DONT GO! DONT SAY I DIDNT WORN YOU!!!!!I moved to the Houston area a few years ago and have not yet found a good hair place. When you walk in you are not greeted, I waited OVER 35 minutes to get my hair cut, and yes i had an appointment! Its hit or miss at this salon whether you will be served well. There is also ALWAYS stylists just "hanging out" on there phones talking loud or reading a magazine. When i got my hair done....lets just say i dont like to talk about it......YIKES! DO NOT GO! SAVE YOURSELF!

Ok, here's the thing.I've been going to this salon for a year, and within that year I've had 3 different hairstylists. Whether they've quit or been fired, they have such a huge turn over for such a small salon. The only reason why I stayed with them is because it is close to home. But, I'm done with them. They are unfriendly, the front desk girl is very unpleasant and unprofessional.

Lately, they've also become very pushy with trying to sell customers their products. Comes to show you that, business is pretty bad and they need to make money some how. Well, they're not getting any money from me.
You can feel the tension in that salon, for some reason. The employees are so unpleasant, so it's got to be the owners!
Then why should the owners deserve my business.

I would never tell anyone ever again to go to Journeys!!!!!! My stylist is Kathrine "Kat". She's hands down the best stylists I've ever had! I'll say the salon itself is horrable. The owener's are very unprofessional and cold, the woman, I agree dresses like my 3 year old in a 50 year old womans body. The man on the other hand, well I came in once for my appointment and he was sitting there at the front he never looked up to greet me. Everytime I go in he's very unfriendly and cold.
Kathrine has now moved to another salon, was excited to hear of this. She is now at Cassandra's Hair Studio located at 17330 Spring Cypress across from the Krogers shopping center. I'll follow her to 10-buck-2 if I had too!!!! Again hands down the BEST stylist I've EVER had!!!!!!!

I'm new to Journey's - It's CLEAN, FRIENDLY, and Kayley and Korina (new girl - love her!) have both done fantastic on my color and cut! I've known Kayley since she was a little kid - but wasn't aware she did hair until my first visit. She's fantastic! VERY PLEASED WITH JOURNEY'S! (and someone ALWAYS asks if I want something to drink....:):)

1. The place is constantly dirty, no one cleans up after they are done with a service, I went there 3 times and twice I left (unknowingly) with my shirt stained by haircolor left on chairs!
2. The building is literally falling apart. When i was getting my hair washed, I noticed the walls and molding at the top of the walls falling off!
3. The man (owner I believe) is rude and a pervert. I heard him make a very derogative comment to one of the young girls that works there, she laughed it off but did not seem to agree with it. This happened a second time in the same day with a different very young girl, however she seemed to be more "into" him, I felt extremely awkward.
4. The woman that is at the front (perhaps the mans wife) is incredibly unprofessional. She dresses like my 5 year old daughter when she plays dress up and literally snaps her fingers at her employees as if everyone (especially her customers) need to know that she is the boss.
5. My hair came out OK the last time I was there but I have definitely had better. My stylist was very nice, although she did mention some pretty personal issues of her own and of other employees which I thought to be unprofessional as will. I do not remember her name but she has short, dark hair.

If you are looking for a true awesome Stylist go see Devon Duty.
She is know as the Updo Queen and her talent is amazing she can make you look from DRAB to FAB.
If you want a new style and bored with your same old not to know what to do with your hair then let her work her majic on you!!!
She will explain to you what product will work with your hair and how to keep it looking healthy.

I was just checking to see what others were saying about Journey's. In some cases it was really amazing, and shocking. I have "known" both Soren and Charlene since before they were even married. They worked for someone else, but were, even then outshining HER.

When I found out that they had been able to establish their own salon it made me very happy! My stylist is Kathrine (Kat), when I first wanted to go to Journey's Soren wasn't available, and they suggested Kat. I have been TOTALLY pleased with everything Kat has EVER done WITH and FOR my hair.

I really do not understand ANY of the "rants" that are on this site, because all one has to do is speak up and what ever you are complaining about WILL BE FIXED! Believe me, I can complain a lot! --THEY MADE ME REMOVE THE B WORD I ORIGINALLY USED! -- You know, a hair sticking out here or there, or too straight in one place, etc. Anyway, I just do not get it.

I have been going to Journey's since I moved to Houston in July 2008. Kat has been doing my hair ever since. We've a a mishap here or there, but that is normal for such a long time. I always enjoy my time there. It is like meeting with a great friend. I can't begin to say how sweet everyone is. I give them a 5 star for sure - otherwise, I wouldn't still be there 2 1/2 years later!

I had a horrible experience at Journey's Hair Studio! For x-mas my hubby got me the works at Journey's-hair cut & highlights. The color came out good but the hair cut was one of the worst I have ever gotten! It was shorter & thinner on one side. The stylist Kat said no problem come back in so I did. After she finished trimming it - I still had lop sided hair! & she said that was normal with the way I part my hair-hello? Plus she wasn't going to blow dry it since she had another customer waiting so I said it still wasn't fixed & she so she pawned her other client off to another stylist & did more trimming & didn't even offer to blow dry my hair so I walked out of Journey's with wet hair!. If this was a cheap haircut then I would understand but it wasn't. Very bad customer service & made me feel like it was my fault that she was late for her next appt ( oh btw she made the appt with the other client the same time as my fix up hair do. If she wouldn't gotten it right the first time then she would be on time! I will NOT begoing back to her or Journey's.

Great experience at Journey's. Normally I don't take just anyone but this girl was so sweet. Kaylie did a great job on my hair. I will certainly go back to her. The massage she gave while washing my hair was remarkable. She also suggested some products she thought would be good for my hair. She was right. I can't say enough good things about her. IF anyone was looking for Wendy I have now found her!! She was an amazing hairstylist who really listened and cared for all of my needs. I was shocked and appalled when I found she was no longer at Journey's, but either way I have now found her. I feel she was a gift sent from God, and I feel her true clients feel the same- the way to contact her is 832-622-3895!! One day, they will maybe learn to KEEP talented stylist. I think they have ran all of them off!

I just went to Journey's for my first time to get my hair done by Wendy and I was very pleased with my experience. My whole has been going to her for about a 1 1/2 now and none of us has yet to go to her new shop. I don't pick out what is done to my hair instead I tell Wendy "You are the stylist and you would know more than anyone what would look good" She colors and cuts my hair and I have never had a complaint. My son was 2 1/2 and scared to death to get his haircut and Wendy the sweetheart that she is, cut my son's Shamu doll first to prove that it will be ok.
I know Wendy is good at what she does you would not keep her if she didn't know what she was doing.

I find it very telling that the negative comments about the salon, staff/owners and service were written by Anonymous, with the single exception of reina. If you aren't willing to write your name then maybe your comments need to be taken with a grain of salt.

I also find it quite elitist of the poster who "requires" a drink be offered while having a haircut. Quite ironic considering many of the negative comments about the staff/owners is their "uppity" attitudes....We all have our needs I suppose....

Prior to going to Journeys, I'd been driving an hour each way to get highlights and a haircut but found Soren through an acquaintance. He corrected the color and gave me a great haircut. I didn't even realize the color needed correcting until he did it. It looks so much more natural now, and I get lots of compliments. He uses better quality products, too, as my hair is much less damaged - again something I hadn't realized. I thought my hair had changed due to aging. I love my hair now. Haircuts do not cost over $40 - I believe they're $25. As to the comments about Soren never smiling - some people do look mad/upset/angry when they are not, and I think he is one of those. He has always been very pleasant and friendly to me. Took my teenage daughter in and he cut her hair beautifully. She is thrilled with it. Being the owner of the shop, maybe he needs to work harder at pampering people, I don't know, like I said - I've always found him friendly. I've been going there for about a year now, and I only have good things to say. One more thing - he isn't from the USA originally, so maybe that has something to do with it. But if you talk to him, I think you will find him very friendly.

I'm a regular at Journey's. My stylist is Danielle and I LOVE her. She is young but knows what she is doing. I loved the color and style she gave me. She is sweet and is always focused on her goal.

The husband/wife owners are not always pleasant. Soren never smiles and always seems to hate life and Charlene is just a gossiper that thinks she is too good for everyone else.

The only reason I keep going back is because I love my stylist and I just put up with the owners. If you visit Journey's request Danielle. She is great!

I have gone to Journeys for a long time, but the turnover of staff leaves a lot to be desired because it makes it hard to get the same hairdresser twice.Mr Soren is more miserable each time I go in, yet his wife always has a smile on her face!The 'hairdressers' are young kids with no experience and not qualified at all! I want somebody who knows what they are doing to work on my hair so I am going elsewhere from now on!You are never made to feel welcome or even offered a drink - but you are still charged more than you would pay elsewhere..I am posting this anonymously rather than hurt the feelings of the owners more than necessary.What a shame.

I have been a customer of Journey's for a little over two years. The only reason I continue to go there is because of the location. I have been through three stylists there, who have all left the salon. I love my current stylist, but wish he worked at another salon.

Offhand, I have had a minimum of four hair disasters there. When I complained I received a chilly, rude reception by Soren. Afterward I went to another salon to have my hair corrected. It's not worth it to pay someone to be rude to you. I am one of those people who never complains. My hair has to look really bad for me to do so.

The owners Charlene and Soren have made me feel uncomfortable on more than one occasion. Charlene gossips and Soren never smiles. The atmosphere is unprofessional and an arrogant attitude is received by some of the employees. They are hardly an inside the loop experience as I recently read.

An inside the loop experience is when your stylist offers you a glass of wine or a soft drink and good conversation as though you are in a spa. You are made to feel beautiful even if you are not and you let the customer know that their patronage is valued. I would pay any amount of money for that experience and not have to drive so far to get it. This is not the case with Journeys.

At my last visit, I was so upset that no matter how convenient it is or how much I like the stylist. I felt like I was at a foreign nail salon, except I knew the language this time. It's really a shame that they can't see the bad image they reflect.

My husband also found their attitude to be superior and without merit.

Soren has been the first stylist that has been able to cut my hair and have it lay as it should after being cut. I appreciate his professional and courteous staff. Charlene has been doing my hair since 1998, I am a weekly customer, the people that work there are very friendly and helpful. The shop is clean and comfortable, I have made wonderful friends there, I look forward to my weekly visits. I have known Charlene and Soren since before they were married. One day as I was backing my car out of the parking lot, Soren noticed that my brakes were squealing. He hurried to tell me. I was there first customer in there new shop, we have formed such a bond, we are like family. Love them both.

Years ago a hair stylist that cut my hair retired. I asked her who would she recommend for the great service and haircuts I was used to getting. She referred me to Charlene. Charlene started cutting my hair and I always received an outstanding hair cut and good customer service, which I had been used to previously. After a while her husband Soren started cutting my hair and he continues to cut it now. I enjoy my conversations with him and he also continues to give me excellant hair cuts. I have been going to them for years before they opened their own business. I can honestly say I have always been treated well and always received an outstanding hair cut. Their salon is always clean and their employees are courteous and friendly. It has been fun going there and watching their business grow. I would highly recommend them and their staff for great customer service.

My daughter and I have been going to Journey's for about 4 years now. We started out as "walk-ins" but quickly realized that we were going to become regulars. Soren, has been our stylist from day 1. As a teen, my daughter has experimented with plenty of "D.I.Y." hair colors. We've had to rely on Soren's experience and expertise in correcting what seemed like disasters. We've gone thur plenty of formal dances and always had Soren's team of stylist and makeup artist work their magic. We are not "picky" clients and we don't require extra pampering but the service and atmosphere at Journey's always makes us feel special...no matter what kind of a day we are having.

I'm not sure what the customer service philosophy is at this Husband/Wife-owned salon. The best stylist they had they ran off and its not worth going back for me. Someone in an earlier review mentioned Maurees. I agree, he is good, but needs to learn when to shut his yap...he and many others there gossip to the point that it made ME uncomfortable. I went for two years to Jennifer, who is not only an AMAZING stylist and colorist, but very sweet and genuine. I NEVER heard her gossip about other clients. Not so with the others. Plus, for two years I NEVER saw the owner Soren smile. He never once said hello to me, thank you for your business, nothing. I felt like he leaves his personality at home. When you go to a salon you want to feel pampered and taken care of. Since Jennifer is no longer there, I found somewhere else. And while I'm getting this off my chest, they really should take more time training their high schoolers who greet their clients and answer the phone. Their phone etiquette, manners and demeanor leave much to be desired. Being snotty and pushy on the phone is not something to teach these young girls. With so many great salons and stylists out there, don't waste your time or money here. Go where you will be treated like you deserve. For many of us, this is the only time we get "ME" time. I choose to go somewhere where I feel like they want me there.

I made an appointment to get my hair cut but didn't ask for anyone in particular since I had not been there before. The cut that I received is one of the worst I have had. I didn't get the stylist's name, though. She didn't tell me her name, didn't try to give me her business card. I couldn't really tell the extent of the damage until I got home and I will not be going back there. Some of their stylists may perform quite well, but evidently not all of them. So my message here is, have a personal recommendation for a particular stylist before you make an appointment.

The stylists at Journey's are some of the best in the industry. If you want quality for just a few dollors more, then Journey's is someplace you should try. I have found it difficult to get an appointment, they stay very busy and can't accomidate "walk in's". I use Soren, he is one of the best.

The salon employees are extremly rude customer service is not their forte. My mother sister and I went in because we were excited there was a salon nearby and thought we would give it a try. When my mom inquired about a simple haircut the woman looked at her like she was speaking a foreign language. You would think they had an appointment book to look at instead she walked around the salon asking anyone if they could accomodate her and then came back 15 minutes later and just said no sorry & that was it.

After going to this hair salon twice, it leaves much to be desired. First of all, most of the hairdressers that I've had (one of them that I had is no longer there) aren't talented. The girl that first cut my hair cut it so angled, and even left a long, and thick strand of hair that was obviously much longer than the length of the other hair. I had to cut it when I got home. What a pain! Then the other hairdresser that I was recommended wasn't a personable hairdresser whatsoever. Not friendly. Didn't even look like she enjoyed her job, almost looked like she didn't want to be there. Luckily there was someone nearby who I had asked to cut my hair, and it was halfway decent. I wanted it a little shorter, but he didn't really understand. With whatever time was left, he did the best he could. After writing a letter to the owners, and never hearing back from them, I have decided to never return to this salon. It isn't worth it. The man owner seems ok, never showed a smile, or was happy to have my business. I can find another salon. They honestly need to improve their business, or they won't have much of a business left, and apparently I'm not the only one who feels this way, many of the other reviewers feel the same way. :(
