone.

I have been witness to two horrific accounts of rude customer service, overcharged billing, unwillingness to cooperate with existing warranties, and just overall poor business ethics.
My first encounter occurred when I was working at a Lamar State College Port Arthur's theatre department's office.
We had ordered two huge flat screen plasma TV's and mounts for our stage, and they were to be delivered the next day. They promised they would charge us 899 each for the TV's and 200 each for the mounts. It didn't arrive the next day, it arrived four days after the order. We needed the TV's for a show that was opening soon, and that four days stressed us. When we unpacked the TV's, one was broken. It would not turn on. So we called and they said they would be out the next day to bring a new one and replace it. They arrived a week later. We got it up just in time. (Note: each time we called, we never got speedy, friendly service; we were always put through the ringer.) Then our financial office called us a month later. CONN'S charged us $999 each for the TV's, not $899. We called everyday for three days straight to get them to fix it. We didn't understand, we wanted to pay them, but no one would help us. We got the ringer, no one knew who could fix the problem. We left messages with everyone. The last day, we were transferred around for an hour and a half. No one was in to help us, everyone had left, or was still at lunch, or on vacation- (it was 2:30 on a Wednesday). We finally got through to someone who said it wasn't her job to help us, but she would because she felt sorry for us. We made it clear that our department would never buy from them again.

I just recently bought a mini shelf system radio for my room but decided to return it to get a large size for my living room instead. They had charged me a 15% restock fee even though the product was not opened nor was not even a day old. I was furious and demanded to talk to the manager because there wasn't a sign or anything stated in the return policy. The manager listened and didn't budge one bit. Regardless of losing 15% of the price value of the product which is a lot, I returned it and will never buy any from them again.

I recently used Conns Service Department in beaumont, tx for some parts that I needed for a dishwasher I had to repair. They were very helpful in finding the right part that I needed. I also looked arround for the best price and Conns had everyone else beat. if you are lookinf for a replacement part for your appliance call conns. I have also used them for other appliance parts I needed and they were helpful with them also.
