Caring Professionals  5 Star Rating - World class

I moved here eight years ago and looked for a clinic near my house. I feel very fortunate that it was CTAH. They have not only administered routine checks but also gave me expert advice on seeing a specialist in caring for surgical emergencies. I wish finding a doctor for my two legged family members was as easy. Drs. Banks and Modak are extremely competent and the staff are truly supportive and friendly. Can't wait for building completion.

We had a great experience at Central Texas Animal Hospital  5 Star Rating - World class

I recently took my 12-year old dog in to the vet because her ears have been really itchy since we moved here. It was the 1st time I'd been there - we're new to the area - and I was greeted cheerfully by the receptionists up front. They fussed over my Ginger, really made us feel welcomed. I'm a little late getting her shots (with the move and all) and was dreading a guilt trip at the vet. But - no one made me feel bad. (My vet in California would have really jumped my case!) The doctor did Ginger's exam - he seemed very thorough and put her (and me) at ease! He cleaned out her ears and prescribed some medicine. The doctor's assistant showed me how to do the medicine and asked if I had any questions. Everyone that I encountered there was so professional and helpful. They even called me a few days later to see how Ginger's ears were doing. I will definitely be bringing my other dog and cat there when they need to see a doctor. I recommend Central Texas Animal Hospital - they are reasonably priced and are caring and professional.

Money grabbers  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

Modak is misdiagnosed my dog a few years ago. Said she was incontinent. The dog was only four years old. Wanted me to put her on pills the rest of her life. (Money grab) The problem cleared up on its own in a couple of weeks. Julian is just as bad. Said my dog whos is nine now has kidney problems and needs KD Science diet. $44 for a 20lbs bag. He said she needed her teeth cleaned. The bactiera in her mouth was part of the kidney problem? Charged me for $370 total for it! I have owned several dogs in my life and they all lived past 12 years of age without a teeth cleaning. What a ripoff. Female doctor there tried to tell me to buy their joint health food. Said it might help my dogs allergies too? Give me a break. They will tell you anything to keep the money train coming. I am done with them.

They saved our dogs' life.  4 Star Rating - Very good

We had to take our little dachshund down to them for weekend care that our regular vet couldn't provide. He was in the hospital, recovering from a teeth cleaning that had started to develop into pancreatitis. (He's an older dog). Anyway, our regular vet couldn't quite get the diagnosis down. The doc's at Central were able to correctly diagnose and treat him so that instead of taking him back to our regular vet on Monday, like we thought we were going to have to do, we were able to take him home! The only issue we had with our experience was that the billing was a little deceptive in the way it was presented. It was not clearly explained and I still think we were charged twice for two procedures, however, we are very grateful for the care that our dog received. They know what they are doing for your pet...the paperwork, not so much. Make sure you double-check your bill!

Consistently Excellent Care  5 Star Rating - World class

In my experience, the Doctors and staff at CTAH deliver "world class" care! I've been taking my cats there for 7 years and have always had great experiences. Even when my Callie had to be put to sleep, the entire staff showed such compassion. I recommend this hospital to my friends because I know that they'll be treated right.
I also LOVE the groomer, Janice. She takes great care of my babies!

"She Came To Me For Help"  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

My review is 2 thumbs down for sure. My 3 yr. old cat was diagnosed by Dr. Modak and Dr. Julian wrong. They at first (Dr.Modak) even told me that sometimes our pets tend to act more hurt than they were in company with the owner. Couldnt find anything visible wrong but agreed she had trauma to her left front shoulder. Gave me pain meds for her. I was the one who found punture wounds on her a block away from the vets office and went back. No one had shaved her to really look at her until I went back. Modack was already gone and Dr. Julian said it looked like she was bit by a dog. gave me antibiotics to go along with the pain meds given a few minutes ago.To make this long painful story short < Trinket was bitten by a rattlesnake. By the time anyone figured this out by the next day and I rushed her to the emergency for the antivenin it was too late. The one bottle that they administered to her along with blood they were fixing to give her was just too late. My Trinket died because I believe Dr Modak was in too big a hurry to get home or whatever that day (Friday 5/16/08) to really check her out like he should have. The next day even asked me if there were any spiders around my house , like brown reclouse's when I took her back desperatly trying to get help for her. He should have done more in his examination of her. At least shaved her hair where he believed her trauma was , maybe he would have given her the right diagnoses then, maybe not. I will never take anyone back there again ever. She was in so much pain , so much. I still hear her crying to me for help. Can't get it out of my mind.Dr.Modak you are suppose to be the doctor and know this kind of stuff , who am I ? bill was 275.00 with 2 x rays that I had requested.

Thorough, attentive and friendly!  5 Star Rating - World class

I was referred to Central Texas Animal Hospital by my neighbor. She said that she has taken her pets there for about 8 years. From the initial phone call, I was impressed. They were so nice when I called, telling me which days they have discounts and making sure that I knew how to get there. They fussed over my "Roofie" - a 9 year-old hound mix. Each person that we encountered was so nice and professional. The doctor that we saw was young, but caring and personable. The prices were reasonable - less than my vet in Round Rock. I would highly recommend this clinic!

Caring, compassionate Doctors and staff 5 Star Rating - World class

I recently went to this vet clinic on the recommendation of a colleague. My family recently moved here and have several pets.
My older cat had been sick for a while and we'd been taking him to our vet in Dallas for kidney problems. He went downhill fast after our move. My wife and I knew that it was time to have him put to sleep. I've never had to do this before, so I wasn't sure how to go about it. I made the call to Central Texas Animal Hospital and the lady on the phone was so helpful - really professional and caring. She explained our options (cremation, etc) and scheduled our appointment.
My wife and I met with Dr. Modak and he was so great with our cat. After examining him, he explained what would happen and assured us that we were doing the right thing. The receptionist had us fill out a form and let us pay our bill in the exam room (my wife was quite upset) so we didn't have to stand up front with other people coming and going. She also gave us some pointers to help our kids deal with the loss of their pet and offered to loan us some children's books.
Everyone up there helped to make this unpleasant experience a little more bearable. I will definitely be bringing the rest of my pets there and I will recommend them to others. -David

I have been taking my furry kids here since 1987 5 Star Rating - World class

Rest assured, there will always be someone who has a different opinion. However based on 19 years of experience with Dr. Neans, he is THE best. He has the amazing ability to accurately diagnose a problem with my dog in less than a minute without testing. His experience makes him superior. The staff: Cathy, Vicki, Michelle, to name a few, are also high caliber. Its true the building is small and somewhat outdated. But if its the care of your animal that is the concern, this clinic is the best by any standard. I read a review complaining about the price of care involving Dr. Banks and her advise of continued care. Keep in mind, there are 2 sides to every story. Through the years I have spent many thousands of dollars at CTAH as I have multiple dogs, all rescued and with health issues. However, having said that, the usual cost of exam and any associated lab fees is by far less than any other vet. Since I moved out of Pflugerville I briefly researched going to a facility closer to my home. This idea was dismissed when I came to my senses! Admittedly though, I did compare prices and CTAH is approx. 20-25% less than others in terms of vaccinations, exams, lab, Xrays and dentals. These people care about animals and are competent which, in my opinion, trumps all. I will be really sad when the day comes that Dr Neans retires, however he has set the expectation on the care delivered at his clinic. Debbie H

Deceptive price on the phone quotes. Bill was a lot higher than other vets in the area! 3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

Being a senior citizen on a fixed income, I called several vets to get their charges on vaccinations for my two little dogs. I chose this clinic because they appeared to be reasonable in their charges. However, when I went in to pick up my dogs, the charges were double the amount quoted to me on the phone. They added additional services that was not quoted on the telephone when I called them for prices on standard vaccinations. What choice did I have but to pay the bill and take my babies home. I had also requested estimates on teeth cleaning and cherry eye surgery and I found the estimate to be way out of my price range. I will not use this clinic again because they did not give me the correct quotes and I found their prices to high for me to pay.

Great service, great care! 5 Star Rating - World class

I've been to lots of different veterinarians in my many years and this place really stands out. You can tell that the doctors and staff love animals and love what they're doing. The doctors - there are 4 - are great. Dr. Banks helped my older dog with his (chronic) ear problem. They all seem to work well together. It is a really busy place, but I always feel like I'm getting attention. I took my newly adopted pet there. FREE "wellness" exam for pets from a shelter. I was surprised to get ANYTHING free from a VET! The staff congratulated me on my new pet and took his picture! After his grooming, he had a bow on and he looked and smelled awesome. BTW - groomer is top notch. really cannot say enough about this clinic. I recommend them to my friends. I know my pets are in good hands.

Pros: enthusiastic staff
Cons: older , small building
