5 Stars: Very good and friendly! (by Lovemybaby)

As an out of town customer, I was looking for a cake or two for my husband's dinner party in town. I was pleased to find a great website online before we went to Houston that outlined all of the prices and details that I needed. I could have even ordered it online and picked it up. But for fear of never being able to find it, I deceided to go to the store. It was alittle difficult to find, as the website had an old address and apparently the cafe moved a few streets down. However, when I walked in, I got great service. I ordered 2 whole cakes, the Oreo and the Chocolate Raspberry Sensation and was given frozen cakes for that evening (bc they were more fresh). The raspberry thawed in time and the Oreo had to stay chilled. I was a bit disappointed with the Oreo having thought there were Oreo's instead (and tere may have been but not in my piece) and would've probably been better with actual cake and not so much mousse. HOWEVER, the raspberry was sooo good! It was not dry like the previous review, so maybe the frizen ones are more fresh. The dinner guests loved the cake (and candles I got there) and so did my husband :) Will go back again!!!

3 Stars: Look Better than they taste (by debiauggie)

The desserts all look great, but I always find the cakes to be coarse and a little dry. I have eaten here 5 or 6 times. The frosting is always good but they could do much better on the cake batter. Every slice of cake I have ever bought has been very coarse and not light and fluffy. The cupcakes fare much better. Maybe the whole cakes are better.

5 Stars: best cake ever! (by littlebit0863)

Oh the cakes here are SO good. I have never had better. I haven't tried the food yet, but intend to. My sister and I shared a slice of chocolate cheesecake. My other sister had the classic diner cake. My brother had the strawberry cream cake. We couldn't keep our forks off each other's cakes! Definitely worth trying!

5 Stars: Best Lemon Cake EVER (by moxie19)

Dessert Gallery is a favorite place of mine when my sweet tooth kicks in. They have the best lemon cake I have ever had in my entire life. Sweet, and tart lemon curd filling with a perfect icing. I ordered cupcakes for my wedding from here and my guests loved them. Great size, quality and value for what I paid. The sandwiches here are amazing also. I recommend the Turkey Bombay. The staff is always very nice and generous!

5 Stars: Best CupCakes EVER!!! (by ms_liz_ms)

We ordered cupcakes for a co-workers baby shower. O.M.G. They were the best cupcakes EVER! We got the chocolate, raspberry & white cupcakes. While they were all good, the white one was the yummiest I have ever had, and I'm usually a fan of chocolate. I was in heaven the whole time. Definate Winner!

2 Stars: Disappointing food & coffee, desserts not bad. (by mmargo)

After hearing rave reviews, two friends and I went out of our way to get to the Dessert Gallery. Sadly, we decided to order food, instead of just dessert. The menu looks impressive, but the wraps were rather disappointing. (Although the cake was nice). The iced caramel latte I got was a poor excuse for coffee. It was made badly and the coffee lacked any flavor. Although the decor is adorable, I wouldn't recommend it.

5 Stars: Best Italian Cream Cake in Houston (by sspinck)

For my birthday, I was in search of the "best Italian Cream cake" in Houston; and I believe I found it. The service was great - I ordered online and received a call the next day to confirm the order. The graphics online look like the actual cake. I expected a two layer cake and the cake was three...exceeding my expectations. The cake was so good guests took cake home, and I almost did not eat a slice.

5 Stars: great place to grab dessert (by missorenishii)

love how they display their cakes for all to see - quite an enticing eye-candy feast, indeed. they have an extensive list of desserts - mostly cakes. it's a real sweet tooth experience and definitely a place to go if you are still hungry after dinner. the ambience is fun-loving and laid-back ... like visiting a fond childhood memory. surely won't disappoint! hint: also a great date place*

to bake a pretty cake. I've only tried the carrot cake, but it is the best I've EVER had. Huge, moist, and full of pecans. Good for special occasions (too expensive for evey day)

1 Stars: What a disappointment! (by lug)

I heard about this wonderful new bakery with huge yummy cakes and wanted to try it out. I've been there 4 different times over an 8 month period because I hate to pass judgement on the off chance that I happened to have ordered the one thing on the menu that was bad. I have been consistently disappointed. 8..( I've tried about 10 different cakes -- not a pig, just brought friends so we could share and they were subpar. I don't think my standards are too high, they just all taste the same -- like sugared cardboard. Variety meant they added cocoa to the same recipe for chocolate and/or slapped on some flavored cream or icing. The nontraditional cakes were better but not fantastic either -- something I would pay $2 for at a supermarket when desperate.

4 Stars: Great environment (by shmbp08)

Every time I go to the Dessert Gallery, I spend twice the time there I intended! The environment is conducive to sitting around with a group of friends and chatting about anything and everything. It is made for hanging out and the cakes, while there is not a large selection, are excellent. The Dessert Gallery provides board games, which are fun at any age to play with a bunch of your friends. Being a Vietnamese person, I was impressed to see they had Vietnamese coffee on the menu. When I tried it, it was a little weaker than I expected but quite good. The decor is fun and whimsical, and I recommend this place to anyone who is looking to have a fun evening with friends or family.

5 Stars: The cakes are great, but I love the atmosphere (by P. J.)

This reminds me a lot of a place I was at only once as a kid, a New York ice cream shop called Serendipity. Always busy, and the food was always colorful and sky-high. Fifteen years later I still remember Serendipity as one of the high point dining experiences I've had - and Dessert Gallery's the same way. It's not just the rich food (the cupcakes are great) but also the colors (the walls, the artwork, even the plates and tables) and atmosphere. It really makes you feel GOOD. The servers are outgoing and put you at ease right away. I recommend this place for a party for girlfriends, or a family or birthday outing.

5 Stars: moist cake and amazing icing (by rens1228)

we love this place and stop in at least once a week. real food is good, but the cakes are wonderful. they have a huge selection. there are great complex cakes with multiple flavors and textures, but don't underestimate the simple cakes. my roomate and i are avid bakers and we have yet to find or make better versions of the standard favorites - yellow cake with chocolate frosting, layers of all vanilla, and layers of all chocolate. the cake is moist and flavorful, and the icing is to die for. a great place to hang out no matter how old are young you are.

I have lunch here every now and then and it's like visiting a friends house who makes lunch for you. Everything is so fresh and wonderful. My son's birthday was this weekend and I ordered cookies with his face on them with a Happy Birthday wish. What a huge success! Every mom at the party was so impressed and asked where we got them. What a great idea! I would highly recommend this place!

4 Stars: Better than Sex and the City (by mshate)

After shamelessly watching way too many Sex and the City episodes, I decided I needed more indulgence of the fattening kind. What better place than a gallery of desserts..just what I needed. There is no menu for the desserts, which would be nice instead of gawking over the other customers shoulders for a peek, but I figured what the heck, means it has to be good! I fell in love instantly with the French Vanilla 3-tier Diner style (betty crocker eat your own heart out!) cake. I topped it off w/ chocolate dripped on top (not extra $). Coffee was a bit pricey, but the atmosphere was cozy and fun, not trendy and sterile. I recommend for a late night cheat...or spill over from House of Pies..if all you want is cake.
