Food is satisfactory; I got the philly with blue cheese, which was about 8 bucks and is one of their specialties. The meat was lean, and the bread was soft, but there wasn't much blue cheese, which made it a bit of a rip off. I'll probably go back and try something else, though.

Finally ate there today for the first time. My girlfriend and I split a burger since we also wanted to drink a couple of beers amd not get too full. The burger was great, and even better is that they actually split it onto two plates, both with it's own condiments/fries, which I thought was super cool of them! We sat in the neat little courtyard out back, which is an amazing piece of history in itself...with the OLD surrounding brick walls! The whole building is a Houston treasure, and the kitchen is right there by the front window, so you can watch them cook from the sidewalk. Everything was very clean, from the dining room, to the outside courtyard, to the bathrooms. Prices were great. I don't give it five stars only because "it's just a hamburger" (everyone claims to have the best burger in Houston, and there's lots of good ones...just like this great one...but I've yet to find one that is over the top by any stretch), and the service was good for a "bar"...but less than enthusiastic for a "grill" (we had to go ask for menus). Perfect mix of "burger and bar", in my opinion, and I'll be back for sure!

Pros: Great burger and a nice and clean bar.

Friends recommended this place for its burgers and they are great. But on Wednesday its Enchilada Verde, made fresh they are something to look forward to in the middle of the week. All white meat chicken and a Verde sauce as yummy as yummy can be. Spanish rice and beans on the side its a plate full. Never mind the value its one of the best plates in town. So as they say in the Windy City "Eat Early and Eat Often".

Stopped in here after being convinced by my colleague the burgers were excellent. I had the Blue Cheese burger while he had regular cheeseburger. Delicioso! Meat juicy, flavorful and a great deal! Service was quick for a work week downtown and we will definitely be back!

We live downtown and eat regularly at Market Square . . . Maggie/Neil the waiter staff and cooks are to die for . . . they make you feel like family. Every time I go I feel as if I am in a local SOHO NYC corner bar/restaurant. A home away from home is Market Square. Nightly specials are always good. Their Porkchops would make your Momma smile they are so good. It'a a TEN for good inexpensive food.

I'm a student at U of H - Downtown and its only a few blocks walk to this burger mecca. Burgers are flame grilled, staff is friendly, good beer selection, and even though its a bar also you dont leave reaking like smoke. Prices are good even on a students budget.

Great burgers, excellent service by waitresses and grill personnel. so if anybody likes to enjoy a great burger or sandwich from their menu, this is the place to go, take along your sweetheart, friends or family, after visiting the Grill, everybody will agree with my review that i decided to make of this excellent place.

This place is NEVER too crowded, NEVER too loud and NEVER off my mind for a good eat! I love the location and the outside seating with the fountains and the vines in the back... it's historic I think. Anywho, the beer is cheap and BOY what a variety. I love the food, especially the burgers, and it's inspiring enough to write a poem everytime you visit. Good waitstaff too! Everyone I take falls in love with it but can never find it when they try to go without me! It's my little secret.

We happened upon this restaurant by chance, but have been coming back regularly. The burgers and sandwiches are excellent (our favorites include the Pete's philly cheesesteak that includes jalapenos and blue cheese, as well as the Jalapeno burger), and are reasonably priced. Decent beer selection as well. The atmosphere is laid back and cozy. Just one block from metro stop, bars and clubs on Main Street.

the best burger downtown.........without a doubt........i've eaten the burgers at msb&g many times and they have been consisitently good........worth dealing with the parking fiasco downtown..........

outdoor patio in the back is excellent for cocktails..........good beer selection...........one of the few remaining joints that still sell lone star beer on tap.........

the crowd is hit or miss for the after-work happy hour........sometimes it's lively, sometimes it mellow......depending on your mood, you could find it to suit your needs.........

This is the downtown bar & grill for traditionalists who like good food, reasonably priced drinks, a friendly bartender, and don't need ultra-modern decor to feel trendy.

Everything I expected. The food was great. I took the family before a 6:05 Astros game and it was fine for kids, but this place is definetly a bar and would not be kid friendly after hours. Within walking distance of Minute Maid Park. They forgot the cheese on my daughters burger but corrected the mistake quickly and cheerfully. Definetly reccomend

I have found no better Saturday lunch than a martini (or two) and blue cheese burger at Market Square Bar & Grill. The MSB&G has been known for years for its martinis, winning more than one readers poll somewhere or another, but the food is also quite consistently good. Another favorite, if you like blue cheese, is their Philly cheese steak made with, you got it, blue!
