Can't wait until tomorrow!!! My friend, Gloria, and I are going to our favorite tea room for lunch. I have lived in Tomball for 10 years, and the Whistle Stop has been the setting for many memorable occasions for my family and me--baby showers, birthdays, my mom's birthday celebrations, wedding showers, and lots of informal luncheons with friends. My favorite item on the menu is the combo with a chicken salad (yum!) sandwich on fat homemade wheat bread, fruit salad (or you could choose pasta), and that delicious tortilla soup followed by one half (I always split it with a friend because you can't eat a whole one) piece of Italian Creme cake. Cindy is the friendliest, most accommodating owner. I feel like I've known her forever, and her wait staff is as sweet as the desserts they serve. Can't wait!

I was humiliated. I went with my daughter and friend.we got to desert and I ordered a piece of pie.the pie was all whipped cream and no pie filling.the pie was just cut strangely, otherwise it was a nice pie.so I asked the owner could I have different slice because this one was a not good.It was an easy fix,but instead of just serving me another piece of pie she refused ,I told her I would not be back if she didnt correct it,she said she didnt care, and embarresed me in front of my friends.needless to say I never went back. All this over a stupid piece of pie.I'm in buisness and I would never treat a customer so rudley.I would never go back,it's sad because when I like a restraunt I go all the time.

I love the Whistle Stop Tea Room. The people are sweet and attentive. I have brought my grandchildren there many times and it has never been a problem. The staff caters to them also. Never had a problem getting a good table. And the food has always been excellent. I have bought may desserts for family birthdays and Thanksgiving. And they are the biggest hit and most appreciated of the entire meal. Keep up the good work Cindy your doing it all right!

I discovered this tea room two weeks ago and have already been three times! I actually have plans to go back this Friday. It does get pretty crowded, but it's always a nice crowd - mostly ladies. The waitresses are sweet as can be and the lemon cake is insanely good! My only complaint would be that they dont have more vegetarian options, but they do have a veggie sandwich and a pimento cheese sandwich, so it's more than most tea rooms. I wish they served kids drinks in little tea pots like some other tea rooms I have been to, but all in all, i absolutely love this sweet little place.

We all love this little place. Food is good, great tortilla soup and the desserts - well what can be said other than they are wonderfully decadent! I have only had 1 waitess in the 50 plus times I have been there that was not up to par - not bad given the service I have seen in other establishments! Go, eat, drink, eat and be merry! Vickie

Pros: The food and dessert were excellent; pretty good wait service/staff.
Cons: It's not really a tea room, it's more of a lunch spot; sat at a table up against the refrigerator case for desserts, which felt odd; when checking out my sister and I were splitting the check and there was a misunderstanding - the cashier got snappy.

The food/dessert is outstanding and it's a great place to go for lunch. Don't go there if you're looking for a tea room experience.

I have eaten at the Whistle Stop many times with my 85 y/o (wheelchair bound) mom, friends, my hubby, and even on occasion for dessert with my teenage sons. If I had small children I wouldn't take them...it IS a tearoom after all, not McD's.
We've enjoyed everything we've ordered, the service is always good, and the desserts are fabulous. I order cakes from them for special occasions. It wouldn't appeal to big, burly guys who want a steak, some fries and over-sized servings! It is a very nice tearoom though and we will return often :-)
PROS: see above CONS: the bathroom is small and not W/C accessible.

We took my mother to the Whistle Stop today in honor of her 85th birthday. When the hostess showed us to a table and asked if it would be okay we requested another table against the wall. She said no those tables were being saved for larger parties. The owner also said the same thing, and even when I told her it was my mother's birthday she said "Happy Birthday" and left. She never returned. The food was good (although I had to ask to have my soup served), but not good enough for treatment like that. I will never go back.

I was with a friend on a Thursday afternoon and was rudely interrupted by a lady selling jewelry. I didn't go there to buy jewelry but to have a nice quiet lunch with a friend. Otherwise the food was good. Was very disappointed by the interruption.

I love this quaint little restaurant. We like to go here for lunch with my co-workers as well as lunch out "with the girls". I think the guys at work enjoy the portion size and desserts more that I do.

This place is awesome. It is tucked away and I've lived here several years and just found it about 6 months ago. The chicken salad is to die for and the orange pecan dressing is awesome. And as for desserts.... I haven't had one I didn't love. The bonus.... the service. My birthday is tomorrow and with the holiday my husband forgot to order a cake (Mocha Torte). I called today to see if they could still accommodate a late order and even though they require 24 hour notice, they were able to fill our request. I wish we'd found them years ago.

If you plan to go to the Whistle Stop in Tomball, Texas be sure to have at least 3 people in your party. The hostess will refuse to seat you anywhere except near the front door or the bathroom as that is where their tables for two are located. Recently I took my neighbor to lunch at the Whistle Stop and when I told the hostess that I did not want one of those tables, she would not seat us. The owner heard me tell her that we were leaving and intervened. I believe the hostess was only doing what she had been told to do, but the owner was smart enough to see that they were not crowded and she was loosing two customers. Now for the food. We ordered the chicken salad as a salad. The chicken salad was excellent; however, the fruit was almost missing. I literally had four diced pieces of orange and two dices of apple on my lettuce. If you compare this order to the chicken salad sandwich it is skimpy. The chicken salad as a sandwich appears to contain more chicken salad as well as an ample serving of fruit, yet they are essentially the same price. Our waitress ignored us most of the time while she talked and joked with other waitresses. She never refilled our tea glasses and as we finished eating, slapped the bill on the table and left. Since this is a restaurant famous for its homemade desserts, wouldn't you think everyone would be ask if they wanted to order a dessert. I had to get the attention of the owner to ask that she find our waitress so that we could order dessert. I apologized all of the way home to my neighbor. You see it was her first time to go to this tea room; I'm sure that neither of us will go back.

Great place for a lunch! They offer tasty sandwiches, flavored teas, and homemade desserts. They showcase the cakes and pies in the front of the restaurant and you can't help but get a piece (or take some to go). Nice place to eat after a morning of walking through the Main Street shops.

The Whistle Stop is a quaint tea room located in the antique district in Tomball. They do a big lunch business; each time I have gone there, it has been full but not overcrowded. The food is very good, from their huge sandwiches on homemade wheat bread, to their salads and quiches. They have an excellent tortilla soup! Most of all, save room for dessert....there are many to choose from, and each one is better than the next!

It has been awhile since I ate there, but they had the best Chicken Tortilla Soup that I ever ate. I would love to eat there again, and if the good Lord is willing, maybe I will. I am now a 72 year old retiree, so I am not sure that I can, but I can always hope and pray. Thank you Whistle Stop for delightful experiences.

I have eaten at the Whilstle Stop numerous times over the past few years and it is always consistently delicious. I have always been greeted with a smile and seated promptly. My favorite things on the menu are the chicken salad sandwich and the chicken tortilla soup. Although I have tried many things at the restaurant, I can't stop ordering my favorite over and over again. I highly recommend everything on the menu and it is not just for women! This is a perfect spot for a couple to enjoy a delicious lunch while out on a shopping trip. Although all the desserts are absolutely delicious, my very favorite thing is the bread pudding. It is made from scratch and is the best! I always make sure that there is room for this dessert. It wouldn't be a visit to the Whistle Stop without some of this delicious dessert!

This is best place for ladies to have a great lunch in Tomball. It's typical tea room style, and even tho the menu doesn't offer 1,000 selections, what is on the menu is all VERY GOOD. Desserts are especially wonderful. They keep filling your ice tea glass with their wonderful flavored teas, and the chicken tortilla soup is GREAT. Everything is made fresh to order, and sandwiches come on their luscious homemade breads. Lunches are always crowded, so come early. If you don't, you can still browse the nearby antiques/collectibles shops while someone in your party waits for a table. Not a good place if you have more than 8 unless you phone ahead.

This establishment is nestled in the antique shopping district of Tomball, TX! The family-owned cafe/restaurant is full of smiling hometown faces ready to serve and ensure their customers' satisfaction. Start with the passion fruit iced tea and take a look at the menu...it features homemade quiches, sandwiches, salads, and AMAZING soups (the tortilla soup is the best around!) Make sure you save room for dessert though! Featured are an array of fresh cakes, pies, and cobblers baked fresh daily! The bread pudding is to die for!!!
