Country Acres Kennels is the best

by Candy R.

I board my dog there as well as having sent him through the training program and I believe that this is the best care there is anywhere in the country. I have boarded dogs at other facilites as I have moved around the country and have found Country Acres to be the best. Unlike a lot of other Kennels where you drop off the pet at the front desk, they have an open door policy and encourage you to see where your pet is boarding and the activities that they participate in.

Demotivating

by Nevi S.

I noticed that during a consultation with a trainer, how demotivating she could be. She was absolutely greedy. I am not sure if this kennel is bad, but certainly, if they have such employees (Trainers) who are rude and so very sales minded, it anyways creates an impression for the kennel. My experience was negative with this lady trainer who mentioned that I either get involved with their most expensive program or find a new home for my dog. She also mentioned that my dog is coming with a package of bad behaviours. Well....she fails to understand that my dog is 3 months old and is still in the puppy stage. "No dog is bad" Very important is that we dog owners go for training since we need help in raising the dog to be a member of our family and not to get demotivated or to get ripped off. She had no manners and was taking advantage of me being the "first time dog owner"

A great place for your dog

by Lori B.

I was not much of a dog person until after my daughter wanted a rescue puppy, I decided that we needed training for our new dog. We heard about Country Acres Kennel from a friend who was very impressed with the training. We enrolled our Border Collie mix (Lucy) and my daughter into Junior Training classes. I have been very pleased with the results. My daughter has learned how to properly train a dog. Lucy has learned to be a very delightful companion. She went from trying to herd us by nipping at our hands and running over us to sitting and politely waiting for us to play. We have received so many compliments about our dog Lucy's behaviour that we cannot count them.A year later, my daughter ended up working for the kennel. She has reported that the facilities are always cleaned and disinfected. every day. The owners of Country Acres Kennel are meticulous about the care of the dogs and the treatment of their employees.Once at the holidays, I had mistakenly thought that Country Acres Kennel was open to check in for kennel reservations when they were not. If I was not able to check my dog in, I would have missed seeing my son who was in the military. I called the owner and she made an exception and allowed me to check my dog in early on Sunday morning despite not officially being open. This is a really great place to train and kennel your dog.

A great place for basic dog training and dog care

by Charles W.

We took our German Shepard to Country Acres for basic obedience class and and it worked out great. We also take Lily to Doggie Day Out there about once a week and she really likes that! It is a safe place for well behaved dogs to play with each other. Country Acres is a good clean professionally run facility.

The best place for boarding and training

by Elaine N.

We have taken all of our dogs to Country Acres over the past 13 years and we would not go anywhere else. We have done boarding, puppy classes, doggy daycare and basic obedience training. The staff are friendly, knowedgeable, professional and obviously love dogs. Because of the training the staff have done with our dogs and us,we have dogs that are well socialized and well behaved. We recommend Country Acres as the place to use to anyone who asks. This is the place for boarding and training your dog.

The best care you can get for your pet

by toby d.

I have taken my dog here for years and can tell you that the management and staff have always been professional and open in their handling of the animals. The entire facility is aways "open door" and they welcome any of us to tour the grounds at any time. I have recomended them to my friends and they have sent their friends there as well with good results. One of the better features is the fact that, unlike most of the "9 to 5" kennels, the management at Country Acres is on site and always available for the dogs first. I would not leave my pet anywhere else!!!

Don't Take Your Dog Here

by mary j.

I use to work here and if it weren't for loving employees your dogs would never be taken care of. They bathe outside in the winter, the 30 min playtime's are 5 mins if your lucky, employees don't get a lunch, when you leave your dog there they think they have the right to hit them with a rubber hose (any extremes necessary). I just want your dog to be safe!

Response from this business:

That's A Lie! replied on 01/07/09
We have checked the personnel files and this person "Mary J" has not worked for the kennel ever. In addition, we are one of the few boarding facilities in the country that insists the owners go with us to put their dogs in and take their dogs out of runs. We have capacity for over 300 dogs, hence, owners are constantly in the kennel. We insist new customers take a tour, hence we have new customers in the kennel daily. Playtimes are either 15 minutes or 2 hours in duration. We do not offer "30 minute playtimes". As for the "no lunch" and "rubber hose", I will attest that this is a lie. Unfortunately, the reviewer was probably the ex-employee we fired for dereliction of duties. We expect a lot from our employees and they will be let go if they cannot do the job. Fortunately we have some employees that have been with the kennel a long time, one for over 20 years and another over 10 years. I would invite "Mary J" to come forward and tell us her real name and motivation for this contemptuous review.

If you want the best for you dog, this is the only place to go

by robert h.

I started bringing my dog here when I moved to Texas. In a few short weeks they were able to help him, and me to become trained and obedient. He no longer jumps up, runs away etc. The training was intense and interactive and continues way past the class you paid for, as they say it's a lifetime committment. Since then my dog (and me) have some much fun that we go there for daycare, or just to visit almost everyday.

I paid too much

by Betty C.

I left my dog there for 21 hours and had to pay for two days. Since I was picking them up during their normal busingess hours I found this excessive They also require that you pay for a nasal spray to prevent kennel cough when mine had already had the shot at the vet. Only $5 but double the cost since he had already had it. They are a good place in a pinch but really do way over charge for their services

Response from this business:

Policy Clarification replied on 01/08/09
Let us clarify the written policy for Country Acres Kennels that EVERY customer reads and signs. The kennel has a 2 day minimum boarding requirement. If your pet was boarding at the kennel for less that 48 hours, you will be charged for 2 days anyway unless the dog was at Day Care (12 hours). We also require intra nasal Bordetella every year. The subcutaneous (shot) vaccination is only good for 6 months and takes longer to be effective. The intra nasal vaccine last 1 year. We set our vaccination standards based on veterinarian recommendations and vaccine manufacturers data. The safety of the pets is foremost. We sell the intra nasal Bordetella and teach owners how to do this themselves at cost ($5). We hope this clarifies our policies.

Training, bording, and spa's

by Debra D. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 121

Where do you want to leave a member of your family? This is the place. They take the best care of your families pet and offer other services like doggie spas and more. I highly recommend this place, but they are kind of hard to find. They also offer training.

Doggie Spa

by Aimee H. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 183

They offer training for competitions and regular training. They have a very nice kennel facility if you need to leave your animal. The training is very good and they only use positive training techniques. They also offer extras for your animal like the spa treatments and more.

More than Kennels

by Patrick H. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 483

This place was recommended to me by a family member and I was glad that I checked it out. They have training, boarding, and more. They are competitive with their rates, but I liked the people who worked with the animals. All the employees seemed professionally trained. I have not used the training, just the boarding and was happy with that service.

Great Experience!

by AuraLee G. | insider Insider | Rank: 30,789

We had a great experience w/ Country Acres Kennel last summer. I felt very welcome and not rushed when asking questions. I left my 2 dogs there for about 2 weeks, and upon returning, my 2 dogs looked like they had been pampered and loved. The workers there said goodbye and told me how much they enjoyed them there!
My only complaint is that they dont allow different visiting hours. Some people's work schedule may not allow visits during that time. CAK is very reasonable and cheaper than any vets or kennels that I have been to!

CAK is definately on my list to do again!
Thanks!

PROS: cheap, friendly
CONS: limited visiting hours
