The Purple Onion has the very best potato salad in Dallas County -- just like Mama would make. When I attend a gathering that requires taking a side dish, I always depend on the Onion to make mine. I buy two quarts, put it in a pretty bowl and I'm the hit of the party -- everyone wants my receipe!!!! Try it - you'll love it !!

While frantically searching for take-out food during my pathetic 30 min lunch break,the eye-catching purple building caught my attention. I must say, by far the best home cooking around town.It has a warm homey family air to it. I was in&out in less than 10 minutes with a hot plate of mouth-watering beef tips & rice, veggies, &yams(MMMM)...mmm...that was well over 7 hours ago, and I'm still in a state of pleasure over the meal. ha! two-thumbs up!

MY experience was not good I diid not like the food. The chichen fried steak was the frozen one from the store. The service sucked it took an hour to get my food. I did not like The purple onion.

Best place in the area for home cooking. Great selection on the menu and lunch specials are a great value! Vegetables are always hot and fresh! The staff is quick and efficient and the guys at the couter are fantastic. Great choice for lunch and/or breakfast.

I've had a few bad experiences eating in this area at these type diners for lunch, but whoa was I impressed! This place has a wonderful atmosphere. It looks like it's family owned. They are sweet and greet you right when you come in. They offer TONS of stuff with a wide array of sides to choose from. I especially like the gyros and veggie burger and steak fries. A wonderful place to unwind on your lunch break. A+ all the way. This place is top notch.
