Was in last week. Sam Governale and his crew treated us like William & Kate. I was amazed at how Sam was all over the place at one time. He didn't miss a thing and made sure his customers were being attended to. Everything was perfect. The steaks were fantastics, service was friendly, courtious, consistent, and knowledgable of the wine lists and the menu. This is our favorite place and we recommend that you sould come and enjoy the evening. A drink or two at the bar and then a great dining experience. Sam, You Rock!!

I have been to Fleming's twice now; both visits have been wonderful. I've had their ribeye on one occasion, and a selection of seafood on a 2nd occasion. Both meals and service were excellent. They also make really great Martinis and have a very substantial wine list which is reasonably priced. The atmosphere is upscale, and all the staff we encountered were very pleasant and professional, including the valet parking attendants. (But you can park your car yourself, if you choose.) Flemings is on Alabama St., just about 3 blocks closer to the center of town from Pesce Restaurant, or about 5 blocks from Kirby and Alabama. We also attended Fleming's with my whole family on Valentine's weekend, and everything was beautifully composed and excellent.

My husband and I rarely go to steakhouses, but every now and then is OK. Usually we visit Sullivans (very good) and Capital Grille (also good); this time we thought we'd try Flemings. While the service staff is very attentive (earning the two stars), the food was surprisingly lackluster. We started with the calamari, which was quite good. But the wedge salad was pretty tasteless, the steaks, so-so, and the green beans didn't even taste like beans--and not in a good way. The au-gratin potatos were good, but throw enough cream, butter and cheese on anything and it should be good. Maybe we've been spoiled by other great restaurants in Houston or we caught them on a bad night, but we likely won't be eating at Flemings again.

Visited Fleming's for the first time Saturday night. We were a little early for our 6:30 table and were seated immediately. Our server was excellent (Larry, maybe?): never pushy and always well-timed.

I don't care if it's a chain...the food is always off-the-hook. The sides are almost as good as their steak-- mac and cheese, creamed spinach, asparagus, mushrooms, etc.

These guys have no idea how to fix a tasty steak. I've been twice. The first visit, they danced around medium rare until I lost patience and ate the third steak they brought (which was rare). The second visit, I was with a group and couldn't complain. But the steak was awful -- flavorless and dry or fat and flavorless. And there shouldn't be so much fat on a filet. I couldn't cut through some of it, and I gave up eating with about half on my plate. The server seemed to pause as he picked it up but didn't ask what was wrong (although, to his credit, he did follow up shortly after the food was brought).

This was my first dining experience at Fleming's. It was my son's 33rd birthday. There were 10 of us in our party. We were seated at a round top that comfortably accomodated all of us altho we had to reach or request someone to pass the salt, sugar, etc., as there was only 1 set-up at the table.. The decor was lovely, it was very clean, linens and table settings elegant. Our server was professional and eager to please. It would have been nice if A) we could have heard/understood what he was saying over the noise, B) we could have heard each OTHER (even the person sitting next to us) over the noise, C) there was more than 3 fingers separating us from the person at the next table, and D) THE NOISE!!! Waitstaff needed a megaphone to be heard or should have circumvented the table repeating the ""specials"" to each of us because no one could hear what he was saying! The food was very good (I had the seared scallops with a side of mac 'n cheese), but all-in-all I paid $28.95 for 8 scallops and what was supposed to be a puff of vegetables (I recognized the puff but couldnt' find the veggies even though I looked very hard!) and a couple of slices of a small bread loaf. We shared our sides all around, which was a good thing so that we all could have something to go with our entree. Others' portions were adequate (most ordered steaks). Might I suggest that, for the prices being charged, each entree should come with at least a dinner salad, THEN charge extra for the other sides. The provided a lovely ""sampler"" of desserts for the ""birthday boy"" which was very nice. I personally felt somewhat rushed - it took a while for our food to come, which was fine (our reservation was for 8:30PM) but once our food came, it was almost over before it began. The back-up wait staff was excellent and I believe other than taking our initial orders, they did all the work and the server got the kudos (and the gratuity, altho I realize the tips are probably shared at the end of the day). Our dinner came to $425.00 before gratiuity. For that kind of money, and with all the other reviews I've read, I hope they seriously consider adding some kind of sound insulation before I consider going back for seconds.

Cons: Noise, Noise, Noise & Prices

PLANNING: My girlfriend and I made a spur of the moment decision to go--reservations are easily made online. If your time is not available, you can select another. We were able to get our second or third choice on a table for two on a Friday night less than 2 hours before we ate.

I been going here for the last 6-7 yrs, bout 10 time a yrs. The bone in ribeye is the best, 2 ppl can eat it, all the side order are very good. The staff are the best, very quick and pay alot of attention. I just love this place. If you go , make sure you try the lava cake, with extra ice cream and berries. You have to order this cake in advance, it take 20 to 30 min to bake.

We visit Flemings every 5-6 weeks always have wonderful experience. Their entrees are extremely well done and the sides are great, so in general you can't go wrong with any selections (qualifying that, I've never tried their seafood entrees). The relish tray served upon arrival is very nice touch and gives you an opportunity to have a cocktail and munch before you order. The iceberg wedge is my favorite salad, but if you have the opportunity for their Clam Chowder, you should pass it up. Nice broth, not ""gravy like"", few small pieces of potato, and lots of claims with out overbearing spices. The currently Prix Fixe menu has a roasted Cabernet braised New Zealand Lamb Shank pan jus with cannellini beans on the Winter Prix Fixe menu that is outstanding. The Prix Fixe menus are great value and always some different and delightful. However, I do have a few complaints: 1. PARKING, Flemings is one of those who prefer to reserve the ""close to the door"" parking spots for their Valet (shared with The Tasting Room). Given the limited number of spaces in the small strip center, those who'd rather park their own car (for many reasons) are forced to park on the street and walk quite a distance. I'm not opposed to walking at the proper time, but that?s not when going to a nice diner at an upscale restaurant. 2. WINE LIST, Their wine list is overpriced not only considering the label, but considering other restaurants. They need to ""adjust"" their wine prices to meet the times and the competition. 3. NOISE LEVEL, When the restaurant fills up, and it usually does, the noise level is too high for a restaurant of this caliber. Just three flaws that need to be worked out. I hope you can do it Flemings!!!

My wife and I enjoy frequenting steakhouses, and after trying many of the ""top"" steakhouses in Houston, we believe that Fleming's is the best all-around choice. That keeps us going back time and time again. The decor is modern, and the clientele ranges from big business dinners to romantic nights for two, with everything in between. That being said, there is somewhat of a neighborhood feel to the place, which is strange considering that it is a national chain. The salads are serviceable, and the by-the-glass wine list is extensive relative to other places (it's good for us since I like reds and my wife likes whites). The steaks and sides shine. When we call ahead for reservations, we reserve bone-in fillets for our entrees. Though more expensive ($43), the quality of the bone-in filets is superior to the already excellent standard filet cuts. All steaks are seasoned well and have a flavorful crust. The Fleming's potatoes are outstanding, and the mac and cheese is distinctive. One important note: unlike many of the other steakhouses in Houston (esp those downtown), we have yet to see a Fleming?s patron wearing shorts or baseball hats ? it is quite refreshing to see patrons dressed in a way that is commensurate with the type of restaurant at which they are eating. Though we will try other places for a change of pace or for an adventure, we can always rely on Fleming's for a great experience. We concur with the audience?s vote for best in town.

With all the stuffy, over priced steakhouses in the city no wonder Fleming's won the best of Houston best steak & wine list by citysearch. On last Friday my wife and I ate dinner at Fleming?s, from the moment the valet & the hostess welcomed us; to the friendly bartenders and servers, the service was second to none, we had one of the most wonderful dining experiences that we have had in a long time, and Talk about great food!! My wife had the ahi tuna appetizer which was very good and the chef?s fish special of redfish topped with big lumps of crab meat with an awesome lemon butter sauce, I went for the bone in ribeye, Man was that amazing!! The Mac & cheese was so good I ordered an extra order to take home! I was told by the manager that everything from the bread they bake every morning to the salad dressings and desserts; all made in house, even the chef's cut their steaks on premises, I could tell, my bone in ribeye was thick and juicy. Wine service was great too, with one hundred wines by the glass we had no problems finding some great wine. The wine list was user friendly and the server was very approachable when we had questions about wine and he was not stuck up or rude like we have seen waiters act in other fine restaurants. I needed no tie or jacket, and it was great to leave the office on a casual Friday and not be under dressed when going out to dinner! I had a great port with probably the best dessert my wife and I have ever had THE CHOCOLATE LAVA CAKE!!!! My wife had a glass champagne with her peach cobbler, the place was packed so I?m sure I?m not the only one who loves this place, I stopped in again yesterday and on a Monday night it was just as packed. I had onion rings that were stacked 10 high and lobster tempura that was fantastic. I am sure to return again, not only on special occasions but on a regular basis.

I am not a hugh steak person but have been to many steakhouses that have great grilled tuna steak. I go out to eat often and I have had grilled tuna at many restaurants so please trust me when I tell you that this was the WORST grilled tuna steak I have ever had. Dinner started with the Caesar Salad. It was okay, certainly edible, but nothing to rave about because it was covered with dressing that was not very good. I guess I thought since this was a nice restaurant, it would be more like homemade classic caesar dressing. This dressing tasted like it was bottled or like something they would serve you at a place like Applebee's. Then the tuna steak came. I took two small bites and could not eat another bite. It was seared rare, how I always order it and how it was suggested. Unfortunately it was to thick to be seared. It is very rare that I have to use a knife when eating tuna steak, particularly a big steak knife. I find good grilled tuna brakes apart easily with a fork. Well not here at Flemings, their tuna required the big steak knife to saw through that big hunk of fish. The taste of it was not good either. It was cold and had no flavor.

My wife and I went to Flemings for Valentines Dinner. We have always enjoyed Flemings and the service has always been spot on. For Valentines we ordered the lobster pastry special for 2 ($98). Unfortunately it was soggy and bland. The wine and service were great but I guess we shouldn't have ordered the special.

We tried Fleming's based upon some of the reviews I had read on here. Our experience was absolutely wonderful. It was the first time we had dined here, but everyone from the front desk hostess to the Manager, treated us like we were part of their family. As soon as you are seated at your table, your are greeted by your waiter delivering an assortment of breads accompanied by both a chutney sauce and a sweet, creamy butter. Our waiter also gave us a brief tour of the wine menu, as well as a verbal reciting of the nightly specials, upon handing us the menus.

In any other city, this may be the best steakhouse in town. Unfortunately, in a city with a steakhouse on every block, this one is decent but not spectacular. When it first opened it was the best, but now after the influx of new ones downtown, this place is left in the dust. Still a good place if you don't feel like going anywhere too expensive or fancy, it offers good steak at good prices.

We went to Flemings for our anniversary. Our service was great! The waitress was very knowledgable of the menu and winelist (and they have quite a selection). We have the carpaccio and it was amazing. The steak was grilled to perfection. We ordered the Chocolate Lava Cake for dessert and it was delicious. The waitress even comped us a creme brulee for our anniversary.

Pros: Romantic, great food and service

.

My filet was divine. It melted perfectly in my mouth. The sides were delicious as well. I recommend all sides. I don't care much for the atmosphere (it is a little noisy), but I like the fact that it is not super stuffy like most steakhouses. I highly recommend it for good food.

I love Flemmings and I dont think I will stop. The cream corn is the best, the steaks are always perfect, and the atmosphere is great. I have sat at the bar on a sunday night in shorts and a t-shirt, and gone there in a suit during the week, and either way the staff is as friendly as can be. What a treat in such a great location.

My wife and I experienced Flemings on a Thursday night. We had 8pm reservations through OpenTable and were seated very promptly. Our server was at our table immediately and was pleasant and helpful. We had lobster tempura to start - excellent. I had the cajun, bone-in strip that was outstanding. My wife had her standard filet which she loved. But the highlight of the evening was the molton chocholate cake....unbelievable.

Went to Flemings on a whim; happened to be on a Sunday. They offer a Sunday dinner pre-fixe that includes salad, 10 oz prime rib, any side, and any dessert. My husband ordered the filet and we decided to share the salad, side and dessert. These were full portions, and not reduced for the pre-fixe; definitely large enough to share. (I saw a family of 4 where 2 people ordered the dinner, and the other 2 ordered 2 entrees. They too shared the salads, sides, and desserts) The service was impeccable, food was prepared perfectly, and decor & atmosphere very upcale, but cozy. Overall, we loved our experience and will definitely go back!

Super staff, steaks, seafood, salads and sides. Desserts are great too. Extensive wine list, yet pricey.

I went to Fleming's the other night for the first time. I was thoroughly pleased with my dinner. I went with my wife on a Sunday and there was a special Prime Rib prix fix meal w/salad, prime rib, side and dessert for her. I just had a filet and a side and we split her salad and dessert. There was more than enough for us both, and we were HUNGRY! We didn't have any wine that night, but the list looked impressive and I noticed they decant the wine - a nice touch. Overall, the food and service were excellent. Will definitely be going back and can recommend it.

FLEMINGS. Our family of 5 went to Fleming to celebrate 3 birthdays

Wrong starter was brought
Caesar salad dressing was weak and on the bottom of the salad.
Chilean Sea Bass was warm with cold congealed sauce and cold shrimp
The Broccoli was a head of broccoli
Asparagus were served with not the sauce we asked for but another one.
Dessert was not the one we ordered but another 3 that the waiter presented and ran off.
Potatoes and steaks were ok.
The restaurant was loud and service poor.
The bill was presented quickly and the knives were sharp

Flemings has a lot going for it. Fantastic atmosphere, excellent staff, great wine list (with tons by the glass!). However for the price, I find the steak a little disappointing. My girlfriend's tenderloin was a little dry and her lamb was a little under cooked (mixed grill). My ribeye was good, but I've had better quality ribeyes for less. One appetizer + two entrees + one side + one dessert + four adult beverages = $170.00. There are better dinners available in Houston.

My favorite steak place in Houston. Steaks are always cooked exactly how we ordered them. Seared perfectly on the outside, and juicy and tender as well. The fleming potatos are an awesome side dish. Attentive service, a great wine list where anybody can find a good bottle in their price range, and good desserts to top it off.

We have dined at the West Alabama location twice within the last 6 months and looking forward to our next visit in July...excellent filets...cooked to perfection...wine list is impressive and not any more pricey than competitors....the chocolate souffe-like desert is a must-have, don't share, order one all for yourself!...service is top-notch

I only vote in categories where I've sampled food from all the contenders. I know steakhouses and Fleming's is a STEAKHOUSE. The steaks are well prepared, the sides are typical fare, but with flair. Service is very good, and the ambiance is pleasant. Other high end houses are close, but Fleming's is the best overall.

It is our 3 year anniversary and we receive a tip from a friend that Fleming's is a wonderful place to have a romantic dinner. They were right! From the moment we walked in the door, we were warmly greeted and seated. Excellent wine list! Excellent Food! Excellent Service! I will definitely go back!

We thought that the steaks here surpassed those at Brenner's-- even though we love Brenner's, and will definitely continue to be its patrons. We couldn't stop eating the tenderloin carpaccio appetizer; it set a new standard in my book. The entrees were wonderful. My husband's steak (the 16 oz ribeye) was tender and juicy and perfectly cooked. My seabass was topped with loads of lump crabmeat, and it was perfectly cooked. We loved the sides we ordered, but they were so huge that we could barely make a dent in them (although Sullivan's has them beat on mushrooms). Finally, my husband ordered their ChocoLava cake, and he raved about it.

The wine list is fantastic!! I loved the loud, fun atmosphere. This is one good steakhouse that isn't stodgy. If you want sedate, well-dressed people, go to Morton's or Brenner's, but Fleming's is all about good food and fun.

The filets are excellent; the side-dishes are adequate; the desserts are very good; the wine list is extensive and well-priced; the service is attentive and friendly. In short, all the makings of a good meal are here. However, during our recent weeknight dinner at Fleming's, the restaurant was jam-packed with loud, noisy, under-dressed, obnoxious patrons. Half-way through our dinner in this frat-house atmosphere, our table of 6 just gave up on efforts to converse, because we would have had to scream to be heard over the roar coming from neighboring tables. I like festive restaurants, but Fleming's architecture (low ceilings, paneled walls, tables close together) only exacerbates the noise level, and the lack of any dress code whatsoever means that this is not the best place for a special occasion or quiet business dinner.

We have tried them all and this one is our favorite overall. Quiet without being stuffy. We were able to get a table early one evening with our 15 year old coming along. It is not cheap but when the steak is this good you feel you got your money's worth.

I visited Fleming's on New Year's Eve and recently, the night of my proposal. Our waiter was prompt and courteous, knowledgable without being snooty, and very pleasant. My fiance and I both ordered a featured special - petit filet with broiled shrimp on top. The shrimp were SUPER spicy, which I don't like, and our waiter replaced them quickly. While my plate was backin the kitchen, a manager-type passed by to check that everything was OK. He also stopped later on to follow up. The prices are HIGH, but it's a special-occasion type of place. Enjoy!!!

This is a fine steak place. The service was good and the steak was excellent. Right up there with Pappa's and Capital Grille.

My significant other and I had an unparalleled dining experience here, for the city of Houston. Fleming's does customer service better than anybody in town--their computerized hosting system tracks problems/successes on an individual client basis. The food is delicious and very well done, and the wine list is excellent. They have obviously spent a lot of time and money on the facility, the processes, and the staff--the host and serving staff are first rate. It's the new hot place in town to be seen in and dine at though, so that means that tables are hard to get--Reservations aren't required, but it's unlikely that you'll get a table without one, these days.
