We have been absolutely pleased with the care of our baby at Stepping Stone (Hymeadow location) overall. Our little one is especially happy when he sees the director (Miss Lindsey) or his "up to 12-month" teacher Miss Cindy, and I know that??s because of their true love for him and care for his well-being. I don??t take that for granted, and am very thankful that they made it easy (relatively speaking) for me to leave my baby in their care and go off to work every day.

The only reason I rated 4 instead of 5 is due to a few growing pains when our baby moved up to the "over 12-month" classroom (his teacher quit, and it was rough going during the transition to a new permanent teacher). However; this did not hurt my overall impression of the school, and the new full-time teacher in that classroom is very caring - I can tell my little guy is really taking to her.

I would recommend Stepping Stone School (Hymeadow) to anyone.

Although I haven't experinced the issues listed below, I have 3 children here and would like to amplify the comment regarding Ms. Cynthia: she is their is their greatest asset. My kids experience has been very positive and the staff by and large is professional and caring. Management could be more stable, but my kids are happy and I have had no concerns about their safety.

I love the teacher that is in my child's particular after school classroom, Ms. Cynthia Stokely, but the other staff leave a lot to be desired. There are major problems on the bus when they are picked up, and the driver does not seem to know how to deal with it, nor do they know anything is going on more than half the time.
There have been 2 new directors' in the past year, and bookeeping is a mess. Furthermore, I was basically bullied into completing the poll when I walked in one day, by some man that I have never seen!! I left feeling very mixed messages about the school. IF it weren't for Ms. Cynthia, we would look for another place.

I would NEVER place another child in this school. My child is suffering from the way this school treated him. The therapist has gone on record by making the statement that my child is suffering form trauma brought about by the actions of his day car provider and staff.
The advertisement way out states what they really provide.
The only reason they are the 'Readers poll" winners is they bribe the parents with the possibility of a free week of daycare if they give them a good review.

I would highly recommend this and any Stepping Stone School for their children. This school has been rated highly year after year. Both our children have attended this school and I have only great things to say. Whenever I return back to work, they will only go to a Stepping Stone.

I enrolled my daughter in this daycare when she was about 1.5 years old. I had toured numerous daycares and what really drew me to this center was the staff, especially Lindsey (the director), Alicia (asst. director), Jesse (teacher in my daughter's room) and Camille (another teacher that helps with my daughter's age group). These women are absolutely AMAZING!!!

They were so welcoming and treated us like family from the first day. They are very personable and EXCELLENT with children. Lindsey and Alicia are both very active in helping the teachers when needed and extremely loving towards the children. You can see that they, as well as the teachers, all genuinely love the children in their center and treat them all as if they would treat their own.

The center is always clean and never smells like a dirty diaper, which is very nice. My daughter absolutely LOVES going to daycare and LOVES all of these ladies! If she's ever a little clingy to me in the mornings, she will go to any of these ladies, without hesitation and be happy. She is always in a good mood when I pick her up and blows kisses goodbye to her teacher.

It means the world to me to have such confidence in the people that are spending so much time with my daughter. I couldn't be happier with this daycare and wish I could relay in words how much these ladies mean to me. They are truly amazing, for the patience they have with our children and the endless love and nuturing that they offer to each and every child.

I have had my daughter enrolled at this center for several months and I could not be happier with my decision to enroll her here. The Director and Teachers are always friendly and willing to help with any questions I may have. She is always happy when I pick her up and never wants to leave! The facility is clean, organized, and is run very well. Thank y

Pros: Friendly and welcoming

Cons: Parking sometimes

Our daughter began daycare about five months ago at SSS VI and we could not be happier with the program. She bucks like a bronco when she sees her teachers each day (this is a good thing) and she comes home happy each day. The teachers are also a great resource when it comes to asking for advice. We need a lot of it because we are new parents and they are very patient with us. They do a lot of great artwork and we could not be happier with how entertained she seems. Knowing our daughter is being well taken care of is so valuable; it makes going back to work so much easier.

Pros: dedicated teachers, well-run program

We have both of our kids at this Stepping Stone. We went to several schools before selecting this one on Hymeadow and have found this to be the best all-around as far as reasonably priced, nurturing teachers, huge, shaded play areas outside, lots of creative activities, singing, sign language, learning. My kids are 14 months and 26 months old and it never ceases to amaze me how much they learn at school (they sign & count and sing and say please and thank you and learn new words :)). They LOVE their teachers, talk about their school friends and enjoy their time. It makes it easier for me to leave them to go to work knowing that they are so happy there.

Pros: caring, nurturing teachers, snacks & lunch, many activities

Cons: teacher turnover

★★★★★

My daughter started at stepping stone vi when she was 11 months old. She is now 3 and a half and loves her teachers and all of the staff. There has been some turnover in the time period since she started, but I feel that they have the best staff in place right now. When there is a change or issue, it is communicated very well to the parents which is really important. It is hard being away from my daughter, but I am comforted by the fact that she is in a nurturing family type environment where I truly believe everyone cares about her well being and development. I have recommended this school/location to friends and neighbors and will continue to do so. I have watched my daughter grow and develop socially and intellectually in this environment and appreciate the level of care she receives.

Pros: Environment, Curriculum, Staff, Service

When I was pregnant with my daughter, my husband and I toured many child care facilities, including several Stepping Stone locations. We instantly fell in love with this location. The Director at the time made the decision very easy. We feel how the Director acts reflects on the school as a whole. The school had a turn over and a new Director joined us this year. We love her even more than the first.

My daughter is 3.5 years old now. She started here when she was 12 weeks. From the beginning we felt like family with the staff. I trust the teachers and the admin. The casual atmosphere is one that promotes communication between staff and parents. When raising a young child who attends daycare, communication is the most important. As a mom I need to know how she is developing and reacting to the environments around her. My daughter loves the school and gets very excited to go to pre-k and see her friends. The best part is several of her classmates began around the same time she did. This is nice because she has friends that she knows and it speaks highly for the school as it shows other parents are as impressed with the school as we are.

I recommend Stepping Stone school to any parent. I highly recommend this location.

Both of our children attend Stepping Stone VI, and we are very satisfied with the school. They are very attentive and caring toward both of our children, and seem to be in tune with the needs and personalities of all the children who attend. Their preschool preparedness curriculum is excellent. Their training program and protocol for the teachers is very organized and constantly reviewed and improved. Our experience with Stepping Stone VI has been only positive. We highly recommend the school to other friends and family members with children.

When we moved back to Austin first, I visited another Stepping Stone School (the one at Parmer) which I hated. At that location, director did not greet us. They acted as if they were the best and needed no additional kids. I am so happy that that day, they told us they had no openings and we could take our daughter to the one at Hymeadow until the one at Parmer had an opening. My daughter was 11 months old then and started going to SSS VI. They have the best staff I have ever seen. My daughters name is a unique name and it is not easy to remember. It amazed me a lot to see that even the care givers of the other classes learned her name in couple months and they were greeting her with her name everytime they saw her. My daughter loves her teacher. I think her teacher is one of the best teachers. Director is a really nice and proffessional person. Director assistant is really friendly. I am so happy that my daughter is going to that daycare because I can see that in her mind that place is like a home to her. Couple weeks ago we went to south for a week for vacation, and when we came back, my daughter was talking about her teacher, her firends and director assistant. She was telling me how much she missed them. I am especially so happy with the cirriculum they have. She is doing so many art works. They have so many activities and it is getting difficult for me to keep her entertained during week-ends. I know during the day they are doing so many things that it gets boring for her not to do any arts or sing a song during the week-ends. I feel so lucky to meet all the staff that works at SSS VI and am so happy that they are like a family. For me, as a working mom, knowing that my kid is secure, happy and is being taken good care of are the most important thing. An at SSS IV, I know she gets all of them. I suggest to all the parents looking for a daycare to make a visit to that place. You guys will know what I mean as soon as you go in. :)

Pros: Weekly newsletter provided by the teachers telling what they will do coming week and all the highlights of the week

We've had our children at two Stepping Stone Schools and I have to say it's a great place. We did countless tours of other facilities around Austin, I can honestly say we made the right choice. I can tell how connected our kids are to the teachers by the way the tell us about their day. I like feeling a connection with teachers, as well. It's a friendly vibe, when I got to pick up the kids. I get a daily chart telling me what their day was like. When I've had issues, I discussed them with the Director and I felt I was part of the solution rather than the problem. The assistant director has also been very helpful with our kids.

★☆☆☆☆

this is stepping stone's training school, that is funny considering the lack of professionalism of the director and staff. would hear staff say negative things about my child, staff would ignore my child since she didn't like her, would leave my child & others unsupervised to draw on themselves & each other, childs new teacher didn't even think it unusual for my youngest to poor milk out or on clothes for an entire week before asking me to bring a sippy cup. when asked procedure for leaving the director would not tell me the process nor length of notice until i told her why we were leaving, the decision had already been made to leave so why did it matter? would not recommend this center, they have a high turn over and staff often have a very poor attitude about being there.

Pros: lunch & snacks provided, but not always drinks (see comment above)

Cons: unprofessional & lack of attention paid to children
