I worked at cattle dental in the Hancock center in Austin Texas for a while. There is a lot of shady things happening there behind the patients backs. They are being charged for things but done like desensitization for filings and crowns. They never use the desensitization but they charge you for it. The office charges you for extra lab fees when the lab does not charge them. When the Dr says you need a filling the office makes him crown. They make the hygienist do deep cleanings on almost every one out they get in trouble. Three lead hygienist over all of them pushes probes too far down to make it look like u needed a deep cleaning. Castle also does not provide the proper things it takes to clean everything well so this place is dirty. Records are kept out for other patients to read. Dint trust them for real don't. I still work here and I would not let them work on my animals.

I've been taking my daughter over the past few years and service has been good and front desk is helpful, professional; we had a very successful outcome with the orthodontics. We also had to have the dentist extract a tooth (well done) and the periodontist perform a frenectomy (she was very good working with a young teen patient). Recommend this place.

Honestly, I have been to this office three times and I'm ready to change, more likely to a private practice. The only reason is that castle dental moves doctors and staff very often. So, more likely a dr will start your treatment and another one will finish it. Everytime I go they want to remove my wisdom tooth, but why? They do not bother me at all. I had a bridge put on like ten years ago in Mexico and everytime I go to castle dental the dentists say that I need too. Replace it? Why? It's not falling off os loosen.... I was also recommended to get braces,, which Im following their advice BUt I'm going to another office bc it is q hassle to have a different doctor every Single visit...

What a joke this place is! Please SHUT THEM DOWN!! I went here because Guardian guided me to them because they are 1.5 miles from my house. Being new to Austin I did not know the reputation of Castle, which is NOT good. It was like a wind storm. I got in and they routed me through all the different rooms, took a ton of x-rays and sent me off to see 2 hygentist where they said I needed a deep cleaning. Seems like the deep cleanings are pretty popular with this group considering it is $575 out of my pocket after insurance, they are commision after all so any extra/un-needed procedure they will encourage you to have done.
After this whirl wind of a tour I went back because an old filling had broken and due to the $30 extra fee they charge for obtaining your x-rays and the new exam fee from my insurance I had to use Castle, against my better judgement. They were actually pretty nice and gentle at first. It took an hour longer then I was told and within 3 days of the temp cap being put on, IT FELL OFF!! When I called to get back in to have it fixed they laughed! Are you kidding! This is their fault and they act like I did something wrong! WTH is the problem with these people! NEVER AGAIN! NEVER AGAIN!!

i went to castle to get treatment for an erupting wisdom tooth that had become infected. the assistant was very rough while giving the x-ray making me gag! the dentist called out tons of problems, and told me i had almost as many cavities as i have teeth in my mouth. the reason she said was because i needed a cleaning. at the end of the appointment they gave me a laundry list about two pages of things i needed done totaling almost 5 thousand dollars. they referred me to a oral surgeon and wrote me a prescription for antibiotics and vicodin. the oral surgon recommended pulling 4 teeth.

so i got a second opinion. i went to avalon dental group a private practice in sugarland. they gave me a cleaning x rays and second opinion for way less than castle. their facilities were much nicer and they were happy to help. the doctor told me that while it is important for me to pull my wisdom teeth before i turn 25 my priority should be saving the teeth i want to keep. i only have four cavities and he was able to show them to me on my x ray. beware of dentists on commissions.

Dr. S. Kim is the BEST!! I have seen her for more than 18 years. She is a very professional, and very caring dentist. The dental office is clean. The staffs there are very professional and personable. They explained the procedure thoroughly and the cost before starting the work. I highly recommend Dr. Kim and Castle Dental Westgate.

Castle Dental is noooo good. STAY AWAY!!!!!
They charge you $10.00 just to walk in the door. They say all offices do this. They are very wrong.
They also said my daughter had 3 cavities. She has none. They don't want you to read the form they ask you to sign, because if you did then you would see it says you give them permission to do what ever treatment they feel you need. What a crock. They are terrible and just out for your money.

I have been working at castle for many years, I am sad to see all of the negative comments written. If castle was unethical in anyway..I would not work here. Yes,sometimes you may have to wait a little while..we sometimes have emergencies, wouldn't you want to slip in if you had a toothache? Also, we get very busy for the fact that we take many plans that other offices will not touch!! We can't always do"same day cleaning"..we have to diagnose first! For those who want a "regular cleaning"...if you have gum disease and we did a regular cleaning..that would be unethical! Many people who walk throught the door are unaware of gum disease and have been getting regular ones..very sad. Some of our equipment may look old, but it works...when you take plans that pay very little to us, it can be difficult to purchase these very expensive items. Our employees have all gone to the same schools as the ones in private practice...I am very picky about my dental work and I get it all done at Castle! I assure anyone reading the negative comments to disregard most of them.... we have soooo many wonderful people who have been coming to us for MANY years and are happy with our service. Sometimes people do not communicate with us, the ones who can..we will bend over backwards to help. Best wishes to everyone who gave good or bad reviews and keep flossing!! :) By the way,we do get alot of praise..just wish they would let everyone know.

In 2010 I gave the Cedar Park office a great review. In 2012 I left that office and vowed to never go back! To start they have some big raspy masculine women who claims she? is the manager. I asked some questions about my insurance and she was very curt and rude. Informing me what a favor she was doing for me just by accepting my insurance. But the icing on the cake total decline of the cleaning department. It seems they got rid of anyone there, or maybe they quit, that really cares. Their cattle call, herd them in herd them out is in full swing at Castle Cedar Park. That new hygienist was working out of two rooms, she didn't spend but 10-15 min cleaning my teeth.I left with rough spots all over my teeth, and she didn't take the stain off either. I could have done a better job at home! Worse cleaning job ever and rude staff. I will never go back!

HORRIBLE!! DON'T WASTE YOUR $$ OR TEETH THERE! I stupidly went for braces and had 4 extra teeth pulled that were not in the way. Every month I had a different doctor(so different procedure manner) and my teeth got nowhere fast. They lost my records of 2 years which was how long my braces were to be on. Too bad it turned out to be 4 years. The last ortho. shaved a side tooth as my teeth wouldn't close a small gap. Needless to say, a dentist had to fill it only for it to come out later that night. In order to repair it, would have been $200.00! My teeth now are worst than before. I wish I had never even touched them or gone elsewhere. I also wish I had known about the lawsuit. EVEN IF YOU'RE BROKE AND WANT MONTHLY PAYMENTS, WAIT! I wasted $8,000.00 FOR NOTHING but bad treatment and even worse teeth! This place is like an assembly line. UNPROFESSIONAL! DON'T GO YOU WILL REGRET IT! TOO BAD I COULDN'T RATE IT AT ZERO!

Castle on S. Lamar. It was the worst!!! Dr. King installed a crown for me three years ago and it hasn't ever been in my mouth for even a year. I've had it replaced four times in three years. That's not counting the times I've had to go back because he's either chipped it while installing it (2x) or got the size wrong. I'd give this place a zero star rating if possible. I need to go back but I refuse to see King again. Don't know yet how much they're going to stick me with for seeing another "Dentist"? Do not go to this place!!! Tried to get in touch with "customer service" and never heard back regarding trying to go a different Castle Dental.
+++follow up++++
After going back and requesting a different Dr., they happily obliged, and because I didn't have insurance they didn't charge me to see the second Dr. I wish I could remember his name. Oriental, young guy. I think it was Dr. Nuywen or something like that. He did a much, much better job. He fixed all the original mistakes and installed a much stronger crown. It's only been two months now, so we'll see how long it last. But I'd go back, just not to Dr. King.

Did a guy SERIOUSLY just complain he had to wait 10 minutes? Are you freaking kidding me? I wait 45 minutes to an hour at doctor's offices and at least 20 minutes at dentists. This happens to everyone everywhere. 10 minutes?? REALLY!?! 10 MINUTES! well jesus that place has no clue what they're doing (in best redneck accent)

My son went for a simple cleaning. He is TBI Tramatic Brain Injury. He is learning independant living skills. I explained my son was disabled and I asked the clerk up front did I need to be present. She said no, its just a cleaning. He was directed by me to ride the bus to the dentist office which is next to the Goodwill Program he was a part of and to ride the bus home. When he arrived home he reported his mouth was very sore...come to find out that they had my son sign a for loan that added up to over $1200.00 dollars of dental work through a loan program they have. I still get collection letters and calls even though they said they would handle this. Still get calls and letters. This place is unethical and immoral. Who would do that to a disabled person?

I will still add more disappointing comments about castle dental located in S. Lamar. Very unprofessional people, starting from the dentist, x-ray tech, schedulers, and orthodontist. Dentist looks like he's lost in the twilight zone, x-ray tech is always making wise-ass comments and is very rude, plus office staff are inexperience dental students. they do not provide individual attention, always trying to attend to as many people at the same time, they forget whay your in for, even though they just attended you 10 minutes ago. Save yourself agrevation and disappointment and needless to say unnnecessary expenses.

I was seen at the 500 Canyon Dr. Austin. In my opinion this store has very poor patient care and service. I then changed to a new dentist and they just keep delaying sending my records to the new office. Had to call multiple times and talk to their manager to finally get them. Very unsatisfactory service.

Castle Dental Disaster
Westgate Blvd. Austin
NEVER go to Castle Dental
I took my niece there for a routine cleaning and checkup.
She had not been in a long time. The hygienist told me she would have to have deep scaling done. The dentist found cavities. (The x ray showed small dot on the enamel, deeper decay in the tooth.) I agreed to have it filled right then. We were also told she would need two , possibly three root canals, crowns and a cap. They did not have nitrous at this location. The dentist numbed her mouth and proceeded to visit another patient, who was very unhappy with her care, and not being quiet about it.
He was gone longer than I thought he should be, but proceeded to fill the tooth. My niece felt a lot of pain and began to cry. He put in a temporary filling, saying she needed a root canal in this tooth as well, ( told us it is not always easy to tell on the x ray) and referred us to an endodontist.
The estimated bill for all the work to be done at Castle was over 4000.00.
The office was not very clean, baseboards missing, trash on the floor next to the wastebasket. Front desk personnel were unfriendly and they had her name wrong on her chart. I corrected the chart and they still had it wrong at check out and could not find her file...lost within 1 hour !
the hygienist wanted to do the deep cleaning the same day!
I got two second opinions. Both disagreed with the planing and scaling suggested by Castle. To date my niece has had all cavities filled, cleaning, sealants, and preventative care NO root canals, caps or deep cleaning and NO specialist.
She received wonderful care at Buda Dental. Dr. Strickland and the entire staff are fantastic.
PLEASE.... NEVER NEVER GIVE CASTLE YOUR BUSINESS! THEY SHOULD BE OUT OF BUSINESS
at least at this location
My sister in law recently made an appointment there. When I found out, I told them the above story, asked them to read the reviews and the appointment was canceled.
These reviews can make a difference one person at a time.
Castle is a racket!

I went to the .Castle Dental Center in Cedar Park because I needed a tooth removed. I was told I would not need pain medication after the tooth was pulled. I am now in extreme pain. After calling the facility they told me to take tylenol. I would advice anyone with any dental problems to see ANYONE other than Castle Dental !

Went in for check up and cleaning. Had teeth cleaned five months ago and had no problems. Only have two fillings that I received at age 9. Before I left they told me I needed deep cleaning and four fillings. Are you kidding??? All of this for the low cost of $900 with insurance. Called insurance about a second opinion and she laughed that I had gone to Castle and told me they would pay for second opinion. Kinda like getting your oil changed and they find 10 things wrong with your car. BEWARE!!!!!!!!

I had a great experience @ the newest location in Kyle! I read all the other comments! I really feel like some people are in denial of the way the their mouths are! (GUMS) Periodontal disease is more common than anyone realizes...Just because you actually brush your teeth daily doesnt mean your teeth are perfectly healthy...Thank God there is a dentist who actually cares about your comfort and listens to your complaints and concerns! Finally there is a dental ofc that actually checks for gum pocketing and makes sure I can continue to care for my problem, my other dentist didnt catch the last 5yrs I went to see him at Longhorn now called something else!! Dental care IS EXPENSIVE...BUT...so are dentures, heart attacks, and organ replacements..gosh even a visit to an after hours visit to the urgent clinics! Nothing is for free!...INS doesnt cover everything 100%...Thank You Castle Dental frm my family...My PCP thanks you too!!

The Castle Dental I'm stuck with, as Guardian is my ins.provider, is constantly trying to get me to have unnecessary surgery to make the hygienist's job easier.
The day before my last appt. I got a call from Castle saying the ins. co. claims I am not registered with this Castle, which I have been since 2008. Castle promised to get the issue resloved and would call me back. No call, even a week later.
I called my ins.co. who told me a Priscilla did call the day before my last appt. and was given the green light to see me.
I than called Castle, asked for Priscilla who , not knowing I'd already called my ins.co., pretended not to know anything about it. She put me on hold to get my file, but when she came back she was defensive and treated me as if I'd done something wrong and was inconveniencing her. She kept saying they have no control over patients changing Castle locations, even though I'd never mentioned having changed anything. I asked why hadn't anyone faxed proof to my ins. as to my registry there and my ins. co. has been billed by them since 2008. Again she told me it's my job to handle the ins.co., and she's report all this to Patty the office manager.
I told her I'd be calling the ins. co., even though I already had, because now I'm getting upset and want to get to the bottom of this. I just wanted to see how this would be handled by Castle and this Priscilla. I waited two minutes and called Castle back. This time Priscilla didn't answer. I was put on hold for 15 minutes before a Patty came on asking how can I help you? I stated my name and said I'd been holding for Priscilla, and then I was promptly disconnected. I waited half an hour, called back to speak with Priscilla who decided she'd been caught. She was apologetic but blamed the issue on a too busy office and actually insinuated that all doctors offices make this sort of mistake all the time. I suggested she start making notes so as not to make people feel unimportant and dismissed. I asked her to fill Patty in on this and please have her call me back. Priscilla tried to put me on hold again but I refused as I'd already spent all the time on this as I could for one morning. It ahs been two days now..no call from Patty the office manager. I intend to begin writing letters to the proper entities to bring this poor management to light.I also blame
Guardian, as I know they must be aware of all the problems Castle has caused folks over the years.

I went for a routine cleaning and x-rays. Since I have been attending a dentist routinely (every six months) I did not expect any problems. Boy was I wrong. The hygienist recommended a deep cleaning, plus gum shots to make my gums healthy (none of my other dentist had ever mentioned this) to the cost of $700. After that it was suggested that I re-cap a couple of teeth costing me an additional $2000!!! I was quoted a total cost of $2,700. CASTLE DENTAL IS THE WORST DENTIST FACILITY I HAVE EVER BEEN TO IN MY LIFE. STAY AWAY. THEY ONLY WANT YOUR MONEY!!!!

I have been reading reviews from Tx. about how bad Castle Dental is. They are bad here in Chattannoga, Tn., too. My dental problems started 2 yrs. ago, w/a loose bridge. I went to Castle (1.) my ins. coverage,(2.) they used to be Mid-South, who did the original bridge in 2000. I borrowed $3000 from my 401k for a new bridge(only 3 teeth), it would last 5-6 wks., then, fall out. The longest it lasted was 5 mths., after which, I had 6 root tips taken out by an oral surgeon ($1300), and had 6 teeth added on a new bridge. A cost of $825. I paid $335.26, w/ a balance of $503.00. My ins. co. refused to pay for my partial, because Castle did not report that they replaced 6 teeth. My ins. co. told me to have them resubmit the claim with the new info. Evidently, they didn't bother to, because yesterday, I recieved a bill from Castle Dental for $503.00. I will now have to call Gaurdian AGAIN, to see why it wasn't paid. I forgot to mention...the oral surgeon place the partial in my mouth after he pulled the root tips out (12-10-09). On 1-10-10, I thought I felt the tooth loose. I thought surely no, I'm getting paranoid. But, YES, on Monday, #7 tooth came OFF of my partial. The Eastgate Castle sent me to the Hixson office, and they glued it back on-and you can tell that it's been repaired. Today is 2-07-10, who knows how long it's going to last. I do know that I will be looking for a new dentist. The $3000 was just thrown down the drain-I think they just need to accept the $335.00 that I've already paid (still paying back the $3000)and be done w/it. I will probably end up having to pay the $503.00, to keep my good credit rating. If I didn't mind airing my problems in public, I'd go on the Judge Judy show to get my $3000 back. Also, a co-worker went to Castle this summer for a bottom crown, and it came off a couple mths. later. While I was waiting at the Hixson offfice, a man came in..his crown had came off as well. So, I agree with others-Castle needs to be shut down.

Castle Dental at Stassney (5510 S. IH-35, Bldg E, Ste 300. Austin) has the worst customer services I ever seen!

Round 1, November 5, 2009: I waited for 35 minutes to be seen. I wrote my name on their sign in sheet as soon as I came into the dental office. After standing at the counter for about 5 minutes without anyone even making eye contact, I asked if I should just have a seat and wait for someone to call me and the girl said yes (I knew I had to fill out registration papers since this was my fist visit). After waiting for about 20 minutes I walked to the counter again and one of the girls told me she was wondering who I was (she never asked me) and didn't check me in for the appointment? I guess they didn??t look at their own sign-in sheet. I was finally called in after another 10 to 15 minutes.

Round 2, February 1, 2010: Similar story, but worst. I had an appointment at 11am and after one hour, walked out of the office without being seen. I signed in and a guy seating behind the desk (one of 4 seating there) told me to seat down and the other girl would check me in as soon as she became available (she was on the phone). Twenty minutes later I went to the counter again. The girl was still busy so I told the guy I wanted to make sure I was checked in since I had been waiting for a while; he said the other girl was doing that for me. After waiting for a total of 45 minutes, I walk to the counter, and stood there waiting for the girl to finish discussing treatment and payment with another patient (HIPPA violation?!) while the other 3 people behind the counter totally ignored me. When I finally caught her attention, she told me that no one pulled my chart, she walk to the back with my chart and came back to tell me they had someone else scheduled at noon who had confirmed the appointment and I could wait to see if this person didn??t show or I could reschedule. I asked for copies of my records and walked out.
By the way, they took another 15 minutes to give me copies of my medical records.

This office cost me time and money. I drove straight to another dental office and set up another appointment, but will have to pay for another dental exam. ??Thank you? Castle Dental!

Can't decide if it's fraud or just gouging. But I go in for a simple cleaning and they stiff me for a deep clean or a perio-maintenance cleaning costing more that $100 above what they charge the insurance company. Never had a problem with my previous dentist and will likely go back to him because even paying cash it will be less expensive than these con-artists. I will file a formal complaint with the state dental board on this outfit and maybe if enough of us do so we can close them down for good.

Recently my husband and I went into Castle Dental at Barton Springs Mall for the same problem ?? missing fillings that needed to be redone.

When all was said and done, I got the strong impression that Castle Dental Centers is more intent on raking in money than helping people.

First we were required to fill in a very invasive form asking for both driver??s license # and SS # (which they did not get from me). Then we were quickly herded into a system of mandatory testing-- x-rays, gum tests etc. After this testing by the dentist and hygienist??we were given an estimate on the all the work it would take to get our mouths healthy --- mine was somewhere around $7,000 my husband's a bit less because of his insurance / discount program.

After the ??exam? the hygienist told me she could help with gum inflammation with doses of an antibiotic-- at the tune of $ 40 per spot (3 spots per tooth if I understood it right). I could hear their cash register ka-chinging! She offered a lesser price since I was not insured-- (isn??t this called insurance fraud?). They strongly suggested a ??DEEP CLEANING? which was figured by mouth sector ?? so at $60 per sector X4??it really added up. They told my husband exactly the same thing.

So we're standing there with our mega estimates, our teeth have not even been cleaned, and we're out $150 for the both of us and no better off and I ask could someone please just fill our teeth. At that point, the receptionist (who was at least civil) said "Oh they all went to lunch".

We left??still with unfilled holes in our teeth wondering if we should mortgage the house to pay for all the procedures they were recommending. The more I thought about it, the more I suspected the office is simply a money-making scheme. They test you and recommend all kinds of procedures that make them money. I also suspect they don??t care if you really need the procedures or not.

I must say the blatantly avaricious attitude pervading the place is most disconcerting. At first I thought maybe I was being too critical ?? and not having had a great deal of dental work done in recent years perhaps a bit nave about the costs.

However, after reading the other reviews, it all begins to make sense. These people are clearly out to make money and not necessarily to heal or help people.

I believe we will go elsewhere-- even if we have to pay again.

I recently took my daughters to Castle Dental for a routine cleaning......Upon arrival and check-in the receptionist had a pile of paperwork for me to fiil out.....I asked her if that was necessary, since we had just been there 6 months prior....She insisted that they had never been there.....She was very unprofessional and rude.....When I glanced down at the sheet that she had for patients, I noticed that the problem was they had mispelled my childrens last name.......There was no apology......Dental Hygeinist was nice......Children never saw a dentist.
When I asked about getting the cavities taken care of for my 7 yr old, I was told that the dentist said they could put filings and she no longer needed caps, like was recommended months previous. I scheduled the appointment and asked if she could get gas for the procedure......They told me it would cost an extra $55 per half hour for the gas....my insurance would not cover it......I told the front desk clerk that my other daughter had it in a previous procedure....and I am sure it is covered. She inconveniently checked for me...and said" Oh, they do cover it." I then requested for it to be available for my daughter at her upcoming appointment.

A few days later when we returned to the dental office, guess what? There was no gas ready for her, nor even listed in her chart as a request......Once again we were made to feel as if we were an inconvenience...The Dental Assistant went to find the tanks for the gas and attempted to put it together. Neither she nor the DENTIST seemed to know how to adequately use the equipment.....So, they asked another assistant to help them out......After placing iton my daughters face the Dr. made the comment, "I sure hope that this on right, I don't want it to leak and make me drunk too". He did not allow the gas to work properly and applied the numbing gel to my daughters gums.....My daughter was very aprehensive and needed the proper care in which Dentist should be trained to give.

The Dentist did not allow gel to set long enough and injected her gums with a shot....She felt it all and reacted. She grabbed his hand and the needle bent in her gums....he continued to give her the shot....

She was so upset and was so scared at this point.....When the dentist started to drill to prepare the teeth for a filling, my daughter said she could still feel her tooth......So the Dentist used a sharp instrument to test the gums to see if she could truly feel it.....Then he took her hand and poked her on the top of the hand without warning, putting her in tears. He explained to her that he poked her gum with the same instrument and she did not feel it.......
This is abuse. How cruel.....
A few minutes later the "dental office manager" came in and said that they were going to refer her out to a pediatric dentist..........HORRIBLE DENTIST OFFICE........1431 Cedar Park,

I went in for a routine cleaning. Since there are Castle Dentals all over the place I figured why not. I first had to have a dental assessment. While the doctor was friendly, I felt like I was being pushed into scheduling an appointment for a long list of treatments that were not really explained to me.

The doctor first suggested I get braces because due to my wisdom teeth coming in, i have a slight shift in one of my lower teeth. Hardly noticable, no pain or discomfort and no interest in braces. I told the doctor no thanks and his repsonse was that if it was his mouth her would want it to be perfect. He then said that he suggests I get a deep gum cleaning and antibiotic shots in my gums to reverse any gum issues. The doctor also told me that since i am 27 and getting older, he suggests I get a deep gum cleaning 3 times a year and mentioned that although the 3rd visit comes out of pocket it is worth it to catch teeth issues early. He left with telling me that everything would be ok and he could reverse any damage that had happened over the past 2 years that I havent been to a dentist.

I then got a very long list of the treatment they had planned for me. Basically the teeth cleaning I was needing was going to cost $1300, with insurance my portion was about $700. I was pretty confused because i have a great dental plan. Turns out the doctor suggested I get 14 antibiotic shot that insurance does not cover along with my deep gum cleaning. I am still not even sure what the antibiotic shots are for? I was a pretty skeptical as to the whole treatment plan so I told them I would think about it and call back to schedule my appointments. I decided that day that to get a second opinion. I called the office, requested my dental records and xrays and moved on. Castle Dental is just out for your insurance money. They pressure into unneeded treatment and scare you into believing you have gum disease and to save your teeth you have you follow their treatment plan. Save your money and go elsewhere.

I went in for a regular check up and cleaning. During my cleaning the hygienist rated my teeth saying I would need deep cleaning and the doctor double checked saying the hygienist made it seem worse than it actually was. Then I get a bill from my exam=over $100. I was livid, I was never notified of a procedure not covered by my insurance, I called my insurance and called the dentist office and of course the dentist blames the insurance Co. that they cover what they want when they want. The insurance Co. backs me up and says it is clear what is covered and they mail an EOB directly to the dentist and to me as well. The dentist was supposed to look it over and file an adjustment claim. After receiving another bill from the dentist, I call and they claim they never received the letter from my insurance, nothing in my file or even that I had spoken to them regarding this issue (I had been fighting for months now). I also tried to obtain from my file & destroy the statement saying I would be responsible for any charges not covered by my insurance realizing this benefited them way too much. They denied they could do that and I said I would be going elsewhere because they kept saying this isn't there fault since corporate gets the EOBs from the insurance Co, etc. Then this lady (billing?) was extremely rude telling me I don't understand how insurance Co.s work and I explained I have talked to the insurance Co and know very well you should know what is and isn't covered. They also tried to tell me to avoid this next time they would have to file pre auth that is a 4-5 wk process. Ridiculous b/c you can't get it right you make your customers suffer. I am still fighting this-would love to file a complaint. I have no intention of going back and would not recommend them as they try to blame their wrongs on being "corporate". Cleanings: They say they are booked out for months and the front desk refused to have a waiting/call list and thankfully with Dr.s order the hygienist promptly called me directly and did the job better than the folks that should be doing that! I did say I would have to go elsewhere since the said they wouldn't even get me in for my twice a yr cleanings. The hygienist told me the office manager was only interested in making money and customer service is not a concern. OBVIOUSLY-they do not deserve business!

The Castle Dental in Hancock Center is all about making money. I was told that I need four crowns (over 4 years ago) and it was going to be $800 each. I had a bad feeling and never got the work done. Since then, I've seen two different dentists and nobody ever mentioned needing crowns.

I went in for a cleaning and x-ray. First time there and when the dentist check my teeth he says to me that i have no cavities. I follow by saying great and he says to me, "Not for me." Then the hygienist comes in to do the count thing (2,2,3,4,2 etc) and tells me that i will need a special kind of cleaning and i will find out from the front desk in a few minutes how much it will cost. My dental insurance pays for 2 cleanings and 1 x-ray a year so at that point i question the front desk. The receptionist tells me that my "special cleaning" will cost $272.00. When I ask them, "so you are not going to clean my teeth?" Their response was, "not until after you do this." The guy behind the counter tells me that "...it would be like waxing a dirty car" and if I can't pay for it now that there are financing options available. I realized at that moment that i just saw a dentist who works on commission. I refused the service, paid $5.00 for the x-rays and will be filing a complaint with my insurance company and the better business bureau.
NEVER GO THERE! Honestly, they should get their dentist licenses taken away.

I will never go to another Castle Dental Center. My experience was horrible. I went to visit the location in the Hancock shopping center on 41st street. First of all, the staff did not demonstrate professionalism at all. Second, there was lack of privacy. I could hear the dentist tell everyone what was wrong with their teeth before coming in to talk to me about mine. Third, my "treatment plan" was discussed in the waiting room in front of other patients. I felt that this was a very disappointing visit. I was so uncomfortable, and all I wanted to do was leave the office.

I went to the Castle Dental in Round Rock - East Palm Valley. I went in for consultation on repairing some teeth.
First visit was a cleaning, 5$ - GREAT. Second visit was a deep cleaning and referral to a specialist - $300 - Not great. My Insurance did not cover a specialist - so on 3rd visit I get attitude: quote "sometimes it isnt all about money, sir". I was livid - I live in a 400K home and some meat head from a dental chop shop is talking to me like that ? If your going in to get a cleaning, watch your wallet - that's the only thing they do a good job of cleaning.

I don't know where to start. My wife went in to save a root canal that didn't have a crown, and they said they could save the tooth. One month later The tooth is bad and she need an implant with a bone graft. I had a bad feeling about this after my two crowns from Castle Dental still hurt after two months so I told my wife to get a second opinion. The second opinion said he was not surprised and that he hears this often from Castle Dental x customers. The new periodontist said there is no way to tell if a bone graft is needed until the tooth is pulled and that his price is a fraction of the amount Castle proposed. I could go on with more scary details but just please don't go to Castle Dental in Cedar Park.

I visited the South Lamar (Corners) Castle Dental Center this morning with a dental emergency for my five year old son. He'd had a toothache for a few days that had gotten worse overnight. Turns out he needed a root canal and he needed it right away! Not only were they able to see us very quickly and fix the tooth the same day, but also they treated us very well. We saw Dr. Chen. He was good with my son, who was very scared and in pain. The front desk staff was FABULOUS. The dental assistants were nice. The financing agent explained what our bill would be BEFORE the procedure was done. And, in the end, it cost less than their estimate. We had to drive quite a way to get to this dental center because it was the only one we could find open on Saturday, but I will be going back there again - driving distance and all.

Castle Dental on S Lamar was awful they tried to over sell me. Over clean me, told me I had a cavity which they filled and has been in PAIN ever since. Then they keep sending me bills for past due amounts. I paid them everything they asked me to at the time of the visit and I gave them my insurance but they still are coming at me for more money this is a NIGHTMARE.

Dear Rachel T. (08/08/08 message), Anonymous (02/20/08 message), and Anonymous (10/25/07 message), and any other Monarch Dental/Castle Dental/Bright Now! dental patients who are interested !
I have finished writing a draft of a complaint to the Texas Attorney General's Office regarding a Monarch Dental office's attempt to sell me a deep cleaning when all that I needed was a general cleaning. Texas-based Monarch Dental and Texas-based Castle Dental Centers are subsidiaries of Bright Now! Dental, Inc.
I have copied your statements, along with the statements of other Monarch/Castle/Bright Now! dental patients in various dental offices across the country who experienced similar problems when attempting to get their standard cleanings and/or who experienced attempts to sell them dental services that they in fact did not need. If you have an e-mail address and/or telephone number that you would like for me to submit with my letter so that the government officials can call you also regarding your experience with Monarch/Castle/Bright Now! affiliated dentists, PLEASE let me know ASAP.

Best regards,
a concerned Texan

P.S. I did NOT want to give any star rating, but www.insiderpages.com forced me to, so I gave the lowest one possible - really, www.insiderpages.com should change its system to allow for a "no star" ("zero") rating.

I saw this group in June and submitted my dental insurance card at that visit. They sent me to a specialist because they could not read their own x-rays with confidence. Every month they sent a bill claiming it was unpaid. Every month I called them and the insurance company to find out why. For 5 consecutive months, Castle Dental (Barton Creek) said they had filed a claim and had checked eligibility which was denied. Each month United Concorida said they had never received a claim or a call from Castle Dental. My husband physically went in to Castle in October and showed their inept, rude staff that Castle was not set up to file electronically with UC and for that reason United Concordia would only accept a fax or mailed claim. We were assured Castle would file the claim. Within weeks we receive a letter threatening to turn us over to a collection agency for non-payment. My husband went in again, called United Concordia over the speaker phone for all to hear, who again said no claim was ever submitted by Castle. My husband paid in full, had the idiot Castle staff sign a receipt, and had United Concordia verbally agree not to pay a claim from Castle because we had paid in full. Apparently as my husband left, Castle filed a claim (probably by fax since it beat ours there) knowing they had full payment. Castle was paid by United Concordia within 2 days of the claim being received by UC. Today Castle Barton Creek refused to refund our payment, gave us and the United Concordia rep two different addresses and phone numbers to contact the corporate office (the one they gave my husband was incorrect). When I called, the staff laughed at the idea of being reported to any state or regulatory agencies but I am reporting them. I will never use these people again. They do inflate their prices and services as reported by others. They run a scam in any way possible. AVOID.

I'd like to file a formal complaint against Castle Dental. I didn't learn for 2 years that I was being scammed! They try to tell you that you need extra cleanings, so they can CHARGE you. The "special" hygenists cancelled my appointemnts twice in a row for family emergencies, and of course it takes about 3 mos to re-schedule an appointment!
Then I needed a crown on a seemingly fine tooth! I didn't know to question it...because I never had a crown before! After over $1500 later...I had severe pain in a tooth from a crown I probably didn't even need. I had to have multiple adjustments, and ended up getting a crack resulting in an abcess in the tooth directly below the stupid crown! So I ended up with another root canal & crown for another $1500. This is with my insurance!!! Then they tried to also tell me my wisdom teeth MUST come out because although they came in straight...and I'm somehow not keeping them clean enough! I feel these people are TOTALLY incompetent & SCAM every trusting individual that walks into the door.
Thank the lord I decided to FINALLY change dentists. HE apparently thinks I have great teeth & excellent gums! Got a free cleaning & xrays all on my first appointment, and only paid $5. He was kind, gentle & said..."We will adress your wisdom teeth as you have problems. You are doing a fine job cleaning them & they may never cause any problems. If you remove them you can risk BONE LOSS 7 damage to the other teeth! Ok, so keep up the good work & I'll see you in 6 mos!" I am considering talkign about this with my lawyer. I am sure I am not the only one with this experience!I may have to file a suit to get this all sorted out!

I read these reviews and sat in horror... just about every one of these reflects my experience as well at the Cedar Park location (on 1421). Unnesessary treatments-yes, they are the only ones who insisted on pulling tooth that did not hurt when I was pregnant. They are the only ones who insisted that my husband and I get "special" more expensive treatment. I hard about it for the first and last time in my life, when I changed dentists, my new dentist never mentioned anything "special" it was done and covered by insurance. They did try to take Xrays while I was pregnant, I told them no, so they scheduled my follow up appointment with the Xrays included as well. I had to explain to them that 2 weeks later I would not be any less pregnant. They prescribed an antibiotic for my gums, again, knowing I was pregnant, when my OB saw the name, she almost dropped off the chair, supposedly it is the oldest and the most harmful of all and the dentist should have known that. My OB said there were plenty others out there that dentists prescribe that are OK to take if needed when pregnant. And finally when we transferred from there to a great independant dentist, we got a mysterious bill for a "missed" appointment we never made supposedly occurring 2 months after we had transferred. The bill was small, $26, but finally set me off, I was tired of dealing with them. They would not take it off, would not initially tell who their upper management is for complaint. They never even called for confirmation, I checked our phone records on the days they said they "called", there were lies all over the place and finally I guess they got tired of me and told me they'd take it off. Lies, rudeness and unprofessionalism all over the place. These people cannot fill a paper out, it is scary they touch people's teeth.

I went to Castle Dental for several visits a couple of years ago, and I must say I couldn't have been treated worse. The staff was unfriendly and just herded me through like so much livestock. The dentists didn't even stick around to answer questions, and the bill, I mean THE BILL. They told me that I needed $2,000.00 worth of work, and when I told the lady I would have to do a little bit at a time for the sake of finances, she all but rolled her eyes at me. i had two cavities filled, one of which I had to have worked on 3 times bacause of the pain it caused me. Sadly, it had been so long that I just figured that was how it was. After thinking about it, though, I decided to try another dentist in the area. Today, I went to the South Omni Dental Group and had a fabulous experience. They were friendly, efficient, and they told me that I didn't need any of the work that Castle said I did. I spent half the amount for my checkup, as well. All this leads me to one question: If I don't have 5 cavities that need filled, what would Castle have done? Drilled holes in my teeth and fill them just to get my money?

I went to Castle Dental on S.Lamar. to have some work done regarding my gums. First I was 5 months pregnant and they still gave me X-rays, even uncovered without protection when there was a big sign that stood over us that stated "If you are Pregnant stop now!" I repeatedly asked if they were sure everything would be OK and they assured me it would be. I should have stopped them but I didn't. Then when I did the X-rays they asked me to place my ear rings in a plastic cup. So I did. Well among everything that was going on I forgot to ask for my earrings back, when I did, they had mysteriously disappeared. Then they told me that they do not ask people to place there jewelry in plastic cups when taking X-rays. Well Brandon did! I have not delivered my baby yet I"m only 6 months and so far so good, but if anything happens b/c of those x-rays and them not protecting my properly, they will have the biggest lawsuit on their hands EVER!!!

I went to the Castle Dental on 41st street because it was on my dental plan. All I needed was a basic cleaning. When I got there, they took X-rays because it was my first visit then proceeded to tell me that the hygenist was out...the very reason I was there in the first place because I get regular checkups. Dr. Scott Berry was nice, but after awhile I got irritated with his jokes that my teeth were so good that he couldn't "get more money out of me." It turned out that wasn't much of a joke. He wanted me to go through an unnecessary procedure to the tune of almost $400, even with insurance. Needless to say, I cancelled the appointment for that procedure and I still have yet to get my teeth cleaned. Avoid Castle Dental. It's a dental "factory" rather than a dental facility. I give them one star because this site doesn't allow a "no star" review.

I went into castle dental on E 41st to get a crown and I have to say it was truly horrifying. The price of the crown after insurance was unreasonably high compared to other dentists I have since researched. The dental assistants were definitely not the most competent. A mold was put in my mouth when it was too warm, they had me laying down, and it dripped down my throat. Then the dental assistant made it seem like it was somehow my fault!

This is my first online review of any entity, ever. Was it not for Tracy, I'd give 4 stars on this first visit. Dr Gillette and staff were all warm, considerate, efficient, and really put me at ease. I was relieved to be having such a fine time. This made Tracy's behavior especially jarring and unexpected. From the first moment, she was uncommunicative and very rushed. Was I warned, I would know that "exam" involves inserting sharp metal between gum and tooth to take a measurement. Most people are naturally uncomfortable in a dentist's chair, and it's difficult to resist the flinch reflex sudden tooth pain elicits. No problem. But I wasn't warned and so the instant sharp pain came as a surprise. I asked her (in good humor) to wait a second, what she would be doing. From there it went downhill. She lost her temper with that innocent and politely-delivered question! Instead of pulling back a little, she kept aggressively stabbing away as if the building was on fire, irritated. She was in a frantic hurry, but it was clearly not for my benefit. A couple of times she even threw up her hands and took off her mask, as if I was absolutely intolerable, rudely said "we have to stop, I can't do this!" I told her she was being a little aggressive, and she spat back that "nobody has ever had a problem with it, I'm treating you like everyone else -- even children". I remained calm and told her I wasn't asked to be treated differently, but that her rudeness was unacceptable and asked her to calm down. At that point I stopped trying to talk to her so we could finish. She remained aggressive, inconsiderate, super-rushed -- even accusatory! If she was having a bad day, and had just said so, I would have understood. From what I could tell, though, her abrasive personality was a congenital.

I'm always an accommodating patient/ patron -- I know that the more helpful I am, the better the experience for BOTH me and the provider. I've always just informed whoever's working me of my sensitive spots so they know where to be more cautious. For god's sake, that never offended anyone. I've seen a Dentist virtually annually since I grew teeth. I've never had congeniality met with such unprompted hostility and unprofessionalism.

With my insurance I don't have many choices so I chose Castle Dental. Well, I ended up needing to have my cavities filled. I went to sit in the seat and they just started coming at me with shots and I didn't even know what was going on...NO explanation on what to expect or what they were doing...they just did it! The first shot I was given just leaked out of the syringe and all into my mouth. The others were so painful! It was a whirl-wind I didn't know what was happening. THEN the dental assistant proceeded to tell me that the oral surgeon at CASTLE DENTAL had just taken out her wisdom teeth and she felt everything. (I'm suppose to have mine taken out there too) That didn't make me feel to good! SO right now it's been 2 weeks since the fillings and the last couple of days it hurts to eat..I think my fillings came out! So what I am saying is don't go there! I am upgrading my insurance to choose who I want to go with it's worth it!

I had to go as an emergency to the center located in Ben White, close to Central Market. They helped me with the crown that I needed to be repalced, but after two months, I had to have it replaced again at other dentist's office. That crown was too big, out of shape, and with a huge gap between the gum and the crown, which made it easy for food to get trapped in there, which might have lead to a bigger damage.
On top of that, the dentist came up with a diagnostic for the other teeth that went up to $800 after insurance paid. After going to get a second and third opinion, none of what was written on that diagnostic seemed to be neeeded.

I tried calling for an appointment- after calling on and off all day I finally gave up. Are they still open for business? If no one answers the phone then business cannot be conducted. I also treid their website address castledental.com and the page was nto availble. Nor was it available to send them an email about this comment.
