In Short
The heavenly aroma will hit you before you can even close the door and step inside Wildflower. The sachets, candles and lotions that garnish so many of the tabletops are delightful enough to almost distract from the exquisite pieces they sit upon. Visitors looking for custom-designed furniture and linens could easily spend hours here. But even those seeking smaller changes can find the perfect gem, like a chenille throw, tiled mirror or recycled-glass earrings.

The Inside Scoop

  1. The Extras - The beds are so inviting it's a wonder they can keep shoppers from cozying down inside the pillows.

Poor customer service

by Lauren R.

The customer service just isn't what it should be for an upscare home decor boutique. Rather than provide you with quality and helpful service the girls who "work" there gather around the cashwrap and talk amongst themselves. When you ask them a question rather than providing you with a sufficient answer they suggest you buy the item... it's not an environment i would suggest enduring. It's easier/cheaper to just surf their website and than google the product; not only will you find the exact same product somewhere else but you'll find it for equal or cheaper price AND get free delivery within 6 weeks.

customer service

I bought an expensive Stokke sleepy cribe system here and encountered lots of problems with it. The shop was really not efficient in resolving them and I thought that was quite disappointing considering the cost of the bed.

Wildflower

by Clover J. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,133

This is a very upscale store, but even if you don't have the money to spend on their top of the line selections you should still stop by and appreciate their wonderful selection of household stuff. They have very fancy bedding and groovy furniture for sale.

Long live a Home Grown, Organic Austin Mom and Pop Shop!

by organicshopper

Wildflower is an amazing boutique!! Inspiring, creative and organically impressive! Its such a delight, witnessing a small local operation do so well in an ever-changing city!! As a native Austinite, I have seen Austin morph into many things.. some pleasant and some not so pleasant. What I don't understand is why someone would even bother writing a nasty little comment about a mom and pop shop. Silly! Wildflower is a feast for the eyes and the sales girls there are very sweet and helpful. Long live a homegrown business that isn't a giant corporation with cardboard cut-out sales staff! We love it!! Well done!!

Pros: best selection of stylish organic and luxury goods

Cons: hmmm. can't think of one. I want to pay more to protect the environment!

Great customer service

by amyee

I entered the Lamar Wildflower to buy a mattress with trepidation after reading the negative reviews on this site. I was ready to be critical, but was instead blown away by the woman who helped me. She was knowledgeable about the products, not pushy, got back to me via email with answers to some follow-up questions and never made me feel guilty for being economical in my decision-making (rather than trying to ?up-sell? me). It was a great experience.

Pros: Good range of mattresses for a small store; knowledgeable staff; great customer service

Cons: Expensive, but no more than elsewhere for similar stuff

Shop Walmart!

by jfinney1

Walmart has a greeter at their door...and their prices are lower for home items. Also they are everywhere and easy to get to. So why shop any where else?

Organic baby clothing and mattresses...

by softspace

Wildflower has a great selection of organic items for your little one, as well as contemporary cribs. They have recently expanded their baby collection so if its been a while stop by...and check out their organic mattresses for mom and dad while you are there.

Beautiful linens

by thecocoapod

This place has beautiful linens and a lot of them are organic. The problem is that they are outrageously expensive. The sales staff is snotty and unhelpful. Some of the staff are so plain-faced they look spaced out.

Pros: Environmentally friendly, High Quality

Cons: Snotty staff, Overpriced

If its good enough for Sandra Bullock and the first Lady its good enough for me !

by trishwhite

I have shopped at Lamar on a regular basis for 6 years . Austin is lucky to have such a world class store ! I know the owners work very hard , and travel a long way to share their unique sense of style with Austin . Yes , the staff can be overwhelmed , and spread too thin , but I have never encountered rudeness , infact I find them to be very helpful and charming. some of us like to be left in peace to shop and not hounded by overzealous sales staff . Plus, you never know who you will run into at wildflower on a Saterday morning !

Pros: huge inventory

Cons: expensive

You're Just Going to the Wrong Wildflower

by tomster

The Wildflower at the Davenport location provides a much more pleasant shopping experience. The sales assistant at this location is friendly, knowledgeable and extremely courteous. She pretty much is in charge of the entire show, including inventory purchase decisions, and her taste in fine interior decorations is extraordinary. Anyone. including the extremely particular folks that live in this rather exclusive area of town, would be proud to adorn their homes with Wildflower's products.

By the way. I am not one of the fortunate few who can afford to shop regularly at this store. Still, I'm treated with patience and courtesy. If the staff at the Lamar location has turned you off then by all means give the Davanport location a try.

Pros: Courteous staff; high quality goods

Cons: Expensive

Arrogant Staff With Nice Showroom

by austin_designer

This staff is the worst I have ever experienced! The showroom floor is nice, so I would look but then be sure to buy some where else! All their merchandise can be purchased elsewhere and with a nice attitude and smile. Also, if you are not having a good day and want to shop and buy to make your day better, DO NOT SHOP HERE! It will make your day worse! How a place like this can stay in business with no consumer respect and courtesy perplexes me! Happy shopping elsewhere!

Pros: Parking

Cons: Very Rude Employess

Pretty stuff, but the snottiest service in Austin

by lilstirfry

The stuff they have, although pricey, is of excellent quality and I can't deny that I LOVE all of it. However, the rudeness and indifference of the staff was shocking. I think it's definitely the kind of store where people without the means would still go for a splurge - and I was ready to splurge! But they were so stuck up I left and vowed never to return. I ended up going to their other location in Davenport Ranch yesterday (with much trepidation), but the lady there was much nicer and helpful and even acknowledged that the prices for some of their linens were exorbitant. I felt comfortable and I bought the most luxurious sheets I have ever owned and I plan to go back for the matching shams today.

Pros: beautiful wares

Cons: sucky staff

Great service & selection

by kimmyana

I found the staff to be extremely knowledgable and helpful, and very pleasant to work with. I only wish they carried natural crib mattresses and bedding as well!
