DR Jung at Rowlett Veterinary Clinic has retired and all his staff is gone.We just went to take the boys in for their allergy shot and what use to cost 20.00 a piece is now 55.00 because apparently now you have to pay 35.00 just to walk in the door. We took our records and after 15 yrs we now have to find our babies a new Vet! I am crushed because we have taken all of our babies there but can not afford 110.00 a month for a monthly allergy shot.

Business Response:

Hello, My name is Cody and I am the new Hospital Manager at Rowlett Veterinary Clinic. I wanted to respond to you recent review of our Clinic. We do have a exam fee of $35 (which is the same fee that Dr. Jung had) which is associated with most vet visits depending on what we are seeing your baby for. We have updated our policies for the allergy shots and as long as we have an updated and yearly physical on your kiddos we will do the injections without an exam. ALSO a plus the injection price has decreased :-). We would love to keep you as a client and I want you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. 972-475-1312 or email me at ScoutCB@aol.com.

Please beware of this clinic. They nearly killed my dog. She was in for her routine vaccinations, and had a terrible reaction. The vet claims to have premedicated her to avoid a reaction, however that was not the case. She was only given two injections, not the four the vet claims. The very rude young male vet tech also claims that the injections were given. He stated they slip them in pretty quick. My mother was holding the dog....it was very clear there were only two syringes and two injections given. It appears this clinic is willing to sacrifice integrity in order to protect their own reputation. Please beware of this clinic.

I have been taking my dogs to this clinic for over 20 years. The building is aged, the info on your animals is kept on index cards and not computers, the main waiting room is furnished with uncomfortable wooden benches, and yes...it smells like animals. What might you expect it to smell like? :)

What MATTERS though, is the level of care my dogs receive, and that this care comes at a low cost...financially speaking. The doctors don't just tell you what you NEED to hear about your pet either. Years ago, my dog Sandra had gotten cancer of the mouth, and Dr. Jung honestly told me it was very likely fatal. I should have heard it, but felt like I had to fight for her, and took her to specialist...for surgery. Thousands of dollars and a few weeks later, her cancer was back. I ended up putting her though that, only to have to put her down. I have learned since, not to second guess him, certainly at my dog's expense.

There is a reason that on a Saturday, I have to get to this office an hour before they open, to secure a place near front of line. There is a reason you will likely wait hours at this office (first come, first served) even during a weekday. There is a reason so many people, myself included, have been taking their animals here for decades. That reason is excellent care, and do you want anything less for YOUR pet?

As an extra FYI, Saturday hours are actually 8-11, no longer the 8-1 indicated on many websites.

I saw all the great reviews and needed to get my foster dog her microchip and a few other things too. From the outside and decor, the place is nothing special BUT who cares? The staff is extremely caring and the cost was unreal, anywhere else they would've charged 3x what I paid! I HIGHLY recommend this place and will be taking my own pets back! Thank you so much for your awesome service :)

My English Bulldog had both his cherry eyes fixed here. The is an expensive surgery & I had moved to the Frisco/McKinney area.... land of high-priced vets, Xrays and needless tests. After talking to Betty, I loaded up the dog & took him to Rowlett. I grew up going to Dr. Jung's office. My mom took her jillions of animals there for years. Guess what? Dallas' eyes turned out great. I had no problems with him and the surgery cost about a third of what it would have cost in the Frisco area. Almost makes me want to move back to Rowlett! (Well, not really, but his prices are great!) Yes, Dr. Jung is what I call an "old country vet," and is very realistic. Even though our pets are our babies, who in the world wants to go broke over trying to keep an old dog or a dog with cancer alive????

I told Dr. Jung I wished I could find a doctor for myself who was ask good as he is. I'm a 20+ years customer, and I thank God for Dr. Jung. PS: His wife cleaned up the dog pee.

We have been going to Dr Jung for 24 years. I trust their opinion, not a high tech Dr but usually spot on. They are not afraid to do additional tests either. I don't hesitate to recommend them.

The only place I take my animals. We have been going to Rowlett Vet Clinic for 15+ years & my parents years before that. They are vets that actually care for animals because they have a passion for it, not to make a buck. There office isn't modern & fancy but that doesn't affect the care you pet gets & you are not paying that expense at check-out. They are "oldschool" but new isn't always better :) You can actually treat animals without all of the expensive testing other vets try to sell you. They are extremely affordable & caring.

It is a wonderful place to take your loved pets. Those who are not happy - stay away - one less person in line while I wait to see one of the most compassionate and qualified vets around.

When I first met Dr. Jung and the staff I must say that I didnt have any complaints but also had nothing to say. Over the past 7 plus years Rowlett Vet Clinic has impressed me several times.
They are caring people that offer the best, honest pet care you will ever be able to find at affordable prices!
I just cant say enough good positive things about this place!

I love Dr Jung and his staff. They are real people who honestly care about you and your pet. When we first moved here and were looking for a vet I took my elderly beagle to one of those fancy places because he wasnt eating. When I walked out of there they had given me a list of surgeries they needed to do on my 15yr old dog. heart surgery, cataracs, etc never once did they firgure out that my dog had an abcessed tooth that needed pulled. I went to Dr Jung he examined my baby found the problem removed the abcess and then honestly told me he could do everything the other clinic wanted to do but with our baby being a senoir citizen it would be cruel and expensive, and it would not prolong his life. My baby was with us for another year. Dr Jung is an old time Vet who still cares for animals because of his love for them not for the money. He and his staff are special and i wouldn't trust anyone else.

I am sad to read the bad reviews- misdiagnosis and miscommunications. I know that there are two sides to every coin and I stand behind Dr. Jung, Betty and those he chooses to employ. If a fancy doc had gotten a bad test kit, or had an employee that tried to help before they were ready- I would hope they would be reviewed the same. Everyone makes mistakes, even overpaid cutting edge vets who have to have all the bells and whistles.
We have been with them for 18 years, we have always gotten the best of care at a fraction of 'others' cost. Yes, it smells like animals. Yes, it is old school. However, you will not find any doctor who cares more about animals- period.
We have had three animals in all the years at the end of their life. Had we not chosen to put them down- they would have suffered. Every one, Dr. Jung had a tear or got choked up- because he had cared for every one and knew their personality. He has performed emergency surgery and treated our animals like his own. Betty always has a story about our pets if they have to stay- meaning that they spend time with them and watch them and remember them.
They have always worked with us if finances were tight and our pets needed care- we will be sad to see the day when he retires.

this vet clinic is not fancy, but it is realistically priced. the staff does care about the animals. however, mistakes are made here as well as anywhere else. i would caution anyone against making a decision to put an animal down or give an animal up based on one doctor's diagnosis. before making such a large decision, get a second opinion. you would do so with your kids, and you should do so with your pets...my humble opinion. you folks with animals with skin allergies...you might do some research on a product called Revolution that treats heart worms, mites, skin allergy causing agents of various sorts, fleas....my rottie had mange...revolution got rid of it. i have five dogs...no heartworms, no fleas, no mites...do your research. i order mine from canadapharmacy.com where it's more affordable also and not illegal. also, for parvo, research parvoguard...it saved our new puppy's life after the garland vet and $400 failed to do so.

I am highly disappointed with Rowlett Veterinary Clinic. I had adopted a dog, and shortly after we got him, he began itching, and he had an awful odor. We took him to the vet, and they tested him for mange, and said it was negative, and it was just skin allergies. They put him on a vitamin, an antibiotic, gave him a steroid shot, a anti-itch shot, and gave him a prescription shampoo. Nothing worked. I tried finding other medications to help him, but Rowlett Veterinary Clinic said there was nothing much else we could do unless we wanted to try a very expensive allergy testing. Since we could not afford the testing, we ended up surrendering him to a shelter. Shortly after we gave him up, my other dog started itching, so we took him to the vet. They once again said it was skin allergies, and gave him the same type of treatment. I called the shelter just to check on the dog we had given up, and she told us that she highly recommends that we change vets. Her vet, within five minutes of looking at him, diagnoses him with sarcoptic mange. I was heartbroken that I got rid of an animal because of a misdiagnosis from this clinic. I will never again use this vet. I have since started using Rockwall County Veterinary Clinic. They are great!

Curtis has been our family vet since the late 1970's - was our neighbor for many years, too. We wouldn't have anyone else see to our pets!!! His clinic may not be fancy, and may have the odor of animals, but his prices are realistic and affordable.
Last year, a friend and I bought puppies from the same litter. She went to her vet - I went to Curtis -- she paid 4 times what I paid for well puppy check and shots!!!
He loves the animals - melts when he touches them and the staff is fun to visit with, remembering them from one visit to the next.
It's first come first served, so it's convenient to take the pets in, and there's always another pet and person to enjoy while you're waiting.

So the recepionist at the Rowlett Veterinary Clinic told us no food or water past 8pm for Harvey the day before neutering. When we got there, the nurse said rabbits were to continually get food and water the receptionist was mistaken. We get a call 3 hours later saying Harvey is really a girl, I ask if she can be spayed, and the receptionist says she already has and will be ready for pickup anytime past 2pm.

When we get there, she hasn't been spayed (the receptionist was mistake again) because evidently the vet isn't confident enough to spay females and they want to charge us $10 for clipping her nails. So they had us starve her overnight, drive 1.5 hours for neutering, told us the spay had been done when it hadn't, want to charge us $10 for cutting her nails, and then had us wait while they found her hay rack that they "misplaced".

Even if the doctor had been intelligent enough to figure out how spay a female, we wouldn't go there again for fear of the staff caring for her.

Some of these reviews focus on the facilities at Rowlett Veterinary Clinic. If you are looking for shiny, new, upscale facilities (and the outrageous prices that come with them) DO NOT COME HERE!! If you are looking for caring, friendly people who love animals and will treat your four-legged family member as if he were their own, this is the place for you. It's a vet clinic...it smells like animals...big surpise!! The prices are very fair, and the people are very friendly. They always remember our animals. We wouldn't go anywhere else!

I have taken my animals here for many years. I have had the best care and perspective when it came to the treatment of my animals needs. I appreciate having the option of going somewhere for good care and advice, and yet not have a huge bill at the end. Really my comment is about how much this facility cares about providing for its community. Over the years it's never been about money with Dr. Jung, it's always been about providing care for animals and respecting the families first.

We like 'em. They are gentle and very thorough with our beloved special child and seem as on the mark as any vet we've ever used. The cat feels comfortable there, and he doesn't take well to some doctors. You could say, "they're the cat's pajamas" in our book.

We took our dog there many years ago. Dr. Jung was not able to fidn out what was wrong with him. So we took him to another vet and they found the problem. It just took a simple diagnostic procedure to find out that it was a very serious condition. Had we taken Dr. Jung's advice (wait and let's see if he gets better) there's a great chance he would have died. yes, the facility is way below subpar levels, is not very professional, smells bad, and the staff seems undertrained. Won't go back there. Someone said it best above when they said he practices old school. He cares about animals but he's not well-informed on how to treat them.

A couple of years ago my cat had to have emergency surgery in the middle of the night. The next morning I had to take the cat from the animal hospital to Rowlett Veterinary Clinic (my vet) where he would stay until the next morning. Because the cat would not leave his incision alone or the tubes, he had to have a second emergency surgery. Due to the seriousness of the surgery and the problems that occurred most vets would have opted to put the cat down. Dr. Jung and his staff fought and nurtured my cat back to health. Not only did they save my cat but they did not charge me for the second surgery. I might add that the second surgery was not necessary because of any neglect on the part Dr. Jung or his staff. I cannot say enough good things about this clinic. They truly care about the well being of the animal. No, the clinic does not look like a palace but I firmly believe they are there to treat the animals and not to make a fortune. My heart felt thanks go out to this clinic for the exceptional care they have given my pets over the years. I will never trust my animals to anyone except them.

This clinic reeks - just an awful odor. They practice "old school" medicine and will misdiagnose your pet if there is a problem. Not a good experience and I will never go back. I'm lucky my dog made it.

This is not an upscale clinic but you get the best care! Dr Chung is awasome. The people who work here are great. They care about every animal that comes in there. The do not take reservations except for surgeries so you may have a long wait. You are able to check in and sit in your car if you have a skittish animal. It is not a pretty place but that's what keep the cost down. Your not paying for a place that looks great but for the care of your animal. We use to pay a lot more for shots and office visits but we will never go anywhere else.

This is not an upscale clinic but you get the best care! Dr Chung is awasome. The people who work here are great. They care about every animal that comes in there. .

The office is small and looks a bit cluttered when you go in but don't be put off with the surroundings, the staff from the vet's to the nurses and office staff are wonderful and truly care about the animal you're bringing in to see them.
