I saw just oxtail on cooking channel months ago and had to try it. I love soul food and I am a good cook but they nailed it! Some of the best oxtail beans and greens I have had ever but especially in Houston!

I ate here on July 3, 2011. I was just passing by, heard of it before, thought I would try it out. I love oxtails, stewed, smothered, baked, doesn't matter. I thought I would order oxtails, because it is in the name. Soul Food is not my first choice of cuisine. I had a $12 dinner that consisted of oxtails, yams, rice dressing, and pinto beans. I also had some mustard greens off my friend's plate. I threw the dinner in the dumpster at the rear end of the restaurant before I exited the parking lot.\nThe temperature of the food was great. The overall value was poor. I have a trained culinary background and I like to eat, so I know good food. the oxtails were thin...not a big problem, but they were not as tender as they should have been. The gravy was greasy and the flavor was poor. The yams were very good, they were just right for soul food. The rice dressing was disgusting. It was like boudin, taken out of the casing and cooked into a pudding with big chunks of meat. The pinto beans were salty, they had a good bit of meat in them, but they were spicy too...I dont know why. I would never recommend this restaurant. I think it may just be the only known soul food restaurant in their area, so people just settle. I did not like it at all.\nI wont even mention the staff and their appearance, or that the cashier had to check her incoming text message AFTER saying will that be all.

II paid for the two dinners and drove home. When I got home I showered and sat down to eat dinner only there was one problem: NO MEAT!\r\n\r\nSo I put one some clothes and headed back in the rain to go back to the restaurant. I called the restaurant while en route. The woman on the other end informed me that they closed at 9 PM and there was nothing she can do (it was about 5 minutes after 9 PM and I was en route). I told her that I had been en route for a while and I was only 5 minutes away. She said she needed to call the owner and call me back because they had put the food away already and they closed the register and couldnt refund my money.\r\nWhen I arrived at the restaurant, they stood in the window and looked at us STANDING IN THE RAIN holding my bag, food, and receipt in-hand. They would not allow us to come in after the rain. For more than 20 minutes, we stood outside in the rain trying to get them to talk to us through the glass. We kept calling from our cell phones; they would not answer the phone. Although we were being polite, the staff grew more and more rude and seemingly upset with us. I could read their lips. The girl behind the counter kept mouthing to us Were closed. Were closed. They grew more and more upset and rude.\r\nIt was as if I did something wrong for coming back to get the food I paid for! It was as if I inconvenienced them! They acted as if I was wrong for wanting food and/or my money! They were very ugly acting about the whole thing. \r\nAfter more than 20 minutes, the woman called me back and informed me that she had spoken to the OWNER and HE SAID THAT I NEEDED TO COME BACK THE NEXT DAY! He would not authorize them to go in the back and get me some food or give me my money back! Can you believe it? After driving there TWICE and standing in the rain (I was soaked), the best they could say is come back tomorrow and we will talk about it? They want me to go back a THIRD TIME? Gas is not cheap and my car only takes premium gas not to mention I work 10-hour days. Can I be any more inconvenienced? \r\nIf I were a businessman and in the owners shoes, I would have gotten up and driven in the rain and gave my customer the money out of my own pocket because that is good customer service. Or I would have authorized my employees to issue a refund. I would have even told my employees to go in the kitchen and unwrap two pieces of meat, warm it up, and take care of my customers. None of this happened. Instead, I was treated as if I did something wrong. \r\n

My husband and I visited the resturant on April 13,2010 and we ordered three of the ox tail dinners and some chitterlings plus desert. The food was very good it was just like I expected it to be. The place is very clean and the people the employees are very professional. The only thing I have negative to say is the mash potatoes were a little to salty.

The food here is SOOOOO GOOOD. The portions are huge and even if you get a child's place you will be stuffed. The service is quick, but there is always a long line, ESPECIALLY ON SUNDAY after church. But honestly, it is worth the wait.
