Worked after a few sessions, however it was too expensive. Too bad, because it was starting to help.

Doctor Wang really cares for people and wants to help heal without using drugs (only uses acupuncture treatments, special and specific teas, and herbs ... that are all natural and safe with no side effects)! Dr. Wang is "a breath of fresh air" in a western society that pushes and bomb-bards us with pharmaceutical drugs on t.v. and by people in the health industry! #1.) Dr. Wang has helped to heal my majorly injured foot by a combination of acupuncture treatments and his special teas and hebs in tablet form! #2.) Dr. Wang has helped me to actually get a good night's sleep, by taking his "Peaceful Mind" herbal tablets for the past two weeks ... I now get a restful sleep at last. This is really nice since I have dealt with very little sleep all my life due to snoring waking me up constantly. Now I can actually do better during the day ... because I am now rested rather than dragging along and being more prone to getting sick (from not getting enough sleep).
#3.) Dr. Wang has also helped with my allergies ... I never experienced any allergies until we moved to Austin and it turns out that Austin rates number one in the world for allergies! Now I'm off all those allergy meds that never really worked completely for me anyway (and the natural herbs do not make me drowsy, etc. ... so I can drive a vehicle without risking my life or others on the road)! Yes, I'm so thankful that Dr. Wang is helping heal people - (including me)!!!

I was Dr. Wang's student 10 years ago. He is a genius. Even though he is already a genius, he continues to study and learn every day. I found his effectiveness and insight superior to any practitioner. He is the best Chinese herbalist in America, in my opinion. I wish I could refer my tough cases to him, but I'm in Dallas. In addition to his brilliance in Chinese medicine, he is a very kind, caring person.

First please let me clarify: I'm not here to criticize Dr. Wang's practice. I'm just sort of annoyed by all the shining stars here when I came back to city search and bumped into this page again. I was drawn to Dr. Wang's office because of all the 22 wonderful reviews and straight five stars. My experience was nothing near impressive, and I was very disappointed. Com'on, think about it. Wouldn't you expect something just as good as, or at least half as good as what the other 22 people said? So my advice to you, and to myself, is that what others said is just what they said. You won't know how true it is to you until you try it out yourself. I'm not against you visiting Dr. Wang at all. Maybe your case falls in the range of Dr. Wang's expertise knowledge.

Dr. Wang is the best. My children and I have been going to him for years. He is gentle and very compassionate. He listens. I know other acupuncturists in town who send their tougher cases to Dr. Wang. His herbs are amazing. They work! My personal favorites are the Allergy herbs and Peaceful Mind. I highly recommend him.

I have very bad knees from years of skateboarding, then many years of cycling and running. My ability to engage in these activities has been determined by the amount to knee pain I am feeling at any given time. I used to ride 100 ? 150 miles a week, and lately it is no more than 30 miles. I went to Sherry Hsiu-Huei Lee at Acupuncture Plus mainly to try to relieve the chronic pain I feel in my knees, not necessarily to make them better. She is a very knowledgeable and patient person who listens intently. She gave me a conservative estimate of the benefits of acupuncture, and told me that she thought it would help me. I was willing to try it, in that I have tried everything except surgery, which seemed inevitable. Sherry spends a long time at each visit meticulously going over any area of my body that she thinks might be in pain or might be negatively affecting my knees. She takes the time to explain what she is doing and how it will help, which is very important to me. For the three days between my first and second visit, my knees were not popping and cracking as they normally do. They were sore, but not in the normal aching way; they were sore like they had been exercised. After my second appointment, I was walking down the stairs with no knee pain and realized I couldn?t remember the last time it didn?t hurt to go down stairs. When I report these results to Sherry, she was very happy, but not at all surprised. Currently, my knees are better than they have been in many years and I am very optimistic about the future. I feel as if I have been given another chance. I would recommend Sherry Hsiu-Huei Lee without reservation to anyone with similar sports injuries. My only regret is not finding her sooner.

I've been seeing both Dr. Wang and Dr. Lee at Acupuncture Plus for two years, for my chronic asthma and bronchitis. In all cases, I have left their office feeling better after the very first session, and they bring me to full health within 3 - 5 sessions. They're very caring, supportive healers. I would never, ever go back to Western medicine to treat asthma. Relying on rescue inhalers, steroid inhalers, bronchio-dilators and antibiotics is no way to live! With acupuncture and Chinese herbs -- I go about once a year, for several sessions at a time -- I never have asthma anymore. I now do triathlons, run 10Ks, rode my bicycle this year in the 45-mile Hill Country Ride for AIDS -- none of which I could have done just a few years ago, when I had asthma attacks every day. Now, I call Acupuncture Plus at the first sign of chest tightness or bronchitis, and Drs. Wang and Lee bring me quickly back to health.

Pros: It works, long-term! And no bad side effects!

Cons: A bit expensive, unless your health ins. covers it.

I am a practising R/n for the past 17years, recently my husband Steve was diagnosed with having a Herniated disc (L4-L5). He was put on pain medicine round the clock, but he did not have much relief .He was not able to walk , sit or stand for more than a second, before the pain would start which radiated to his thighs down to his knees forcing him to fall to his knees. So I went online to search for an acupuncture center when I cam across Dr Guoen Wang clinic ,after I read his qualifications I was very impressed and called him asking him if he could cure my husband, without hesitation he told me with confidence that he had treated a lot cases like my husband and to send him that very morning at 10.30am. My husband went for his appointment and came home very impressed as ,after the very first sitting he was now able to stand without the pain radiating to his thighs,Dr Wang had also started him on herbal medications which he felt added to his recovery. With just eight sitting my husband was back on his feet, and back to work,I now strongly feel that people with chronic back pain ,who live their lifes depending on pain medication should try Acupuncture it really helps..........specially people with herniated disc's or slip disc's ,who are thinking of surgery should try Acupuncture first to see if it helps them.

Dr. Wang, thank you once again for this miracle you performed on my husbands back with your treatment.

I became a patient of oriental medicine quite a few years back because of almost intractable sinus pain......at that point I was driving about 140 miles east way from Alpine, TX, to San Angelo, TX, for Drs Liu and Xu. It took about 6 treatments, spaced a week apart to stop the pain and now a treatment a year takes care of the sinus pain.

Drs Liu and Xu returned to China about 4 years ago and I searched for an Acupuncturist near me, but finally found Dr. Guoen Wang in Austin, about 340 miles away but a place I do have occasion to visit. By then my problem was numbness in my hands and forearms, the beginnings of carpal tunnel syndrome. A year ago in the spring I was in Austin regularly enough for him to stop the numbness. Now I'm having more trouble getting to Austin, but as often as I can I will see Dr Guoen Wang because he gives me more help than conventional medicine.

Ten years ago, there was an incident where I was hurt and there was damage done to my back. Four years ago, I started to have digestive problems, and in the last year, I started having migraine headaches and energy issues. So knowing what I was faced with I was ready to give up on feeling good and was prepared to live the rest of my life in pain and suffer from digestive problems. Then a friend of mine told me about Dr. Wang and I was curious and skeptical of what acupuncture was and what it could do for me. When I had the first treatment I was not sure of what to expect and Dr. Wang put me at ease right a way. It was like a regular doctors visit, he took my information, and he discussed my problems with me and then mentioned how many treatments it would take to get back to feeling good again. Being at ease with him, but knowing what I was going to have done to me, I wanted to pay close attention to him placing the needles into my skin. It was painless and only a couple of times it felt uncomfortable; otherwise I thought it was cool. He treated one side for twenty minutes and then the other side for the same time. After the treatment, I felt like I was walking on clouds and did not understand what just took place. Then we talked a little and then he gave me some herbs for the energy problems and some other herbs for the migraine headaches. I went thought this process five more times and after each session, I felt even better than the time before. I began to notice that I was not having back pain, my digestive problems cleared up, and my energy was up. As for the migraine headaches, they lessened in intensity and eventually cleared up. I am grateful for Dr. Wang_s acupuncture treatments because he was able to help me with my health troubles. Now I can put those issues behind me and look forward to a healthy life once again.

I had resolved myself to a life of pain from three degenerated discs. My body was slowly deteriorating from my travel schedule as a motivational speaker and I felt I was facing a life of poor health. A friend suggested I see Dr. Guoen Wang. My initial visit with Dr. Wang was most encouraging for he literally told me I could be healthy and live pain free. I was a bit skeptical but willing to try anything at this point in my 55 years.

Even at my first visit I found I relaxed and slept during the treatment, an amazing, relaxing rest. I started to look forward to my treatments because I felt so euphoric during and after, but several days after the sixth visit I realized I had been pain free for several days! I could not believe it I could not believe that I could move, bend and lift as I had not in years. I continued through the eight-week treatment, and then did not go in for regular visits.
Again, I found myself experiencing pain. When I went back to Dr. Wang I found that what I really needed to do was to schedule periodic tune-ups.

Then I had an annual physical only to discover that I had elevated cholesterol. The medical doctors were less than hopeful, and quite frankly, frightened me to death with my prognosis. I went to see Dr. Wang, who not only encouraged me, but also told me I could live a comfortable life pain-free with normal cholesterol.

Ive had multiple problems with menopause, back pain, cholesterol and minor ailments. At age 57, I have learned that acupuncture is a means to keep me healthy, pain-free and feeling great for many, many years. I have a healthy appetite and sleep like a baby if I get my tune-ups!
Dr. Wang and I decided that I will live to age 85 or maybe longer.

In the winter of 1999, after years of deteriorating health due to asthma, I found myself in the emergency room of Brackenridge Hospital, struggling to breathe as I received steroid breathing treatment after steroid breathing treatment. After three of these breathing treatments my pulse was racing at a rate that was dangerous for my heart, yet I still could not breathe. At this point, the emergency room doctor determined that I would have to be admitted to the hospital and given treatments every four hours until I could breathe again. This went on all night and the next day. Finally, after two horrible days and nights, I was able to draw a decent breath of air.

This is when the doctors working on my case came into my hospital room and told me that Id have to take cortico-steroids for the rest of my life. This both disturbed and frightened me. I knew that steroids cause brittle bones among other negative side effects, and I didnt believe that the medicine would be effective against my asthma for the rest of my life. After leaving the hospital, I talked with friends about my options, and soon enough a trusted friend convinced me to try acupuncture. I was both skeptical and scared Id always been terrified of needles but I decided I had to give it a try.

That was the best decision I could have made. I went to acupuncture once a week at first, then every other week, drinking herbal teas every day. Finally, after about six months of regular treatments and herbs, I was off my routine inhalers for the first time in ten years something I thought would never be possible. Its now been over three years since Ive needed regular medication. I still take herbs and receive acupuncture treatments a few times a year, but am almost free of symptoms. I hope one day to have my full health restored, and believe it will happen with the help of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

After having a stroke at the early age of 43, I became very ill with stomach problems. The doctors had no answer for the pain and nausea I was experiencing. Only many pills. One doctor said that I would have pain the rest of my life. A friend of mine who has cancer recommended her acupuncturist who has provided continued support even when her doctors had told her
they had done all they could do. She was quite well from her acupuncture and amazed her doctors. I had to see the acupuncturist twice a week for many months, but I was finally well. No more pills. I cannot thank acupuncturists enough.

I am a 66 year old woman and have been a happy and satisfied client of Dr. Wang since he came to Austin, and I came to him with a variety of ailments, physical and emotional over the years. In fact, the only times that I went to a western doctor were for my annual well-woman check-ups and tests with a gynecologist, and vision tests.

He has successfully treated me for stress, colds, cholesterol reduction, cataracts, a tooth, hair and toenail, and more. Many times I have gone to him with the burdens of life either dragging me down to depression or causing me to have anxiety. I would leave his office after acupuncture relieved of those symptoms and being a happy person again.

If I had cold or allergy problems, he could lessen the time I was uncomfortable with that ailment, using acupuncture and herbs.

In 2000 I started taking herbs for my hair to thicken and renew its color. An added benefit was a toenail that renewed its health. Since an injury as a teenager, a toenail was disfigured, dark and attached only partially. Every year or so it would come off. But now it is almost back to normal, no more black, and much more attractive too!

When I was in Austin I would see Dr. Wang every 8 weeks for a "tune up" as we called it. This kept me feeling great and my health to maximum. Two years ago I followed my daughters to live in Florida, and my biggest concern was leaving Dr. Wang. I'm sorry to say that I have not found his equal here. I might have to come back to Austin!

It was spring of 96 and the quickie guerrilla septic system was well full and just not working anymore. It was time to dig it out and replace it. I started digging, and as it was all sand the digging went pretty fast. I got into a flow and dug away all day long. Woke up the next morning and got to digging some more. The hole ended up being 15 feet long and where the fifth barrel was placed 11 feet deep, all hand dug. Towards the middle of that second day I noticed a new pain on the left side of my groin. Didn't stop me from digging though. So I proceeded till the hole was complete.

The discomfort had increased a bit so after I cleaned up I set to checking myself out to see what was amiss. After a bit of probing I figured it out. I'm a registered nurse, but have let usage of allopathy go as Chinese Medicine is so superior a healing modality. I still know my nursing chops though and was pretty well bummed out at what I had discovered was wrong with me. I had popped an inguinal hernia. Dayum! This was Friday.

The first thing I did was call Guoen to set up an appointment for Saturday. I had a doctor living on the commune with me so I had him check it out that Friday evening. He concurred and told me that treatment by allopathy would require a $5000 operation that would leave me incapacitated for weeks, be extremely painful for months, and was 50% successful.
I got to Guoens office Saturday morning and got my needling as well as a prescription for some herbs. Before leaving I got an appointment for the following Saturday.

The following Saturday I got my second treatment and was instructed to let Guoen know if I needed another for the third Saturday. I didn't. Hernia was healed with those two treatments and I've never had as much as a twinge from that area since.

When I saw Dr. Wang in March, I had developed a terrible infection in the corner of my mouth that had spread down into my jaw. The whole side of my face was swollen. After taking the Free and Easy Wanderer Plus Formula for only 2 days the swelling was gone and my infection was all but gone. Within about 4 days there was not trace of a problem. I was so impressed.

I am 57 although I look 10 years younger. I have always looked and felt young for my age until about a year ago. Something happened and I started to feel like my brain was "blocked". I couldn't think with clarity or concentrate for any length of time. I began to feel sluggish...and old. There was a heaviness and dullness, a "blockage" at the base of my skull that just wouldn't go away. No matter how many hours of sleep I got or how long my walks were or how many neck massages I gave myself, this feeling wouldn't go away. I started to worry. Maybe my true age was starting to catch up with me. Was this how I was supposed to feel? I didn't believe it. There are to many others out there who are "on top" of everything and who are years older than me! This feeling wasn't going to take over my life! I hesitate to go to a medical doctor, as I am not eager to fill my body with chemicals and this just didn't feel like something a medical doctor would be able to fix or even understand. My Husband, who had made the acquaintance of Dr. Wang through his work, suggested I go see him. I had never been to an acupuncturist and harbored some doubts, but when Larry told me Dr. Wang was also an herbalist I decided to give him a call and open my heart to this new experience. Dr. Wang listened carefully to my symptoms and seemed to understand what I was talking about. Within just a couple of visits I was feeling much better. The feeling of being "blocked" was giving away to clarity again. With acupuncture and herbs my body was returning to the feeling of youth and vigor that I had always felt. I continue to take an herbal mixture that Dr. Wang makes for me and, when I feel the need, will return periodically for an acupuncture "tune-up". I am very thankful to Dr. Wang. His knowledge and gentle, personable, nurturing manner is refreshing and reassuring. It is a pleasure to go to his office.

In February of 2002 I woke up with a sharp, excruciating pain in my left shoulder, in the back, near my underarm. I went to a western doctor, who first gave me arthritis pill samples, I think, then steroids and pain pills after the second visit. The pain pills helped a little, while they were in my bloodstream, but all the steroids did was make me want to eat everything (food, that is) in sight. After this second visit, he told me surgery was the next option. I left his office and never went back.

Then I came to Dr. Wang. He checked my pulses on each side, looked at my tongue and eyes, and told me I had an energy blockage in my shoulder, caused by phlegm. I asked if he could help, and he said yes, with some Chinese herbs and several acupuncture sessions.

When I left his office that first time, I felt relieved, and though I'd had an acupuncture treatment, my arm still hurt, although not quite as much. Dr. Wang had said I might not like the herb mixture, but I did like it. After my second visit, the pain dropped down to about 75% of what it had been when I first came in, but went back up to about 95% by the time I arrived for my third visit. After the third, it dropped back to about 75% and never went any higher.

Dr. Wang placed needles in different combinations of places on my front and back on each visit. By the fourth visit, the pain was at about 50%. Also, the herbs were making me feel better in general. I was surprised that the pain was slipping away. By the fifth visit, the pain was at 40%, and Dr. Wang told me I needed only about 2 more visits. By the seventh visit, the pain was down to about 5%, and now it's almost non-existent. There is a little bit of tingling in my arm, and the tip of my index finger is a tad numb, but otherwise I feel great, and the herbs helped my constitution in general. Dr. Wang was always extremely polite, gentle, kind and respectful. He has the knowledge, presence, and temperament of a true healer.

I am a 42 year old male who is in good physical condition from practicing Tae Kwon Do and playing baseball in the Mens Senior Baseball League. I have had a chronic problem with my neck which I injured 18 years ago. I also injured my lower back 2 years ago playing baseball. I have been seeing chiropractors regularly for the past 2 years. I attempted to water ski over the 4th of July and aggravated my neck injury. A couple of days later my whole spine was extremely stiff and I had pains shooting through the back of my skull, all the way down to my pelvic bone. I went to see Dr. Wang on the recommendation of an instructor of mine who had visited Dr. Wang to relieve his back condition and had felt much better after the treatment.
Dr. Wang explained to me that I might need 3 visits in order to treat my condition. After the 1st visit I felt about 90% relieved, and after the second visit my spine was so loose 7 limber that I was amazed. I felt as good as I had felt since my lower back injury 2 years ago.

My wife and I have unsuccessfully tried to have a baby through invitro-fertilization and will be seeking the treatments of Dr. Wang soon to try acupuncture as another means of having a baby through natural child birth. I am confident that if anyone can help us Dr. Wang can.
Dr. Wang is a classy individual, one who truly cares about his patients well being. I would highly recommend Dr. Wang to any individual seeking to promote his or her health.

When I was 30 I developed tendonitis in my right elbow. The pain was so bad that I soon was in a sling. I was unable to use my arm--unable to brush my teeth, to open a jar, or to write. Physical therapy helped, but when I stopped going the symptoms returned. A friend recommended acupuncture. After two sessions I was cured.

Since that time I have returned periodically for other problems: shoulder and leg pains, back pains, and carpal tunnel syndrome. Acupuncture not only is a pain relief, but a great relaxer. It reduces stress and keeps my body healthy. I really don't know what I would do without it.

In 1986, I was diagnosed by a western internist as having Grave's disease, or hyperthyroidism. Hyperthyroidism puts the body in a constant fight or flight mode, with an increased heart rate (my resting pulse was over 80), weight loss, anxiety, extreme weakness, fatigue, and difficulty catching one's breath.

I decided to see an acupuncturist instead. I remember feeling better after my first treatment. I started a regimen of treatments every five days, along with herbs. The treatments and herbs immediately controlled my run-away pulse rate, which in turn made me feel much less breathless and exhausted. Over the course of three months, I began to feel stronger and stronger as my depleted muscles gained mass. Since this experience, traditional Chinese medicine has been the primary health care for me, as well as for my partner and our child. It has headed off colds and flu, helped with menstrual problems, promptly broken fevers as high as 103 degrees, helped fractures heal, helped me sleep eight hours a night without waking, helped to regulate my energy to make it more consistent, enhanced my body's ability to process and extract the nutrients from my food, and supported my physical and mental health by treating my whole body and mind in an integrated fashion.

The only things I go to western doctors for now are regular pap smears, dental work, and if I need it, surgery. But I will always support any western intervention with acupuncture and herbs because nothing else supports the integrity of my whole body like traditional Chinese medicine.
I so appreciate all you do and have done to support my health, the health of Joy and Julia Kate, and the health of my friends and acquaintances who are smart enough to visit you.

Working with Dr. Wang provides me a fresh start. He understands and supports my goal to be healthy. Through acupuncture and Chinese herbs, I am slowly turning brokenness into wholeness, illness into health, and distress into joy.

In the two years I have worked with Dr. Wang, acupuncture, and Chinese herbs, I am healthier than I can remember. Allergies that once took me to hospital Emergency Rooms are all but gone. Even in the high allergy climate of Central Texas, even with continued travel, my ears and sinuses are clear, and gagging coughs are a thing of the past. Together, we are cultivating my immune system like rich fertile soil to support my wellness.

Most dramatically, my back pain is managed, if not cured. Dr. Wang listened to me and to my body. Acupuncture and Chinese herbs now allow me to sleep through the night without being awakened by back pain. I can now stoop to work in my garden. I can get in and out of an automobile without assistance. I can bend over to pick up something without risk of a paralyzing pain that once brought me to my knees.

The approach Dr. Wang and I use for my back and immune system is gentle. I am learning patience. I now apply the same strength of commitment to my health as I committed to work for so many years. I am changing my habits. I am listening and responding to my body. And, I am grateful for health.

My experience with Chinese medicine is not one of some miraculous recovery or some serious problem solved, but rather one of health, balance, and healing. Eight years ago, I discovered that there were options to modern medicine and finding and maintaining a state of bodily health. Over those years, I have had a number of accidents and medical problems that required a visit to someone medically trained. In several cases, my injuries sent me to the hospital, chiropractor or the emergency room. Fortunately, none of my cases were serious enough to leave me without options. In every situation, I was able to seek alternative solutions to surgery, painkillers, and other expensive treatments. Chinese medicine has been my choice of option since discovering that it to is a valid form of healing.

Not only have I found it effective, I have found it to be much more compatible with actual healing as opposed to being fixed or repaired. Although so seemingly foreign, Chinese medicine has a comprehensive and thorough understanding of the actual workings of the body, and has found a way in which balance and health may be attained when the body is sick and out of balance, as well as aiding in the healing of physical injury.

I am grateful that Dr. Wang has been part of that experience, and I give my best wishes to his success.

I was so pleased to hear that you gave my husband Curt the herbs that my children, Judah and Meadow, need to get through the winter! You are so kind and generous, I am amazed at your gift. Thank you, we are grateful. I don't know if I have ever thanked you for the care you have given to me and my children. I can say that there is no other practitioner that I would trust in before you, Dr. Wang. I feel so blessed that we have found you and I am still amazed at the healing you have brought to me and the kids.

While in Laredo, TX a few years back, I picked up a nasty little parasite. My health insurance had just lapsed so I spent thousands of dollars on doctor visits and tests. I saw a Gastroenterologist and an Internist. Their finale diagnosis was I.B.S., irritable bowel syndrome. They said I would just have to live with it. I couldnt see that given what I had been through, I was miserable.

A friend told me about a place in south Austin that had wonderful Chinese medicine. I arrived to find Dr. Wang, after being in his presence only a few moments I felt I was in the right place. I was right! Dr. Wang gave me herbs to make a tea that I was to drink several times a day. In three weeks my symptoms were gone and I felt great. Since then, Dr. Wang has helped my whole family. He has successfully treated incontinence, A.D.D. and soon he will be treating my husband for nicotine addiction. I have been diagnosed with a gallstone from a recent C.T. and rather than having surgery I plan on seeing Dr. Wang for treatment

Dr. Wangs gentle manner, wisdom and knowledge of the human body keep my family and me from the pitfalls of ill health. Chinese medicine is well medicine. A program of preventative maintenance is highly recommended by this humble soul.
