I actually found big d's review interesting. It makes sense with all the remodeling that the staff gets paid peanuts for what they do. Not only do they do 'customer service', there is a lot of paperwork (if you buy a gun) and other general duties. If they get paid $8 for that? Then the owners need a kick in the pants. The staff in there work exceptionally hard for what amounts to barely nothing. Though my point for this review is simple. I like the Bullet Trap. I like their selection of guns, I like their prices and I like the fact that they are close. A few weeks go I was in there talking to a group of young salesmen (Aaron, Jeremy and another young guy whom name I didn't catch). They all were extremely helpful in telling me what I wanted to know regarding AR-15s as well as 1911's. Though I can also agree with Tim B's review. Dan is the most arrogant person in the store and I too have had the misfortune of being served by him.
My recommendation, look for the guys who DON'T have gray hair.

I have only been there once, but I was treated royally by a fine young salesman named "Red" who took as much time as I wanted to compare several guns. I told him I didn't want to buy a gun right now, but he said it didn't matter...he just wanted me to feel comfortable when the time is right. He was so gracious and helpful that I guarantee when I buy my next firearm, it will be from him. I spent nearly an hour combing through the wonderful selection of pistols, and he was so helpful in showing the advantages of each. Now that I am narrowing down to what I want to buy, I will definitely be back!

the problems that everyone seems to be talking about at the trap trickles down from the top condescending and better than everyone else and the general attitudes of the people they employ is a direct reflection of the owners. they want everything and give very little in return. the guys in the trenches so to speak don't make that much money. and all the remodeling we now know why they don't. and people wonder why the disposition of the little guys behind the new counters is so bad and then on top of all that they deal with some people that have no concept of firearms safety and why they have the rules that they do. so next time you go in with an attitude of discontent think for 8.00 dollars an hr plus 5.00 dollars per gun sale. would you want to put up with someone with an attitude and a possible loaded gun? its a delicate balance and then the crap they deal with from the higher ups. they want a family type oriented crew that works like a well oiled machine. the only thing they got in that respect . a mom and dad that are never at home and the big brother that stabs the younger ones in the back when the parents are not home . then when the mom and dad are home they don't listen to the younger ones. they "mom & dad" just want to bit** about how everything screwed up & out of place. and everyone is trying to screw them .when its they that screwed themselves. sounds like Jerry Springer. only so much paint can cover that pun intended. so be nice to the little guy in the family they only know what "mom and dad" taught them. i hope that sheds a little light on the way the money trap i mean the bullet trap is run.

I've never really been one to write reviews, but after my experience last week I feel like it is necessary. I must also add that it is rather alarming that peoples complaints seem to be centered around one person on the Bullet Trap staff.
I personally love going into the store. They have the best selection around, most competitive prices and for the most part the staff (those below their 40s) are very pleasant.
When I was in there last week I was 'helped' (I put that word loosely) by a supervisor. To be brief, he was rude, condescending and extremely smug. And judging by other peoples comments, it is the same person - Dan.
Though in response to Bill K. I'm sure on that term safety was the key importance, and Dan had every right to jump all over you. Your actions were of someone who has no idea of what SAFETY means. You never know who is going to go rogue and start something. However, his general attitude leaves a lot to be desired.
I hope the owners have their eye on him as I'm sure he is costing the business money. Customer service places like the Bullet Trap don't need people with an attitude, especially one as a supervisor. I like the store, but I will not deal with Dan again. I will go in there on his days off.

I have visited the store on K avenue 3 times each time your staff manly Dan have been rude to me and my fiance. Today I arrived about 4pm with my handgun unloaded and in a case. I placed it on the counter. I opened the case. Removed the magazine and moved and locked the slide so the staff could see it was unloaded. A staff person named Dan jumped all over me. He then reached for my firearm I placed it in the case and told him he had been rude to me the times I had been in there. I returned a few minutes later and asked for the number for matt and tracy hall. Very poor customer service. They should be embarrassed. This firm will never get any more of my business. Never.

What do I think about Bullet Trap. A lot but a little at the same time.
I was in there today as they had a sale going on, and thought I might be able to pick up some good bargains. I was looking around and was helped by a few younger guys. I said I'd think about a purchase and continued to walk around the store. I went back to purchase a gun and one of the supervisors called Dan came to serve me. What an arrogant supervisor/manager he is! Talk about being condescending. I've actually done some competitions before, but he didn't seem to care one bit. He talked to me like I was a kid. I also heard him snapping at some other employees for no reason.
I didn't buy a gun in there today as I was discouraged by his attitude. I may go in another day and deal with someone else. Someone who will speak to me on an adult level, and actually cares about the customer.
If you go into the store, see anyone else but Dan.
Other than that, the store has some really good prices and a good range of guns to suit all budgets.

I always find it amusing to read customer service reviews. From experience, it's always the people who have a real bad attitude from the start, who writes them, complaining about everything. What's that saying? Every story has two sides.
I've been in Bullet Trap many times and I've heard customers walk in and say (with an attitude) "I want a gun". No wonder the staff get a bit testy with someone saying that. Do you know how many different types of guns there are, for what purpose etc? I suggest that people do what I do before I go into a store. Do a bit of the footwork yourself and go online to websites and forums, instead of expecting these guys to hold your hand.
I've even seen people walk in, and within 30 seconds of walking through the door, snap their fingers in the air and say "I want service". I know I wouldn't put up with that if I was in the staff's shoes. And I'm sure now, after the 'Obamana-nation', everyone and his dog is going to be in there wanting to get something before it's gone. To me, if you are courteous to an employee (at any store) 9/10 they are courteous back.
Bullet Trap is probably the best gun store around in this area. They have a great selection of guns and accessories, and their prices are on average $80-$100 cheaper than other gun stores in the Dallas area.
Though on the down side, I think the new remodeling of the facility went overboard. Sure, everyone likes a clean restroom, but the marbleized walls and new wood flooring is somewhat ridiculous for a gun store. Instead of the staff selling guns, they'll only have to spend that time mopping the floors. I'm sure that $$ came out of giving the staff a raise.
Like I said earlier, every side has two stories. So if you're one of the ones who are grumbling about the staff or prices, chances are you had a bad attitude to begin with. As for my own service in there, the younger guys in particular have been very helpful and provided me with good sound advice.

This is the best damn gun store in North Texas. I have always been helped even at the height of Obamamania. I noticed how no one on this forum advised an alternative store to use because this is the most friendly, knowledgable staff out there. Make up your own mind and do not let the sour grapes take away a golden resourse for your shooting hobby.

It's actually sad how far this place has gone downhill with the eighteen to twenty year old punks running the place. I really mean that. They are very lazy and cocky. It's almost funny watching them try and degrade ex military or law enforcement like myself. One of them, Aaron(the gun MANAGER......) couldn't be over twenty one, even smugly smirked and insulted my Dad while simply trying to buy a gun. We have been members over twenty years but both of us quit going now and go the outdoor range in Garland. The people there are actually grown ups, not gun toting children.

Well, it happened to me. I have always been a fan of the Bullet Trap. Convenient, Good stock, available ammo, etc. While the customer service of the staff....and there are plenty of them (looks a bit like the TSA at the airport), is questionable at times, I have eventually always got what I went there for albeit overpriced. Recent experience has sent me in other directions. Brought 2 shotguns in for some basic cleaning. Normally, I do this myself, but have been extremely busy and was ok with shelling out the $$$. Anyway, took them in on a Monday morning, service was good, they took down the information, etc....and said it would be a couple of days...we'll call.Ok..I figure Saturday or so would give them a couple of days and some cushion. No call, then I am out of town.Go in today (Wed), week and a half later, and ask if the guns are ready. The guys goes to the back, brings them out and says here ya go. Fortunately, I checked them. Yep, you guessed it. Nothing, nada a darn thing had been done...they were still as dirty as ever...so I pointed it out and asked when would they be ready...after getting the Manager, they told me, and I quote "It is a busy time in our industry right now and it would be impossible for me to give you a time frame? Huh? 2 shotguns?Oh, by the way, there were at least 5 guys standing around, doing very little as it was the middle of the day in the frickin middle of the week. And to top it off, I was prepared to buy 2 handguns....after this. No way, no how.My business is going somewhere else.

I was in the store a little while back and had to beg at the counter to get anyones attention. I asked to see one of the guns that they had for sell and was immediately asked are you going to buy it. I have to tell you guys that is not good customer service. You really have a habit of pissing your perspective customers off! One of your employees I believe Aaron has one of the largest attitudes of all. Not only did I observe him giving a fellow employee a difficult time in front of customers he continued to be rude when he addressed me. I am very disappointed in the attitude of the staff, let us bear in mind that you are the gun professionals and not all of your customers are. You should treat everyone the same a little respect please. In the event you allow an overly inflated ego of your staff to be presented to customers and I personally observe it I will not only post here but will post in the Dallas morning news and other review boards until you get the point. Come on Dave you are the manager of the business! Step Up and set a good example for the other employees. Your customer base is changing and like it or not you will have every walk of life (every race, every orientation etc) coming into your business to shoot their guns and buy your products. Isn't it great that the face of your world is changing and that now as stated above every race and every orientation is interested in new opportunities to learn and engage with others? Additionally some of us have an opinion and are not afraid to tell the world via message boards, news paper etc. Ball is in your court, please engage.
Kind Regards,
Youre Perspective Customers

Against my better judgement, I journeyed over to Plano looking for some reloading supplies (powder, primers, etc). I found a disappointingly small selection of products, but for retail prices that in some instances exceeded wholesale cost by over 100%!
Was going to inquire as to what the range fees were these days, but . . . as was the case several years ago when the wife and I wandered in, if you're not a "regular," then you practically have to throw bills of large denomination at the salesmen to get them to give you a minute of their time.
Typical gun-store commandos--too busy swapping questionable "facts" and "stories" with the "regulars" to be bothered with non-Plano folks.
Picture perfect example of why online e-tailers are booming and brick & mortar retailers are busting. Even with shipping fees and hazmat, you'll come out better shopping with almost any online components supplier. For sure you'll get treated better.

What are riffles maybe if the guys are bullet trap knew what you were talking about they could have been helpful. I have been there a decent amount of times and as of late that store is a little overwhelmed. Hell, I was standing there one Saturday, waiting patiently to be helped and there were so many people in the store that when the employee turned around a man who had just walked in started yapping at the tall blond headed guy behind the counter. He looked at both of us and said I think he was here first and asked me how he could help and the other guy who had just walked up got all flustered, the employee calmly told the guy that there are a lot of people in the store and he would have someone help him ASAP. I have overheard some of the outlandish questions that those guys get asked and it would drive me up the wall. My point is why would someone ignore you, how are they supposed to know when they have so many people in the store who is next to be waited on. I kinda feel like everyone should take it upon them selves to do a little research about the gun they are going to buy and not rely on someone else to hold there hand every step of the way. I like the Bullet Trap a lot and I have never been in a gun store of any type where the employees were as knowledgeable and as polite.

Have used the range facilities several times but always left feeling like I was an outsider. I bought a gun (I am sorry) yesterday and got NO introduction to it's features. Be careful to get agreements in writing - no handshakes recognized.

I have been there to shoot on a couple diffrent occasions and found that to be a little high, however I was in there yesterday to buy a gun and had the hardest time to get anyone to speak with me other than having walk down to where the pistols were ask a question and then go back to the riffles. ( which I end up buying yesterday from the shooting shop)

I have always had the greatest degree of difficulty in even getting someone to speak to me in this store. It is as if you are not one of the "regulars", then you do not exist. The only redeeming quality that I can see is the indoor range...but I would just as soon get rained on at an outdoor facility.

I have called your business number and never could talk to a person or connect to the CHL renewal. There is nothing on this web page related to that. How do I schedule a CHL renewal class?

I experienced the bullet trap for the first time about 6 months ago. It was a great place to go shoot with decent ventalation. I must admit though the prices on the ammo for the rental guns was a little steep and the overall range fees were high as well. Overall though I had a good time and only spent thirty five dollars in the process. Note: They do have a great selection of rental guns including the H&K series.

My husband has always enjoyed shooting even though he doesn't enjoy hunting. We found this trap shooting range and it's the perfect way for him to do what he enjoys in a safe environment.
