5 Stars: Absolutely the best possible (by Melinda H.)

My Mother passed away and I took several family pieces into Marion for appraisals. The appraisals were done quickly, professionally and I was so glad to know more about these family heirlooms. Ultimately I sold several pieces to the shop and felt I was given a fair price and treated with the highest level of customer service. The shop is filled with to die for one of a kind treasures. You won't be disappointed. MH

5 Stars: Long-time and loyal customer (by Alaina S.)

I have to say, I am very surprised by the previous reviewers statements! I have been a customer at Past Era for almost 15 years now, and I have always been treated like a star. I had a clasp fall off of a necklace once, but I took it back and they repaired it quickly and it was around my neck the next week! Every time I go into the shop, I fall in love with something new...and every morning, I find it is my Past Era jewelry that I automatically pull out of my jewelry box. If you want pretty and unique pieces that you know you'll never see on anyone else, give them a try.

5 Stars: Superior customer service. (by philologus)

After visiting what seemed like every high-end jewelry store in the city (Tiffany, Bulgari, Cartier, the new DeBeers store in the Galleria, Bailey, Banks, and Biddle, etc.) - and many more on-line - in search of a Christmas gift for my wife, I could not have been more pleased to find Past Era. The level of customer service I received from Marion and her associates was simply superlative. Everyone was warm, friendly, and, most important of all, extremely knowledgeable. These are not simply salespeople trying to earn a commission; Marion's knowledge of, and passion for, antique and estate jewelry is impressive and very evident. I had such an enjoyable experience picking out a necklace for my wife that I can't wait to come back and shop here again.

The selection is also quite impressive. They have a good number of pieces on display, but many more in stock. When I described what I was looking for (an understated necklace), Marion brought out three or four items that were ideal. She spoke knowledgeably about each piece, and there was never any kind of sales pressure at all.

I find a great deal of the jewelry at standard high-end jewelers to be a bit gaudy, hence my appreciation for antique and estate jewelry, which always seems to be tasteful and elegant.

In sum, do yourself a favor (and avoid the Galleria!) and visit Past Era. I will never visit another jewelry store.

5 Stars: They can help you find the perfect thing! (by mhoting)

I was quite nervous about finding just the right present to give as an anniversary gift! I went to several different places and by the time I arrived at Past Era I was very frustrated. I can't believe they were able to help me figure out just the right thing. They wanted to know things like what her personal style was and did she wear more yellow or white jewelry. I'd never thought about that. Anyway, my wife loved her surprise and I will be going to Past Era for each anniversary. Thank you Marion, Michelle, Melissa, Cristina and Lindsay!!

5 Stars: Beautiful, unique antique jewelry in a friendly and informative setting (by gglober)

My financee's desire for an elegant and special engagement ring led us to Past Era. We were shown special rings fashioned during an age when workmanship and quality were valued. Knowing very little about antique rings, I was gratified to be helped by staff who obviously were experts. Better yet, the information given us about quality, history, and care of the ring was clear and succinct.

Well done, Past Era! I plan to return prior to anniversaries for bracelets, earings, and broaches.

5 Stars: Beautiful Selection, Outstanding Service (by withexception)

I shopped several Houston locations for Art Deco filigree engagement rings, and Past Era had the best selection of original rings. I told them my price range, and they quickly showed me several pieces. Each ring was beautiful and unique. Not only did they have the most to offer, but Past Era's staff was also much more personable and helpful than any other store. They not only catered to the specific details I wanted in the ring, but their attitudes and personalities helped make that search and purchase both personal and memorable. I highly recommend Past Era.

5 Stars: Best engagement rings! (by luckycrvs)

My fiance and I looked EVERYWHERE and could not believe how many beautiful rings there were to choose from. I had difficulty making up my mind between my favorites, but finally decided on a filigree diamond ring from the 1920's. The sales person was so very helpful; all of our questions were answered without the snootyness we got at other places and the romance of the moment wasn't lost. We hope you won't pass up this treasure!

5 Stars: User review by marionglober (by pastera)

Wonderful selection of Victorian, Art-Nouveau, Edwardian and Art Deco jewelry. The sales staff are fabulous -- knowleagable and very helpful. Shopping at this store is a fun and very rewarding experience for the shopper. It is Houston's best source for fine antique jewelry; a must for anyone looking for true antique period pieces of impeccable quality and style, whether shopping for gifts or the perfect wedding and engagement rings -- the serious shoppers will not be disappointed!
