Message from West End Pub

Located in Dallas' Historic West End, the West End Pub, formerly known as the neighborhood pub without a neighborhood, has been a Dallas tradition for 20 years. The New York Style pub has a fantastic view of the Downtown Dallas skyline and a relaxed friendly atmosphere making the Pub "the" place to meet friends after work, start a night out, enjoy an after dinner drink with great live local music on Friday and Saturday nights, or just grab a bite to eat and watch a game. The West End Pub boasts an extensive selection of single malt scotches and imported cigars, excellent for after dinner relaxing or celebrating the big deal being signed. It is the only legal smoke-friendly pub in the West End. They welcome business travelers and tourists like regulars. Stop in to the West End Pub and you'll quickly make a friend or two.

In Short
Dwarfed by the brick canyon of the southern tip of West End, the pub door opens onto a photo-lined foyer. The dark wooden floor, honey-oak bar, etched glass and comfortable chairs convey authenticity while the bartender greets newcomers as warmly as he does the most welcome regular. Meat for sandwiches is sliced fresh daily for popular sandwiches like house-specialty chicken salad, French dip roast beef and the pub stack (corned beef, sauerkraut and Swiss cheese).

Key Points

  • FREE Happy Hour Buffet M - F
  • Daily Lunch Special $4.95
  • FREE Wi-Fi; 6 HD TV Screens

The Inside Scoop

  1. What to Drink - Besides a collection of 17 single-malt scotches, the bartender serves the West End Punch, a blend of rums, fresh juices, lemonade and melon liqueur.
  2. When to Go - Weekday happy hour is 4pm-7pm. Out late? Go around 11pm--the pub is only one of three West End sites that stays open late.

West End - dead. West End Pub - thriving

by Veronica L. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 842

Although the West End is dead, the West End Pub is not. You can attribute that to the faithful long-time regulars, which the West End was never about. Be it from a block or a city, the regulars still meet there, be it for an after work happy hour, a group social for the DUSK (Dallas Urban Skaters)

nice attractive bar

by robinedghill

the bar was nicely located. The sandwiches were microwaved and not at all appealing. There was not enough meat to fill the large bread. I was disappointed that it was rated the best sandwich in dallas 2008. It may have won since this is the only restaurant in dallas where smoking is allowed. go there for the bar and not the food.

What a blast!

by Bettieo

I live Downtown and have MANY choices on places to go and we choose the West End Pub. We choose it because everybody REALLY does know your name, there hasn't been a time when we have gone in that the owner or waitress hasn't come up as soon as we walk in and say hi. It's like being a movie star :) I love going to a place that takes such pride in customer service. They have a fantastic happy hour and the drinks are not only a great price, but a great drink if you know what I mean. My boyfriend is a margarita pro and I am pleased to say that he chooses the west End Pub over the MANY mexican restaurant choices we have for a margarita in Downtown. They also have a FREE buffett for happy hour with food that we BOTH like. I really have NOTHING bad to say about this place. Try the couch by the window if there is a open seat, it's also a great place to people watch. They have a HUGE seating area that you don't see in this picture so go with 20 of your best friends, they can accomodate you in a heartbeat! Yeah West end pub! We LOVE YOU GUYS!

Pros: THE BEST Place in Downtown AND the West end!

Cons: none! not a one!

Friendliest Bar and Best Margarita's and Martini's

by pubcrawler75202

The West End Pub is my favorite bar to hang out in after work. I felt this way the first time I went to the pub, right after I moved to Dallas. I went in not knowing anyone and soon found out the people at the Pub don't let you be alone for long. The bartender and the "regulars" at the bar include everyone at the bar in their conversations and make it point to learn your name, where your from and when you will back (the bartenders even remember what you drink). It is just that friendly. On top of being friendly, their margaritas and martini's are the best. The bartender says the margarita's are made from scratch, no premade mix here. They even fresh squeeze the lime juice. Then there are the martini's...they are huge and in a glass that is always cold. Try the PUBTINI...it's one of my favorites. If you have a group of people just wanting to kick back, they have "living rooms" with big. comfy leather couches and chairs. Its a great place to meet up with your friends and hang out.

Pros: Drink sizes are big; People and staff are very friendly; Comfortable and Unpretentious

Cons: Can get loud at times

Everyone's bar

by dadukes

I stumbled across this establishment years ago and immediately enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere. As a scotch drinker, I found the selection to be impressive and the staff very knowledgeable (I wonder how they got so experienced?). But, the great thing about this pub is that's only one of its features. Whether your a sports fan (free shuttle to the Stars/Mavs games at the AAC) or a music fan (same free shuttle for music and other shows) and live music of a great variety on weekends; a smoker (imported cigar selections) or a non-smoker (electrostatic smoke control devices throughout the Pub); or just like a comfortable atmosphere for eating (the Pub fare is simple but well-prepared), reading, visiting, or lounging (great! leather sofas and chairs in "the living room"), this place seems to fit the bill. Go! Enjoy!

Pros: Great Scotches

Cons: It can get loud

My favorite downtown spot for years.

by rickyost

This is the best pub in Dallas.
Great atmosphere, great food, a competent and friendly wait-staff, and they pour a quality drink for a fair price.
Whether you're dropping by at happy hour for a beer and a sandwich, or taking in the evening entertainment on the weekends, it is a comfortable place to hang out. It is a must see for visitors to
Dallas, and a great place to become a regular.

Great Neighborhood Bar

by Ziggy12togo

This is a very friendly neighborhood bar. I started going for the games (Both Stars and Mavericks) because they have a great shuttle bus to the games. The shuttle also goes to concerts at the American Airlines Center. They have great drinks, a friendly crowd and a nice happy hour buffet. The staff is friendly helpful and entertaining. I have made a great many friends at the West End Pub. It also as a great view of downtown Dallas out of its large windows.

Pros: Great drinks, great shuttle to the games, friendly patrons and staff

Cons: Smoking bar (but not too smoky)

Great Neighborhood Pub!

by BoDukes

We have been going to the Pub for a long time...fifteen years! We keep coming back because the staff is fast, fun and funny. We always meet interesting people and love to pass the time making new friends. The "regulars" are engaging, too. The Pub has single malts and cigars. Great combination! When we go to an event at the AAC, we always use the Pub's free shuttle. So easy to get there and back. Great perk!

Friendliest Pub in North Texas, Possibly the World

by meganmcgehee

Been going to this wonderful pub since 1991. It is the 'Cheers' of Dallas. You are greeted and treated like a regular from day one. Interesting characters working and 'attending' this pub daily. Its the kind of place that you can meet friends for life. Great local music!!!! Scotch, Cigars, Great-Food, and Clean Clean Restrooms (personal pet-peeve).

Pros: Everything is a Pro

Cons: Can't think of any

Everything you could want in a pub this side of the pond!

by Anitandy

We were introduced to "THE PUB" by friends and we're glad they did. Though we don't make the trek downtown as often as we'd like, we're always welcomed like long-lost friends. It's location in the heart of the historic West End makes it the perfect meeting place before a game or cultural event or for just relaxing with friends.
NOT a tourist trap!

Comfortable, friendly downtown pub

by MAW2008

The WEP is an ideal place to meet and relax with friends. The staff is friendly, service is efficient, food is excellent "pub" fare, and the bar is well-stocked with selections at every price point. Overstuffed sofas are a great spot to spend a few hours. The comfortable, laid-back vibe is unique in Dallas.

Good People

by glenrothes

Easily the best single malt bar in town. Wait staff is friendly and remembers their customers. The regulars help first timers feel at home. Food is good, especially the chicken salad and home made soups. (Try the baked potato soup and the cheezy potato.) Wi-fi is a bonus. The Pub is a bunch of good people (regulars and staff).

Fun Fun Fun! The Best place for all!

by wendyyork

Make your own bloody mary bar Sundays! Whoo hoo! I actually first came here during the week and was pleasantly surprised that on that day they had FREE Pizza , nachos and a cheese tray out for Happy Hour. The drink Special is what brought us in ( we had $3.00 margaritas!) And the drink was top notch and tasty. No machine cheapie margaritas here. This is a REAL Pub with HUGE 14 foot windows on a corner lot, LOTS of Tables , 4 couches and a really long old mahogany bar that could seat 20 across. Yu really have to experience this pub for your self. They have Live Bands on weekends and a Super bowl Party this weekend that is hosting a appetizer contest and all proceeds go to charity. Oh, did I mention they have a bloody mary bar on Sundays? ( big smile) go now!!!!!! .

Pros: Everything! You really have to goto appreciate this historic pub.

Cons: By the way it's a smoking bar, but if you don't smoke, it's big enough not to bother you so smoke em if ya got them

by jrleedom

Plenty of parking around the West End Pub. Great place to meet before Stars and Maverick games. Free Shuttle bus to and from the games, "The bus is here" chant from the patrons as you finish your beverage and leave for the game. Free buffet before the game. My favorite place to warm up before game night.

Pros: Great Shuttle, Free Buffet, Smoker Friendly

Cons: Crowded on Fridays, Juke box can be loud, Smoker Friendly
