This week our Friday crew decided on Little Italy, located on 3320 S. Broadway, just north of the music store. The restaurant was not too busy. We had no trouble finding a table for five. Friendly atmosphere and wait staff made a good impression from the start. Little Italy serves quality food at reasonable prices. I had soup first, while my friends ordered salads. We also decided to share a combination platter filled with various appetizers. While we waited, the waitress brought fresh, buttered rolls, still warm from the oven.
The salads were huge and crisp and fresh. Appetizers came dippable, with marinara sauce and the main courses were heavenly. Two of my friends had lasagna and one tried Cannelloni, one some other kind of pasta. I had Chicken Diane, the best dish of the house. Succulent, tender chicken, smothered in mushrooms and artichokes, in a creamy sauce with a touch of tomato and just enough spaghetti to soak up the sauce. We were too stuffed for desserts, but I noticed a sinful triple chocolate cheesecake on the menu.
Little Italy does not serve wine or spirits, but empty wine bottles on the sill suggest that diners bring their own Merlot or Cabernet. I wish I had. It would have provided that special touch to make a perfect meal. I will have to come back and try another tempting specialty soon. I noticed seafood and appealing veal dishes on the menu.
My lunch was the most expensive, but I still got out under ten dollars. I highly recommend Little Italy. Youll get your moneys worth!
