Ratings_icons THANK YOU!!!

I have eaten at the location on two occasions and have had food delivered several times. We could not be more pleased both with the service and the wonderful food. The owners are simply amazing ? thanks again for delivering ? you helped make a bad day much better. We frequented another Thai restaurant in the area for years and were leery about trying a new restaurant? we were very pleasantly surprised. This is now our favorite local Thai restaurant.

Pros: Food is wonderful - the owners are the best!

Cons: Parking can be a hassle

Ratings_icons Don't get it

Testmo

I have to add a disclaimer - I have only been to this establishment once, and i only ordered 1 appetizer and 1 meal... but based one this I would not go back to try more

I read a review declaring people would need a reservation. Maybe you needed one in this restaurants hey-day which is obviously not now. I went to pick up my food at 6 on a Saturday night and place was deader than dead. The staff did not act or seem to even be expecting anyone anytime soon.

I SHOULD have read all the reviews for this place before ordering. I went here based on a person I know's recomendation, that person is now definitely someone who has never had a decent meal.

I ordered the Spring Rolls, because hey I love Spring Rolls and I just worked out. I was thinking something light might be nice. On the menu it lists tofu as being in the rolls. My rolls contained shredded cabbage, carrots, red cabbage and I think little parts of a pickle. The shredded ingredients are typical of a grocery store bag of mix cole slaw ingredients. Definitely contained no tofu. Disappointing. But they were both huge.

For my meal I ordered Pad thai (had I read the review that stated don't order Pad thai, I wouldnt have). The pad thai was a huge portion that could feed two average to hungry average people. Again on the menu it lists crushed peanuts, common among pad thais, my order did not contain this. My pad thai was similar, if not exactly, to that Kraft brand "asian food" bowls you can buy at a grocery store. Small bit of pad thai flavor, it just wasn't a good or true flavor. But the pad thai did contain quite a bit of chicken and egg. Both were in big huge chunks.

As for the reviews stating Thai Sticks offers authentic thai food, the people that wrote that must think Taco Bell hits the heart and spirit of Mexico.

Basically what I am learning is the average person has no taste buds or any idea of anything other than meat & potatoes americana.

Pros: Patio, interior

Cons: food

Ratings_icons Simply Fantastic

MaraT

A very romantic and stylish place located in a hip area in town- Montrose. Has a beautiful patio for people who like to eat outside. The food is amazing. The Thai Tiger martinis are to die for, and the service is great. The place has a beautiful bar as well. It's ideal for dates, because it is not very loud.

You have to park on side streets, so for people who like walking going there will give them the opportunity to take a short walk.

Pros: Best Thai in Town, and Best Martinis

Ratings_icons Weekly Thai Tradition!

DCAllen

Everything about Thai Sticks is wonderful. I've been fortunate to have "real" Thai food my whole life cooked by my Thai friend from her family recipes. TS is the only place that even compares! The lunch specials are fantastic and filling for the price. All the curries are wonderful, as are the noodle dishes (with the exception of Pad Thai-get it elsewhere), and Cashew Chicken. My husband and I like it so much we go weekly.

If you are a Thai fan, you have to try TS!

Pros: Best Thai curries, lunch specials, fast service

Ratings_icons Good value, poor value

We ate at Thai Sticks on April 11, 2009 for dinner. The restaurant was rather empty with only 3-4 tables occupied at 6:30 pm. We dined until after 7 pm which would normally be a "rush" time, but the place was still rather empty. The food was great, the service good, but the portions were quite small for the price. We opted to get the Panaeng Curry with Tofu instead of meat. There were only a few pieces of tofu and the portion did not even fill half of the serving platter. The rice was a very small bowl not filled to the top. I have eaten Thai food in many of Houston's restaurants and in comparison, the value is very low. Perhaps this is one reason the restaurant had very few patrons! Just for reference, we had a small appetizer, two non-alcoholic drinks and our vegetarian entree and the bill was over $30.00 without tip.

Pros: Excellent Curry

Cons: Small Portion, overpriced

Ratings_icons Great Service,Great food, Very clean.

I've been eating Thai food in Houston for about 12 years now and have been to Thai Sticks about a dozen times in the last two year. I must say this establishment keeps me coming back. I enjoy the skewers of pork or chicken satay, the Mahi Mahi and scallops Pad woo sen noodles and their lettuce wraps. I've been to other Thai eateries where the cleanliness is a little questionable but not at Thai Sticks. This is a very clean restaurant.
I look forward to going back for the Thai beer (can't remember the name). Also I've never seen another Thai place in Houston with such an extensive and high quality wine list. Great date spot.

Ratings_icons Disappointed in the food quality

gayparade

We went there this evening and were expected excellent food; however, were only please with the atmosphere and service.

FOOD: 2 stars.
Seafood explosion soup lacked explosion. 3 stars. The broth was flavorful but not extraordinary. We were expecting a bounty of seafood but only had a few shrimps and scallops and no squid as suggested by the menu. This was the best part of the meal.
Massaman curry-3 stars. Was on the sweeter side but after half the dish, the sweetness became overpowering and uncomfortable for a main dish (and I even generally prefer sweeter dishes).
Chicken basil and beef garlic had decent sauces, but similar to the thai fried rice, we think the chef forgot to season the meats and just added them to the dishes. The thai rice was flavored nicely with soy sauce and lime juice-nothing to write home about though.

SERVICE: 4 stars. Very attentive and amenable. Still friendly to our kiddos even though when were is a "pretty" restaurant, we worry about the little rascals damaging something.

ATMOSPHERE: 4 stars. Clean and "well dressed".

OVERALL: Since we value taste the most, average is the best we could give it. Not sure how this achieved 4.5 star rating since we had better in Lubbock, TX where bean sprouts are only available in one supermarket (out of ~8 in the city-there's some perspective for you).

Pros: Service, atmosphere

Cons: Food quality

Ratings_icons MY FAVORITE THAI RESTAURANT IN HOUSTON!!!

lovetoshop99876

Ive been to other Thai rest. in Houston over the past 20 years and I've been to Thai Sticks about
a half dozen times now. The last time my best friend and I went was just like every other time but the weather was great and so we sat out on their patio deck. We had a bottle of menage a trios, soft spring rolls and the pork skewers to start and Jen had Green beans on Fire and I had the BEST red curry in Houston. I'm not really into the Indian curries but I love Thai curry. Especially red. The prices we not to bad considering it was more of a white table cloth atmosphere. No bendable forks and plastic cups like another I've been to near the Galleria. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give this place a very fair 8 and a half. Pros- Service, taste, cozy, and selection. Cons - It's kind of far from my loft I wish it were closer.

We had GREAT service-tipped 20%! A bit pricey considering there are so many Thai restaurants out there but guess you're paying for the location! Had the panaeng curry, fried tofu app., seafood medley, and eggplant dish. Also dessert of fried plantain and icecream. 3 glasses of wine-bill was about $90 plus tip. A bit pricey for Houston I thought. It was good but not outstanding.

Pros: good flavors, location, sevice

Cons: a bit oily, a bit pricey

Ratings_icons Best panaeng curry anywhere!

khunkhruu

I lived in Thailand for many years. After moving to Houston, my husband and I went searching for a really great, authentic Thai restaurant. When we visited Thai Sticks, I knew we had found the place! So far, we have tried several dishes. The panaeng curry is the best I've EVER had, the fish cakes and sai grok (northeastern-style sausage) were incredible, each of the Thai-style salads I've had there have been prepared just-right (with ingredients including fresh mint and other herbs), the tom kha was seasoned to perfection. . .the list goes on and on! They also serve what has come to be my favorite all-time martini-type drink, a sweet-and-spicy concoction complete with a hot pepper floating on top. You have to try it to believe it, because it is delicious beyond description! Service was prompt, friendly--we arrived around 6:30 tonight, and there was no waiting. Everything was AROY JANG LEUY! We are sure to go back again and again, and recommend it to anyone who wants outstanding Thai food in a lovely atmosphere with even lovelier people!

Pros: Wonderful food, fantastic service

Cons: Wish it had more parking

Ratings_icons Great Customer Service and Fantastic Food

copter

Friend of mine came from Thailand and we searched for the place we can have eatable 'Thai' food and wine. We ended up at Thai Stick on Friday night. We sat at the Patio where we could enjoy the nice wheather of Houston in late October. Thai Stick can answer all of our needs, foods are great and also the restuarant itself is beautiful. Additionaly, Friday night was busy but the waitresses were very helpful. The waitress who took care of our table is new but has a strong service mind. We got what we asked for.
Most of the time, Thai people don't want to go to Thai restaurant outside Thailand. But for Thai Stick, my friend said "just like home".

Pros: Thai Taste Food, wonderful services

Ratings_icons Fraud on their drinks, watch out what you pay for it

_love_good_food

My friend and I have been to Thai Stick four times over the last three weeks. Tonight we went again for dinner and ordered the ?Thai Tiger? drink; which we both like. As I went to the car to get my cell phone, I passed the bar and noticed they made our drink with McCormick vodka rather than Gray Goose as stated on the menu. Needless to say, I was upset. The Thai Tiger costs 9 dollars a drink, and the establishment was making them with McCormick! I spoke to the manager and she said that they poured Gray Goose in the McCormick bottle because it was easier to pour the spices in the McCormick bottle. I have never heard such a ridiculous statement in all my life. Needless to say, I will not be going back to that restaurant as they have lost my trust.

Pros: good food

Cons: fraud on their drinks

Ratings_icons Avoid Lunch time.....

ellen_a_a

I liked the atmosphere on my first visit three weeks ago, and though I would give it another try. I and a business colleague decided to go again, although the food was tasty, the presentation was excellent, but the service was horrible. First in the restaurant, and last to get served lunch, (the waitress forgot)....

It will be awhile before I try again.

Pros: nice quiet atmosphere

Cons: horrible service

Ratings_icons Not Your Average Thai Food

elleterry

I?ve been 4 times ? lunch and dinner - and I think this place is very good.

The Kitchen has a lot more creativity and skill than any other Thai place I?ve been. Some fairly unique offerings ? more French influence. The Duck here is very, very good as is the Red Snapper.

The service is good too. I did get one waiter that was socially challenged - but the others more than compensated. One of the waiters, I think he said his name was Chris, acts like he owns the place (maybe he does - I don't know).

Pros: Skill in the Kitchen and Service

Cons: Parking (you park behind in a very small parking lot)

Ratings_icons Great spice, poorly cooked food and even worst service from this "highly rated" restaurant

jaynedoe7

The seafood was overcooked and rubbery in texture. When our waiter came back to ask us how the food was, we expressed that the seafood was overcooked and inedible. He replied, "I'm sorry to hear that," shrugged his shoulders and walked away. He didn't offer to replace the poorly cooked food, adjust our bill or provide a complimentary dessert. This was by far the worst service we have ever received in Houston. We paid $18 for 4 pieces of shrimp that were left on the plate because they were so gross. They also use shrimp that is not de-veined. The array of spices on the food was pleasing to the taste and the overall atmosphere was nice, but because the quality of the food cooked in the spice was so low and the service even lower, it is not worth the money to eat here. You are better off going to a fast-food Thai restaurant if you want to be treated like a valued customer.

Pros: Beautiful decor/nice atmosphere, parking

Cons: Terrible Service, Overcooked (and thus overpriced) seafood

Ratings_icons Great Thai place!

tallguyhou

I really like this restaurant, from the menu choices, the service, the location and the decor. It's in the space where Boulevard Bistro used to be, and they have done a nice job with it. The menu has all kinds of interesting choices, especially the great selection of curries. The service has always been nice and unpretentious, and the restaurant is a great date place. The prices are maybe just a little high for a Thai place, but it's not outrageous. If you don't feel like driving to the Village to eat at Nit Noi, or want something a little more romantic, give Thai Sticks a try.

Pros: menu, quality of food, location, service

Cons: parking

Ratings_icons My new favorite dinner spot!!

shoequeen

My husband and I went to Thai Sticks for dinner last Saturday night, and I am so glad we've found this place-we were able to be seated right away at 7 pm, with no reservation, although it did get busy later on. The restaurant is so gorgeous!! There are white table cloths at every table, it's dimly lit, and there are candles at every table-very romantic, and elegant, without being stuffy. It's a great date place!! The decor is nice, and the music is good-no blaring techno like alot of places. There were lots of couples on dates, although there were also a few dinner parties as well.

The food itself was fabulous!! I had the Seafood Curry ( shrimp, scallops, and squid in a green curry sauce), and my husband had the Spicy Bamboo Beef. It was so good!! I had to try hard not to inhale my dinner as it was so good!! I got mine spicy, and my husband got his mild, although you can also get it medium, and Thai spicy. Good size portions-we didn't need an appetizer, although I really wanted to try the spring rolls. They also make a great dirty martini! Very, very yummy. Reasonable prices, too.

We will definately come back here, and I will definately recommend this place to all my friends. Great food, great atmosphere, good prices-what else do you need??? Thai Sticks is now my new favorite dinner spot in Houston!!! Go and enjoy!

Pros: Food is wonderful!! Great date spot too

I went to Thai Stick on a Saturday night with some friends. Without a reservation, we were seated right away. I had a Sing Toa draft and my friends enjoyed sampling the martini options (they really loved the Ultimate Cosmo). The spring rolls were fantastic!! I had the Thai Stick Lo Mein as an entree and it was very delicious and satisfying - very flavorful with a good mix of ingredients. Everyone at the table seemed to enjoy the meal. Service was fast and attentive. Highly reccommended!!!

Pros: Delicious food and drink options; great service

What a find! I am so pleased that I took my dinner club Eight Friends Out to this place! The place is elegant; the staff is excellent and friendly, and the owners are wonderful. Then there's the food! Delicious Thai food with reasonable prices. I had 48 people to dine in one hour's time during my Progressive dinner, and the staff at Thai Sticks had everything organized and ready. We sat down to enjoy succulent, spicy, and flavorful choices. I am a vegetarian and had the Hot Basil Tofu, which is making my mouth water even now! The Chicken Himmaphan was over all favorite, with fried chicken in a pineapple, pepper, cashew nut, & other veggie sauce. This is my new favorite place and is worth every dime!
I encourage everyone to check it out!

Pros: Delicious food, Great staff, Elegant ambiance

Cons: Where to park?, Are there any?

Ratings_icons In the mood for THAI?

wuj_tang

First of all, disregard the red "no parking" sign posted in the parking lot behind the building. It doesn't include Thai Sticks name on it, but it's suppose to be there. (you'll see what I mean) If the weather is nice, stay on the patio, but not too close to the street. Between the constant "VROOM", exhaust expell from a passing car, and the rush of birds bathing in the onsite fountain, you might get a little distracted from your date. I tried the bamboo beef (mild). Each bite was flavorful with spices. It was a good meat:vegetable ratio. Some places just throw you 3 cubes of meat and a mountain of vegetables. (a well-known hustle). My date had the Pee Nae Curry Chicken (is that right?) It was creamy and very spicy. I also tried the Thai iced latte and it was as good as it looked.

Pros: Great Service, Good Food

I have already eaten here on 3 occassions and have always loved my food. On one occassion, we had a group of 15 people and everyone loved it. One person from out of town even commented that now they know why people say Houston has such great restaurants!! We love the green curry the absolute most but everything we have tried is wonderful. Great place for a fun night out!

We recently ate here and were pretty disappointed. The descriptions of the food on the menu got us very excited for the food that was about to arrive. We couldn't wait to dig right into our Seafood Adventure ($16) and Red Snapper ($18) with ginger sauce. Unfortunately, the food did not taste anything like we had hoped. Pretty bland and not very exciting. We could have gotten better food for less elsewhere. The ambience was nice and the servers were very attentive. But that's not enough for us to return to this place.

Pros: Good service, Good ambience

Cons: , Bland food

Ratings_icons Great food but bad service

salestqrc

I must say that Thai sticks has excellent food. I recommend making reservations if going on a weekend night. The authentic Thai food is one of the best in Houston. Unfortunately, the service is way below average. The waiter brought out cold soup. It was sent back and was still cold the second time. Asked one of the owners to resolve the issue, and the soup was brought back right before we received the check. Food order was completely messed up. Overall, the service ruined our dinning experience. With proper management, and competent service, this restaurant would be fantastic.

Pros: awesome Food, trendy Décor, clean

Cons: , small tables, bad servce

I tried it for the first time tonight. I went with a friend and we started off with the dumplings. They were very good. I had the Pad Thai, also very good. I sampled my friend's Basil Chicken something or other....next time I'll have that. The service was very attentive and the surroundings were very comfortable. It was not crowded when we were there, my only concern is that it might be very noisy if there was a crowd. I'll definitely be back.

I went to this restaurant a week or two ago, and simply loved it. The ambiance is great, the food is excellent (especially the green curry!), and the service is exceptional. Although I walked in a little wary of the "modern Thai" cuisine, thinking it would be overly Americanized and not at all authentic, I was quite impressed. The food was spicy and flavorful. The service was excellent and the restaurant had a simple yet lovely atmosphere. Overall, a great meal!
