I have been to optometrists all over the Austin area & have been misdiagnosed with dry eyes, a stigmatism, near sightedness, far sightedness, & every other ailment under the moon. I used my husband as a guinea pig & sent him to Dr. Schottman. She was amazing & even fixed the prescription that he was previously given (trifocals) to a single lens that actually helps his vision. He has spent the last year seeing everything in front of him clearly, without headaches or eye strain.

Knowing that Dr. Schottman was able to help him, I decided to schedule and appointment with her as well. At first, I saw another optometrist from Stars in Your Eyes & was not totally happy because I felt like she was not listening to my description & just gave me a prescription to ?fix what she could.? This Dr was great, but I need a little extra TLC since I have a fear of poor eyesight & blindness due to my medical history.

I rescheduled & saw Dr. Schottman, she was able to confirm that her other doctor was right on but just needed to explain my eye problems a little more clearly. Less than 30 minutes later & with a slight revision in prescriptive lens (not the prescription itself) I felt confident & was excited that I could actually see without halos & blurry vision. 6 months later, I must say I am grateful for my "new vision" & the way I was taken care of. I will NEVER go to anyone else.

Dr. Schottman has knowledge that surpasses the typical optometrist. She knows about specialty care, can tell you what your symptoms are before you even open your mouth & is 99.9% correct. I have tendency to be a skeptic about optometrists... because of all the incorrect diagnosis?s I have received over the past 10 years? but the Rosedale location is the real deal. They are trendy resource for eyewear, never sacrifice quality, use the latest technology, and really know what they do can make a difference. They have made a difference in my life, my vision, and my family's vision!!!

I've been a client of Stars in Your Eyes for a couple of years now, and have always been pleased with every visit, but my last experience blew me away.

It was a Saturday, and that morning I had dropped one of my last contact lenses down the drain like an idiot. I was completely bummed-out because that evening I was having a house warming party and my glasses aren't completely flattering. So that morning I went to work, and called repeatedly to the downtown location. Half way through the day after calling dozens of times, I'd lost hope when I remembered that they'd opened another location in Rosedale. I called and Michael answered the phone. RELIEF!

After talking with Michael, we realized that all of my prescription information was downtown (which was closed this particular Saturday.) Back to square one, no contacts for a night that was so important. Fifteen minutes or so later, Michael called me back and offered to drive to the downtown location, get my prescription, and offered me a trail pair of contacts (I had to purchase my prescription of course, but at this point I was more than willing.)

One more road block - I didn't have time to go get them! I was having lunch with some out of town family.

So in the end, Michael ended up driving downtown, getting me a pair of contacts, and DELIVERING them to my downtown office so I could pick them up later that evening before my party.

Now, I'm not advertising that they now offer delivery or anything (for the record, they don't) but if you need eye care professionals in your life that understand...well...life, these guys should be in yours.

I went to Stars In Your Eyes after a couple of less-than-satisfying visits to 'big box' vision centers, you know the ones with the coupons in the Sunday paper. These folks treat you like your vision and style matter. Dr Wright was so easygoing and mellow, but incredibly thorough; he found that the glasses I'd been wearing for over a year were actually made a bit too strong for my eyes. They have cool styles and great folks on hand to help you make the best match.

Once again, I have to say how much I appreciate the level of service I received from Stars In Your Eyes. I can't say enough. I stopped in during a recent business trip to Austin and Michael went out of his way to help me pick out some great new frames.Michael also did a great job following up with me after my visit. He called me and told me he had sent my glasses along and how they were sent. They have arrived and I love them. Thanks so much for making this such a friendly and easy way for me to get my glasses, even from Minnesota!

I enjoyed meeting with all of you on Friday. I was at ease and have never been more comfortable at a first-time doctor's visit. It has been a while since I had to go through any kind of vision screening, so you can imagine how nervous I was. Each and everyone from the staff who worked with me, explained that was going on, and what the testing would show. I was very pleased...Oh yeah, and thanks for the help in picking out my frames...I could not have done it without you. I will definitely tell everyone at work, and out of work about your office. Thanks again. Smile at someone and make their day!

Just wanted to thank John at Stars in Your Eyes. Optom He was such a great help. This week I brought in my glasses and they were missing the little pad thing on the nosepiece. John was such a hero?he found a pad that fit my glasses. Then he did not even charge me. Wow! That was wonderful. I had been to another ?southwestern-ish optical mart? and they were no help. They would not work on my glasses because I did not buy them there. So I was very relieved when John was such a problem solver. Thank you for your exceptional customer service!

You just don't find this kind of great personal service from doctors anymore! Dr. Schottman has always listened to my individual concerns to find a solution that works best for me. At Stars in Your Eyes I have never had to wait beyond my appointment time, my exams have been thorough and explained completely, and my service has been fabulous. They were very helpful when picking out frames, and gave me plenty of choices while not rushing at all. I was able to take my time and find a pair that worked well for me. I couldn't have asked for more!

I recently started going to Stars in Your Eyes, and I was super impressed. The doctor actually listened to my concerns about my contacts, and worked with me to find comfortable ones. The staff also helped my pick out flattering glasses that I just love. I appreciated the personal service, and I did not feel like I was being shuffled in and out - like I have felt at other places. I would highly recommend Stars in Your Eyes!

I have referred several people to Stars in Your Eyes for the optical/optometric needs. The office is beautiful and has the best selection of eyeglass frames that you'll find at very reasonable prices. I don't mind paying a little more for quality and great customer service and you will definitely feel like you achieved both here. Top notch place!

I have worn glasses and contacts for the last 30 years and have had many, many opthamalogists and optometrists. My experience with Stars in Your Eyes has just been wonderful. John and Michael and of course Drs. Schottman and Wright have always been professional, personable, and I have always felt confident they were making the very best decisions regarding my treatment. I love just going into the store sometimes just to say 'hello' when I'm on my lunch hour (or making my 3pm 'sugar' run to CVS!

Thanks to everyone who works so hard to make Stars in Your Eyes a Success - it's so convenient having my eye doctor right downtown!

I bought a pair of sunglasses from SiYE a while back and had a lens break on two separate occasions. Both times I took my sunglasses back and they were repaired promptly and with no hassles. I also purchased a pair of prescription glasses from them and received great advice and excellent customer service. These guys rock!

I have tried numerous other optometrists and MD's in town, and cannot say enough about the professionalism, customer service and eyeglass selection at Stars In Your Eyes. Dr. Emily was friendly, and her staff members Michael and John put me into a pair of glasses that look cool without breaking the bank. A definite A+++++++.

I got my latest frames from Stars in Your Eyes. I get compliments on them all the time. They were super helpful in picking them out and getting them ready for me. When a screw came out of the frame, they fixed them for me with no questions asked. I have sent several friends to see Dr. Schottman and her staff. They are great folks offering a great service. I highly recommend a visit.

DR. Emily Schottman and her staff always answer my questions in a friendly and sincere manner and give me the good and the bad side of my question.
I recently inquired about trifocal lenses and was readily given the facts of both sides of the issue. I took the information and made my decision and have been very happy with the choice I made.
Every time I call I am treated in a friendly ,respectful manner-and I recieve the help i need. I have never had better service. Go by and see for yourself.

I've been seeing Dr Schottman for several years now. Besides being conveniently located right by my office downtown, the service I?ve received has been fabulous. That keeps me coming back. The staff has always gone out of their way to help me when I?ve dropped by unannounced to have my glasses repaired or I?ve lost a contact. I?ve received thorough exams and detailed explanations of my options from Dr Schottman. Both the doctor and her staff are conscientious of my time which is a value I respect in a doctor?s office. Highly recommended.

How refreshing to find friendly, professional customer service! My prescription is challenging and I have been impressed by both doctors at SIYE for their caring, competent and reassuring manner. The staff is always welcoming and accommodating whether I am there for contacts, glasses, or just a glasses adjustment. It is apparent they work hard at efficiency without sacrificing quality for their patients.

I found the office staff to be reflective of Dr Schotmann's warm and professional manner. The latest technology assured proper fitting and prescription. I have noticed other patients there given careful attention in frame selection. I was happy with both the advice and the choices of frames. Overall, a great
experience and I have referred others happily.

Bad, bad experience. I don't mind paying top dollar for convenience. I'm an attorney who works downtown so I wanted to find a professional downtown to examine my eyes. When I went to check out after my exam, the assistant had stacked up boxes and boxes of contact lenses (of some off the wall brand I had never heard of). He became extremely rude when I questioned why I should by such a large stock. He was also put out when I asked for a "to-go" prescription for glasses and contacts. I'm used to confronting jerks in my profession, so I didn't question the assistant's terrible attitude. But I couldn't help but feel bad for other people who might feel compelled to buy glasses, accessories, contacts, etc. from this clown. Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else.

From the moment you walk in the door at "Stars in Your Eyes" you will be taken care of. Dr. Schottman's staff is top notch and very helpful. And Dr. Schottman herself has such a wonderful rapport with her patients and genuinely cares about each invididual need. They stock such a variety of stylish frames and have great eyes when an opinion is needed for picking out new specs. An all around great experience.

I have been going to Stars In Your Eyes for six years and love the staff. The doctors are down to earth and very knowledgeable about contacts, glasses, LASIK and eye diseases (I have cataracts in my family). When you walk in, you feel like you are in a beautiful boutique of glasses and the opticians are great and finding the right pair with the thinnest lenses I've ever had.
The owner has become a friend of mine and really prides herself on serving each patient as she would a friend. Lots of people are nervous about the eye doctor and she just makes it fun. Plus they use high tech computers so dilation isn't usually necessary.
Try them once, you won't be sorry. Easy location downtown (worth the drive if you live in the suburbs) plus near the fun shopping district with coffee houses.

PROS: Staff attitude, expertise, Run On Time
CONS: None!

I first went to Stars three years ago and they helped me pick out a stunning set of frames that look great on me. Over the last 3 years I have had over 100 people tell me how cool my glasses are and some have asked me where I got them. I have had women follow me through Whole Foods to ask me where I got my glasses. Crazy I tell you. You are nuts if you go anywhere but Stars In Your Eyes for cool eyewear and great service.

Update: I got my second pair of glasses from Stars this year and they have done it again. I get complements almost daily on my stylish eye wear. Your service is awesome and I feel that my eye health could not be in better hands than with Dr. Schottman. I have been a happy customer for over 5 years now.

I initially chose Dr. Emily for the convenience of her office location when I worked downtown. I moved office locations after a year, but still make the jaunt for my annual exam, now going on 8 years. Emily, John & Michael are professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and courteous. You could not ask for better service. A great selection of frames and all the insurance paperwork is handled for you. When I chose to have LASIK, Emily was there every step of the way. I think of the whole team as friends.

After getting an exam from the optometrist, the staff will help you pick out the most stylish and flattering glasses in the store. They respect that not everyone wants to pay $300 for frames and will accommodate any budget.

PROS: Nice selection of sleek, modern and retro frames
CONS: Can be pricey, but you can also find affordable frames as well

I have been seeing Dr. Shottman since she opened her own practice in Austin (approximately 6 years ago). I cannot recommend her highly enough. Specifically, I've experienced the following over the past 6 years: Dr. Shottman uses high-tech machines that make eye exams easier, quicker and more accurate; her staff (with her for many years now) is knowledgeable, friendly, excellent in helping to select glasses and always follows up on scheduling, orders for contacts and glasses, etc.; and Dr. Shottman herself is very knowledgeable about conditions of, and treatment of, the eyes while making me feel very comfortable and helping me understand my eye conditions in layman's terms. I have also apprciated how she has continually provided me the most up-to-date, best-for-me contacts on the market. I have recommended Dr. Shottman to my co-workers, and now over half my office calls her their eye doctor!!

Dr. McCrea and her staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful! Dr. McCrea explains the test results, listens to her patients and informs her patients of all of the options available for the best approach to eye care. They have a great selection of contacts and frames. I wouldn't go anywhere else for eye care!

Now I know what Austin is all about---the latest in exams, lenses and contacts without forgetting friendly Texas hospitality. From my first call to picking up my great new glasses, I was so impressed with the professionalism and knowledge of this staff. I get complements on my glasses all the time. I know Dr. McCrea from triathlons and she fits great contacts for athletes and had great ideas for my tired eyes at the computer. I almost never wait at her office. She does LASIK evaluations, too--very down to earth and fun! Right downtown on Congress--I'm a patient for life!
