this place has pies and that is what it's good for, don't expect some high end food, it's great without being overly pretentious but nice folks. Right by Huts burgers, easy to get to and bars within walking distance.

Hey. truth be told, Austin is not a great pizza town but Frank and Angie's has pretty good pie. And the lasagna is really good. All of the pasta is good too. I guess it's just a good downtown Italian joint. Jumpin' and lunch time, and that is always a good sign.

Great pizza. Menu has lots of options and may have combos you haven't heard of before.

Wait staff is friendly and the decor is nice.

Parking isn't as bad as you might imagine considering its location.

And you might get a glimpse of Leslie!

After hearing about it and reading about it for awhile, I finally made my way over there. The parking was a little tight but if you go at the right time (5:37 pm) you should be ok. I invited a few friends to go along so there were four of us, a few is three, not two like some non Austinites seem to think. (3 + 1 = 4) The math doesn't lie. Anyway, we sat amongst some of the beautiful people and marveled at the thought of mingling with other Austinites. We were all dressed casual but yet, sophistocated. It was our Hawaiin shirt night so we were all sporting our tiki wear (that's what I call it) and I must say we looked good. Me especially! I was wearing my favorite tiki shirt that cost me well over $100. It's so cool even Don Ho would've been impressed! Ok, anyway, the pizza was good but not outstanding. I've had outstanding and 'just good' on many occasions so I know what I'm talkng about. The staff was friendly enough but I detected our waiter to be a tad bit snobby (As if, ha, ha, ha!) Anyway, I would go there again in a year or two after I had pretty much forgotten I had went there before, it's decent place. It could stand a good mopping though. Maybe an Elvis painting on the wall or something cool, maybe a Don Ho painting.

We stopped in after someone said this was the best pizza. We ordered a large with several toppings. It was $26, thick, undercooked and generally lousy. We stopped in at a bar that doesn't serve food,on our way home, and gave it away.\r
We are from the Northeast originally and the best pizza we've found so far is at Saccone's on 620

I ordered a calzone due to tomato allergies. Since the sauce isn't an option, the server suggested Alfredo sauce. Great suggestion but I was charged for the sauce without being told. The sauce definitely wasn't worth paying as the flavor was lacking.

If you want good pizza, you must try this place. If you want anything else, look some place else. The pastas are a joke and their glasses of wine are more like thimbles of wine. That said, I have never been let down by any of their pies, and I think I have tried them all. Definitely worth trying!

Cute little place with a good rep. Went there to check it out and there were so many options. I played it safe with chicken parm and my husband had a pizza. Boy it was good stuff. Staff was slow and spacey though.

Went here on a friend's recommendation for the calzones and... yea... they are the shiznit. I haven't tried anything else, but by the looks and smell of it I wouldn't be suprised if everything else on the menu is dank.

I went here today on the recommendation of a friend who wanted to meet for a quick lunch. I had the slice and salad combo for $6.50 and got a salad & slice of pepperoni. \r
\r
The salad was tasty and came with a hunk of bread that was also good. Nothing earth shattering here, just good food. The pizza was tasty as well...perfectly cooked. A little greasy but excellent overall. I would absolutely come back here if looking for a quick bite and fast place to meet a friend for lunch.

I thought I had left my cloak of invisibility in the car, but I must have mistakenly worn it into the restaurant. I just wanted a light lunch, a slice, salad and a tea. It was 1:30 when I walked in so the lunch rush was over and there were only a few people in the place. The sign said to seat yourself, so I did. I was there maybe 1 to 2 minutes when another guy by himself walked in and he sat at the table right in front of mine. We continued sitting for a couple minutes when one of the employees told another that there were a couple guys seated and waiting. The fact that I couldn't make out his response makes it seem as tho it was a wisecrack. He walked over, got a menu and gave it to the other guy asking what he wanted to drink. He walked right between our tables to go get it. He came back and the guy ordered. He again walked right between our tables to go place the order. I thought now he'll service me. I was wrong. He walked over to another table to pick up the payment from another table. He made a point to go out of his way to walk by my table yet again. I waited another minute or two and at 1:41, The message was clear, he was not gonna wait on me for some unknown reason so I put my jacket back on and walked out. I'll be leaving the same review on Yelp as I'm an Elite Yelper. Also, city search charges businesses 50 cents each time someone clicks on there city search listing. This is gonna cost them a buck or two a day for however long I feel like it.

Frank & Angies is a hidden gem! Has some of the BEST Pizza that we?ve found in Austin. This small pizzeria has tasty pizza?s. I happened upon Frank & Angie?s when I was visiting the book store downtown. The kids were in the mood for pizza - I wasn?t. I was pleasantly surprised. We had pepperoni & the kids had the WORKS. It?s a little high for pizza, but the taste is much better than most. Nice memorabilia & music to add to the enjoyment. Parking can be a problem, but worth the effort.

My family and I read this and since they flew in from Hawaii they wanted a casual place for dinner for their first night in Austin. We went at 5:30pm on a Thursday night and there was ample parking. The youngest started with an order of minestrone soup (better than yours mom). The taste was authentic with lots of veggies. The 17 year olds split an 18"" pizza. The crust was thin and crispy with lots of pepperoni. The baby ate a 10"" pepperoni by himself. My sister and I ordered the Mama Sopranos baked ziti with meatballs. Lots of flavor with just the right amount of sauce and cheese. We also shared the eggplant provolone. Delish! Both the pastas could have been split and would have served 4 easily. My other son had the DiMaggio sandwich. There was lots of salami which he liked. It could have used more vinaigrette. The surprise was that it was served on warm homemade bread. The best value for the adults was the wine. I was pleasantly surprised Coppola wine was the house wine. The DaVinci Chiant was delicious as well. We ordered two pizzas, two pastas with salads, asandwich, 5 glasses of wine, 3 sodas all for $70.00. A great value in the eyes of my Hawaiian family. We will definitely eat here again.

Really liked this place. I loved the atmosphere, the service and the food was terrific. The location stinks but it's worth every annoyance. Not the cheapest place in town for pizza with toppings, but hey you get what you pay for!

My husband and I go fairly often and usually order the same thing since we love it so much - Guido's garden salad, the Chairman of the Board pizza and all the coke we can drink. It's always good, and like to do a date night there, and have not had problems with the service (I don't have high expectations of service when we all live in a city full of college students). Parking is usually an issue though.

Frank and Angie's is an Austin institution. The food is good, consistent and very affordable. If you are on a budget and want some italian style food it's really hard to beat. Probably the best value in town. Parking can be a little tricky since it's next to Hut's hamberger place. But parking is tough all over town if you haven't noticed.

i (heart) frank and angie's!! the pizza is simply amazing - the gina lollibrigida, the chairman of the board - and they have the best bar-b-que pizza in town (trust me, i didnt even want to try it and its awesome!!)

parking isnt the greatest, the atmosphere is so-so (sit on the porch if the weather is good). you can bring your own wine if you dont want to choose off the menu.

THE best pizza in Austin. There is no comparison. This charming little place cannot be touched. While many restaurants have good pizza but the rest of the food suffers, Frank and Angies' other dishes are fantastic, as well. The daily specials are always an awesome deal and are always delicious!

I went to Frank and Angie's based on past reviews in Citysearch. The pie was ok, but far from great. My biggest disappointment was the cheese on the pie. They must be using low-fat mozzerella. The cooler the pie gets, the chewier the cheese gets. Whole milk mozzerella stays gooey as the pie cools off. Otherwise the pie was ok. Don't get your hopes up!

While their next door neighbor Hut's is usually packed for lunch and dinner, do not overlook this gem. True they have great pizza, but try thr LaMotta calzone, and the Deniro meatball sandwich.

This place is a hidden gem. At least it's new to me. I've been several times in the last couple of weeks to try out different menu items and they've all been terrific! The pizza is the best I've had in this town--hands down. The pasta dishes are comparable to what you would get in a fine dining establishment for a lot more money. The desserts are to die for. The service is also excellent. I love it!

This was the worst Italian experience ever. The pasta was bland and lukewarm. The bread was stale and tasteless - not even sure what kind it was. I know that pizza is supposed to be good here. Stick with it.

If you like the saucy but crispy flavor of NYC pizza, you'll love this place. Try adding spinach to your pizza and you'll get fresh baby spinach that is crispy and flavorful right on top! Great vegatarian options too. Enjoy.

I've been a loyal Frank and Angies diner for seven years...until three months ago. The first time I had a bad meal there, I thought it was a fluke, so I went back. The second time was even worse and the third time I couldn't even eat my pizza. Each time the cheese was rubbery and cold, the toppings were not spread around the pizza and they seem to be confused about what exactly feta cheese is. I would not recommend eating here and have since found a new favorite pizza place.

The only thing the last reviewer got right about Frank & Angie's is that the service is friendly. It is not just better ""then"" Pizza Hut--it is the best pizza in Austin. They don't have a meatball sub--they have a meatball calzone and a meatball sandwich. And they don't have anything resembling cheese sticks. If you're going to write a review--make sure you're in the right restaurant.

Frank and Angie's is the best pizza place in Austin. I am from Chicago and used to live in NYC, so I'm fussy about pizza. Frank and Angie's crust is crispy, the toppings are fresh, the cheese is not too heavy/not too light, the sauce is yum. The waitstaff is friendly. The salad was also quite delish and everything was *very* well priced. Oh, and the cannoli--how could I forget. Sweet and ginormous! You won't go home hungry; you won't go home sick. I'm very glad to have found good pizza here in Austin. My only rec for F and A: fresh mozzerella would be a delightful pizza option. Otherwise, Frank and Angie's gets my devotion.

Thin to win - Frank & Angie's tops a marvelous crispy thin crust with loads of toppings. The ""Chairman of the Board"" (named for Frank Sinatra whose pictures are as ubiquitous here as Elvis' pics at Chuy's) is truly the King of the Hill when it comes to Austin pizza!

Frank and Angie's is a small pizzeria with big, tasty pizzas. The wait time varies. Sometimes it is packed, sometimes there is plenty of seating. The salads there are very good. The pizzas are better than anything you could ever get delivered and the dessert is good as well. Service was pleasant and the diner was consistent with its mafia theme. A good place to relax with some friends or some family though you may have to park a block or two away, go monday or tuesday night for the pizza specials.

maadona mia,
Frank,.. Angie, what happened. The pizza it was once so good, but I must say the service, and the slices were way under average upon the last few visits.
We paid almost 25 dollars for a subpar pie with more garlic than I have ever seen together in one place. We couldn't finish our meal, and the waitress seemed annoyed to be bothered with having a job there. Come on, I wish I was exagerating. The reputation needs to be redeemed.
want to like the place but need to be convinced it doesnt suck just because someone said it was cool once.

want to like the place but need to be convinced it doesnt suck just because someone said it was cool once.

Pros: good wines, good location

Cons: small portions, lotsa money, average pie

.

you gotta love frank and angies!! the gina lollibrigida is to die for! the service is always a bit lacking- but thats what you get here in slackerville.

I really like the sauce on the pizza. It's what makes it my favorite pizza in town. You can't beat Sunday's 2 for 1 spaghetti. It is a college student's dream - get a friend to go in with you and you get a plate of pretty good spaghetti with marinara for $2.50...not bad. My fiance always has plenty of good things to say about the calzones...I think his favorite is the LaMotta. I like the Mira Sorvino. It's a good thing for the money.

I like this place. It is a great restaurant for a date, the menu is inexpensive, and the pizza is great! It is not the best pizza in the world, but what do you expect? This is Texas!

I love the slice and salad special for lunch. It's the perfect amount of food. Get there early, though, because parking fills up quickly during the lunch rush. The covered patio is a great place to relax and enjoy the pizza.

You may suffer a little later on, but the roasted garlic pizza is absolutely delicious. Great place for an inexpensive meal (including wine).
