Robstown Independent School District

During the school years of 1997-1998, I worked as a Substitute Teacher at Seale Junior High School. Mr. Eusubio Torres was my supervisor. I found Mr. Torres to be a fine man, an excellent educator and a good friend. The faculty at SJH were extremely kind to me and always ready to assist in any situation. Robstown is a very small community, once a huge center for cotton and oil. The townsfolk are primarily Mexican American and very gentile. The pay was decent. I have a AS degree which put me a notch up on the substitute pay scale. I have read the lone complaint against RISD and find it to be very childish in nature written by a person who is poorly educated and evidently cannot cope with others nor with what public schools of today have to deal with: poor parenting and negative socio-economic factors. Every school has acceptable standards or else they would not be permitted by the state boards of education to continue teaching children. Every school I have ever substituted in have received stellar ratings...

This is a small school district employees are not treated good so most people leave. Others put up with administration because they live near by and it makes it easier to work around. If you notice in the Sunday paper there are a lot of turn around especially in the Math Department. This is a bad environment parents along with administration expect little from students. Later this makes it harder for senior to be at College level. Pay is not good and everyone knows your business. If you are not liked everyone will stay away from you and talk bad about you. People are very unprofessional in this district. Do n ot work for them.
