piss poor, unclean, crabby owner, just like his mother. I got scorched queso, chipped plate, water glass broken on rim and told to expect the same the next time I came. One time, believe me, the LAST time, two childish girls (other customers) called me names and when I asked for the police to be called, Chuck asked me to leave. The guy is seriously delusional. As a former waitperson I would never, ever misbehave in an establishment or abuse or threaten anyone, much less someone who is going to bring me food for my consumption. (Can anyone spell "contamination?") So do not accuse your customers of threatening your staff.

Down to the details, this place is AWESOME!! I particularly get a kick out of the confetti colored sugar granules at lunch time (the owner told me he got that from Vegas), but the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and the food and drinks are Spectacular!

Every time I have been to this restaurant, I have always had a great experience. Servers friendly, food above average and the cost reasonable. Only issue with the place was it was a bit messy on the outside. Management needs to check out the outside and rest rooms a little more often. A bit embarrassing when you take out of town friends to a place that looks kinda trashy outside. other than that, Great food!

The food is good enough and cheap enough that I keep going back, but I have never been impressed with the wait staff. No one has ever been overly friendly and are sometimes hard to find. They usually drop the check off as soon as they serve you, so I'm always feeling rushed and unwelcome.

But, I recommend the mini-chimis... really good stuff!

The guacamole was brown, the pico was not fresh either, they were both obviously left from the prior day (I ate about 11:30 am). I ordered fajitas. The flavour was good but it was honestly the smallest serving of fajitas I had ever been served. I heard people at another nearby table also complaining about the brown guacamole so this is apparently the standard for them.

I've been coming here since 2004, and I've never had a bad experience! The service is always good, and the food is always tasty! La Morada is great for a quick lunch, and even better for a long enjoyable dinner! The fajitas, burritos, and tacos are delicious and one of a kind! I always bring my out of town visitors to La Morada!

If you're looking for something to have during lunch, skip La Morada. This is my second time during lunch, the first time middle of the week, second time on a Friday. Both times we waited at least 35 minutes before our food came out. The food is not that good to be late from lunch. Plenty of our great dining places along Parmer Lane.

If you are looking for interior mexican food then this may not be exactly what you are looking for. However, I love TexMex. I love interior mexican food. And, I love LaMorada! The burger here is fantastic, the queso is some of my favorite in town. I've eaten here well over a hundred times and have never had a bad meal. Enjoy!! Tim E.

The food here is consistently good, with a friendly staff and laid back atmosphere. Nothing is fancy about the establishment but I would recommend it to anyone who wants a quality meal in a family friendly setting.

Pros: Excellent Mexican Martini

We love the great food and friendly service at La Morada. Our food is always prepared exactly like we want it and is served in generous proportions. Our son introduced us to La Morada in 1994 and now we are taking our grandchildren there!
Our favorites are the Beef Enchiladas, Beef Fajita Nachos, and, of course, the Guacamole! My husband loves the Verde Salsa they serve with the chips! Our grandchildren love the Queso, Cheese Enchiladas, Chicken Tenders, and Chicken Fried Steak!
The Wait Staff is extremely friendly; Chuck, the Owner/Manager, is extremely friendly and helpful with menu ideas; and you will enjoy the food. We don't drink, but I have heard that the drinks are great!

I came here for the first time a month ago and have been back twice since, this place is for sure one of the, if not the best place to go to for Tex Mex. The margaritas were great and very reasonably priced. The waitstaff was overly friendly and very welcoming. It's a great place to go to watch your favorite sports on a nice flat screen tv, without having the annoyance of a bar full of drunk people hootin and hollerin. If you live in Austin, I would recommend coming here to eat, or if you are from out of town coming to the Austin Area, this is a must!

Pros: Everything!

Cons: NOTHING!

La Morada is trying to be something for everyone, huge flat screen tv's, a ""bar"", and small seating area. There is a lack of flow and comfort to the space. The only nice thing I saw was the mural. Having enjoyed some great deals elsewhere when it comes to Mexican fare, this place scored well below my expectations. I mean come on... over 5 bucks for two tiny enchiladas (just cheese!) and the traditional sides cost you extra (rice & beans & pico...). OK, they had the chips and salsa for the table, but the salsas were so hot that they were too spicy to eat. Chile rennenos, just under 10 bucks. My husband had soup, he said they used the wrong kind of meat, or maybe a cheaper one. He was not very impressed either. The waitress seemed afraid to do her job, did I make you nervous? We are not going back, there are other true Mexican resturants with much more plate for your buck than here.

Do NOT go to this restaurant!!! My family and I went here a couple of weeks ago and had a great experience so we decided to go back. Bad move on our part. It was crowded which I understand, it was Father's Day. However, when our waiter finally came over he was rude and arrogant. For the rest of the time we were there he had an attitude. When my sister asked for a cup of ice for my mom, he brought it back about 5 min. later and practically threw it on the table at her and just left without saying a word. We sat through his horrible service and then when he brought the checks they had added gratuity on. My stepdad asked to speak to the manager who was standing just around the corner. When the waiter went over we heard him tell her ""The service was great"" so she already came over assuming that whatever we were going to say was not true. When we told her we wanted the gratuity removed, she asked why. We explained to her that the waiter had been rude the whole time and inattentive. Her response was ""Well, he was inattentive because we were busy."" Well, that may have been true when we got there but the restaurant had been practically empty for at least the second half of the time we were there. I told her just because you are busy is no excuse to be rude. Well, I guess she didn't like that & she took the checks and walked away. As soon as she did that, the waiter came up behind her and said none of that was true, that we were lying because he gave us incredible service. I turned around and told him ""You don't need to lie."" Obviously he knew he was in the wrong or else he wouldn't have immediately told her that the service was great when we asked to speak with her. Anyway, I went next door to get some cash to pay b/c I didn't trust them with my credit card & while I was gone I found out the manager came over and told my family she didn't appreciate me yelling at her employee. Are you kidding me? I've never been anywhere that has reprimanded the customer for complaining!

La Morada; perhaps the closest I'll ever get to culinary Heaven! First-rate Chef(s), with a unique facility for recognizing and achieving 'perfection'. I've had Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner there numerous times and can't wait to dine there again. Owner leads by example with up-close-and-personal touch, and wait-staff the friendliest in Austin. Everything on the menu is superb! All 'plates' are attractively presented and piled with very fresh and tasty ingredients; a virtual 'feast' for your eyes.......and (of course) your tummy! I HIGHLY recommend this ultra-good, ultra-friendly, ultra-clean and well-kept Tex-Mex Restaurant. Viva! La Morada!

This place doesn't look promising given its unassuming front next to the HEB, but the chicken enchildas make it really stand out. I thought everything else was fairly average and the portions for queso and guacamole were a little smaller than other restaurants, but the chicken enchiladas with ranchero sauce were amazing! Their happy hour for beer, margaritas, and 1/2 price appetizers lasts until 7:00 and even though the margaritas were very salty and sour I'll be back again. All in all a good place to try if you live in the neighborhood!

Cons: Salty margaritas, not much food for the price

La Morada has some of the best house frozen margaritas I've tasted in Austin! The prices are right, the service from Justin and Jose was excellent, and the food is delicious. You've got to try the Queso Lodo! The only negative I found was that the salsa was a bit bland and not spicy or salty enough. Otherwise, it is a great place for dinner or happy hour!

this is where i go when i'm feeling blue or when i find it necessary to be indulgent. great veggie selection, great enchiladas. the choice! the choice is where you get to pick from from an assortment of guacamole salad, tacos, chalupas, soup and an enchilada entree. fantastic! the vegeladas are heaven. the only downside is the initial chips and salsa, but the salsa tastes great as an accompaniement

Cons: chips/salsa- great with food but kind of dissapointing on its own

We went with a group of ladies who needed separate tickets, or at least, a ticket that showed individual orders. When the waiter wouldn't help us, the manager came out and explained it wasn't his policy to ""break down"" orders and told us to use our calculators. The waiter, was nice, but he was caught in a bind because of his boss. When we left, the manager made a sarcastic remark. Needless to say, we won't be back.
