Premier Daycare

I am the mother of twins that have attended the Plano Hedgcoxe location of TLC since they were 12 weeks old. They are now second graders on their way to TLC this morning for the summer program The care has been outstanding. Of course my children in the first two years of their life caught every germ that was out there. In her words, her daycare children may have been sick early on, however, when they start to regular school, they are never sick. She was right. In kindergarten, one of my twins received perfect attendance, and the other missed one day due to a fever. This past year in the first grade, they both missed 1 day as a result of the entire house being sick. My children have learned so much from TLC. They are both A honor roll. They have a great time in the summer with all the field trips and other programs. As with all day cares, there will be some bumps in the road and you do have to be the voice of your child and make sure they are getting the best of care. I've found that any problem I did have was handled swiftly.

Excellent Day Care for a Picky Mom
by Stefanie H.
I chose this daycare based on all of the absolute rave reviews I heard from several parents that used the day care, most who started attending as infants and continued all the way through until they started primary school. In fact, during my tour of the school one of the parents walking down the hallway voluntarily shared how wonderful his experience with the school had been - and I didn't even ask!Our experience for our three month old son has been great. The teachers have been really nice and accommodating. I access the web cam daily and they are constantly attending to the children. The room is full with eight babies and two care takers and they manage to run the room smoothly. It's very clean and every time I am there the kids are very happy and content, including my son.

Excellent Daycare
by Jill M.
I have read the other reviews on TLC and I joined this site just to make this comment. I looked at SEVERAL day cares before choosing the one for my child. My daughter is 2, and was in Cambridge Academy which was the worst experience and I would not recommend to anyone. I pulled her out of Cambridge, and although TLC was more expensive, it was the best decision I could have made. I also have an 8 month old that goes to this school as well. Hands down this is the best place I could have found for my children,. The turnover is extremely low, they give me a FULL report of what has taken place with my kids every single day which is fully filled out. If another child bites my child, or even if she hits her head, they call me at work to let me know before I pick her up. They show her and him, lots of love every morning. Before when I would drop my daughter off at Cambridge, she would kick and scream and cry for me not to leave her, and and was always crying when I picked her up. now, she is NEVER crying when I drop her off or pick her up. Same goes for my son. I have dropped in before during odd times to see what they are doing during the day, and they are always being card for very well. The teachers are very informative with me about their day, and everything that involves their class. They offer many fun activities for the kids, and I have not been able to find this at any other daycare, nothing even close. I found that Angela (the director) has been very nice when I have dealt with her. And she seems like she genuinely cares. I would very much recommend this daycare. All kids will get sick going to daycare no matter when they go, that is a no brain er. When they are around other kids, they get sick time to time, that is not the daycare fault.

Stay away!
by Jasmin O.
We attended this daycare for two years since my son was five months old. In summary: The daycare is very expensive and not worth its money. There are better places out there!
The infant caregivers were nice and my son was doing ok - until winter came! Then he contracted viruses, among them RSV, and he got so sick that my pediatrician told us to take him out of TLC and hire a nanny. We decided to give it a second chance and put him back in TLC when he was two years old. The class was very loud and the kids were crying incessantly. The caregivers raised their voices a lot and everything seemed quite chaotic. My son did kind of ok in that environment - until winter came and he got sick over and over again.
One day, I came early from work to pick him up and I saw that they sent him out to play without a coat on!!! It was freezing cold, and he was pale and he was shivering. Two days later, he came down with a severe case of pneumonia!
I talked to management (Angela) and she apologized and promised it "would never happen again". The medical bills that I had due to my sons pneumonia ran in their hundreds and TLC did not even think of taking any kind of financial responsibility. I decided to look around for another daycare.
Several days later, Angela called me up at work and said she needed to discuss something "important" with me. She said one mom had complained that she overheard one of my phone conversations in which I had, according to her, used a "foul word" that this was a "bad influence" on her son. That was the last straw for me! I told Angela that while TLC bothers to call me up at work on frivolous issues, the most important thing, namely a safety concern for my son and other children has never been properly addressed. The very same day, I decided that enough is enough and I took my son out of TLC.

Would not recommend!

We attended this daycare for a total of three weeks. The first two days my son got a major virus which we ended up catching too. We were all sick the rest of the week. He returned the following week and after one day came down with RSV. The women in the infants room just sit in rockers and talk all day. They do very little interaction with the kids. They put the babies in bouncers or in a gym on the floor and practically ignore them unless they need to be fed or changed. They even leave some of the babies in their bouncy while feeding them. They messed up on my childs medicine and lied to me about it. They said only one person administers the children's medicine and that the ladies in the room do not. The ladies in the room gave my child his medicine and did it wrong right in front of me. When I questioned her about it, she said that is the way she did it the previous day and could give me no answers to why the other woman wasnt giving it to him like I was told. I explained everything to the other woman and wrote it down so that was very aggravating! The director or manager of this center is very unfriendly and rude. Many times I would be in mid sentence with her in person or over the phone and she would start talking to someone else or stopped paying attention to me. It was a mess. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It was a big disappointment - sorry!

Great curriculum! Great teachers!

My 4 yr old daughter has been going to TLC for 6 months. Ms. Sharon is the curriculum director and has done a great job keeping these kiddos busy and learning! My daughter loves going to school and has so much to tell us each day. Her teachers are great. We were so sad to see Ms. Lauren move though :( The summertime was phenomenal! We paid a $50 extra fee for June and July and they went on great field trips - including, Dallas World Aquarium, Nickelmania, Planet Pizza, etc. They had swim day 3 twice a week and always something going on.
One extra benefit is once a month they have a Kid's Night Out from 6-Midnight for only $25/per child. We try to plan our date night around this since our daughter has a blast playing with her friends there.
When she first started we had free webcame access (around $25 a month). It was great watching her.
This is a very stable school in terms of teachers. I hear of other places that move kids around a lot, or teachers quit. That has not been an issue here at all.
They offer spanish and computer class with the tuition. They have dance and karate for an extra charge.
PROS: curriculum, teachers, location, space, classroom size, 1/2 age rooms
CONS: higher cost than we're used to, but worth it.
