Carpe Diem Private School

★★★★☆
Any preschool can help a child learn letters, numbers, or shapes. At Carpe Diem, we help children learn how to learn. Our curriculum emerges from the child's interest and through experiential learning. We encourage every child to ask "why?" and discover the answers for themselves. Our programs also include character-building activities that teach the importance of fairness, integrity, and honesty. This approach inspires our students to think more creatively and develop problem-solving abilities.

We loved Carpe Diem while our son was there (for 18 months) but didn't fully appreciate them until our son went to a 'big name' school. Carpe Diem's staff is much more caring, the student teacher ratio was much lower, the education program was much better, and we never got trouble from Carpe Diem like we got from the big named school.

We toured the facility and like the school including the many amenities and the low student teacher ratio.
The one problem though is their inflexibile fee structure as Harry mentions. We are only interested in 1/2 day program twice a week.
Does anyone have pointers on where to find a part time program? (Harry - where did you end up putting your child?!). We are not comfortable with anything that teaches a particular religion / sect and hence the many church mothers day out programs are out.

All 3 of our children have attended Carpe Diem. Staff is always friendly and willing to work with you. I like the fact that they are acredited and best of all it's FUN for the kids. Love all the activities that involve the parents and the kids.

CD has everything we ever wanted in child care from webcams, to a curriculum that fit our needs, to expert teachers that have years of experience. We have been so happy and impressed with the level of detail that is placed on everything. These guys are the experts. We can't imagine our child being anywhere else.

My friend introduced Carpe Diem Private Preschool to us several weeks ago. After visiting it, we thought it was a pretty good one and sent my baby here. I hope it will be better and better!
One thing to mention: My friend's child is in CD now and she feel happy about her son's progress although the price is a little high.
Some friends also have interest in Carpe Diem Priate School and are ready to have look at it. I hope they will feel good about it.
My baby will go to school at Carpe Dim Private School on August. I'll give my comments early next year for your information.

My husband and I absolutely love Carpe Diem. Both of our children attend (4 years old/1 year old). Four years ago we needed to desperately find another school for our son and my boss mentioned Carpe Diem. I called and scheduled an appointment and was able to tour the facility. During the tour, I didn??t know if the Director could tell, but I was almost in tears of joy. The school was well lit, the setup of the school is wonderful, and the teachers were actively engaged with each student. The Director explained the flow of the school and how students were developed ?? I felt like this was a TRUE development center for children. Everyone in the school knows every student by name, even the parents. This has become our extended family ?? ASK ANY FAMILY HERE!!!! That is the other thing that impresses me with the school. As working parents (1 hour away from my kid's school) I can't always attend everything the way I would like. The school takes pictures of my children during special moments throughout the year so I can include in their scrapbook so we will not miss out on those special moments. My mother and mother-in-law attended our son??s Pre-K graduation and they commented on how much they enjoyed the fun/interactive ceremony. They even mentioned that the investment my husband and I made four years ago to place our son in this dynamic program has definitely paid off and will assist my son in years to come. Even with my son moving on to the big school (as we call it), he will still attend Carpe Diem on holidays. Of course our daughter will be with the school for the remainder of her preschool years. WE LOVE THIS SCHOOL IF YOU CAN??T TELL :O).

We have been very happy with Carpe Diem. They provide excellent care, and I feel that my children are very happy there.
The teachers in the infant room are great. I feel that they really nurture and care about each child. And they provide fun activities for them, and the music teacher who comes each day is fabulous. My son reaches for his teachers when he sees them, and I know he feels safe and loved with them.
The older toddler classes are wonderful too. The curriculum is great, and I love that they offer Spanish and music. The teachers are wonderful and caring and have been there for years.
The facility itself is very clean and secure.
Overall, it's a great facility with wonderful teachers, and I would recommend it.

We have had a wonderful experience having our young son at CD. He started at CD when he was just 14 weeks old. He is now 13 months old and has blossomed under the care of his five teachers. They have gotten to know our baby and us incredibly well and are really partners with us in ensuring that he develops into a healthy and happy little guy. I am confident that as he progresses through the school, their curriculum will have him well prepared for his next academic steps. We absolutely love CD!

Our family has had an excellent experience at CD. My 13 month old son has attended CD since my husband and I returned to work when he was 14 weeks old. Choosing to have him attend CD made us at total and complete peace with our decision to both continue working after starting our family. He has had the same 5 teachers all year. They have lavished affection, attention and effort on each of the babies in his class. It has been fabulous to watch each baby blossom in their care. They also really seem to "get" the unique personalities of each baby in their care. I am also thrilled to see that although they respect each child's developmental timeline, that they are very watchful and encouraging to the children as the children work towards meeting new milestones.

In the time we have spent at the school, we have seen extremely low teacher turnover. We see teachers of varying ages who all seem to compliment one another very nicely. The older teachers/administrators seem to do a great job of mentoring the younger ones. The younger teachers are equally attuned to the babies.

I know deep in my heart that we made a great choice for our family. CD, its teachers and staff have been one of the big factors that have helped to make our transition into parenthood an overwhelmingly positive one. CD is worth every penny.

My son has been attending Carpe Diem since Oct, 2010, he is in the younger toddler room.
Over time he has grown to be a happy, fun loving and active toddler. He loves his teachers and greets them with a huge smile and a big hug every morning.
The teachers are awesome, they are the best. They do a lot of things to keep the little ones happy and occupied through the day.
They read books, teach them to sign, help the kids create beautiful art and sometimes just jump and dance with the little ones. They do all of this with smiles on their faces all the time. I trust them completely with my son.
The music teacher is amazing as well, she plays different musical instruments and sings to the kids. His days at CD are filled with fun, laughter, music and learning.
The administrators and staff are very friendly and warm. They make CD the special place that it is.
I am so glad I decided to send my son to CD, this is the best decision I ever made.

My boys have been attending Carpe Diem (CD) in Richardson since 2004. They started in the Toddler Room and graduated through their Pre-school program. The CD curriculum is stout and more than adequately prepared them for them to become successful in their current private elementary school. The teachers and administrators are educators with a genuine concern for the children not only teaching the basics but enhancing the learning process with music, cultural appreciation, and hands-on experiences. The small-class sizes allowed the educators to grow to understand each child individually which in turn led to more tailored teaching. CD fosters a partnership with the parents which ultimately for us, led to them becoming our second family (after all they were caring and teaching our most prized possessions!). We continue to entrust our boys?? summers to them as their Summer Camp program is filled with on-going weekly field trips to local museums, water-parks and attraction venues (i.e., Legoland, Ranger Games, etc.). The Murphree??s have done an outstanding job in building a top-notch preschool program and luckily for the rest of the DFW area, are expanding this greatness into other neighborhoods and families.

We <3 Carpe Diem. The staff is excellent. They are engaged, enthusiastic, and caring. We are first-time parents so we were looking for a pre-school that made us feel comfortable. In fact, all the parents of children in our class love Carpe Diem. We're so glad we found Carpe Diem!

like every parent, we searched high and low for a good day care. We read the reviews on Carpe Diem and decided to go with this place for our 20m child. But, after 2 months and not a great experience we asked ourselves the question - is this place really that good and worth it?

A couple of things:
- Teacher turn over is really high: In the 2m that our child was there, the class had almost 4 different teachers. They had to come in and learn and get to know the child
- The teachers are all 20 somethings: Agreed the school tries to hire college grads. They might have an education in child studies but truly have very little hands on experience.
- No personal warmth/touch: In 2m of my child being there, the teachers didn't take time to get to know her. This is even though the teacher student ration is low - there were 8kids to 2 teachers in her class. For them, it was about going through the motions for them (following the time table, serving food, putting them to sleep..etc) Also, noticed that the teachers being young have more interest in creating crafts rather than being with the kids
- The management is not hands on and doesn't get to know the children/parents: The director/manager has no energy and is too busy buying books but doesn't get to know the child or her parents. She got to know of our child only when we had something to tell her. When we told them we were leaving, no questions asked as to why and what the reasons were...
- The fee structure is not flexible. Whether you want to stay for 5 hours or the entire day, you pay the same. And they are one of the highest $ fees in the Dallas area.

We moved our child within 2months. Also noticed that the school has a high turn over in kids as well.

My daughters have both attended Carpe Diem for the past several years. I chose Carpe Diem because they provided high teacher to student ratios, and a curriculum that explores various learning methods. They study spanish and music each day, and have a variety of creative ways to teach beyond going through workbooks. The teachers are caring and attentive, and my kids have looked forward to going to school.

My older daughter went to kindergarten well prepared and we have found her to be ahead of other students her age. We feel the school treats us like family.

The school may be more expensive than some, but I felt our children were worth the investment, and the school, it's teachers and the teaching methods proved the cost to be well worth the benefits!

We love Carpe Diem! We have sent both of our boys to Care Diem from 18 months through pre-K as well as the summer camp program for school age children. This is our sixth year at the school and we have always been very happy with our experience. They offer a fun curriculum that includes specials (Spanish, music, art, computer) as well as gymnastics, dance and physical education offered from external vendors who come into the school once a week. The facility is safe and clean. The teachers are educated and caring. I have recommended the school to friends who have also sent their children. Good child care doesn't come cheap, but I feel every dollar that I have spent at Carpe Diem has been worth it...my children are safe, happy and having a great time learning!!

My husband and I could not be happier with our choice to send our son to Carpe Diem. We researched day cares thoroughly and determined that in the Plano, Richardson, North Dallas area there is no better day care facility. The low student to teacher ratio, fantastic staff (due to competitive benefits/pay), low teacher turnover, age-appropriate playgrounds (covered for the Texas sun!), facilities ( computer lab, indoor gym, library) the sign language curriculum for the infant and toddler rooms and the play based approach to learning were all huge draws for us. However once we made the decision to send our son there, what has really won us over is the way that he is thriving in this environment. He loves school and he loves his teachers! Our son is able to play and is nurtured in safe and fun environment that we could not have predicted possible from a ??daycare.? To us Carpe Diem is a school that really takes care of our son ?? we could not more enthusiastically recommend this school to those looking for a similar experience for their children. It truly is the best in Plano/Richardson/North Dallas and we feel happy to be a part of the family.

Pros: Wonderful Teachers/Staff, Great Environment for Kids, WebCam

Cons: closer to our house!

We have 2 children at Carpe Diem, one of which who is completing his final of 4 years there. Their attention to hiring quality teachers that interact well with students, as well as, parents is the key to their success. They recognize that a child's early development can vary child by child, and work to assure that parents are aware of their child's strengths/weaknesses. They provide guidance to parents on what they need to do to raise their child in a way that will work for the child and the parent. The school is also a great value, and we've felt that every dollar we have invested will pay off in larger dividends through the remainder of our childrens' development after preschool.

Carpe Diem is the name of the place where I send my children without any worries. I have a 4 year old son and a 5 months old daughter and I am very very satisfied with the school.
I like this school for numerous reason like:

Low children to teacher ratio
Valuing the child as an individual within the context of their family and community
Helps in recognizing the nature of children??s play as it affects learning in areas such as math, science, language, literacy etc
It acknowledges and supports children??s individual learning styles
Help children make meaning, and make sense of themselves and everything
Develop children??s abilities to observe, perceive, explore, investigate, imagine. and problem solve
Focus on daily routines such as eating, toileting, dressing, and resting as opportunities for learning and social development
Recognize the need for children to practice skills and consolidate their learning by providing opportunities for repetition of experiences and expression of their ideas
Provide an environment that stimulates the imagination, promotes creativity, and enhances aesthetic development throughout the day

The only drawback I find is that the school is very expensive. I made the decision to send my first child to this school thinking that if I do not find it worth then I'll move him to another school later but I was so much satisfied that I ended up enrolling my younger one also to this school.

Our son has been at Carpe Diem for the last 2 years and we are extremely happy with the care they provide. He comes home happy and there are days I have to drag him out of the school. The low student to teacher ratio and the additional classes of music, computers and Spanish, help us know, as parents, that he is not only learning and developing, but receiving some personal care. His teachers have always been great and make time to talk to us when we arrive and pick him up from school. We haven??t tried any other day care centers/preschools, but speaking with other parents who have, they all say Carpe Diem is the best.

Both of my children were enrolled in Carpe Diem Richardson when they were 3 months old. I am on my 6th year walking in that building every day and I could not be more pleased with the environment for my children. They have loving teachers and staff, a wonderful daily curriculum, great spanish and music class, computer time, and a wonderful dramatic play program. The focus is always on the development and well-being of the children. Yes, quality preschool can seem expensive, but I believe you get what you pay for at Carpe Diem. You are not paying for "fluff"!

Since my son started going to Carpe Diem (www.carpediempreschool.com), as a mom I feel a great relieved that I can watch him on the online webcams any time I want!. It really gives a peace of mind knowing that the school has nothing to hide.

We have just started sending our son to Carpe Diem. We were impressed that they created a special class for older infants/younger toddlers so they could accomodate the demographics entering the new school year. The webcam definitely helps alleviates some of the concerns we have with his transition to a new daycare and I think CD will be beneficial for his development, as they have many activities planned throughout each week of the year.

Carpe Diem has a friendly, caring staff that works hard to give attention to every child. They have degreed child care specialists on staff and require all staff members, both degreed and non-degreed, to participate in regular continuing education classes. The facility is clean and well maintained and the directors welcome communication with parents. They use age appropriate cirriculums and the facility has received national level accreditation.
